Great food, have visited many times and had a variety of dishes all faultless. The jerk chicken meal with ackee and saltfish and mac n cheese are to die for. It is a little slow as per previous comments but this is due to how popular it is. Don’t leave it too late either as they run out quickly. Guess it’s all cooked fresh and first come first served. You won’t be disappointed

This place is a must visit if you are in or around Aldershot and is craving for proper delicious home style Caribbean food. Everything on the menu was fantastic.

We’ve lived in Aldershot for three years and for some insane reason, this is the first time we’ve eaten at taste buds and oh my god, we’re now kicking ourselves for not having been sooner! Absolutely amazing food. We had the jerk chicken meal which comes with rice, peas and salad and the ribs with extra chips and every single morsel was fantastic. Will now be returning frequently. Excellent value for money too, and lovely service.

I finally got round to trying Going to Tastebuds after hearing about it a while ago! Well! It’s safe to say I will now be a regular customer and the guys will soon enough know my order and have it ready before I even get there to place the order ! I grew up with my nans Jamaican cooking but she sadly passed away too soon and I didn’t get her recipes ! The food I had from here on Friday took me right back to happy days !!! The lady who runs it is so lovely and the chef was just making me laugh , all I could hear was his sing song patois and when a plate dropped his voice from the back of the kitchen “ y’uh a ju’s come e’re an mashup “…….. hilarious !! I had the curry goat, plantain, and got myself some ackee and saltfish ( my favourite breakfast)…. And my god !! Perfection !!! Let’s not forget the coleslaw too…… next time I’m going to mix it up and try the fried chicken and maybe the brown fish !…… can’t wait ! Get your backsides there if you enjoy good food and a warm welcome with a homely feel with lovely people !!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Jah’ 🇯🇲

What a mint find! Having come from London where there are quite a few Carribean Food restaurants to eat at, this was stumbled on by my daughter...OMG Our happiness! If we fancy an authentic, delicious meal this is our go to now. Everything we have ordered has been spot on! Sometimes there is a queue but it's worth the wait. Good things always are! Kelly at the front of house is a charming, beautiful soul and the chef is in the back playing great choons whilst he creates his amazing meals. You can dine in or takeaway. It has a Carribean cafe vibe. Goat curry is one of my favourite curries and from Taste Buds I find it spot on! Try it, you won't be disappointed for sure!

We are so lucky to have this fabulous restaurant on our doorstep. The food is so flavoursome and authentic, its simply superb, highly recommend.

This was our first visit to Taste buds, and very impressed. First appearances when you enter are a bright clean looking premises. There are plenty of tables if you are eating in. The menu has a good choice of classic Caribbean dishes. The proprietors are nice genuine people and the food is tasty and well prepared. Highly recommended

Tastebuds provide not just food, but an amazing gastronomical experience. I love every bite I take there, I can't wait for lockdown to be finished so I can sit down and enjoy the meals with the awesome music selection curated by the chef.

Generous portions and loud ambiance. This seems to be a take-away business with a few tables for those with time to linger. My son met them at a Food Fair in Manor Park and has been a regular since then.

I have used Taste Buds now for about 3 month's and have always had the Jerk Chicken as was nervous about trying new dishes. Firstly I have to say that the Jerk Chicken is absolutely amazing but this time I had the Oxtail and Stew Chicken and everything is just so good, you can't fault it. Each of the dishes came with the rice and peas which I also love and if you want to be really indulgent why not try a piece of the homemade lemon drizzle cake, it is scrummy. Delicious food cooked and served by the friendly owners. Can't recommend highly enough.

We were told about Taste Buds by a colleague and we've been there at least 4 times in the last 2 months or so. The food is excellent and great value for money. Tasty & plenty. The place is clean and the owners are lovely. Kelly & Dave are such great hosts. The atmosphere is relaxed. We've had the goat curry, oxtail, jerk pork & chicken, bbq chicken, brown chicken stew, prawns and not to forget the delicious sweet potato fries. All the mains are served with rice & peas, slaw or sauted cabbage & carrots. Our American friends also loved it. We will keep going back. Thank you Kelly & Dave.

