Only popped in for a coffee but will be back for food. Spotless friendly and a quirky little place for lunch or coffee. Coffee was perfect for me

Called in earlier. Purchased a coffee and tuba mayo and cucumber sandwich to go. Just eaten it. Gorgeous. Tasty. Fresh. Just pure lovliness. The staff were lovely too. I'd certainly recommend this little gem of an eatery

Gorgeous meal and great service at Taste today. We had a soft drink as work break but waitress served them in gin glasses to cheer us up!! I had chicken kebabs and real chips.. my friends had a jacket potato and panini with chips.. all 3 meals were perfect. If you have not eaten or visited here yet what you waiting for???

Just had a great lunch with some friends again at Taste. Lovely atmosphere with a friendly welcome in a vintage setting. Really interesting decor and delicious food. Very fresh salads and homemade soup and jackets were enjoyed by us all. Specials available and there was a good choice of gluten free options available too. Happy cheerful staff! Thank you Angie!

Angie and Stancey are the best, they helped me out a lot, the food is amazing and delicious and the drinks are refreshing.

Just booked my wedding reception at taste after my sister had one here last week and it was brilliant

just been to taste,they do the best breakfast's i have ever had in Doncaster, Christmas decorations are lovely and will be back soon.

We went for lunch and this is a place where ladies do lunch. Having said that the staff were friendly if slightly disorganised. The food was mainly baked potatoes, paninis, baguettes and similar but nicely cooked and presented. I would not go back but my wife and daughter might drag me there as they loved it.

I had a great experience in this friendly cafe/bar. My first visit was to have a breakfast which suited me due to being recently diagnosed with coeliac disease. The staff were very receptive and helpful providing me with a safe meal which was beautifuly presented. On my second visit l had a gluten free cake with a large pot of fruit tea from their selection. It is a lovely place to relax with friends and on your own with the sounds of the 1940s playing in the background. The staff are amazing at making you feel welcome and looking after your needs. They are looking to provide more gluten free options which is great news! A must go for Coeliacs when in Doncaster.

Popped in for lunch with friends. Very taken with the forties theme in terms of decor and music, but glad that this didn't extend to the size of the meals. My friends both had shepherd's pie and I had the Italian meatballs with chips, salad and cous-cous. We ate it all but it we were all pogged, as they say in these parts. Excellent service and not at all expensive. The only tiny downside was that some of the food is not served on plates. I got my meatballs with tomato sauce in a lidded pot, which was fair enough, but the chips were in a small bucket and the rest on a flat wooden board. I suspect that very few in the Forties ate out of a bucket or off a board. To be fair, as soon as it was served the proprietor asked if I wanted a plate. I did. We will call again.

Booked table last Monday 26 for sat 3rd March. Explained was going to the theatre and they suggested 6pm. Turned up at 5.50 on Sat and the place was shut!!! Shutters down,no notice to explain why or apology!!! Thanks Taste for letting us know and then having the problem of finding somewhere to eat at that end of town with limited time!! Went to Zest, lovely food as always and squeezed us in. Thank you Zest

I went to Doncaster not expecting to find such an excellent restaurant. An unassuming frontage run by four charming English ladies. The food was excellent and the wine very reasonably priced. Cooked whilst you waited, some unusual dishes were available. Would recommend and go again when in Doncaster.

Doncaster doesn't appear blessed with good, local restaurants but this is so good I wouldn't look for anywhere else anyway. Excellent food, well cooked, pleasantly served what more could you ask for? Oh yes, incredibly low prices and a good bottle of wine.

6 of us went to the Taste Eatery tonight before we went to watch a production at Cast. Well what can I say? It was absolutely beautiful, from the food, to the venue, drinks and most importantly the wonderful staff. I shared a £9.95 platter with my sister and it was the perfect size for the two of us. Drinks were reasonably priced too, plus we got free cake as they had a special offer on. They even gave my sister a bowl of grapes as she was on a diet. A sheer hidden gem. So if you're looking for somewhere to eat before the show, look no further as it's literally a stones throw away from the theatre. Go on, give it a whirl; you won't regret it.

We called in after seeing an article in the Doncaster Free Press, the staff here are friendly and efficient , just had a bacon baguette and salad and the biggest pot of tea you've ever seen . the food was good and plenty of it , and very reasonably price . definitely be going back soon.

On the 8th September, Emma and the incredible team at Taste hosted my wedding recption and to put it simply, it was truly wonderful.

Stumbled across this lovely eatery one afternoon, the food was fantastic! Local produce and even stocked behind the bar. Loved the rhubarb & strawberry vodka we tried by Brittains made here in Doncaster Fabulous!

Been today for afternoon tea what great value and lovely food and service. Lovely surroundings too, would definitely recommend for fab food at a great price. And the leftover cake was taken away to enjoy later

I have been to Taste many times. The staff are excellent, the surroundings are comfortable, spotless and quirky. The food is simple but tasty and generous, they also have a liscense and serve good beers wines and cocktails. Brilliant venue for a party or event.

Dos amigos y yo tenía el té de la tarde en 2. 2. 2017. La comida y el servicio eran geniales. La tarta de limón era particularmente encantadora, justo el equilibrio perfecto de esponja luz, dulzura y fuerte de limón. El resto de las Tartas estaban muy bien también, incluido; un bollo, mermelada y crema de chocolate, brownies, pasteles de crema esponja victoria y millonarios shortcake. El precio era bueno también £9:99 y las 17:99 uno para dos. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo

I was on a day out to meet a friend in Doncaster and after looking around the Frenchgate Centre we decided to look for somewhere for a light lunch, preferably not part of a chain. After visiting the market area we then found ourselves in the Waterdale shopping precinct and happened upon Taste, where we were invited in .Upon entering it was apparent this was a different place. None of the furnishings or decor matched , it was really bizarre , but in a very pleasant way. It had a very welcoming feel to it.We were greeted with a very warm welcome.We both chose the grilled haloumi skewers, which were tasty, well cooked and presented beautifully. The service was attentive without being obtrusive and the staff were really friendly.On speaking to the manager when leaving she told us it was "not for profit" business offering work experience and training to youngsters not in mainstream education. It seemed to be working very well.The next time I visit Doncaster and am in need of food I will go here and recommend others to do so.

