Four Seasons in Leicester

We used to celebrate all occasions in the old Peking and so felt nostalgic being back. The food was great but will be 5/5 once there is ice cream with banana toffee sauce and filtered coffee with cream.

We booked a table at 18:00 as we were at the theatre at 19:45 and wanted to eat beforehand. The lady that greeted us on arrival couldn’t grasp that we had booked and another lady pointed to some seats for us to sit at. Eventually the order was taken. The starters (mixed hors-d’oeuvres) turned up and were very dry as they had no sauce with them. We then waited a while and the first half of our mains arrived and were like warm. We started to eat these as we didn’t want them to get any colder. When a waitress came by we asked about the missing dishes and she didn’t seem to care. We were about to leave and just pay for what we had received when our final dish arrived. Our evening was spoiled by this. My advice is to avoid this restaurant if you want good service.

Much to our surprise, this establishment had gone even further downhill! Unfortunately, we made the mistake of visiting as our usual dim sum spot was fully booked for Chinese New Year. Their dim sum selection is extremely modest and the standard of food remains consistently poor. I genuinely struggle to recommend a single dish on their menu and cannot recall the last time I had such a terrible meal. Service charge is set at 10% but you will receive shoddy service whereby staff are unwilling to engage unless prompted. They are all uninterested and you will not witness a single smile upon your visit. If the service is poor, then you would anticipate that the food atleast makes up for it. Definitely not at this place. I can only anticipate that this restaurant will continue to suffer from poor standards. If you are after authentic chinese food with great service and high quality cooking, I would strongly avoid!

They assumed that we won’t know how to use chopsticks and gave and us spoon and fork. Extremely bad communication. Asked so many times to recommend something but no response. The food was not that great either. Order king prawn soup noodles and it was extremely bland. Sweet and sour fish was decent. The service is one of the worst I have ever experienced.

Very nice food and good customer service, the staff are always friendly.

Food was really nice but not to keen on the staff n service. We ordered some drinks but didn't get them till the end and had to keep asking for things like Salt sauce etc.staff didn't look happy at all which effects the atmosphere and it was like they couldn't be bothered and were probably having a bad day.

We were going to the theatre from another city. Just googled restaurants nearby and booked this one. Wow what an excellent choice, not one bit disappointed. My family of four all chose different dishes. Not a scrap left. This is the nicest Chinese food we have tasted in a long, long time. The staff were all attentive and delightful. Great value for money for eating out these days. Would highly recommend.

I order 1 pint of beer and start drinking . I was on table with 3 chair , suddenly a member of staff ask me to change the table in silly way ,to sit on family table in the middle of the restaurant or sit on waiting bench , I was very embarrassed and sit in waiting area seats , I just leave in embarrassment without finished my beer.that was not British standard way of restaurant service 😖🤢🤮

I had crispy noodles with beef in a blackbean sauce, it was lovely, fresh, tasty. They don't rush you which is always a bonus and the price is fair. Staff is nice and polite.

The food was totally revolting and inedible The beef was slimy and gristle All food was horrible It was very over priced and after paying the bill they asked for a further service charge of £11 which I did not pay as the food and the whole experience was terrible They only have a 3 star food hygiene rating which was no surprise and my teenage son felt sick after eating there I would never go there again

Traditional Chinese restaurant in English like 30 year ago when I was a srudent here. Food was fine, especially roasted Duck. Seat was space enough. The waiters were nice and helpful. I could go again but not often.

不确定这家文兴酒家和伦敦唐人街的是否一样的，一直想去伦敦试试胡椒猪肚鸡汤，总是没有机会，得知莱斯特竟然也有文兴酒家，赶紧过去试试。不得了，非常赞，胡椒味又浓又香，却不呛口，服务也很好，店里的大姐和小妹服务都好好，环境干净，大冬天里能来一煲猪肚鸡汤简直了👍还会再来！

Excellent food and service with reasonable price

Awesome reataurant. Went on my own tonight on the way home. Waiter recommended some really good dishes and really enjoyed the food. It was amazing!

