Friday afternoon and we had a craving for traditional fish and chips. Walked the length of the High Street past fancy studenty cafes - most of which were shut - and found Templetons right at the end of the street as we were giving up all hope. What a find! Big, golden, lightly battered fish, excellent chips and mushy peas with bread and butter and a mug of tea £11. Nice, welcoming staff who gave us a great overview of the town. Just what a new student needed to find! Happy to leave my son well-fed and well-informed!

The best chip shop around. Templetons is a hidden gem with an extensive menu, a clean setting and great customer service. We visit regularly and won’t go anywhere else. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Beautiful chippy! Enjoyed lunch with a friend on a cold rainy day, staff were very polite and helpful and the fish was cooked beautifully, highly recommended and will definitely be back

Bitty hard slivers of chips , which we couldn’t eat and threw away . Fish was ok but batter was soggy and full of oil , obviously oil was not hot enough to cook batter . Mushy peas were watered down . Very pleasant older gent serving . Pity about the food as we were told this was best chippy in Bangor 🤷‍♀️🥴 Wouldn’t recommend and won’t return

Best chippy in Bangor. It’s a shame it’s out of the way. The chips were fresh crispy and fluffy inside. The perfect combination for a chip. Nice clean environment. Definitely Bangors hidden Gem

Stopped of for something to eat at lunchtime, had scampi and chips, good amount of scampi, decent chips, non of this triple cooked stuff just decent quality chip shop chips. Staff friendly and helpful. Covid precautions in place and well managed. Only slight (very slight) drawback was its cash only.

Popped in for a quick meal, lovely friendly staff, shame the food wasn’t up to that standard. Just fancied a fish and chip lunch as a treat. Mushy peas lovely, fish itself not bad, batter awful ( had to take it off the fish) no idea what was in it, chips pale and soggy. Prices were reasonable and you could see exactly what they were from the poster. The sitting area was clean and tidy. Would I go there again probably not unless they sort out the fish batter.

Came here for some lunch. Staff are pleasant. Had chips and curry. Curry was good, chips were awful. Think I was given the last bits from the bottom of the frier, all hard, crispy , hardly any potato at all. Shame . Wont be returning.

Had fish and chips from here today for lunch, and it was - as always - very good indeed. Fish was so big it had to be folded at the end to fit in the tray (love it!). Templetons is always our preferred choice when we're in the city centre itself, and my sister in law still raves about the size of the fish she had from here last year.

Lovely owner who will go out of his way to help you. Pity the quality of food isnt that brilliant. Degintely worth a try though as it's quite cheap but my honest advice walk 100 meters up the street and try Valla's.

While the Norbar looks great and is in a great location, I think it has strayed far from the casual family-friendly pub it used to be as the Wayside, which is a huge shame. The best part about it was

Never been to Bangor so googled best chippie (as you do!) and it came up with Cheryls. Have to say she fully deserves the title! Friendly service, everything cooked fresh, good value and tasted great.