Really Tasty Caribbean Food, cafe style restaurant. Great place if you want gerat fast food outside the normal burgers, indian chinese etc. I had a very tasty traditional Goat Curry served with Rice N Peas and Fried Vegetables with Sweet potato Fries as a side. Recommended by my son who has been a few times before, I'm certain I'll be going back.

This is a reply to a customer who left a review because he turned up at my restaurant on the 18th August and we were shut because we were on holiday from the 12th August- 30th August 2019. There was 2 clear signs displayed to the public so really I don’t understand why this person would had left a review when he had not even had food at the restaurant. Every single person is entitled to have time off now and then especially those whom work extremely hard doing a minimum of 12 hours per day. We accept all reviews both good and bad, providing that they are fair and not malicious. The best food in Aldershot hands down proper authentic food, everything tastes amazing and always happy to serve you

Wonderful service and awesome food. Tastes very authentic and is a nice change from the standard indian/asian/italian options. Particularly liked the brown stew. Will definitely be back. Only slight concern is opening times seem a bit erratic.

Vibrant atmosphere. Very clean. The food was so fresh and tastie. I even had a lush pudding to follow.

Turned up at 20.30 last Friday assuming they’d be open until 10pm going by TripAdvisor. Sign on the door says they close @ 9pm every night. But place was shut up tight and lights all off at 8.30pm on a Friday night! If they can’t be bothered to stay open within their advertised times, I can’t be bothered to try going back.1* only because I can’t give them none. No comment on their food, just their business acumen.

Spent the day in the Aldershot area, and was after somthing diffrent for dinner.

In search of my favourite Goat curry, on the bone, and was not disappointed.Very busy and appeared to be only one front of house and one cook, but I might have visited on a short-staffed day! Friendly and obviously well liked by people eating there and coming in to take out lunches. Just wish it was nearer to me as I would take out every day! Will visit again soon to try out something else.

This place is great. You can eat in or take out, but if you eat in and want to drink alcohol then you need to bring your own drinks. Every time the chicken is full of flavour and at a great price. Love this place!

I visited tonight and ordered a large jerk chicken, large oxtail and some sides. This is easily some of the best Caribbean food I have ever tasted!!! The chicken was smoky and sweet and fell off the bone, my partner said the oxtail was delicious!!! The portions were very generous and the service was quick and friendly. Based on tonight’s meal I have decided I will be asking Taste Buds to cater my wedding :)

My son hired this wonderful couple to cater for his 30th birthday 3 years ago, having been a customer of theirs for a while. Up until that time I had not experienced Caribbean food.

The food here is amazing the rice is so tasty and the BBQ chicken is probably the best iv ever had. And its superb value as well one of the best takeaways for miles around also must be one of the healthiest takeaway options with little or no fat so its a win win .

It was my first touch with Caribbean food and it was great! I loved the atmosphere of family that you can feel, also the reggae music in the background. Staff is very friendly. I had a fried fish with coconut rice and other delicious sides. Highly recommendable.

Amazing jerk chicken,full of flavour,chicken fell off the bone,rice n pea was full of flavour with splashes of some wonderful jerk sauciness,pickled veg was nice and tangy, plantain was thick and well cooked, dumplings were perfect! CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK...Great portion and fairly priced

Having read the reviews I was really keen to try out this place. We went with some of our friends on Saturday night and were made to feel very welcome. We ordered the mixed menu which provided a 4 different dishes to share between the five of us! We absolutely loved the food - goat curry; pork; jerk chicken and oxtail. Each was provided with an individual portion of rice and peas and some plantain. Portion size was good and we ate our fill. The restaurant itself is not pretentious but that only adds to the charm.

Weird that one of those days you just suddenly fancy something different- I really fancied some caribbean food last month and had no idea taste buds existed until I googled it and found they are a couple of miles away- totally random!

Having been living out of the uk for the past 3 years I’ve found it hard to find good West Indian food, the majority of the time it’s been generic and bland tasting, something which Caribbean food should not be. On arrival back on home soil, I decided to look online and see what food was around my current location. The usual Chinese, Indian, kebab, fish and chips. But what’s this 9 mile away? A little Jamaican diner/takeaway...

Simple, authentic and very tasty. Will definitely be going back again soon. No Alcohol served but probably ok to take your own, will be asking next time.

