'O Ver Borough in Southwark

We had reserved a table in the restaurant the evening before. When we arrived at the restaurant the next day, all the tables were occupied. The waiter's reaction suggested that we had been forgotten. We were asked to wait and after about 10 minutes we were taken to the basement. In a windowless room with black walls, there were several empty tables but no other guests. The room is completely different from the main restaurant and has a completely different, modern and uncomfortable atmosphere. It was absolutely not what we had booked and staying there was not an option. So we had to spontaneously look for another restaurant and were very annoyed overall.

Such a cute place, really good for date night. Food was pretty decent and service was good too, so would recommend a visit. Pretty fairly priced as well.

Very good and inexpensive pizza. I asked for a beer with raspberry juice, which surprised the waiter, but I got the juice separately, for which I thank you very much ;) There may be a problem with seats because the place is not that big. We managed to get there without a reservation, but after we did, there were no more seats. I recommend !

We had dinner in this restaurant and if I had to enclose everything in one sentence, I would say without a shadow of a doubt: "ITALIAN pride in London". We were greeted with a smile by Gabriele who immediately made us feel at home; We ate a pizza with an ultra-light dough and real buffalo mozzarella, crunchy croquettes and arancini and with a very soft filling; Ravioli with an amazing sauce and delicious spaghetti with mussels, to be specified rigorously handmade pasta; All accompanied by high quality craft beers; We finished with a decomposed cannoli with ricotta that tasted like it was in Sicily. Thank you for pampering us from the beginning to the end of this Italian culinary experience🇮🇹

Totally over priced for what's on offer and the quality of the food. Lacks atmosphere and starting to look a bit shabby and in need of a lick of paint. Bathrooms particularly poor. 15% service charge seems above average but the whole experience is very much average.

#overrated pizza. service is nice and friendly but the they have posh knives that simply are not effective for cutting a simple slice of pizza. The pizza is ok, the dough is nice but ours came a little soggy… definitely not worth the money.

We didn’t have a booking but was able to get a counter seat. We were served in good time and the starters were really tasty. They were also accommodating in making non-veggie things veggie but also keeping the meat on the side so the meat eater can still have it. However the reason why the food is 4 stars is because the pizza while all cooked etc was not piping hot (I like it piping hot). Maybe if it was in the over for another 30 seconds or served on a heated plate - maybe that would do the trick. Also they didn’t give us a pizza knife until a couple of minutes after - the heat goes quickly and that’s why the 4 star review (everything else was great)!

A formulaic small menu pizza/pasta joint shouldn't be hard to get right. However, what we got were small portions of very average food. Avoid!

The pizza is indeed very good. Too bad I couldn’t enjoy it fully as I was sat with my partner at a very low table so I had to bend over from a lounge chair to a coffee table to eat it. We requested to be moved to a normal, high table (even the bar would have been fine) as my partner is recovering from a back injury. Tables were clearly becoming free, but they did say they can’t move us. So I had to eat the pizza like a giant in a gnomes’ living room. Atmosphere upstairs is nice as you can see the street, but we were sat downstairs where it’s dark and half-setup. I believe it’s nice for a drink and having a social night out, but I really just wanted to eat some pizza… Won’t come in the physical location again, might consider takeaway and eat it on the bankside.

From a food perspective, truly delicious! My personal experience, some minor things from a service standpoint could be improved like bringing your starters before the mains. Might have been an off night but the food is great.

Disappointing dining experience, food arrived at different times, staff couldn't explain items on menu, staff arrived one of the people in our group when she arrived, food is definitely not worth the price, it was tiny portions and was not authentic Italian food.

Great service, friendly and welcoming staff. They just forgot a starter. The starters were decent, although the croquette was unfortunately cold in the middle. The pizza dough was one of the best I’ve ever had — you can really tell it’s made by skilled hands that care deeply about the product. The pizza with piennolo tomatoes and pancetta was absolutely top-notch. The one with sausage and mushrooms was less impressive, mainly because the mushrooms were preserved in oil, which made the dough a bit too greasy. The place itself is really cool and cozy, with a great atmosphere.

Great Italian cuisine! Seabass meal was delicious and we also received a five star service from the team. This place comes recommended.

The food was good but not much selection in my opinion. We were downstairs so dark and secluded. I could imagine upstairs would have a different vibe.

We’ve popped in without reservation on sa busy Saturday evening. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome, staff was very attentive, we’ve had a wonderful meal and desert, we could not recommend this place enough. Special thank you to Krishna and Carolina who looked after us all evening and made us feel special and very welcomed. We will definitely return very soon . D&I

Ok but nothing special. Nice choices on the menus. We had two pizzas that looked great but were tasteless and soggy. Not cooked at a high enough temperature. Dessert was good though and friendly staff.

The best Italian restaurant in London. We always had dinner here during our stay and we also tried the other restaurant in St James. The place is very intimate, the atmosphere is beautiful. We immediately felt at home thanks to Carolina and Gabriel who were courteous and helpful❤️ The food was of excellent quality, the service was impeccable and the place was clean. Super recommended!!!

