We were looking for a place to eat near our hotel and stumbled across this restaurant. We had the carbonara and a pizza followed by tiramisu which were delicious. The meal and a bottle of wine cost £98 including a service charge. The restaurant was relaxed and the service was amazing. Would recommend for anyone looking for a tasty Italian meal

I liked the burger very much. First of all, the quality and thickness of the meat inside is very nice. Additionally, water is trapped in the meat. I prefer some caramelized onions on top of the meat. service was good. The price is one level higher, but the taste and quality are good.

Always good food, friendly staff & good atmosphere

A hidden gem. A great value restaurant with good quality food and friendly and efficient staff. Large portion sizes, so I order a smaller portion when having lunch. Well worth a visit. Is accessed by stairs so not good for those who find stairs difficult.

Stopped while walking on the river to the Tower of London. Just a few steps from the river. Had fantastic thin crust pizza but there were many other choices. Very clean, and very friendly.

On my own as in purdah during a hearing. So much better than a hotel restaurant and the boss was hospitality personified. My request for a cold beer was met instantly. The menu was interesting, particularly the special board and the food was superb especially the wild boar risotto. All in all a perfect solo dinner

Excellently run by the hospitable owner, Peter. Staff charming. Food good and the atmosphere relaxing and unpretentious. All those who have visited with me have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Found this gem close to Blackfriar’s bridge. The food came quick and was tasty and cooked just right. My steak was medium and never dried out. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The blood orange sorbet was tangy and a nice difference from a regular orange sherbet.

Cosy restaurant in a lovely location though slightly off beaten path. The food was good as was the service. There aren’t many good Italian restaurants (that aren’t takeaway and/or chains) in this area and I’ll definitely be back.

This place was fabulous. The guy who served us was so helpful and friendly. The food had my taste buds going and it is very reasonably priced. We will be back for sure.

We went to Tempio on a Friday evening without booking and although the place was busy, we managed to get a table for two. The atmosphere was great, as was the service. Food was fantastic - there is a specials board. This is not a tourist trap chain so if you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in London this is worth a visit. It's also very close to the river, so following a meal, why not take a walk along the Thames?

Just brilliant! We had booked and seen reviews , we were not disappointed. The service from Peter the owner was so friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. We returned a couple of nights later, equally as pleasurable.

Amazing place in the heart of business area. I loved and all of my 5 colleagues also loved it. We have and past and pizza and Melanese, wine . Everything was tasty, service was perfect , nice vibe , perfect wine. We had a great experience and would recommend everyone if you are looking for Italian restaurant in this area this is right place to go.

Fantastic food and really friendly and accommodating staff so you can't really go wrong here! Lots of choice on the menu for both food and drinks and the prices are very reasonable. Had a great evening here with a party of 6 (and have been back several times since!). Would highly recommend.

I work nearby and this is our favourite place to go for a group lunch. The food is fantastic every time and the staff are wonderful.

Perfect for lunch away from the Fleet Street crowds, excellent pasta and pizza dishes plus daily specials at reasonable prices. Never disappoints.

The menu was customised for us, which was a great thing! The vibe of the restaurant was lovely as it's a basement setting. A must try!

Something I hadn’t noticed before and that immediately struck me when I came to write this review is how far apart in time reviews have been written - that in itself may tell you something. Had what happened not occurred then I probably wouldn’t have left a review but actually, the food wasn’t that special. My lasagne was small and devoid of very much meat. In fairness the pizzas were okay. We didn’t have puddings. The issue for me is that 3 sodas with cordial were charged at over £13? At over £4 each it is as much as a beer?! Now, when a customer says that the drinks are too expensive then I think a small gesture to reduce the charge is a good way to keep a customer happy, when justified, which I feel this was. The excuse given was that soda was from a bottle but when we initially ordered the drinks it would have been polite of the owner to point this out and perhaps say that lemonade would be cheaper. It just smacked of trying to make as much money out of the customer of possible and I think it is ‘false economy’ for the restaurant because it led to me leaving this review. When the manger gave the bottle explanation I just said okay because I was annoyed by then and just wanted to leave. I felt sorry for the waitress but explained I wasn’t leaving a tip because the drinks had been too expensive. As I said to my wife on the walk back to the hotel, I really don’t mind paying when things are worth it but I hate to feel I have been ripped off.

