The flavours of the food are fantastic Reminds me of my families cooking and being back in South India All the food felt fresh and the service was great The fish curry and the Chettinad chicken curry went well with the fresh Parota and Lamb Biryani Looking forward to going back.

Over priced for no reasons , its hardly M star rated restaurant.

Had a trip to Glasgow with family. Went for lunch. Wonderful food and service. Very much recommended.

First visit to this restaurant...on a Friday night...food was great ....and the service the same....but..OMG... for some reason someone decides to have...what is pretty much dance music thumping away to accompany the meal. And at a volume that made it difficult to catch what was being said by friends across our table...I'm not hearing impaired but I didn't enjoy my experience and I would share my view with others. If you want loud dance music with your Dosa...then this is the place for you... For me....no thanks!

Was here exactly a year ago, the taste of everything is so amazing and so close to that of home that it brought me here again on my trip to Scotland! I cannot appreciate enough for the love and warmth shared by Mr. Siva and his exceptional staff Jenny and Megha. They were really kind to suggest us some really good dishes and always wore a smile. The Egg Fried Rice, Prawn 65, Dosa chicken and the Rassam everything was 10/10. This place is a home to me in Glasgow, Scotland ❤️🫶

Not typical indian food meaning it was more proper regional / traditional worth a visit as food is amazing if let down by service staff seemed bored and unintetsted with our asking about food style and taste ...would return again if we have a theatre date

Happy this restaurant was open at 9pm on a Wednesday though disappointed by the overall quality of the dishes ordered. While portions were generous, the chana masala, sagh palak (?), and chicken tika all tasted a bit "canned." The sauce of the chicken tika tasted burnt. Plain naan and coconut rice were also uninspiring. Overall we left sated though would not return.

I have tried food in different places in scotland but I felt this is super expensive for the portions they give, they are serving 3 pieces in chicken lollipop for around £9 this is the first time am experiencing this and the chutney they serve is hardly sufficient for half dosa, staff were friendly and polite though. Customer service I would rate 5

Amazing authentic taste of south Indian dishes.

We love Southern Indian cuisine, and Taste of Chennai Glasgow is doing everything right. As well as a generous range of curry dishes, the menu also has dosa, idly, soups, starters and sides. My 3 companions ordered Paneer Masala Dosa, Paneer Fried Rice, Plain Dosa with Paneer (why yes, they're all big paneer fans!), and I had Chettinadu Fish Curry with boiled rice and Veechu - a thin spread parotta. The service was outstanding, very attentive throughout our visit and everyone was very helpful answering questions about the menu and explaining the preparations. The portions are very generous, everything was prepared fresh and was absolutely delicious. And the fish - WOW. A perfectly balanced king fish dish with just the right amount of heat and a rich, savoury flavour. I had a lovely rose milk with it, I was in heaven. We're already planning our next visit to Taste of Chennai Glasgow. We all want to explore more of the menu and I am really looking forward to enjoying the Fish Moilee. At the end of the meal, we offered our most sincere thanks to everyone for a great experience, the chefs and staff at Taste of Chennai Glasgow will feed & treat you like you're family. We would give 6 stars or more if we could. Thanks again! 😊

It’s not worth for money, called”taste of Chennai” but nothing to do with South Indian Chennai food at all. Quite disappointing with the food .

My wife and myself visit Glasgow occasionally to attend shows at the Kings Theatre which is very close. We have been a couple of times and were impressed with the friendly staff and quality of food. Our last visit was yesterday 5th August and we ordered Butter Chicken with Pershwari Nan and Chicken Kuruma with plain rice, both dishes were absolutely delicious and would say if you are attending a show call in here for a meal beforehand you will not be disappointed.

We got the worst possible kothu parota and chennai briyani; the chicken was very odorous and the briyani tasted like tomato rice mixed with some sort of tomato curry, I don’t have an option to give negative rating for the food

a shame that the dosa isn't gluten free vegan like its traditionally meant to be - nor do they have adequate alternatives for those with allergies

I was very impressed with the customer service there. I’ve visited this place with my friends. We’ve ordered gobi Manchurian, chilli paneer and noodles as starters. All of them were delicious and had authentic taste. For our mains, we’ve tried several dosas like rava masala dosa, ghee roast, mysore masala. The mysore masala and ghee roast were really nice. Rava masala dosa was quite hard tbh and the filling inside all the dosas were too less. The girl serving us did get us extra masala upon asking for the same. She even changed one of my friends rava masala dosa as it was hard as compared to the authentic ones. This was my second visit there. In my first visit we had paneer butter masala and naan. That was very tasty. Overall food is good..it’s a nice restaurant..good ambience and definitely great service. Food was good..