The pumpkin soup was absolutely to die for, the service kind and attentive, checking multiple times to make sure we were doing OK.

We had lunch at both locations. We had a great time and felt like we were in Italy. We ate both pizza and Sorrento gnocchi. Both very good. The pizza dough was super light and digestible. Both locations are very nice. Friendly and welcoming staff. Special thanks to Mr. Gabriel who was very courteous towards us. Super recommended. If we return to London we will definitely return!

‘O Ver offers a lovely ambience, perfect for a romantic candlelit dinner, with a cozy and intimate setting that sets the mood beautifully. The service was excellent—the staff were very welcoming, attentive, and polite throughout our visit. However, I must admit I was disappointed with the food. We ordered a basic Neapolitan pizza and a truffle burrata that came with something resembling pita breads. While I’ve always loved burrata in the past, this one wasn’t quite up to standard; when I cut into it, there was an unusual amount of water inside, which impacted the overall experience. Additionally, for the quality of the food, I found the prices to be on the higher side. Despite this, the beautiful ambience and wonderful service made the visit pleasant in other ways.

As a PIONEER in italian cousine, especially pizza, i would STROGLY recommend this place, not only the pizza was one of the greatest i have ever eaten and i would like to emphasize that i am a PIONEER in italian pizza and i have eaten many. Nice selection of wine also additional point for negroni selection. Nice staff super nice price for London i think above average but the pizza was great!

The best margherita I’ve ever eaten. Due to a problem with the lighting issue at the restaurant, they decided to play spanish music for us (my and I are spanish), and we were invited to one of the dishes too. 10/10

We used to Love pizza here and order every week but not anymore. They don’t care about the quality and taste of their food. We ordered margherita pizza with extra buffalo mozzarella cheese. It did not have even basil on it and we did not see any signs of extra mozzarella cheese on it even though we paid 3.5£ each for that cheese. Total disappointment, would not order again!

One of my favourite restaurants in borough. The pizza is excellent, the pasta is also very good but portion is quite small so I’d always go pizza. The service is great and restaurant has a lovely ambiance. A must visit!

We found this place more or less randomly since we stayed around the corner and craved pizza and am I gald we did - the whole experience was amazing. The staff was friendly and patient, turning this small restaurant into a warm place with delicious food. Our kids kept asking to go back "to the lemon pizza place" over the rest of the trip, so it will definitely be on my to-visit list next time we're back in London (and should be on yours as well!).

Overpriced and Disappointing Experience Our visit to this restaurant was deeply underwhelming. The Ragu Ravioli pasta was shockingly small—starter-sized—but priced at £26. For such a high price, I expected a proper main course, especially since my partner’s pizza, which cost £21, was clearly a full portion. At £26, a simple beef ragu dish should at least satisfy as a main. While I ordered and waited for more food, my partner ate alone. To make matters worse, the side salad we ordered arrived incorrectly and had to be replaced. When the correct salad finally came, it was incredibly disappointing: basic supermarket leaves, raw walnut halves, raw figs, a sprinkle of cheese, and hardly any dressing—all for a staggering £14. Charging £14 for such a plain, undressed side salad is simply outrageous. With just two drinks each, no starters, and no desserts, our bill came to a jaw-dropping £150 for two people. The ambience and service did little to justify the cost—both were entirely average. When the waitress checked on our meal and I mentioned that it was mediocre, she simply smiled and continued clearing the table, which added to the frustration. This restaurant sets high expectations but utterly fails to deliver. Save yourself the disappointment—and the money—and dine elsewhere.

Very well done Italian cuisine. We asked, the chef is not Italian but the kitchen manager is and you can feel it. I believe imported products, the description on the menu specified it. The pizza is also excellent

I don't usually go out for dinner on a Sunday night but it's Christmas after all and it's nice to sometimes break the rules. I wanted somewhere nice, fresh and Italian to eat and I came across this restaurant near Borough market. I had the soup of the day for starters, raviolo Genovese as a main and for dessert, an affogato with a shot of Bailey's. The food was delightful, the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were really lovely. The toilets are great as well, full of feet sculptures and they're clean. If you're in the London bridge area and you fancy an Italian. O Ver Borough will not disappoint.

We had a fantastic meal at O Ver. Great service, ambience that was somehow both rustic and modern at the same time, and fantastic food. We especially loved the Cuoppo Di Mare starter. Overall a fantastic experience and would go again.

We had our wedding reception here on New Year's Eve 2016 and have been coming back ever since. Mauro and Alfonso have styled their restaurants beautifully and have created the best atmosphere. The chef's they employ are of a very high quality. We had a pizza with fresh ricotta, partially sun dried and fully sun dried tomatoes and it had a great balance to it. For desert we had the deconstructed cannoli. They refresh the menu regularly and many of the other guests from our wedding still return. Keep up the good work.

The carpaccio and pizza were good, the tortellini were superb, I would have liked a bit more in the plate. Carlotta and Chiara were polite and made us feeling comfortable.

