Taste of China in Leicester

Very few options in chicken dishes . The KungPao chicken was sweet instead of spicy . The Milk tea with Tapioca pearls had a very strong tea flavour .

Tasty noodles , bubble teas are a must try , very affordable and reasonable prices. Staff is very nice and friendly.

First time trying proper bubble tea and it was amazing! Delicious food and fast service, definitely the best tasting food 😋 will be 100% returning soon.

food was so bad the prawn toast was really fishy smelling and fishy tasting but in a bad way and the chicken chow mein was really thin noodles and not very nice, the chicken curry was watery and had a weird taste to it and the chicken was chewy. The chips were okay but had a weird taste to them but they were decent.For the price it is definitely not worth it, we spent around £42 for 2 mains and 2 sides.Imperial Chinese opposite is so good 🙌🙌🙌

Great tasting food friendly service and won’t break the bank. No frills seating but it’s the food that counts, highly recommended!

I came in and had to walk over to the cooking area to ask for the menu because no one attended to me. I tried speaking to a male employee but he just gave me attitude and walked away. I was able to speak to a female waitress and she was relatively more polite than the man. Overall the food is good but customer service needs to be improved

Every single time I order from here they never disappoint, always give me brilliant portion , I ask to swap white rice to egg fried rice they always do it . I ask for chilli to spicy and they give it. There duck is amazing so succulent and tender the skin is my favourite part I love it. There squid is just impeccable it is so tasty and delicious and it never is a a small amount of squid it will be a lot. There pricing is very nice for the amount they charge I love this place and it’s my fave local Chinese spot.

They have a good variety of veg options, Must try chilli chips, overall a very good place to eat in.

The beef is very tender and the scrambled eggs with shrimp are delicious.

Dropped in for early dinner after shopping. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is excellent and good sized portions. Great bubble tea too. Definitely will be returning.

The food here has always been delicious, but they have cut back on the portions of meat in the dish by more than half. It was very disappointing - we also ordered extra portions for a takeaway and since the containers were packed/sealed, we only discovered when we got home that there were perhaps 4 tiny miserable pieces of beef in their beef in black bean sauce noodles. Even less than what was served in the restaurant. Not happy about being conned - will not be going back.

Where shall I start... a good friend of mine suggested this place and I was in 2 minds weather I should come here or not.... anyway I decided to give it a try and honestly I was gob smacked in how tasty the dishes were. Really enjoyed couldn't complain and excellent service will be returning again soon

Authentic Hong Kong style milk tea and delicious flavours. The Malaysian style chicken wings were packed with flavours. The noodles in the satay beef fillet lo mein were bouncy and had a perfect balance of savory and nuttiness of the satay sauce.

Underrated place for authentic Cantonese/HK food! Excellent value for money, friendly staff, quick efficient service, varied menu with both quick-bite and proper evening meal options. 迷你盤菜 (Mini-Pun-Choi) was a surprise find, highly recommended!

Cheap chinese Take away box dinner £4.80. I ordered two, one Chicken and Mushroom in gravy with Egg Fried Rice and one Chicken Cantonese Chow Mein with Chip both really nice enjoyable meals.

Excellent authentic Cantonese food with friendly service. We ordered a braised duck, a dish not too be found easily, not even in London Chinatown.

This place used to be prior Covid times much better. Now the portions are small. Triple roast always come with small quantity of meat. The female owner/ manager is very rude in the way she talks. She is so arrrogant when something is being asked. She speaks over and is absolutely terrible. Go to Birmingham to eat good Roast.

We went there last night service is very poor ..food horrible curry very watery and had keep telling them missing part order and it made few of our family sick

Been going here for food very reasonable priced and very consistent always. Food is made to order steaming hot and cold milk tea very good. Whoever visit Leicester must go and try lovely owners.

Came here for a few times already but keep coming. This is a really homemade Hong Kong style Chinese food from diner to dim sum made by your parents. The way they were cooked are authentic but not commercial. Very unique and may not be welcome if you are in Hong Kong. But a small Papá-mama kind of feel or “hold in a wall” kind of operation. Good Food! Simple and personal touches you may not find anywhere.

Best noodles in the city. New interior design completed but in modern style not to much oriental. However love the place because of food.

HAIR ALWAYS FOUND IN FOOD!!!!!! Found hair in my noodles the past 2 visits and they don’t compensate. Tried to deny it and said it’s ‘meant to be in there’. The service is terrible. The older woman stares at you constantly and makes you feel uncomfortable. When you ask for cutlery, salt, sauces etc, she gives the dirtiest looks and gives them rudely. AVOID

The lychee juice with boba is sweet and refreshing, the service was really quick and staff helped us decide what to get, and the prices were really fair compared to other boba places around. Overall, a really nice authentic place to eat in!

The chicken is not cooked, do you know uncooked chicken is toxic???🤮🤮🤮🤮 莱斯特最差的中餐馆，三拼烧味饭，酱油鸡都是生的，吃了直接食物中毒呕吐。询问服务员就把我的盘子端走了，也不给我重新换，没吃完的咸蛋不给重新上，最后所有菜品还照样要收钱。服务态度巨差，尤其是两个普通话不标准的一个长发女和一个年纪稍长的阿姨。同学们谁吃谁知道。 Had roast dishes with rice (3 options) The soya chicken is not even cooked with blood in the bone, such a disgusting one with worst quality ever. I had to vomit badly to make sure I don’t get food allergies. When I asked the waitress, she rudely took away my dishes and I wasn’t able to take the photo as a proof of evidence. Service was also poor, I don’t understand how they name themselves Taste of China? So bad. 🤮🤮🤮🤮 And , I was also been charged for this with the service fee.