What a fabulous find in Doncaster. Friendly attentive staff and a kitchen serving lovely well presented food. The mushroom soup which was obviously home made was delicious. Taste has a charming and engaging style and I will certainly be returning.

Opposite Cast Theatre. Nice decor. Great for food and live music. Stayed very late! We will be back.

We have visited taste as a group on a number of occasions to celebrate birthdays. The lunch time menus never fail to disappoint along with great service.The staff at Taste are we feel brilliant ,nothing is to much trouble.its the extra touches that make it a lovely experience and a place we always look forward to re visiting.

I have visited Taste on numerous occasions for different reasons and will continue doing so. Nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere, the food, the staff are all great. I especially enjoy going to the Thursday night sessions, if you've never been you are certainly missing out. Live music, free food and all you have to do is buy a drink.If you were on your own you would never feel uncomfortable as everyone is made to feel welcome, its like an extended family.

Slightly quirky (in a good way) place with a menu that would be recognisable for people who want a cafe in a shopping centre and has some different options too.

Visited Taste for their sessions night last Thursday and saw the amazing Erin Bennett. Fantastic night, great atmosphere and brilliant free food! A must visit for a great night out!

Had a lunch here before a visit to Cast Theatre matinee. Quite busy when we arrived but managed to get seated at a table immediately. There is a basic menu with 3 mains on a special board.Our meal Bangers & Mash was very good, hot & well cooked, reasonably priced.Enjoyed our meal.

I have had lunch here and had an evening of music and merriment. Both times the. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Food was lovely and very good value for money.

Whilst visiting Doncaster on business, we where recommended to try Taste Eatery and where very pleased we did.It was late afternoon and was quiet but it felt very relaxing and the service we got was excellent.The coffee was great and the cakes very indulgent.Highly recommended!

I went here for my sisters birthday and accommodated to every persons needs. Very good with children as well. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere, I would go again any time. Food is great too.

Had afternoon High Tea today. The service was superb. The setting was lush with lots of glamour thrown in. We had plenty of finger sandwiches and an abundance of cake and scone deserts with fresh fruits. Very good atmosphere. Definitely will return to show it off to friends . Well done everyone. Lovely little venue. Good meals, lovely service. Perfect for lunch with friends and great in an evening when they have a live music night. The Waterdale needs more quality establishments like this if it's going to survive the regeneration that's planned in the civic quarter.

Came here with a friend last week on a recommendation. I thought the cakes were nice but I think they could do with having a better beer range- it would really bring in a better crowd. I'll be going back.

My second visit to this gem of a restaurant. Today killing time before an appointment so cuppa and cake required. Proper tea lovely in teapot plus homemade chocolate cake gorgeous. Service is friendly and efficient. We had cuppa & cake for £2:95 each. A bargain for homemade cake.

I love love love this place! Great food, lovely Staff, always an amazing atmosphere wether its in a morning for breakfast or on an evening for drinks and live music! Everyone should visit this place!

I have eaten here twice now, the first was for afternoon tea which was fabulous and the second for a lovely lunch I love everything about this place,the vintage decor,good service,the lovely staff and great food.The afternoon tea was delicious, gorgeous homemade cakes and sandwiches with prosseco,will defiantly be going back!

I must say this place has to be my number one spot to socialise with friends and meet new people. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. There's nothing they will not do to make your visit be the best it can be. The food is amazing! Modern and bespoke with a traditional twist. The decor is inviting and so cosy. You all must try the Taste Eatery. I have and now I'm happily addicted. Well done guys! ☺️

Don't be fooled by the brutal 1970s architecture outside. This is an oasis of good food and service, and a really nice ambience. They serve proper leaf tea and sublime home made cakes. The service is faultless and they obviously encourage live music, which is always a good sign. Recommended wholeheartedly, and I will seek it out again next time I am in Doncaster.

Walked past this place a couple of times and decided to give it a try today, glad we did! Lovely vintage decor, mismatched chairs etc. Greeted by a really friendly girl, who after taking our order, returned with a wooden cake and tea set for our 2.5 year old to play with whilst we waited for the food to arrive. Lovely touch and definitely helped to keep him entertained for a while! The food was very good, and great portion sizes, especially for the price paid. They were very accommodating in changing one of the dishes for my little boy. After we had finished our meals, we were brought over a piece of millionaires shortbread and a brand new Peppa Pig sticker and colouring set for our son. There are few places to eat in Doncaster that are as child friendly as this. We left the colouring set behind as we weren't sure if it was his to keep or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had been intended for him to take home.Fab little place and we'll definitely be returning!

Visiting Cast Theatre for a matinee performance required somewhere near theatre for a lunchtime meal.This is a nearly new venture for the proprietor and a first visit for us to this gem of an eatery. The food was absolutely lovely, well cooked and homemade chips which is a novelty these days. The service was great, friendly and the decor very good.I certainly will return whether visiting the theatre or not.

Visited today with a friend and our daughters (3 and 4) for something to eat after a show at cast. All the food was delicious including the cakes, very relaxed atmosphere and absolutely fantastic with the children. Loved the decor, all the cute little details and will definitely be visiting again.