Ordered vegetarian takeaway food (3 dishes) via deliveroo but received one of them as a non-veg food dish with shrimps 🦐 Called the restaurant, the guy on the other end apologised and offered a free meal next time, but also said these mistakes happen. It sounded as if that these incidents were quite regular. If this is a normal problem and can be resolved by a sorry and free meal (move on!), then it questions the level of contamination in the kitchen. As a lifelong vegetarian, I would avoid going there even if the meal is offered for free.

We couldn’t ask for better Chinese food! This place lives up to its reputation and we feel so close to home thanks to their heavenly cooking. The crispy pork belly is so crispy and soft that it melts in your mouth. The roast duck and BBQ pork is cooked to perfection. Eat them with fried rice, just wow! The service is so nice with bright smiles. We’ll come back often!

We ordered Roast Pork, Black Bean and Peppers Fried Noodles with Beef and Beef Rice Roll. The Noodles and the Rice Rolls are 4 to 5 Stars level but the Roast Pork is so fatty as you can see from the photo. The taste is good and the skin is crunchy. But just the pick of the meat is bad and shouldn’t be served to customers. Anything is the 10% service charge is not clearly posted until while I found it on the bill…. Otherwise, it should be a 4+ Star.

I had delivered the Cantonese style roast duck which is always recommended in every four seasons in the UK. However, the food came really cold and was so awful that the cold oil was came out when you chew it. Nevertheless it was alright until I found the duck hairs on duck skin.. literally they just covered up those with other fine pieces and served as it is. They should be aware that this is bad service and no one will be pleasant with this quality of food.

Roast duck is excellent. Dim sum is delicious. Comfortable place with music background. Kind service. Good Chinese restaurant. Cash paid has 5% discount

First time visit for a cheeky takeaway and went in store rather than ordering online. Ordered 3 starters (crab soup, crispy seaweed and prawn toast) and a main and noodle to share (prawn cashew and plain noodle) £34 Probably not quite big enough to share the main but in fairness they are not described as sharing portions. Quite expensive but we did order prawn dishes and the amount and size of the prawns was very good. Plain noodles are just that, completely plain, no bean sprouts or anything so if you want some veggies then do order vegetable noodles not plain, they are also thiner vermicelli style rather than chunky noodles. Was given some free prawn crackers which was a really lovely touch and a £10 delivery voucher for next time. Can't comment on atmosphere as it was a takeaway but the restaurant was empty when we visited (about 18:30 on a Friday night) Would definitely come again for a treat.

Usually better. Clearly caught them on a very bad day. 3/4 meals wrong. Eventually, it was corrected but then re-served cold. Overall, very disappointing. In fairness, we have had good meals here, this just wasn't one of them.

We had such a wonderful experience having been first time dining here. The food was authentic and so tasty, the dim sum served were bigger in sizes compared to those from other restaurants. Generous portion of cheung fun with fresh and large king prawns. Lovely and friendly staff who were so detailed in making sure our needs were met and especially as we had very young children with us. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Is it possible they could better their big brother in China Town London (Leicester Square). We have been to both . I fact there are 2 in London but Gerrard Street is definitely the best option there. And so we come to Leicester (not the square). Good news is the Roast Meats are equal too if not better than London. Although there is less selection here and limited to normal and spicy menus and on this occasion hotpots where not available. The limited selection is still very tasty and probably benefits this establishment. They can concentrate on specialty dishes. All in all, very reasonable prices, pleasant service and good fast Cantonese food.

Excellent Cantonese fare in Leicester. I think the roast duck is even better than the London main restaurant. The duck was served on the side rather than poured over, keeping the duck skin crisp.

