Terrys Traditional Fish & Chips in Great Yarmouth

Felt I had to write a review after a disappointing visit previously and this was so much better, they were quick serving, the food tasted good, they had improved the seating area outside.

Obviously a very popular and well liked place for fish and chips. Small seating area in front of the shop so share your table if you can. Had to wait a few mins to get our meal but it was lovely and hot so no complaints on that score.

I've been here twice in the last week now, as we're on holiday, and I can confirm that the chips are an oily mess and rather vile. The popcorn chicken was ok, but the cod was tiny and there was barely anything in the batter! There is no way it was fresh :( The staff are nice, but I think it's the seating that pulls people in and even then that belongs to Nicky's next door.

Seen crowd on seats, thought it must be good. Was shocked to receive 2 sets of horrible fish and oily and soggy chips. The chips were limp and tasted vile, and the aftertaste stays with you a while. Cod roe was the worst I have ever eaten in 40 years. Thin batter, cold and wet roe, all mushy and just awful. How they are still in business is beyond me. So many better places to have fish & chips along the seafront. Give this place a skip.

We had cod and chips twice and 2 chicken burgers thinking they came with chips as well. £42 something then £3 for a very small sauce. Well the chicken burgers were just that no chips and the fish and chips tasted of oil and not very nice at all. Definitely wouldn’t go again.

Chips were so greasy and had an unpleasant oily after taste. It's clear that the oil they're cooked in, hadn't been changed in a very, very long time. Gross, wouldn't come back. 1 of the portions was also made up of little dregs which were oily, hard and massively overcooked. My kids got pains in their tummies after eating chips here, never again. Shocking quality with zero standards.

Lovely freshly cooked fish & chips. It’s a very busy place but with that comes freshly cooked food. There’s a few tables available outside but mostly full when busy but the food is worth the wait.

There is nothing like a wonderful portion of fresh chips with salt & vinegar. Chips were hot, not at all greasy and very yummy. Highly recommend.

Definitely the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Fish and chips tasted of very old cooking oil, batter was over cooked and solid ,fish was certainly not fresh. Binned the lot and went elsewhere. Should have noted beforehand that even the seagulls were not eating anything from this place!

We thought we would come here for our evening meal as we were staying in yarmouth for the weekend and were very disappointed the fish looked like it had been run over and there was more batter than fish and the batter was burnt also chips were over done aswell for the price we paid ee will not be going back

Sausages where ok but quite a lot of Hard chips in our portions. Not the greatest I’ve had. Started to rain and went under the cafe area to eat them with family and a grumpy teenager who worked at the cafe said ‘you’re gonna have to move from here as we are putting bins out’ it wasn’t what she said it’s how she said it, was sulky and rude.

Excellent value for money. This is the best cod I've ever had. Customer service also fantastic. Clean tidy 5star rating. Opposite pirates cove on seafront

We stopped here on our way past and ordered standard chips with SFC chicken strip's it took about 5 / 10 minutes wait but was all freshly cooked and was really tasty well worth the short wait and lots of chips with 6 large tasty strips we would rec😋🍟🍟

After reading reviews and walking passed this place on numerous occasions I thought why not try it out. Wow what a disappointment. I ordered fish and chips and I wish I hadn't bothered it was disgusting. The chips didn't taste nice and the batter on fish just ruined it, and was rock hard. I eat out in Yarmouth alot and can honestly say alot of people are happy to eat rubbish. Needs to improve drastically.

I've never submitted a review for a fish and chip shop before but felt it necessary in this case as my fish was really poor quality. The fish was really watery to the point where I had to go back to question whether it was cooked properly. The chips were nice but I didn't eat my fish in the end. I wouldn't go back.

We came here three days ago looking for some tea and stumbled across this chip shop so we decided to give it ago as we’d never been here before. We were a family of seven and there were plenty of seating to sit down. When ordering what we wanted my hubby asked the girl if she could wipe the tables over as they were grubby, when she came over she said I’d just wiped these, I thought she had a bit of an attitude problem. We got our meals and to be honest it wasn’t the greatest, there was a lot of batter and hardly any fish, the chips were ok I suppose, nothing special and the bartered sausage could have done with a bit extra cooking. I don’t think we’ll be returning soon but it did at the time as we were hungry and it was quite late at night and nothing else was open as we’d been playing in the arcades. I think the two girls serving need to learn some customer service as they were rude and not very pleasant.

Had a evening snack here of chips and the kids had nuggets. Nice food for a very good price. Was happy with our food. Nice location.

Finding a chippy open after 7.30 in Great Yarmouth is no mean feat .Terrys s was open ,put the order in and took a seat outside ,within5 minutes a nice portion of freshly cooked fish and chips was ready .Really enjoyed them ,I will go back .

Thought we’d try this chippy as were in town to see a show. We only ordered sausage and large chips and pineapple fitter and chips. However after 15 mins I has to ask were our food was, I said to the sever that we hadn’t ordered anything that would take 15-20 mins to cook so what was the delay, as tbh it wasn’t like there was lots of people ordering and they were rushed off their feet. As soon as asked we were served. The standard portion of chips was £1.90 and honestly it was smaller than a child’s portion, large was average standard size portion imo. tbf the chips were a bit greasy but nice but definitely not worth waiting 15-20 mins for.

Ordered 2 x haddock and chips which were on offer for £15 for the two. Taste lovely, good size fish and good portion of chips. Friendly staff and quick service.

Ordered a large portion of fish and chips. Batter was soggy and the amount of chips wasn't even enough to be able to describe it as a small child's portion. Go elsewhere!
