Taylors Hotel in North Ayrshire

Stayed tor 3 nights. I found the staff very friendly and bent over backwards to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is a continental delivered on a tray to our door they were happy to do at 5am in the morning. We ate in the pub each evening and found the food homemade and good value. There was fresh towels everyday, ample shower gel tea and coffee. We will definitely recommend.

Awful stay here, the venue is also a bar/nightclub. Noise level in our room was unacceptable and we had to leave. We were promised a refund but none was forthcoming and they are no longer replying to my messages. Place felt really unsafe and I would never stay here again.

I couldn't believe it when they told me that I would have to buy my own shower gel only place ever where this has happened. Dirty bedding blood stains on sheets. Food was good and great atmosphere in the bar. This was just after they had introduced the Smoking ban in Scotland in 2006. I wonder if things have improved in 14 years? To be honest Kilwinning is not the nicest town in Scotland. Try Arran for serenity.

Excellent food, friendly bubbly service, something for everyone on the ample menu, good portion sizes with food and drinks priced fairly. Better than the Corner House IMO 😉

Took forever to get a drinks order then forever to get a food order. Then forever to get more drinks orders. Had to go searching for staff to order. Place wasn't even busy so no excuse. Food was ok although saute potatoes were missing from steak pie and a quarter onion and two slices of corgette is hardly a portion of veg.

I was in with family for a birthday dinner, food was lovely, pity the same can't be said about the table service, had to ask three times for ordered drinks, spoons were flung down with no napkins. My mum was back in on Friday and the table service was worse, took ages to get served no spoon was given for soup, then had to ask for a fork for the main. The restaurant wasn't busy as we were the only people in, but staff said they were run off their feet. Shocking service!! Food was good though.

My husband and I went for dinner for my birthday, 2 course, the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly! Would recommend Taylor’s for dinner.

Food here is excellent, and good value for money, it is many years since i was in Kilwinning, and i have to say that the quality of the food has definately improved

Last Tuesday a family member booked and PAID A DEPOSIT for table in the restaurant for the following Saturday for 11 people for a special family meal. At 1245hrs on the Saturday of the meal she received a call asking if it was ok to move us to a table in the bar as they now had bookings for two other large parties. She agreed to this. On arriving on Saturday evening we found the bar completely full and extremely noisy due to football being on the tv. Our table was actually 2 separate tables set apart from each other. There were children in our party - Taylors were aware of this at the time of booking and again earlier in the afternoon when the booking was altered -and were then informed that it was not possible for children to go into the bar area. The person in charge tried to blame this mess on a new junior member of staff. She then tried to offer us a meeting room upstairs which smelled old and stale and added she could put music on if we wanted to, we declined this offer. No apology offered by the rude manager who was unconcerned about the inconvenience to 11 people at 1830hrs on a Saturday evening, many who had travelled some distance to be there. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Thankfully we were accommodated at the Corner House just a short walk down the road where the staff couldn't have been more helpful by giving us an area of the restaurant that they had already set up for a function the following day.

Went for lunch, 3 adults 2 children. Menu was extensive, even the childrens menu had great choices. We chose from the 2/3 coursemenu which was great value, food was delicious and portions generous. Definately recommend and will go back.

Waited over 30 mins for starters to arrive and wehen they did they were cold.Went here today for lunch husband had beef chilli tacos which were stone cold chicken tempura wasnt much better. Both had cajun chicken again it was alright. The place was cold people were sitting with their jackets on toilets in restaurant were being refurbished and you could smell them while sitting eating not very pleasant. There was food lying on the titled floor in restaurant area certainly wasnt a restautrant surronded area. Will not be back and certainly would not advise anyone to go here. Came home and both of us have had upset stomachs.

This is simply the worst hotel I've seen in my life I would not recommend anyone to stay here yes it is cheap but it's dirty the only decent thing in the hotel was the food even though the portions were tiny dirty mouldy smelly rooms that we're not cleaned daily no clean linen or towels provided and when I explained this to manager was told that i dirtied the room myself I would even rate this hotel it's simply a joke some of the photos of the room that was provided

Tried this place today, food was alright, service was shocking, waited 15 mins just for drinks... Just neutral thoughts on the place.

Just got home from a Late Birthday Lunch with my Husband. We have frequented Taylors for many years but I have to say on this occasion I was extremely disappointed. I cannot complain about the food but the service has left a nasty taste in my mouth because it was downright diabolical. The girl that took our order seemed to be very efficient but it became apparent by the time we waited for the starter that there was a bit of a problem with their timescales. We then had an even longer wait for the Main Course. When we had finished that course we waited expectantly for the table to be cleared but that wasn't happening, so we ended up paying the bill and did not bother to leave the usual tip. NO,Did you enjoy the meal, NO, do you want anything else. In other words, a couldn't care less attitude from the staff and less profit for the owners.You really need to address this situation or lose regular customers to the opposition. The place wasn't even busy.

