Taste of Chongqing Chinese Restaurant Russell Square in Camden

Restaurante chino con una carta muy amplia, mayoritariamente especialidades de Chongqing y la vecina región de Sichuan, con fotos de la mayoría de los platos. Calidad del producto buena, aunque algo excesivo de grasa. Los calamares con sal y pimienta fueron una sorpresa agradable. Servicio rápido y cortés.

After being away for weeks, we we’re keen to have some Asian cuisine and tried Chong Qing as it was close to our hotel. It was a nice enough restaurant with an attentive wait staff. The dishes were average sadly, nothing really stood out (chicken and ginger - we never found the ginger) but prices and drinks were fairly priced. Ambience was fair. Really a bit hard to recommend.

The meat was sooo bad we told them and we were offered more. Why would anyone want more 😕. The bill came we were charged for it. They obviously 🙄 don't care. Visitors and tourists who won't be returning must be the majority of the clientele.

Me and my daughter went to this restaurant wee were very disappointed my daughter wanted honey chicken and the waiter said they only don’t with nuts when my daughter got it. It tasted vile there is no way that was honey chicken it was far to spicy to much soya sauce my daughter had to pick out the nuts far to many not enough chicken. and I ordered sweet and sour chicken with a portion of fry’s they brought a bowl of rice instead of fry’s so I asked for it to be changed as they gave me the wrong order. I never received my fry’s then when the bill came the portion of fry’s were on the bill the waiter asked if I wanted to taken them away with me I said they had no customer service. Very bad manners definitely won’t be back wee were on a city break from Scotland it was not worth £39

This is a Sichuan restaurant along Woburn between Travistock Square and Russel Square. They have a fairly large indoor seating area and a menu with a wide range of Sichuan and other other regional Chinese cuisines if preferred. Prices are reasonable, service friendly and timely, environs what you expect of Chinese restaurants. Had dinner with a friend here recently. The meal was pretty good. Diced chicken cubes w/ chilli & dry pepper was ok, chicken was over fried and quite hard and chewy. Much more preferred was the fried beef in spicy dry pop, this was a flavourful dish with succulent beef and just enough spice and heat level, a very good dish that I'd gladly reorder. Overall, a pretty good meal, comparable to eating at Sichuan restaurants in Hong Kong. Would be happy to eat here again.

Tasty food. Cold beer. Quick service. I really liked the large round tables, very good for sharing. I would definately go there again.

The food is delicious. The staff are attentive and very friendly. As two Canadians, we don’t get to use chop sticks very often, if at all. Our waiter had no hesitation in giving two forks - even without us asking! lol. He served up our rice dish into little bowls. When we finished he asked us if we liked one of the dishes as he was concerned that the dish may have had an after taste of lemon which some people do not like. But we loved it! Definitely a do over!

Food was delicious and service was speedy. The waiter provided a great recommendation. We had a pork dish with dumplings.

Really nice food. Great taste! It was a little expensive, but worth the money. It was busy and the people are working so hard. You can order with your phone, so no waiting for someone to come. Perfect!

Tijdens onze citytrip verbleven we in Tavistock hotel en ontdekten dit restaurant letterlijk om de hoek. Twee keer hier gegeten. De eerste keer nam ik een gerecht met rund, daar zat erg veel vet aan. Vet is essentieel om vlees sappig en mals te houden maar ik heb het achtergelaten op mijn bord. De smaak van het gerecht was hartstikke goed! Tweede keer ander gerecht gekozen (de serveerster herkende ons!) en wederom genoten! Aanrader!

Good environment, good place to come with friends or family. The decoration is quite Chinese style, ecommend pumpkin rice cake.

The staff are very friendly and able to accommodate guests. They are patient and offer out the best dishes to try, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, not too loud or busy and the service was really fast. I 100% recommend

Purchased 1 takeaway beef fried rice, advertised at £13.95, went to pay, woman behind counter said £14.00 I queried that, she showed me the receipt and it stated beef fried rice £13.95 discount £0.05 total £14.00!! Beware hidden costs at this restaurant / takeaway the rice was mediocre and way over priced for what it was, will not be returning there!! Have dined in there previously, service charge added without discussion, hidden costs, not honest with you.

Our first meal in London and left hungry and disappointed! For such a high price point the level of service is horrendous! A group of 4 we sat and waited at least 20 minutes before having to find a member of staff to take our order. The mains were brought without the additional sides we had ordered, ending in us cancelling the rice completely! After asking to remove from the bill we were still shocked at the price. £80 for 2 meat dishes, vegetable noodles, spring rolls, 2 beers and 2 soft drinks just doesn't make sense. We left hungry and popped into Wing Hing for a round of bao buns for a fraction of the price!