A fine little restaurant that we returned to for a second meal. We especially like the wide range of specials on offer and the reasonable portion sizes. Nothing fancy as far as decor goes but pretty and inviting. Price was much more reasonable than nearby Fleet Street places.

Underwhelming food for the prices. Quality of food could be better. It just seems like anyone could make the kind of food they serve. Pizzas are nothing special and pasta is nice but again, quite underwhelming and can be quite bland. The lasagne is just a bowl of poor quality cheese on top of dry sheets of hard pasta with no authentic Italian taste. A friend ordered the fish and chips from the specials board and it was extremely disappointing. Tiny piece of over-battered fish that didn’t look fresh was served with sad looking chips.

I recommend Tempio it has a very food atmosphere. The food is very good and the service it is excellent.

I love this place, because they cook with fresh ingredients..

Lovely restaurant run by two great guys

After a very busy walking day with our 5 year old we googled close by restaurants to our hotel and we were not disappointed at all! Not only did they accommodate our exhausted 5 year old with all oh his strange requests - our pizzas were amazing!! We will 100% be returning!

What feels worse than giving a bad review? Giving a mediocre review... I get nervous when I visit Italian joints, I've been to Italy several times and expect to be bitterly disappointed by London imitations. Unfortunately my expectations were met here, not massively, but enough for me to say I ate my food but didn't necessarily enjoy it. I had the prawn linguine - the flavours weren't quite there, the pasta tasted like it was out of a packet (sorry to be harsh but I want to be helpful in my review) and there wasn't enough prawn. However, the pricing is reasonable and I really like the family feel. The service is also pleasant. Others rate the pizza highly so perhaps I should have gone with the pizza instead.

Perfectly good meal but nothing exceptional. When we went to pay the bill I tried to add service to the bill and we were told that they could only accept service in cash which I found odd

I have been here many times, it is a place where co-workers can visit. Food is really good. Service is equally attentive. Price is very reasonable for both food and drink. Always a smiling face to welcome its patrons. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Tucked away, a little gem. Good service, good food, full on a lunch time advise booking. A good sign.

We wanted to visit this restaurant for some time now, and we were really happy we did. The interior of the restaurant is simply yet atmospheric. Maybe the music was a bit loud for my taste. The food was really good and the portions were nice. I had the king prawn linguine and could hardly finish. Luckily we managed to eat some dessert, and those were really tasty. If you can try the tiramisu, it was worth every bite.

Recently visited here with friends. The manager was extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was very nice with good portion sizes, but I was disappointed with the service. The waitress was attentive, but perhaps overly so. She first tried to take our order without having brought us the menu (just a mistake on her part, so we laughed it off). After we had ordered our dinner, the starter arrived, but the waitress seemed eager to mention that our mains could come with the starter too which was strange, as we obviously wanted it as a second course. Even part way through our starter she mentioned again that she could bring the mains when we wanted. We were still having our final mouthfuls of starter when she came back and whisked our plates away and said she was bringing the mains, which turned up.immediately so I think they had been made much earlier and had been sitting under a heater while we are our starters. The outside of the main was luke warm (although the inside was hot so it was fine really). The parmesan for our main showed up before our starter and was pre-grated in little pots, so that was also sitting around for a while. The food was very nice, but after we had finished the waitress immediately offered us tea/coffee, but no offer of the dessert menu at all. Overall the food was nice, but we felt rushed and a little bit harassed which was a shame. Would probably consider giving this restaurant another go if I was in the area, but wouldn't rush back.

Good food at reasonable prices but noisy when full making conversation difficult

Friendly staff and quick Service even during peak hours. Delicious food, in particular love the crispy garlic bread. Only bad point was the fact that the restuarant smelt really fishy when I went there, however hopefully this was a one off. Still recommend this place as the food quality is worth it.