Great food and brilliant service

I went to the restaurant 2weeks ago with my daughter, it was my first visit and ordered Mysore masala dosa and paneer dosa. Both dosas were brought to the table very quickly after we put the order in (as if they already sitting there), looked very flat and tasted very soggy, samber had okra pieces in it that was very stringy and hard, chutneys were ok. But it wasn't as a dosa should be crispy and light. It was not a good experience, so probably better to stick with my old place. I was in on the 8July about 1:15 p.m No, I didn't speak as nobody came to ask how the food was. As far as your offer of visiting your kitchen is concerned that's not the solution, I'm only saying what I experienced.

Great Indian restaurant near the city centre that's worth checking out! It's a fairly quiet restaurant, prices are fairly cheap. There is a range of options for the menu. Do recommend the dragon chicken starter & Bajji starter too. Paneer curry is fantastic too. Service is great & staff are all friendly. 👍

Very good Food, but little pricey. You get almost all the Indian dishes from South Indian to North Indian. The Sambar is very good and worth having the Mysore masala Dosa

Love the lamb kothu parata there, the food was amazing the masala dosa tasted just like home 🏠 the chettinaddu chicken was just perfection.!!!!

I visited more than 10 times but the quality of food they served before was totally different now. Don't know chef changed or anything else but food taste is not good now.

Taste of Chennai is a place we have been going since its very start. I have even introduced the place to a lot of my friends. However, on a recent visit with my wife, we were met with exceptional bad service from the manager on duty there. So we ordered our usual and wanted to order some sweets and told one of the waiters to get us the menu again. The manager comes barging in with our bill instead asking us to leave the restaurant because someone else was waiting. We were not told in advance to finish our meal quickly and there were other seats vacant. That was such awful behaviour - absolutely despicable and would not recommend anyone go to Taste of Chennai again! We have also taken ours and friends' courtesy elsewhere now.

We visited this restaurant for a good indian breakfast on our visit to glasgow. Tried their mysore masala dosa and puri masala. The order took some good amount of time to be served. The masala (same for puri and dosa) and puri lacked flavour and salt, which was a major let down. Quantity was okay! Used their washrooms, which was neat. Overall experience wasn't great!

Very good place with good food and ambience Very kind staff and when i was searching the best place to eat Indian food, I found this place which gave a life to my died tongue,both vegetarian and non vegetarian was superb,Even the simplest dish uttapam was served with crispy onions and pure ghee which feels like heaven in Scotland climate for the final touch I tried filter coffee which was dam good as authentic kumbakonam coffee.., My overall experience was very good Best restaurant for eating food in Scotland. -Brajesh Kumar

Great hospitality! The moment we got our table, water was served. Without having to ask for it. That is such an Indian thing and so rare to find. Someone came to refill my glass of water as well, as soon as it was empty. It's just water but the thought counts. Food was great. Do visit

I booked this restaurant online for a group of 6 friends for a pre theatre dinner before heading to see a show at the Kings. Online I found the restaurant listed as Kama Sutra Indian Restaurant and my booking was accepted and I received a confirmation email. On arrival we noticed the name was now Chennai but my group was shown to our table and given menus. These did not include any pre theatre menu and when I asked about it and showed the waitress my booking she said they were now called Chennai and they didn’t do any pre theatre offers. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told there was no management in house at that time and more or less it was a case of “like it or lump it” We chose to lump it and left the restaurant and found a fabulous one further along called Glassy where the food was superb, the staff welcoming and a fantastic 3 course pre theatre dinner for £13.95. Chennai - get your act together and either stop taking bookings for a restaurant that you say doesn’t exist anymore but actually has the same phone number as yours. Or fix your online site so that customers know what to expect before they arrive.

We often visits this place, you will never go wrong with food selection. You have multiple cuisine menu even though the restaurant is branded as South Indian. The food quality is good, little oily but once a while it is ok. Ambiance is awesome and relaxing. Location is great as it located on most famous street on Glasgow. Spacious seating and comfortable too. Bathrooms are well maintenance. Service is also amazing, go on quieter times and you will have best time over there. Enjoy.

Food was undoubtedly good.. but the deserts are quite expensive I paid 7 pounds for one piece of Gulab jamun and one small scoop of vanilla ice cream ..