Rip off, kabab food for micheline price, don't go unless you want to be ripped off. the taste is not up to standard.

We have been here twice, once for food which was lovely and then yesterday went for boba bubble tea with my daughters. Both times we have been very impressed by the service and the food / drinks.

I went in - saw no reviews beforehand, but it was near my hotel. I also saw mainly Chinese people, which I took as a good sign. The menus are in Chinese, with some English, but many dishes and most of the details are in Chinese. It also seemed rather upscale, as many prices were high and people that came in were well dressed. I ordered the sweet & sour ribs as a starter, and Kung Po - described by the waiter as chicken with peanuts and hot peppers. I also ordered seafood fried rice. The ribs were very tasty - I'd get that again. The seafood fried rice was just alright - not quite what I am used to in the US, and expensive, with little seafood in it - a few mussels, some calamari, some other stuff - not worth the extra 10 pounds for going from fried rice to seafood fried rice. The Kung Po had LOTS of hot peppers, chopped up, and I spent most of the time removing them. I like the flavor and heat they add, but they are not the kind to actually eat. The Kung Po was OK - it did not really excite me. Overall the meal was fine, and I had no issue with service. I found the meal expensive, however. If in the area, I likely would not return to this place. It was fine, but maybe a bit overpriced.

The service from the staff is absolutely despicable. The food didn’t arrive after an hour and a half of waiting and when it finally came there were mains before starters. Disgusting service from ‘management’ and all involved. Every other table was also complaining. Do no visit!

While staying at the Morton Hotel we went to find somewhere to eat in the evening. This restaurant was busy with mainly Chinese people dining which we considered a good sign! Wrong! We were shown to a bar counter which was fine as it was busy. We decided to order from the wine list. The waitress did not seem to understand particularly well. An alternative bottle of wine arrived as they did not have the one we had chosen. We asked for the list again. This time something completely different came which was not on the list. We decided to stick to soft drinks. The cutlery and crockery was delivered then nothing happened. No food after 1 1/2 hours and when we asked about our order we were told it would be a longer wait and had nobody told us this? Believe you me if they had we would not have wasted our time! We paid for the drinks and left. Fortunately our suite at the hotel had a kitchenette so we got some ready meals from Tesco Express as we were hungry. The prices seemed steep so I guess our evening turned out to be frustrating but much less expensive!

The worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had, I’m not one to complain as I work in the industry & know it’s difficulties. An hour wait for food that was incorrect, mains before starters. Bad customer service from one waitress in particular. So little care from management that they didn’t even come speak to the table despite our complaints & our refusal to pay for anything more than the drinks & the one starter that came out. Every table around us was experiencing the same problem despite the restaurant being half empty. I would avoid all costs as I wouldn’t want someone to waste their time

- be prepared that this feels more like an institution than a restaurant, like walking into an extended family party. - not immediately clear who are waiters, or associates, or family on instruction to carry one task. - associates have been seen accessing every where, and taking their own food to their own table - helpers might serve dishes to tables but not able to respond to customer queries unless they happen to know - a general sense of either outright disorderliness or blatant ignorance of customer service - customers can be asked to wait at a table to be allocated to another table, even when multiple tables of suitable capacity are available - protocols are lacking, eg drinks are served after order is placed, but people could sit at their tables fir an hour with nothing on the table and they have to alert the waiter, not helpers, to say they want to see menu - in some cases, drinks can take a long time to come, in the middle of the meal - dishes come when ready, which can mean a good 20 minutes between dishes - front of house have been seen to usher arriving customers out to wait on the pavement, maybe because the number of them in the group, or some other reasons. - front of house can be absent out the back, or take regular break smoking outside entrance - - waiters do 'waiting' and ought to be available most time for customers. Waiters don't need to occupy themselves doing things serving dishes cleaning up 100% of their time - another way to see this is customers are their own customer service, to manage the staff - the place needs some organisation: --- customer journey from entry to exit --- waiters training on customer service --- clear identification of staff roles - a way to understand the place is they have a mentality of being the best, they work to their own standard. If their venture does not work out, they will begin a new chapter.

Authentic food, had a great offer for student discount too as I'm a student at UCL around the corner. Will definitely go back! They have self cook plates in the centre of the table. I had noodles with vegetables, very delicious.
