The Tate Modern is an interesting place to visit but I won’t be returning. Too hot, too many stairs, not keen on lifts and unless you are studying or interested in a particular designer/ artist .. I didn’t really get any of what was being displayed. I appreciate I might not be educated enough to understand.

Fab building which is mostly what I came here with J to experience. We got a little more than we bargained for when, whilst attempting to reach floor 10, we found ourselves stuck in a lift for 20 minutes. The lift literally went nowhere and it got very hot inside. The emergency button was a tad unpredictable but eventually we emerged to a small audience which made us wonder whether we were actually part of an exhibit!

Distinct lack of home grown artists. We have some fabulous home grown artists who are not being given the exposure, yet there appears to be a preponderance of imports who are given preference. Don’t understand the reasoning behind this! Let’s start showing some Great British artists! In saying that, there are some excellent works on show!👍

Great museum attended for the UNIQLO TATE PLAY had to queue for over an hour with three 5 year olds! The staff were polite but I think they were stressed due to the large queue of families with most children being under 5. They did hand out sketchbooks and pencils which was good to keep the little ones occupied. The soft play was okay the children enjoyed playing with the slide, swing and pillows lots of space for them to run around especially after waiting for what seemed like forever. I think best to go early during the half term and plan for a long wait.

With so much incredible art in this world, one questions why The Tate has chosen such uninspired pieces. It was overall just boring. With such a large space in a world class city; we expected more. While the building itself is impressive, with its stunning redevelopment of what was once a power station, as a gallery of modern art, it's a curatorial mess. The pre-21st century Tate Gallery used to be a wonderful place, where you could gain a sense of the story of art and how it developed over the centuries. That sense of context and narrative is completely missing in the Tate Modern and the main collection just seems to be displayed in an ad hoc fashion, loosely link by banal attempts at "themes." Because of the Tate Modern's popularity with tourists, nobody dares to criticise this approach, but they should.

The Tate Modern is one of London’s most iconic art galleries, offering an impressive range of contemporary and modern art. Located in the former Bankside Power Station, the gallery’s vast industrial space creates a striking backdrop for its diverse exhibitions. Whether you're an art enthusiast or a casual visitor, Tate Modern has something for everyone. One of its highlights is the sheer variety of art on display. The galleries house everything from classic modernist works to cutting-edge contemporary pieces. Fans of Pop Art will enjoy works from legendary artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, whose bold colors and playful designs capture the essence of consumer culture. For those who appreciate obscure and conceptual art, Tate Modern pushes boundaries with installations that challenge perceptions and invite deep interpretation. These thought-provoking pieces, often blending media like sculpture, sound, and digital technology, provide a unique experience that lingers long after your visit. Families and younger visitors will appreciate the kids’ drawing gallery, a wonderful interactive space where children can create their own artwork inspired by the exhibitions. It’s a great way to engage young minds and introduce them to the world of art in a fun and creative environment. Beyond the exhibitions, Tate Modern also offers breathtaking views of the Thames from its top-floor viewing deck, making it worth a visit for the scenery alone. Whether you're there to admire the masterpieces or simply explore, Tate Modern is an unmissable destination for art lovers of all ages.

Another freebie about London Town and great access via bus, tube, train etc. There are different activities and events that frequently change so be sure to check out the website to plan accordingly. There was a queue on entry for bag check and then a queue to use the play facilities for children. However, with toilet and plenty of space for play it made the wait less appealing. Lots of volunteers and staff around to give you a hand and help out you’ll hardly get lost. Afterwards we went down to the river via the stairs to throw pebbles into the Thames and that was a good wrap up.

Went specifically for the kids activities unfortunately very full long ques and overall lack of organisation from the establishment. They should have introduced timed slots, in 2025 you want families to wait over a hour for an exhibition. Absolutely no priorities given for disabled children in ques and overall a lack of imagination for young minds. I lived this exhibition. It is very well curated, it is massive, big, interactive, playful and informative. At times it feels like an encyclopaedia and an omen of things to come in the future for us . It starts with the origins of the internet, it goes on to show us what life was like when pioneer artists were experimenting with technology available 70 years earlier, from IBM computers, to the computer languages like COBOL, Pascal, to what would then become the ancestors of the Microsoft or the Apple devices, an rea in which the Commodore 64 and a Walkman were not a reality yet . It is a powerful reminder that we need art, we need artists that have a vision, we need a vision and a sense of purpose to make sure the world we now inhabit is not submerged or declining because of an overload of fake news and too much information and data manipulated by the 1% of the multi billionaires that control the 99% of the earth resources, media, and banking systems. Please go and see it, it will put everything in perspective !

We had reserved a table in the restaurant the evening before. When we arrived at the restaurant the next day, all the tables were occupied. The waiter's reaction suggested that we had been forgotten. We were asked to wait and after about 10 minutes we were taken to the basement. In a windowless room with black walls, there were several empty tables but no other guests. The room is completely different from the main restaurant and has a completely different, modern and uncomfortable atmosphere. It was absolutely not what we had booked and staying there was not an option. So we had to spontaneously look for another restaurant and were very annoyed overall.