Theres not many Caribbean places in this area but taste buds makes up for it. Great quality food, good variety. Definitely worth trying.

Me and my partner come here as often as possible due to how good both the food and the service is! Kelly and Dave make the best rice and peas I’ve tasted, and their jerk chicken is next to none! Authentic, friendly and just incredible. I’d drive hours for this meal but luckily I’m local!

This is a fairly ordinary cafe not much else to say but the food is amazing and cheap, don't judge a book by its cover, came recommended and did not disappoint

The food is out of this world the real taste of jamaica, I drive 45 minutes each way to get my food the atmosphere is amazing you always feel welcome and they are so funny. I love it so much that I get them to do my Birthday party every year. Best Jamaican food by far and top quality service. Its not easy to get good proper Jamaican food in this country that is the only place I go to when I want Jamaican food. I haven`t got a bad word to say about Taste Buds....

I cannot fault this amazing find whatsoever. The owners are funny and lovely, and their food is very reasonably prices for the quality and quantity you receive. Definitely recommend the jerk chicken meal (I have it without veg or coleslaw). Never had a bad experience here and will continue to visit whenever I can!

My daughter and l love Caribbean food and had takeaways several times from Taste Buds and they have always been excellent. I recently turned vegan as this closes lots of doors food wise I thought I would struggle to have anything to eat that wouldn’t be a disappointment. But having told the friendly lady whom I assume to be the owner of my plight, I was soon eating a plate of delicious food, no jerk in sight but non the less, beautifully seasoned vegetables with rice and peas, and fried plantain. My daughter fell silent whilst eating her goat curry and then declared it to be “bangin”.There is no bigger compliment.Great food, good people.

Now This little place has been around around 10yrs so you know you're getting the real deal. Tasty Jamaican grub. The curry goat..Excellent!! For me it has to be the fried chicken/BBQ chicken and rice. Big boots of chicken, loads of rice, fantastic value for money. Add some hot sauce and you're running like Usain Bolt to get home and eat it.

We went here for a very tasty and freshly cooked jerk chicken and pork. Service was very polite, the food delicious . Excellent value for money.

Este es uno de nuestros favoritos para llevar en la zona. Sólo es a menudo puede vender y colección de platos temprano, así que si estás buscando algo en particular, luego ir temprano! La comida es consistentemente sabroso. Mi personal más destacado es el estofado de pollo marrón. El único problema que tengo es que parece que tienen bastante inconsistente apertura días/horas que puede conducir a la decepción cuando estamos planeando visitar y encontrar cerrado.

I cant even express in words how good my last meal here was. I had the chicken and pork jerk with rice and peas. It hit every note on my taste buds just like the name says. Highly highly recommended.

Not from the area, actually from Manchester but work away down here often. Always manage to get myself to the shop to spice the week up. Foods delicious and also a good portion size. Also fast service, i know a couple Caribbean takeaways up manchester take a long time serving, theres no rushing the chef.

Craving the goat curry as I'm writing this now. Maybe will pop in tomorrow for the nth time. Definitely recommend to one and all. If you've ever tried Jamaican rice and peas or goat curry or fried chicken or chicken curry or fish fry or are willing to try these you will LOVE this place.

Went there after a beer for some jerk chicken. Having been to Jamaica it tasted pretty damn authentic and tasty. Was the only white person in there and felt friendly. Would recommend

We went there for a Friday meal and were not sure what to order so we tried bit of everything that was in the menu! The food was amazing and cooked with love! We didn't left a piece of rice on the plate! If you driving pass that place - you have to stop and try it now! I will be back for more with my family. Keep doing what you doing guys!

Honestly some of the best Caribbean food I have had in the UK. The owners are great and the food is delicious - I love the jerk chicken and the barbecued chicken. I would highly recommend this place. We also had some banana cake - honestly the best banana cake I've ever eaten.

I went here on Monday craving some jerk chicken and it was shut ... It's open every other day of the week apart from the one I wanted so I went yesterday and had the biggest most amazing dinner jerk chicken rice peas veg the salt fish and akee is amazing ... Was well worth driving from Farnham for, the best jerk chicken rice and peas ive had in 25 years, am already planning my next trip back.