Ambience downstairs it's something else! Carolina took care of us and she was impeccable. The right balance between friendly and professional. Food is superb and I'm italian. Will be back.

The food at 'O Ver Borough was everything we expected, and more! We arrived a bit too early but were given a place at the counter where we were given the drinks menu. The ladies waiting on us were very hospitable and friendly. Our table host was very helpful and no question with regards to specific drinks or food related questions was too much. She was very helpful and gave advice what would work best. Both our negroni (the mescal negroni is a MUST) and red wine were delightful. The food, as mentioned was very tasteful and portions were perfect. One minor thing : (and that wasn't just our party, had difficulties understanding some of the waiters. The special menu had to be repeated by another waiter in order for us to know what the specials were. He also didn't take note of our all our dessert choices. Besides that, if you are looking for an Italian meal and expect that little bit more of your food & drinks, this is definitely a restaurant to go to.

I can say nothing but good things about O Ver Borough! We arrived a little early. We were welcomed by a friendly hall manager. Super delicious food ! To be honest, that's what we came for and that is what we've got ! Service was excellent ! Super smooth and professional service, friendly lady was taking our order with a big smile. She was able to answer all our questions . I asked for some advice about the food. Her advice met my expectations perfectly. Neat and nice establishment. when the place was full it was maybe a bit loud... Bottom line, I'm comming back !

Our third time here. First time we sit upstairs, second time outside, this time we were in the basement. We didn’t even know there were tables in the basement. The food is amazing as usual. Our server Angelina is very nice and has a very good sense of humour. Highly recommended.

I've lived in London for 30 years and this is frankly one of the worst places I have ever been to. Service is shocking, manager anonymous. And then they charge £38 for two drinks. Hilarious! Accept it isn't. Avoid. London has so much more to offer than this tinpot place

I went to 'O ver for a dinner with my colleague. The service in this restaurant is impeccable. I ordered calzone and my only critique here is that it had a very little filling. I would expect for it to be more substantial. Other than that it tasted amazing and I had a really good time.

Delicious Italian food and excellent service. I had a terrific pizza and my friend spoke highly of her seafood pasta dish. Delicious desserts, too. As for the service - so often London restaurants are let down by so-so service, but the staff here are really on it. Very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend and certainly will return.

Very good food, service was not great tho. We had a pizza and the veal, both were great! The food was served before we had our drinks, the main dish was not complete, and we waited for over 15 minutes on the bill. It's a shame, for the food only we would return!

Classic Italian cuisine, tasty bolo pasta, negroni 5/5. A few tables inside, a few outside, nice trattoria-style atmosphere, service a bit chaotic and in a typical Italian style :)

Absolutely fabulous on every level - great location, attentive staff, the best Caprese salad in London with heirloom tomatoes and wonderful burrata, and a fantastic Cinque Formaggi pizza perfect for sharing. The atmosphere was festive but not crowded or loud. Just lovely. Second visit in two weeks!

Many restaurants in the UK have outdoor dining areas. I happened to pass by this one and randomly chose this one. The decoration of the restaurant is modern and fashionable. The portions are not large, but the food is exquisite and delicious. It has a certain standard. Of course, the price is also quite high. Dining in a British restaurant, Basic starting price for 3 people is NT$2,000

Was browsing Google maps for a Napoli pizza place and this place came up in walking distance. I arrived and asked for a table for 1. I was promptly seated outside to enjoy the remainder of the evening before the sun set. The food was served fresh and had great flavors. The only thing I would have liked is for the pizza to be cooked a smidge longer. It was a bit soft and could have used 15 to 30 seconds longer. Otherwise everything was great.

I went to Rome in May, ever since I came home I've been trying to find a restaurant that comes close to matching the quality of real Italian cuisine. This has been the closest I've found so far! The food was excellent. I had truffle burrata to start, tomato and smoked mozzarella gnocchi and cannolo to finish. The burrata was just like what I had in Italy. The truffle was there to taste but not overpowering. The gnocchi was something else though. I normally pick a meat dish and I worried I'd be disappointed if picking a veggie one, however it was so cheesy and smokey I needn't have worried! The flavours were amazing from the tomatoes and the gnocchi cooked perfectly. For a meal seemingly so 'simple' (and I mean no offence by this) it was just delicious, and I genuinely didn't want any more from it... Except another plateful 😆 Service very friendly from the start and all staff members happily would advise us on menu/wine choices. The hotel we were staying at recommended we went here and I'm glad we listened. Highly recommend and I will be back when I'm visiting London again.

We booked O'ver for a 2pm meal and we are so glad we did. First time here and it will not be the last. One of the best meals we have had in a long. We couldn't fault anything about this place. 10 out of 10 for the food and the service. Thankyou

I love it, when you go into an empty place and want to sit at a big table, but they tell you that you can only sit at a small one. Incredible lack of customer focus, we would have called in half an hour and left and the restaurant would have made money. But now there is no money, no customer, and a negative review.