Came here on a family trip to London and didn’t want to eat in a chain style restaurant so booked a table for 7! When we arrived we discovered it was in a basement and we wouldn’t be able to get the pram down the narrow stairs so went in to explain to the manager that we would be eating elsewhere! The manager Peter was extremely helpful and showed us to a lift that we could use in another part of the building! So we decided to eat there and what a great decision! We had calamari and garlic bread for starters which were both extremely tasty and calamari tasted really fresh! We had a mix of mains including swordfish, crab linguine, prawn linguine and carbonara! All very tasty and very filling! There is no kids menu but peter was more than accommodating by halving chicken escolape and fries for two of the children! Really great place to eat!

I used to go here all the time when I worked as a barrister at chambers in the Temple. It's a fantastic place: unfussy, with great food, drink and service. The staff are also exceptionally friendly and helpful. Bravo!

This great little restaurant, just off the Embankment, is in a basement and easy to walk past without noticing it. That would be a mistake. I cannot remember the last time I ate in London where the atmosphere was so welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble - including retrieving a lost bag - and even eating at 9.30 pm we didn't feel hurried. The food, too, was excellent with the best pizza I have had in a long time, good house wine and coffee. A real gem.

Tempio is a hidden gem, far away from the main street so as to not be overcrowded and close enough to make it very accessible. Housed in a basement, which is a little difficult to find if you're not careful, Tempio is a ideal place to meet friends over pizza and wine. Run by very friendly Italians, you can be sure of the authenticity of the restaurant, and the food is absolutely delicious - especially the garlic bread. So if you are either a lover of good wine or good food, definitely give this place a visit.

Was here just once, had a prosciutto pizza, it was good, not the best one I've had but was good. All the other people in the group also enjoyed their dinner. It is a bit hidden since it is in a cave floor. Would return again.

Bajamos las escaleras y nos recibieron y sentado muy rápidamente. Pedí Pizza y el pescado y patatas fritas. esposa Las comidas eran excelentes y llegamos en tiempo y forma. Buena comida, buen servicio rápido evperience educado.

Fui a cenar y me gustó el ambiente de bajo llave, mientras sigue teniendo un ambiente informal. El personal era encantador y comí una pizza Pollo Astra, que era muy bueno y la crema de caramelo salados que era probablemente el mejor que he probado. El precio es alto. Sin duda volveremos.

I work very near, so come here often for lunch. It is always heaving, but they understand the business lunch crowd, and always serve you very quickly. Pizza and Pasta both excellent, and they do a range of other dishes too. Highly recommended.

The restraunt is in a basement setting which makes for a lovely atmosphere. I ordered rhe carbonara which arrived promptly and tasted delicious with subtle flavour, and my boyfriend enjoyed his dish of crab linguine, the chef accommodated his dietrary request without fuss. Worth a visit :)

Mi suegro vivía al otro lado de la calle de este restaurante. Está bien escondido y no saben que está allí, a menos que alguien se lo dijo. Cené allí con otras 3 personas y fue increíble el principio hasta el final. El plato de entrada, plato principal y postres eran preciosas. El propietario era amable y simpático, por decir lo menos. Nuestro camarero era un poco menos de lo que me hubiera gustado, pero fue compensado por todo lo demás. Yo le vuelva a ejecutar la próxima vez que esté en la ciudad sin duda

Estábamos buscando el templo de iglesia, pero encontré este lugar en el proceso. Decidimos comer aquí para el almuerzo porque la iglesia no estaba abierta al público durante un par de horas. El lugar estaba lleno, pero el personal encontró inmediatamente una mesa para nosotros. Pedimos unas bebidas y nos cambiaron a la brevedad una mesa mejor. El personal era muy dispuesto a agradar. Pizzas con ingredientes interesantes para el almuerzo. El personal era muy agradable a pesar de el hecho de que el lugar estaba lleno de gente. Nunca nos sentimos presionados. Buena comida y buen servicio.