Just thing this place is the mut nuts cheap and you get loads of food plus tje dumpling have juat got bigger take two to work every day its a must to anybody how fancys a change .

We tried the goat curry, the chicken curry, the fish and the plantain and loved it all! Brought back fond memories from when we had visited Jamaica and loved every minute there. Wonderfully authentic home cooked food served with a smile!! We will be returning frequently.

Tiny little tucked away, cafe type food place, no fancy signs or much advertisement as the food speaks volumes very modest but homely decor. A friend recommended this place and I'm so glad we went! The jerk and bbq chicken was absolutely gorgeous. The accompaniments were also yummy! Staff were so happy and lovely. Will definitely be going again!

This is one of my favourite places to grab some food. For the price, I don't think you could ask for more. I'm never disappointed with my food when I eat from here. As a couple, my partner and I eat out in many different places. Our expectations are quite high. Taste buds exceeds expectations.

The exterior impression of Tastebuds, with a table layout not dissimilar from a school canteen, had always dissuaded me from trying it out. This was most foolish. The menu inside is short, contained on a small chalkboard but everything is home cooked and you can tell. The staff are very friendly and the food is without doubt the best Caribbean food in the area. This may seem like damning with faint praise but after eating there I feel justified in saying it is one of the best places to dine in Aldershot. They offer dine in (no licence but you can bring your own liquor) or takeaway. They also offer a delivery service over £15. One thing they could improve on is disseminating there menu online.I ordered the goat curry but as there was not enough of the current batch left to fill a portion, and the new batch was not quite ready, I was offered a serving of jerk chicken to make up the difference. Best of both worlds as I was told and as it proved to be.The food was quite simply incredible. Full of flavour and the meat was very tender. The portions are huge with a large serving coming in at £7 including rice, beans and Jamaican veg. It was comfortably enough for me to handle and left me full but satisfied.Simply put 5 stars. Would definitely recommend.

I had a serious cough and was unable to cook. The first place that came to mind was Taste Buds. I ordered oxtail and sweet potato chips. It was delicious. The food was great but Dave and Kelly were awesome company. I laughed so hard and when I got home, I felt better.

Can't fault it, it was Very tasty, authentic food! dont go in expecting a 5 star sit down meal its more of a cafe atmosphere but very tasty!

When you go to a restaurant, you want your tummy to be satisfied, this restaurant did! Try the chicken jerk and the sweet banana. There could've been more improvement in the interior but that may mean a price increase. They do takeaways and delivery within a certain distance.

Best restaurant in the world. No exaggeration, highly recommended from everyone who has been. Sugar Dumplin & Turtle Bay are not in the same league ! Get in your car and go now.

I have to say that this place is a blessing. Tired of burger king and pizza etc?? I have no reservation.the food is always fresh and hot!!! The only draw back is that they need another worker to help out.

Came here for a bite to eat the night before we were due to go on holiday. It was the best Caribbean food I've tasted. My Jamaican husband was particularly impressed too and reminded him of home. Even though we live in Winchester we Will definitely be coming back for more curried goat and jerk chicken!

Whack on some Bob Marley , chug a can of Red Stripe and skank on down for authentic Carribean food , you can also eat in and take your own booze if you want , we had jerk chicken, goat curry ,jerk pork and mac and cheese all were fantastic , if I'm honest jerk is sometimes quite hot for some palates , but here they have it about right all the flavour without too much heat .They also cater for parties which would be a great twist on catered food.They deliver if you are lucky enough to live within 4 miles,it's a real change and completely different from any other takeaway around here , you will like the difference!

Love this place. Took my daughter there and she liked it so much she took two takeaways back for the next day. This is a no frills family run business that serves the best curry goat I've ever eaten and the jerk pork is fantastic. The quality of the food is always good whatever the day or time. Yes you may have a wait during busy times but that is to be expected given the few staff. Be patient, it's well worth the wait

I've never had a bad meal here, the only real negative they have is service, due to the fact that it's only run by two people. Once in a while there's a third person who helps out. Decent portions and fantastically cooked meals, this is not a fast food restaurant, you're getting a home cooked meal.