Was in hotel 09/02/20 had a lovely meal, excellent family business. Staff were very helpful ,atmosphere was welcoming food was good and value for money. We will be visiting again.Highly recommended

Such a great night, from the decor to the food,the meal was very well presented,tasty, and just enough, drinks were a good price and the music was great, all for £30 well worth it and very much recommended

We ate here on Saturday evening as a couple. We just grabbed a table in the bar area. The service was fine both for drinks and food. The menu is pretty good with a wide selection of dishes. I found the price to be reasonable as well. We had a started to share, two mains and 4 drinks for around £40.

The menu was good with a good selection off dishes. All the food seemed to go down well with not only hotel guests but locals.Most of the ingredients were sourced locally.

Annual pre Christmas group meal. Menu supplied with a good choice for the group, Food well presented and served well, Staff helpful and attentive in the restaurant.

Very enjoyable meal here, good food & excellent portion sizes, enough to fill but not to bursting point. Lovely staff too, although as it was very busy, it took longer to get our order but that’s too be expected. Would’ve rated 5 if the people at the bar hadn’t been so loud we could hardly hear ourselves.

Back in October I had a Nice birthday dinner out with the family. The surroundings were nice and the staff pleasant enough. The food came out quick and piping hot. I Would eat here again.

I would like the management to take note of the poor service I received on a recent visit to the restaurant. I visit often and had guests to dinner. Huge delay in receiving pre dinner drinks, huge delay in receiving menus. No staff presence in the restaurant. 3 times I had to go looking for staff. Yes it was busy and I appreciate that but poor management put a damper on our celebration. As usual the food was good and couldn't fault it apart from breaded poached eggs were actually boiled eggs! Please improve service as I do not want to stop visiting. Would have been 5 stars if not for poor service.

My Hubby took me to Tailors for my birthday and I have to say that all expectations were exceeded. The service as usual was good, except for a wee accident when the waitress spilled my husband's lager, thankfully it didn't hit us, just the floor and was replaced quicker than the blink of an eye. Our food was absolutely brilliant and fresh and we felt that the time between courses was just right and we weren't rushed in any way. What more could you ask for? I look forward to another visit in the near future.

Fallo astutos este restaurante. Las fantásticas comidas y el servicio. Solemos ir una vez cada dos semanas, así que el personal tienen que saber que nosotros, lo cual es genial, así es que saben lo que nos gusta. Jacques también tiene una tarjeta de fidelización muy buena donde ganar puntos y luego grandes descuentos. Pero la comida es de primera, la carne que me gusta cae la bifurcación su tan tierna y el postre de chocolate blanco si es sólo tan fondant de frambuesa. . . . . . . Y si hay algo que quieras ia como salsa en vez de salsa de pimienta el chef lo hará por usted, sólo pregunta. Es un gran restaurante, ah, y mejor reservar su mesa justi n caso porque se llena.

Reservamos Taylor una vez más este año para nuestro evento anual social colega. Hemos estado muy contentos con la comida en el pasado y este año, Taylor no me decepcionó. Había una amplia selección de oferta, con una gama de costes.

Gran lugar para comer. Los precios son muy razonables. La comida es siempre bien presentado y con un personal muy eficiente. Sin duda recomendaría a cualquiera Taylor.

Went for lunch with a friend food was nice and reasonably priced. Not many people in which is a shame. Service was efficient and pleasant maybe the decor could do with a wee bit of freshening up. Will definitely go back.

Saturday at 6.00 pm. Very busy and noisy. Service very slow. Table not ready took over 1 hour to get mains.

Ate here with my family. Food was lovely and a good price too. I can highly recommend the Cajun chicken pasta and the steak pie. I'd recommend eating in the bar area rather than in the restaurant area as, to me, it has a better atmosphere.

Really good food, suitable for all the family, young and old, never had any complaints, staff are really friendly and service is quick

Mediocre food and presentation but worst part was being left in a side dining room with little service.

Love Taylor's, it's good for lunch, dinner, perfect for a quick drink or a night out, the only thing I would like is more seating just near the bar area as it can be limited if there are lots of dinners in but the food is plentiful & delicious & staff are great.