Ordered food delivery from here for Chinese New year's eve, I've eaten here so I know the food is good. After 2 hours of waiting for the food (fine, I know they're busy today) they CANCEL our order, by now it's already 8:30pm and we're all hungry. As to how a restaurant thinks its okay to cancel an order 2 hours after the customer has waited, I've got no idea. Avoid ordering takeaway via delivery apps from here. Never eating here again. The prices are expensive too and other places in leic are cheaper and just as nice.

I would say this time probably is my last time to come to this restaurant. Its customer service was horrible. It was Chinese New Year and I ordered some barbecue pork and roasted duck for dinner. The staff said I could pick the order when the restaurant was open at 12. I came here at 12 and waited at least 30 minutes for my order. After that, they gave my order wrongly and I needed to wait for them any 30 minutes. What a joke! Food is cold.

I came here for the first time with my parents who were visiting from abroad. I had heard good things and they were true, this restaurant had lovely service, delicious food, and a nice atmosphere! I will definitely be returning.

We had a great meal at the Four Seasons last night and will definitely be returning soon! We were well looked after by the friendly and helpful staff. The food was freshly cooked, arrived quickly and was all delicious! The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean with tables spaced out with plenty of room. We thoroughly enjoyed the banquet meal and left very full and happy!

Delicious food but a bit expensive

Best fried noodles I’ve had in my life. The duck is beautifully cooked and everything is bursting with flavour. The staff is really attentive. Highly recommend, if you are looking for authentic Chinese food.

Updating this as it’s been 2 years since my review. And actually well done, it’s still great. I think there may have been a change or ownership or at least it was closed for a period of time, but it’s still very good. Best roast duck for miles around. Fantastic crispy pork and char Siu too. Decent dim sum as well although limited menu. But you’re coming here for the famous duck. Good range of sichuan food too.

This place is famed for its roast duck - and it did not disappoint. Fabulous flavoured meat with that famed seasoned skin. The sea bass was also excellent with the sauce alone satisfying me no end - I could devour a bowl of rice with a few spoonfuls of it poured on!

3 staff at front of house for the ground floor: Manager, 2x waiters. Ultra slow service. Waited 10 minutes for first greeting for drinks order. Waited a further 5 for hot water to arrive. Another chase before tea arrived. Waited 20 minutes plus for first food to arrive. Siu Mai was raw through and through. Promptly returned. Seafood udon was far too salty. The roast mix was the last to arrive seemingly should be the quickest. Food when it was throughly cooked through was good. But when you look at the service as well, I just cannot increase on my 1 star rating. Circumstances: being the only yum cha place in Leicester on Sunday 18th September, this is a very disappointed experience.

Wonderful meal. The name did not disappoint. Not a wide choice of dim sum. But everything that did came to the table was of high quality food. Their woke fried ho fun was lovely. Especially their bubble tea. The brown sugar bubble tea, I loved it!

This restaurant is really authentic and has got me back into Chinese food in the UK after many bad experiences. I don't like the Chinese food adapted for the UK market, I'm not knocking the sweet and sour pork balls etc because I like that too, but I just want traditional Chinese food now when I go to a Chinese restaurant. This place gives me exactly what I want. Great for tofu lovers as well, as I've found good tofu dishes hard to find but this place offer some great tofu dishes. The dishes are what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant in Beijing, I love it! Also, staff are so friendly.

Sad that they don't serve hot pot anymore and dim sum is only available during day time but nevertheless the food was delicious and I like the atmosphere

It was a quiet weekday afternoon. Combination Roast was decent. Great Soy chicken was quite good but the roast duck and roast pork was still no match to the Four Seasons in London China town. Dim sum (siu mai)was also scored a satisfactory as they were chewy. Luckily, the 25% dine in discount promotion and excellent customer service did manage to compensate for the slightly below average dim sum and appetiser. Overall the dining experience was good.

Had a 4 course menu, food was great and plentiful. Loads of Duck and pancakes, loads! The service was excellent and so was the draught Cobra.