We visited Taste Buds upon a recommendation from a friend. The food was fantastic and staff were friendly. We had a take away but there are plenty of tables if you want to eat in. We will definitely be returning for more!

You just don't get better than this place. The food is amazing and so flavorsome, this is a frequent visit for me. The portions are really good and great value for money. The guys that run this place are also great. Great food, great service and value for money, what more do you want?

The food at Taste Buds really does have to be tasted to be believed. I have taken several trips here (20miles away from my home address) and tried virtually every item on their small, but perfectly tuned menu. The chicken is barrel-cooked in true Jamaican style with a good amount of heat that is often lacking in other Jerk outlets. Choose from fresh plantain, dumplings, spicy rice or amazing sweet-potato fries- all cooked fresh to order and served with an array of in-house sauces. The curried goat is also a real show-stopper. Seek this place out- you will not be disappointed. Take a slice of cake home too - as you won't have room for it after your meal!

These lovely people did the catering for a friends wedding recently and we were so impressed at how tasty it was. Really lovely flavours and a variety of dishes went down a treat! I will be having regular take aways from here for sure. Thanks again

Great food, simple menu and supremely casual. Family run, friendly enough even at the end of what sounded like a busy day of external catering. Think Cafe and not Michelin Restaurant. I had fried fish which was divine. Could have had goat, oxtail, chicken, pork or beef - as far as I could make out all served with rice/beans and coleslaw. Wanted to push boat out on a variety of dishes but menu doesn't lend itself to that so I guess I'll be going back for more!

I picked up some curried chicken tonight it is was fantastic I can't believed I haven't been here before having lived in Farnham for 10 years. The spice is good chicken cooked to perfection and accompaniments where very tasty. This place puts turtle bay in Guildford to shame. It's just a shame they had no sweet potato fries available but that gives me something to looks forward to next time. Friendly service and excellent value for money and highly recommend especially if you want that authentic taste

The outwardly and inwardly rather down-at-heel "we're still stuck in the 80's" greasy spoon appearence does tend to hide what without doubt continues to be one of Aldershot's best eateries. Jamaican food at sensible prices. The goat curry is excellent, as is the jerk chicken. I had rice and beans with the goat curry tonight and the spicing was just spot on. Seemed fairly busy with people coming and going which on a Tuesday evening is pretty good. The three of us had a main and soft drink each and the bill came in at just over £25, which given the tasty food we'd just had, all agreed it was excellent value. The service is excellent, friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. Final word on the ambience: it it tries to conjure up a small slice of Jamaica and if you add retro, you're close. We will definitely be coming back.

We were looking for somewhere different to eat and found this place on Tripadvisor. The restaurant is very small - only about six tables but on a Tuesday evening it was quite lively with a good age mix. Not ever having had Caribbean food before we asked for recommendations and the very friendly lady serving nudged us towards their Jerk Chicken and a fish dish which apparently was a Jamaican National Dish. Both were really tasty and portions were large. My only criticism is that it was a bit salty for my taste. Don't be put off by the decor the food and welcome more than make up for it.

We were the only people eating at lunchtime. My OH had goat curry, rice & side. A satisfying portion which he enjoyed. I had jerk chicken and sweet potato fries, as they had no ordinary ones available. It was OK, far too many fries for one person. a disappointing choice of drinks, no diet coke. would have been nice to have some music playing, instead we had the owner on her phone giving relationship advice via head phones the WHOLE time we were in there, including when she served us. apart from the notice board showing a list of some of what they do, we weren't offered any info, even though it was clear we had not been in before.

Read the reviews, so was expecting a lot more, but found it to be average . Just a little disappointed.

I took my project team here three times over two different trips and we had the menu - jerk chicken, curry goat, fish, plantains, oxtail, everything almost. All was delish. Authentic. Well seasoned. Very tasty food all around. Place is small - about 6 tables total. Unpretentious. Dated seating. Very friendly staff. Attentive service. Worth the short walk from the hotel / B&B.

We went for the first time on Saturday evening and the food was soooooo good, I had to get a take away as well. It was really well cooked, had loads of flavour and tasted like proper home cooking. We live over an hour away and we are already planning our next trip.

