Tasty Hong Kong Takeaway in Shetland Islands

Appalling food, 3 of us had takeaway and it was shockingly bad. My chicken fried rice was tasteless with rubber chicken and the rice had been nowhere near a wok! The ribs were tough and virtually inedible!!!

Can't go wrong with chicken fried rice ??? This place can, absolutely tasteless even with curry sauce. Chips were re heated and hard, tasteless, glad we didn't order a large meal, sorry we won't return.

Quite possibly the worst prawn fried rice ever unlike any I’ve had before no flavour what so ever just rice with scrambled egg

I have been for a visit again this evening and I always feel that this is the best Chinese takeaway in town. I’ve been round them all living here most of my life and this is the one I keep returning to. I find the service I receive is very pleasant, and it never takes long for them to prepare meals My family and I regularly come here for takeaways, and we have never had a complaint, and I am sure if we did the staff would sort it without any issues

Food was deliciouse, however, beef and chicken could be chopped better. The one I've got was almost like having whole cow or chicken... chopped-stick didn't work, had to use fork and knife to cut it for pieces... Smaller pieces r faaaar more handy to pick and eat.

The minute we went walked in she was rude and awkward I promise I will never go back and not will any of my colleagues The food was terrible and she informed us at 8pm which was when we ordered there was no rice What Chinese runs out of rice absolutely shocking Do not give these people your money disgusting woman with terrible attitude and terrible food

Tasty, deliceous, lots of varaity. I was looking for a place to get deliceous asian food for a reasonable price and I've found one in the far north :) I've stayed in Lerwick for a few days and I could pick Tasty Hong Kong Takeaways over and over again. Menue was well presented, had a lot of good pictures and it had a lot of good meals to offer. The staff was friendly and happily advised what to order. A typical Asian food place. 5 starts for me. You have to visit the place once you are I Lerwick!! All ingredients were fresh (which is a challenge for a place being on an island). Well done!

Had never tried this takeaway before and thought I would give it a go. Very pleasantly surprised. Very tasty food and a great menu. Plenty of veggie options.

Terrible, terrible service. They forgot part of the order and when I phoned to complain the said I hadn’t asked for the dish in my original order. I had to drive back to collect missing dish but they refused to replace my rice and chips which were cold and stale by the time I got back. Food was also a bit tasteless.

Tasty or not, I don't know. Counter is very rude so I just left.

A good place to stop for a Chinese take away. Friendly and efficient service, nice and hot. Good quality. Easy to find on the main road.

Very tasty, classic Chinese take away. Appreciated the freshly made food, good quantity and value and particularly liked the fresh beg garnish even on a munchy box! Would recommend and have again.

We absolutely love this place. Everything is fresh, authentic tasting, you get good portion sizes, the ribs are always tender and full of flavour, the meat in all the dishes is also fresh and tender, including the beef and pork which other Chinese places often struggle to keep tender and not gristly or watery. The chicken is proper juicy chicken not deep fried chicken flavoured blubber like some other places. Prawn toast, chicken won tons are great. Noodles are great. Service is sometimes a bit abrupt on the phone but nothing bad. Highly recommend. They also do really nice lunch time meal deals - recommend those too.

I phoned and booked a takeaway an hour and a half early to make sure it would be ready in time, i got given a slot to go and pick it up but when i went there were six more people crammed in the little room so i went to go pay only to be told it will be another half an hour, they were very rude and didn’t help at all. To get the takeaway to be ready on time you’d need to phone about a week in advance and you’d still probably have to wait another 15 mins

I understand everyone has there own tastes and every takeaway cooks it different but I was totally disappointed with my experience Firstly I went in to order and I understand all the new with socail distancing but I have never felt more unwelcomed as I did in here yes was told be a long wait I had no problems with that and was asked are you sure you want to order (wish I didn't now) and I said yes please then again was asked are you sure and again I said yes So ordered Singapore fried rice which I have a lot but first visit here got my food took it home opened up container and it was boiled rice all stuck together tried it and was tasteless So took it back and explained it was boiled rice with no flavour Singapore stile is spicy everywhere else I have eaten then was asked 'what you want me to do about it' finally it was taken out the back where May I say a lot of shouting (couldn't understand what was being said) 5 mins later food gi en back to me so I thought right would try again got home and again boiled rice with curry powder added all stuck together still and again no taste (as I said everyone has own preference thus is mine) So rang up and was told this is how we do Singapore style FRIED rice to me fried is fried not boiled then was told never seen your face here before and we have never had any complaints before and then was told that maybe I shouldn't use this takeaway as not for me but in plus side I got my money back and yes other food might be good but what I had and the lack of customer service I will never be using again and If people asked me where to get a Chinese takeaway sorry I will be honest (of my experience of this one) do not eat here not good and not very welcoming

Popular, old school, Chinese take away

Delicious food, cooked at a brilliant standard. In Shetland we have a few Chinese takeaways, and each are unique and brilliant in their own ways! I always find the food here to be rich and cooked perfectly. I usually get beef that is always tender. I’d like to add that the rice especially has such a unique flavour with its combination of sesame seed oil — it’s beautiful! I’d also like to recommend the Tasty Hong Kong Starter! ♡ The takeaway itself has a calm atmosphere with cushioned seats and even access to the WiFi while you’re waiting for your tasty treats! This takeaway never fails to disappoint, the staff especially are incredibly friendly. With delicious food and company, it makes this takeaway a family favourite.

Great value for money and very quick service. You will get a better Chinese takeaway somewhere else in Lerwick, however, there is nothing in particular wrong with this place it's just nothing to write home about. They do have a lot of good deals and a lot of good tasty boxes which other places are lacking and this is probably the only thing that gives them a one up on other places.

We are real Chines food buffs and have tried every where in Shetland ! We used to go here years ago when it was the Red Dragon and the food used to be great. We pulled up and saw the name had changed and were a bit worried if the food was still as good as it used to be. We ordered quite a big take away and waited about 10 minutes only. The place was very busy and looked to be as popular as ever. We had already eaten the week before in the two Chinese restaurants in LERWICK and waited with baited breath !! So we drove and sat by the sea and watched a terrific storm over the ocean. The meal was by far absolutely the best Chines meal we had on the islands in 5 weeks trip. It was boiling hot. Huge portions. Beautiful sauces not bright colours or full of MSG. Huge prawns and yummy rice. The house special was fantastic. I looked on trip advisor to find this to leave a review and could not find it listed. Maybe it is so new. Anyway, do not hesitate, this take away is wonderful and I wish we had it in our home town !!

I can't fult there food and quick service

Grabbed a takeaway from here last night on the way home from work. Spur-of-the-moment thing. It was busy which is a good sign. I was in and out in five minutes. Very impressed with the service considering I hadn't phoned my order through. But best of all it was like Chinese food that you get from the mainland. Not overly greasy, not too salty and not covered in sweet red sauce. Definitely recommend this place over others on the island.

Poor bland the worst Chinese we have had a treat for the family was a £38 disappointment!