Visited a few times. Always great friendly service and good atmosphere. My five stars, though, are for the delicious food. Everything I have tried has been spot on. I especially recommend the pork rib starters and the black bean chicken. This venue deserves much more business than present levels. Try it..... you won't be disappointed

Best Chinese restaurant in Leicester, authentic Cantonese food and dim sum, roast duck was impressive. Service was good as well, it's a nice place to go with family or friends.

Service is good, the roast duck is perfect as always, probably the same standard as the four season in London. The fukien fried rice is really good. Overall whatever we ordered was tasty. The roast pork is tender inside and crispy on the skin making it scrumptious. Love it! The duck has a tender succulent taste with the skin absorbing the juicy flavour. Love it!

Very upset with the order. The ribs were full of bones and the pork in the dumplings were gummy. Bubble tea didn't have beads. Do not recommend.

There was a piece of hair inside the chicken wing, which is bad enough during normal times but even worse during a pandemic where safety and hygiene should be the no.1 priority

Great Chinese food 🍱 we went for the sharer for 2 people and had a lovely range of soup, starters and mains. Plenty to eat for the price. Staff were friendly

Went last week for lunch , the restaurant still offer £5 off per head or around 25% off. Staff were nice the food is ok not their best but Dim Sam still great!

Very expensive for somewhat small portions. I can't recommend the vegetarian duck, it turned out to be some sort of pastry and vegetable concoction, nothing like the mock duck I had had at other restaurants. Plus they charge a service fee, even for takeaway. Otherwise food was ok, but way overpriced.

Poor service. The Peking duck that we had was very very dry. I’ve been to the Four Seasons in London several times. This one in Leicester is in no way comparable to the one in London. Very disappointing.

Best roast duck in Leicester and good selection of authentic Cantonese food

Saw the reviews so tried something new, slightly more expensive but the quality was worth it, we ordered prawn dumplings (plain and with chives) Singapore vermicelli, steamed pork buns and prawn toast, everything was beautiful very fresh, tasty easily the best Asian takeaway I've had, definitely highly recommend... would show more photos but was too busy enjoying it so only an image of whats left of my singapore vermicelli :)))

Best traditional and contemporary Cantonese in whole of Leicester. Also for those spicy food lovers there's zchechuan cuisine exploding with aromatic flavoring. Portions are generous and keenly priced for a high end restaurant. Staff are very polite and friendly. It's a must come to restaurant

I like this restaurant very much, my girlfriend also. The waiter was very good. Once I brought my brother here, the Guangzhou waitress was very friendly. My brother likes her very much. I hope there coffee in the restaurant, because I like to have some coffee after dinner, which is more perfect. Thank you very much！

Best Chinese cuisine in UK. My Thai friends made the choice. Amazing. I've tried several and in the end this is true Chinese food at it's best. Don't miss out.

I will come again, no doubt. Real Sichuan dishes with all the nice flavours, peppers, even fish or beef cooked in chilly oil (excellent!!!! it brought me back), and other more generic Chinese dishes, lots of dim sum too. This is really a very good place. I would have no shame at all to bring any Chinese friend there. And there's lot for less adventurous people too, although Sichuan is not very spicy hot anyway... do try! Fantastic flavours! Just one strange thing: 10% for service is added to your bill... not obvious on the menu/card... It may seem expensive but this is real food: not just 'another Chinese'. So even with the 10% service, this is good value for money.

There are Four Seasons in London, and it came to Leicester, I was having very high expectation. The competition is not that strong in Leicester, I would even say Four Seasons is probably the best in Leicester, but it is not meeting my high hope....

Excellent quality food and friendly service. Eaten here twice with colleagues from work and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. Strongly recommend giving this place a go. Lamb with cumin dish ~ gorgeous.

Considering how long this place has been open, there are very few reviews. The restaurant is frequented by Chinese which is a great endorsement of the quality of the food. However, it is my experience that Chinese don't do reviews, they vote with their feet....