Family gathering to celebrate 18th and 21st birthday at Jaques Restaurant. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and couldn't have given any better service. The presentation was excellent, compliments to the chef and waitress and waiter service was first class. Would highly recommend this restaurant for value for money. Despite the staff having to serve 23 of us all at the same time, it was first class service.

We had a really good meal here, the service was good although the wait between main and dessert was a bit long although after the pizza I had for my main I was glad for the wait. I can highly recommend the breaded poached eggs for starters. I had the pulled pork and chorizo pizza the pizza base was not hand made but was still nice. The raspberry and white chocolate fondant was nice, I had vanilla ice cream instead of the pistachio ice cream that was on the menu, so they are happy to make changes to the menu for you.

Had Sunday lunch with family after a family celebration, our server Ewan was top class. Nothing too much trouble. New menu is huge lots of choice for everyone including kids.Prices very reasonable. I would recommend the Sloppy Joe and the Steak Pie 10 out of 10 for presentation and taste. Portions are huge. Couldn't make it to the dessert menu.I will definitely be paying another visit very soon, can't wait.Give it a go!!

Was ok, nothing special , food was good, only thing I have a problem with is I got a burger and chips, the burger arrived on a piece of wood and the chips were in a bucket , doubt i will be back

My hubby & I popped in here for a meal. We were impressed with the service & the meals. I also have to comment on how brilliantly the staff treated us a few year ago. It was a family members funeral, we had a family tea at home but then about 20 of us decided to go here for dinner as this is where our family member used to drink. We had not booked & just turned up. They kindly & quickly set up a private room for us & we all had a delicious meal. I was really impressed as 20 ppl turning up unexpectedly & it was no bother to them

Visited in a party of 9. Service was quick, food was tasty, well presented, reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. What more do you want?

Went here today with my boyfriend for lunch, we both had the chicken tempura to start, which was lovely, such a nice crispy batter! The waiting staff were all so attentive and very nice, my boyfriend had the chicken tempura burger with the salt and pepper chips and I had the Cajun chicken panini with chilli and parmesan chips, everything came out very quickly and was perfect! First time visit and it won't be the last! Lovely afternoon

From the outside this hotel is very deceiving.Good size car park with disabled spaces.The pub itself is welcoming and staff very helpful and friendly.Very varied menu without being too much.My family and I found this great eatery by chance while looking for a house in the area and have been back 3 times since. The haggis burger is a must. All the plates come very well presented which adds a bit of class to the meal.We will be regular users of this establishment as it also does entertainment nights etc.Great wee find.

Cannot believe how unprepared this hotel was for our booking, no bar open in the area we were sat in, had to walk through to the main bar for a drink. Same for toilets. 'out of order' in our area, further to this the toilet that WAS available I nearly fell right off as it wasn't secured to the floor. Food was completely average and not on time (sauces brought out after food) manager did eventually compensate by taking money off bill but ultimately thought preparation was poor. If your advertising for these kind of functions you should be able to deliver. #Fail

Went here a few days ago with my wife and thought the food was great I ordered the Cajun chicken which was very nice however it is a very small portion and my wife had prawn salad that was delicious and plenty of it along with a portion of chips I will go back to this restaurant again.

Food is superb here, service not so great but still okay! Wanted sauce for my dinner and there was nobody around for about 10 mins so ended up eating my meal without. Don't feel the staff check on you nearly enough as they should. But 5**** to the chef!

We went to Taylors for a lunch on 8th March and was highly impressed with the food and the service. Taylors has a clean and friendly atmosphere about it. the lounge area could do with a wee freshen up décor wise but the atmosphere is really good. Welcomed by a smiling and friendly member of staff, we were shown to a table and asked if we would like a drink before ordering. The menu has great choices and I went for the Fish and Chips which was freshly cooked and melt in the mouth. My husband choose the Balmoral Chicken and when it arrived it was beautifully presented and my other half said it was fantastic. so full marks for the both meals. We couldn't manage a dessert each so we opted for a Mint Aero Cheesecake to share and wow was it good. All in all I would recommend a visit and it isn't too pricey either.

I am a frequent visitor to Taylor's in Kilwinning, whether popping on for a tasty lunch with friend's or attending a function with family. Regardless of my reason the happy staff will cater for my needs and i would highly recommend a visit.

6 of us ate here my meal was nice braised beef and pepper sauce my husband and daughter had the hunters chicken which was dry and over cooked with very little bbq sauce not impressed. The fish and chips looked lovely both my in-laws had that and they really enjoyed it Would go back again when i'm visiting

Great food at a great price. The Sunday Roast was very good and the service was excellent and friendly. We ate in the bar which is bit more livelier than the Restaurant but the quieter atmosphere may suit other diners.