Really good Caribbean food. Well priced menu. Plenty of choice. Great flavours. We drive half hour to go to Taste Buds and it's worth it. Have recommended it to friends and highly recommend it to everyone.

Ordered food for 14 people. We had fish, jerk chicken, rice and peas, fried chicken, curry goat and callaloo. The food was excellent. The jerk was the best! The food was not dry and was seasoned and cooked well. There were no complaints from my Jamaican parents! We are having another family gathering soon - looks like we will be ordering again.

We both had jerk chicken meals and a fruit juice which were quickly served. The place is unpretentious; chalk board menu and cafe style tables with a communal kitchen vibe.The food was excellent, although the jerk wasn't as hot with chilli heat as I was expecting. It did have great depth of flavour. The rice was well cooked, slightly sticky and well spiced and the steamed vegetables were lovely. Would recommend if you're looking for authentic cuisine.

I tried this place last summer and things may have changed. . Hopefully. The Jerk chicken wss BBQ'd and I would give that 5/5! However the rice was not long grain or basmati. It was the short fat grain that you get in a microwaveable Uncle Bens packet. This make the rice heavy and doesn't balance well. There was bbq sauce put on the meal - yuk! The better carribean establishments use their own jerk sauce like Cafe Caribbean in Spitalfields market - that sauce is amazing! Their was bad language being used by staff whilst their own staff/staff's family members children were there - I don't appreciate that.

I used Dave and Kelly's cafe, takeaway and delivery service on many occasions when I lived in Farnham.However since moving out of the area I noticed something missing... As I was visiting my brother last night and as soon as he suggested takeaway I had no hesitation in shouting for the Tastebuds menu.Keenly priced, even cheap compared to curry or Chinese we paid less than £20 for 2 very generous large jerk chickens which had all the depth of flavour from slow cooked bbq'ing that you'd expect. Chicken falling off the bone, spicy sticky sauce all deliciously mingling with rice n peas & veggies.Add to that two sides of Mac n cheese and coleslaw and we were stuffed.The thing I like about it the most is that it is genuine home cooked food that the local West Indians all dig into. Dave is a genius chef in my opinion and his standard have not dropped.You want fine dining go for Michelin stars. You want something tasty, delicious, filling and lip smackingly good... Go see Tastebuds and give Dave and Kelly some respect!Ps Dave delivered the food himself last night and we had a good chat, one of the friendliest guys ever!

Went here after reading the reviews, I was not disappointed the food was great and the cook very helpful and guided us through the menu. I had the jerk pork with rice an peas v.big portions came out very satisfied good price too. Will be going back.

First of all - if people of the culture are happy to buy this food then you know it's the real deal!My main complaints when buying Jamaican food from restaurants have been that its all a bit commercialised to widen profit margin: the flavour can be a bit watered down, too oily or poor seasoning over compensated with a lot of spicy pepper.I can confidently put your mind at ease and let you know that you will not find that to be the case in this family restaurant.It is a ran by a husband and wife that prepare authentic Jamaican food that you would only genuinely find in Jamaica. I have to appreciate that they serve only what they would eat for themselves which is a rarity these days as most Chinese/Indian places will fill half your dishes with gravy or random veg you never asked for.You know that dish you love and only your Mum or Nan can make it like that? Well this is on a par that home cooked comfort food that will keep you coming back for more.I would recommend all items on the menu, but if you are unsure as to what you would like the server/hostess Kelly has always been very helpful some things may be more suited if you prefer meat off the bone, more spice, less spice etc.The chef Dave is a character! Clearly very passionate about the quality of food that he produces which again can fill you with confidence in knowing you’re in the right place.I have been a customer since opening and have not recalled a price increase yet portion sizes are still very generous - how much is deep fried fish and chips these days?I recommed the house punches (if you are lucky enough to catch them in the cooler get another for the next day, I always do!) and the jerk anything (chicken or pork) most places 'jerk' the meat in the oven - fact is that is not even possible. Jerk is done in a jerk BBQ the best I've tasted outside of Jamaica so def worth gettign the meal or sharing a portion to experience it.Reading other reviews, I also think it's worth a comment on atmosphere. I have never had an issue myself and think that the music, chatting etc is what I would prefer to a silent shell. Friendly family, fabulous food give it a go!