Popped in here with a business colleague today for lunch. We were quick to be seated and presented with menu's. The 'Special's on the wall blackboard looked tempting but this one had to be quick so we ordered a couple of pasta dishes and some wine.All arrived promptly - with 2 glasses of water, something you don't get in a UK restaurant very often - and was all consumed with gusto! I had a very nice crab-meat linguine.Nice place for a quick (or a slow) lunch.

Took a look at a couple of pizzas being brought to nearby tables, they were dreadful. I had a milanese cutlet, not too bad but somewhat small given what gets normally served in London. Accompanied by spaghetti of dubious quality. The dishes ordered by my co-diners didn't seem much more appealing. Avoid if what you want is good Italian food, but you might appreciate the atmosphere and/or location.

Not exactly a tough test but we were there for a reasonably quick, one-course lunch. It ticked all the boxes: good and prompt service, decent selection of specials, tasty food and my friend paid! The food and ambience were definitely Italian so no disappointment there but it was lunchtime so I didn't get to check out the wine availability.

Surprisingly light given its basement location, Tempio runs a slick operation making it perfect for a quick lunchtime bite to eat (they also do take-out if you ring ahead) - staff are efficient but polite with it and food is delivered quickly. We both opted for pizza - lovely thin and crispy base, I had the quattro stagioni which had a ridiculous amount of topping! Not the most spacious of venues but I think that's part of the charm - can't fault anything.

The grim descent to this basement restaurant turned into a surprisingly pleasant, bright and light little Italian joint. I visited for lunch with a friend on a weekday and there was a warm atmosphere about the place. I had the smoked chicken and sun-dried tomato penne - it arrived tepid rather than piping hot and it contained approximately 4 smallish pieces of shredded chicken, 2 of which were gristly and inedible, but the sauce was rich and full of flavour. I thought the price tag a little steep for what was essentially pasta with tomato sauce and the meagre portion left me still feeling hungry. My friend had a pizza and it was excellent - a thin and crispy base and generous toppings. The service was extremely prompt, but our waitress was sullen and snapped at me which came across as unfriendly. This is an OK pit-stop if you want to get away from the hustle, bustle and chain food of nearby Fleet Street, but not worth a special trip.

This is a lovely little hidden gem. Its very popular and gets busy, so its well worth booking in advance. Its a family run business and the staff are lovely.There is plenty of food to chose from but the pizza and pasta's are the best.

We had booked for an early meal before theatre, but our train was late, so we rushed in with half an hour to eat and get on our way. No problem! Wine and water were cheerfully on the table within minutes, and our tasty pizzas and pastas appeared about 10 minutes later. Shame we had to rush good food, and didn;t get a chance to sample desserts and coffee. Will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

Definitely an enjoyable spot, just below street level. Bright and spacious interior fares well with small or large groups.The food was nothing to go out of your way for, but certainly solid. I would have liked deeper flavors in the wild boar and mushroom risotto, but it was a filling meal at a reasonable price for London. The rocket salad was disappointingly small, and also lacked in depth of flavor. While I do enjoy balsamic vinegar, there wasn't enough interest in the dressing to take it from a bunch of leaves with shaved cheese on top into something memorable.

This treasure is lower street level. Incredibly busy with professional folks in banking and the financial sector. Food is incredible. Portions seem so big and deserts just kept coming. Incredible find. Where the power lunches are it seems.

Das etwas versteckt liegende Lokal hat ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Speisekarte hat eine große Auswahl von Pizzen, außerdem gab es eine tolle Tageskarte mit frischen Pasta- und Fischgerichten. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Kleiner Hinweis: Rechnung bitte kontrollieren, bei uns wurden 2 Salate zu viel berechnet. Nach einem Hinweis von uns wurde der Fehler sofort korrigiert, aber bei einer anderen Bewertung wurde das auch schon bemängelt. Ansonsten kann man das Restaurant empfehlen.

Tempio has become a favourite for a quick meal in town either just the two of us or with friends or family. The food is always delicious, a lovely selection of wine and really good service. Last time I had the Wild Boar Sausage Risotto off the specials board and it was amazing!
