Have used this place many times, yesterday the dynamic was different, only two staff doing everything which made the service quite slow. we ordered baguette in place of sandwhich, but later when we thought about the proce differential for a baguette to a sandwich, it would appear you pay the price of the sandwhich including the bread and a £1 on top for the baguette, surely this cannot be right, there should be some price difference for not having the bread and then a small extra charge for the baguette, not a charge for both? we ordered cake to follow our baguette as it looked delicious and we were asked if we wanted it after our food, we agreed. we had finished our food and held onto our second cup of tea until the cake came, but it didn't, we asked the man who was delivering food to a table near by, if we could have our cake, he said he would tell her (his words) the lady who served us continued to serve and ten minutes later I caught her nearby and asked could we have our cake. 5 minutes later, no cake, so I went to the till I was completely ignored by the man who was making tea and the lady continued taking a fresh order from another customer. I waited patiently until she had finished serving and she looked in my direction, I said we are waiting for our cake, I asked the man 15 minutes ago and asked you 5 minutes ago, she didn't speak but then as I stood waiting she said I will bring it over. another 5 minutes before it was delivered, no apology, by then our tea was cold. My husbands carrot cake had a whole layer missing from the bottom and the mushed up piece was from from worthy of the £3.60 a slice. we didn't want to make a fuss, so ate our cake and left. To add insult to injury, they even charged an extra 10 for a shaving of onion on the cheese baguette. I noted on the receipt that it has the name Classics on it, so our theory was it has changed hands, not a welcoming lunch here this time.

My first visit here, and it was lovely. Clean tables and staff who genuinely seemed happy in their work. Two tea-cakes with hot drinks and served promptly and with a smile. Lovely crockery too. The menu is quite basic, but I was glad to see NO chips on any of the dishes! I like to try the various cafes in Nuneaton, and after today, have no qualms about revisiting this quaint and pleasant place in the near future. I just wish they didn't sell wine or beer, this place is too nice for that.

From the outside, Tea and Chat does not strike you as amazing, BUT, inside, the very friendly service and snack food IS. We ordered a prawn sandwich and an egg mayonnaise on brown, and these were delicious. I'm not a great fan of brown bread, but this was the best I have ever tasted, and the fillings were ample, especially the prawns in Marie rose sauce. There are some seats outside at the front, and also at the back in a small courtyard. It's by the Ropewalk entrance - enjoy!. John.

We're so pleased to see Tea & Chat open once again after so long. They have added COVID-19 precautions all over, including separation panels and hand sanitiser. The food is as good as ever and the staff are happy to be back. And so are we. They are also part of the governments' Eat Out to Help scheme Mondays to Wednesdays. I don't think they have cut their menu down. It's still the great choice and great value as ever.

We stopped for lunch at this clean and tidy cafe. We all had sandwiches, toasted and otherwise. We all agreed that they were particularly tasty and an exceptionally good quality coffee. We finished off with yummy fruit scones. No hesitation recommending, would certainly go back if in the area again.

Visited here to have lunch during shopping trip to Nuneaton . Ordered omelette with salad , but was disappointed by the meal . The omelette was overcooked and leathery , and the salad was tasteless and boring with tasteless tomato, a blob of mushy coleslaw and a blob of potato salad, and beetroot . The serving staff were pleasant and friendly and the room was clean and light , but I doubt I will return to this place.

Tea and chat is a great place to go for a light lunch. It is spotlessly clean. A varied menu served by very friendly staff. The food is always nicely presented and good quality. The price is right too.

We enjoyed a sandwich and coffee at this popular little place just outside the shopping centre. Shortly after we arrived people were waiting for tables so we felt lucky to have one and knew it must be a good place to have lunch. Service was friendly. I liked the crockery they used, very pretty. Our coronation chicken sandwich was tasty, the filling had a bit of a kick to it so is probably made on the premises which is great. Also served with a little bit of salad. The cakes looked good, maybe next time.

This was my first visit and minutes before I went I met a friend who gave it a glowing review, so my expectations were high. I was not disappointed either. The service was very good and the staff friendly, but not familiar. The prawn sandwiches were first class with the freshest of bread and chock full of prawns and all nicely presented. I may become a regular.

This tea room transferred from the old co-op department store in Queens Road when it closed down. The friendly atmosphere and quality also transferred with it. Well worth a visit a drink and a snack break when shopping in Nuneaton.

My wife and I have enjoyed our Friday lunch here for quite some time, right back when they were based at the Co-op in the town centre. In fact when the Co-op closed down we were worried where we could go, but luckily they opened up again right next to the Ropewalk Arcade.

Appalling service. Ordered a toasted sandwich which took absolutely ages to come. Must have waited about 25 minutes in the end I felt I was loosing the will to live. I mean how long does it take to make a toasted sandwich? It's a simple task. There were so many staff milling around although I wondered what they were actually doing. When I tried several times to get the attention of the waitress she just walked straight past me. They could have offered me a free cup of tea for having to wait. When I went up to the counter the gentleman said they didn't have a card machine so I had to go to the cash point and come back. I wish I hadn't of bothered!

We are new to Nuneaton and are trying a few of the coffee shops in the town centre. Tea and Chat combines a simple tasty menu with friendly staff and a clean environment. Good honest food with out the pretentious stuff. We shall return. Highly recommended

My daughter and I have just returned home, from shopping, but we had lunch here before heading home. Ultra clean, friendly staff and nice surroundings. The lunches are lovely, always nicely prepared (as they were in their old situ (Coop) Nuneaton) and fresh ingredients. I shall be returning for lunches quite regularly I think.

Little hidden gem tucked away in a lovely old building. Tastefully done, light and airy, not like some of the dull dark coffee shops on the high street. my kind of coffee and great for a spot of lunch.

Upon visiting my Mum in her home town, she took me for a drink and biscuit at the cafe she often frequents. Her cup of tea was good but my hot chocolate was just the way I like it - on the hot side :) We had biscuits too as we only wanted something small. The staff were very pleasant, the cafe was extremely clean and tables were cleared and cleaned quickly. The food that other people were ordering looked very good.

Tea and Chat is a very pleasant cafe. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful and bring hot/cold drinks and light bites to the table.Snacks on offer, at a very reasonable price, include tasty jacket potatoes, toasted sandwiches, cakes. I take my very elderly father and he feels very welcome and comfortable there. It is well decorated and has a very good atmosphere.

I wanted to give 2 stars but my husband said give it 3. We have been wanting to go for a while as it is always busy and looks nice from the outside. For lunch last week we just bit the bullet and went inside, it was busy so knew there would be a little bit of a wait but thought it would be worth it. We sat down and took in the atmosphere which seemed good, we ordered at the till and the lady serving seemed nice. We ordered a blt wrap and a chicken pesto panini with a bowl of small chips. The wait was longer than we thought, 30 mins. My husband’s BLT wrap was £6.50 and I was totally shocked when it arrived in a large wrap with 1/2 pieces of over cooked bacon and very little lettuce and Tom, the filling was rattling around inside the wrap. The chicken in the pesto chicken panini was also over cooked and very dry. The staff serving the food (round girls) did not smile and seemed tired as they kept running up and down the stairs. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. I think this place has potential but the wait is too long and then the food wasn’t worth the wait. I will try it again in a few months but I’m sceptical.