We love this place, great service and food, if you want a really authentic taste then this is the spot.

After the first visit back in March, we come again. We came for the Slow Cooked Beef Belly Fried Vermicilli. Wonderfully made with the perfect sauce made of the beef stew. The BBQ duck is homemade and soft with crispy skin. Very good. Soft stirring egg with shrimp on rice is simple and good. Traditional Hong Kong style. Fantastic. If the drink made better, it is a 5 Stars.

Ordered for delivery. Food arrived in record time no wonder it was almost frozen cold I ordered chicken with chilli and it was stone cold. Such s disappointment as I’ve eaten in loads and it’s always amazing bud stone cold food isn’t good wasn’t even hot and went cold. Won’t be ordering again

If you like real, authentic Chinese food, then this place is for you. The food is always amazingly delicious, hot and super fresh! Without a doubt this is the best Chinese restaurant in the Leicester.

Every time I order their food, it is amazing, especially their beef dishes. The service is always quick and efficient, and I have never had a bad meal yet. Will always recommend this restaurant, and the staff are always friendly, and can't do enough for you......AMAZING!!!

I have been using Taste of China for a few years now and have always been extremely happy with both the quality of the food and the service! The biggest thing for me is the the Chicken is Halal. Finding an established, tasty and Halal Chinese spot is virtually impossible. So, Taste of China is the best there is. THANK YOU SUE!!!

Great little restaurant on the high street in town what a find. The food is excellent and full of flavour. I had the satay beef Ho fun and tried my first bubble tea, it was excellent. Friendly staff and I would definitely recommend 5*

My family and friends have dined on many occasions in the Taste of China restaurant in High Street in the city of Leicester. We would like to express our most sincere thanks to the chef for the delicious and tasty food. The char siu and crispy pork, duckling and chicken, the stir fry noodles and vermicelli, won-ton and fish ball soup, stir fry vegetables, just to name a few. The refreshing fruit juices and chinese tea prepared by the waiting staff and their excellent services. The restaurant also caters for western palate. If anyone is looking for a satisfying, scrumptious and yummy meal, go to the Taste of China. You will never be disappointed! 👍👍

Not recommended. Food was not as expected, the chicken ball was literally nuggets wrapped in flour. the chow mein fried rice was a disappointment. Poor quality.

Really authentic Hong Kong style food! Recently reopened with updated decor, feels nice and cosy. The fish tank is a nice touch. Reminds me of really fancy restaurants in HK. The food continues to be generous in portion and fairly priced.

Just had a fantastic lunch time meal , had the set menu 2 causes for six pound ninety good selection to choose from one of the best Chinese restaurants in leicester would certainly recommend

I had the best bubble tea ever here! The servers are really nice, very polite and very helpful! I loved the place. I visited Leicester twice and went to Taste of China three times just because I fell in love with their bubble tea (I recommend the chocolate one). It was the best one I've had so far! 😊

This restaurant never disappoints! The food comes out quickly, and is piping hot too! We had the beef XO ho fun noodles and special mixed noodle soup bowl. Always tasty and will keep us coming back for more!

Visited at lunch time and 2 of us had the 2 courses for £6.70. We shared starters of spring rolls which we had 2 which were quite small but very tasty served with sweet chilli sauce. The other starter was satay chicken which was AMAZING. Will have this as a main next time. Mains were good, one was chicken and black bean sauce in noodle soup the other was sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice. Good quick service aswell.

I just ordered chicken in lemon souce it should be chrispy chicken i received something jelly What taste like a vinegar with lemon discusting chicken had bones i can not put even this to my mounth becouse it smells so badly. Definytly i will not come back there!!!!

I used to work in town and had their lunchboxes 2 or even 3 times a week. Went here for a meal, post cinema, last Saturday. It's a basic eatery but doesn't pretend to be anything other than that. Great food, cooked in full view. Love the place and as others have commented, used extensively by chinese students.

Very quick service. Food piping hot. Sweet and sour chicken balls were so light and delicious and the chicken satay with the sauce was incredible. We had the two course offer with side included and it was great value for money. Will definitely return.

I wasn't sure what to make of this place when I saw it but I was really impressed afterward. Food was great, came quickly and was great value too.

Reasonable price on the set menu. Just not good enough though to be honest. Possibly if you are on a budget you could give it a go. To be honest, you might be better going off the main menu. We saw a nice rice dish coming out and also the crispy pork looked good. The cheap deal on set menu would get a rare thumbs down from me I am afraid.

Lovely sweet restaurant on high st Leicester, very cafe like. Simple and othentic, liked by Chinese students. Food was fabulous, just the right size and price was very reasonably.

Upon arriving at university my roommate and I decided that we would eat takeaway one week as a washing up-free dinner. The menu has plenty to choose from and even allows for you to choose a couple mains and a side to form a single person portion of a meal at a great price! Even does bubble tea!!!

A fantastic noodle store in the middle of Leicester. Fantastic authentic Chinese food

I just came home with a tray full of bones and fat worth 10.00 GBP !!! I asked for half of the whole duck. When I opened a box just a minute ago I saw only bones from the back of the duck. No leg, no wing and 1/4 of the breast. When I said half of the duck I obviously did not mean the back half! What is more the bones were all cold, just like I have bought leftovers. Very disappointed, because the duck on display looks good. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to taste it.

This is my 3rd weekend on the trot coming here because I just love the food! It comes out quick and never disappoints

Food is always good here. It’s always packed with Chinese students and that is a sure sign that the food is authentic. The portions are big so be aware of that before you go nuts and order too much! The food is reasonably priced but the drinks can be on the expensive side, I guess they have to make some money !