A same day booking for my wife and i to have dinner somewhere local. Excellent food, very good value for money and good service from the staff ! Much better than going to any chain-type restaurant and a good atmosphere in the lounge-bar ! We choose to eat here rather than the restaurant. The best local restaurant in Kilwinning - will be back!

I visited Taylor's in Kilwinning for lunch with a work colleague and was very impressed with the friendly service. The lunch menu offered a wonderful choice at great prices. We will definitely be returning soon.

Looking at the website online, I made reservations for dinner at the "lounge" area thinking it would be some level of fancy good food. It turned out to be more like a pub/bar in a cottage which I thought was cute but was not what I expected. The bar area was fun, especially I think if you want to watch sports it would be great. I got the salmon shown in the pictures, it was good, the garlic bread was also OK. I guess given the prices are not too high it is what you get.

We have been here several times and had an enjoyable meal. Passing we saw there was a new menu and thought would try it out.We went into the bar and there were a few tables full and initially we chose a table away from the seating area as was a bit noisy but we got asked to move as it was a table for 4! Despite no one coming in after us. We moved to the seating area. We had a look at the menus and a drinks order was taken. Bit disappointed no Koppaberg or Rekorderlig cider only magners fruit cider which wasn't great.On looking at the menu the only difference we could see was that the menu covers had been updated but the food was the same.I ordered the macaroni cheese with garlic bread and hubby had a burger. The food was OK. Not as good as previously. Lunch was quite disappointing as this is local for us.Not sure if we will be in a hurry to come back for something to eat.

Very friendly service. The menu is large with a good variety to suit most tastes.The quesadilla stack with chicken was both tasty and very filling.The service was excellent and the evening was very reasonably priced.Thanks for a lovely meal

one of Ayrshires unsung heroes. Food is of a very high standard, easily rivalling any of the big buzz works or simpsinns places nearby without the hefty price tag. We choose to eat in the bar as we like the buzz but the restaurant is nicely decorated for a more formal dining experience. Great quality food,big portions, beautifully presented on lovely crockery at a very reasonable price.

Me and the wife went for a meal, finally after someone realised we were in we ordered 2 drinks. Absolutely horrendous prices. Had one glance of the very expensive but ordinary menu. Quickly paid the mortgage on our 2 drinks and left

Went to Taylor's for a meal Feb. 2015 It was really first class the staff were very nice and helpful would certainly go back someday.

Four of us had a fab meal. Restaurant was busy, but service was good.Three of us had prawn cocktail and one had king prawns we all enjoyed the starter.The two men had the steak pie and said it was excellent. My sister and I had the Sea Bass I would say the best I had ever had.. Only two of us had the sweet, because we are greedy, it was just a nice size after. Big meal. With drinks the price was very good. Can't wait to go back to Kilwinning.

Have eaten in Taylors before and have always enjoyed the meal and pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Today's visit was just as good, with very helpful and cheery staff. We noticed the lounge has been redecorated and seats have been re-covered. Best to phone and book table, as it can get very busy.

My second visit here. Huge choice on menu. Very reasonable prices and the food is delicious. Portions very generous. Very pleasant staff. One small grumble-my half pint of Light was a bit flat.

My friend and I came here for lunch for my bday. My husband and I come here alot for dinner. We didnt book but there was no need as it wasn't that busy.We were given plenty time to chat and decide what food we wanted. Our drinks order was taken and our food arrived promptly after. We chose macaroni cheese and garlic bread for myself and chicken burger and chips for my friend with 2 cokes. The portions were huge and we were both stuffed after our mains though had plenty room for desert,The waiter gave us suffiecient time to let lunch go down before bringing desert. We chose sticky toffee coupe and apple crumble. Both were delicious and we had another 2 cokes.We weren't rushed after our meal to leave which was lovely as we let our meal settle. The bill for 2 courses with 2 soft drinks was £25. A great value lunch. It's a shame more locals don't use thsi place for lunch and dinner.

Went for family meal in the restaurant .had a fantastic main meal which was a vegetarian choice and chocolate orange cheese cake for desert .my sister had same main meal with sticky toffee pudding .dad had the steak pie with sides .all very pleased and defiantly be back

Excellent value for money. The quality of food is very good. You would pay double the price for the same quality of food in Glasgow, Prestwick, Ayr, etc. Defo worth a try you will be pleasantly surprised.

Went here for family birthday dinner. 14 adults and 2 children. The service was very friendly and efficient. Prices were about average, but there was plenty on the plate for the price. Would recommend and will definitely be back again.
