Taste in Harrogate

Although the food was OK it does make it painful to have to go to the cash machine to pay, the only reason anyone has cash only policy is either ignorance of business or the avoidance of being accountable. What is saved in card fees is more than lost in non repeat business by a huge margin. I wasn’t offered bank transfer or PayPal?

Just collected my takeaway only to be told at the point of sale that they are cash only. After highlighting that it would have been courteous to have been told this prior to the point of payment I was told by the front of house member of staff that she couldn’t be expected to tell every person who called ‘we are cash only’. Given the current pandemic and push towards cashless transactions, I personally don’t think it unreasonable to be told that they are solely cash only business. The member of staff also had the audacity to say ‘there’s no need to be rude!’ When spending £50.00 on a takeaway, am I being unreasonable to expect a cashless payment option? Given the customer experience, I definitely will not be using this establishment again and will not be recommending it to others. Hopefully the staff members involved will take this interaction as a learning experience into customer relations.

We were so glad to find Taste when we moved to ripon. We always order from the vegan options and we love how much choice there is! The mock duck in black bean and the pad Thai are two of our favourites. We were excited to see all the new vegan options added recently and we tried the new vegan chicken satay skewers and they were delicious. The satay sauce was so so good! We will definitely make sure to try more too.We’ve used both the collection and delivery service and the food is always hot and ready to eat. We would highly recommend taste and thank you so much for having such varied and tasty vegan options!After writing this review I know we’ll be ordering later. Thank you, Emily and Tom

This was the nicest Chinese takeaway I've ever had! We live about 6 miles away and used the delivery service. We preordered in the afternoon and the order was correct, delivered on time and still cooked perfectly (Chips still crispy and food hot).We ordered four mains and there were no complaints! I'd recommended the Honey Sesame Chicken - it was UNREAL!

I'm veggie and coeliac and it's always easy for me to get something to eat here. Service is always fantastic and it's a great price. The food is really tasty too! Looking forward to my next meal.

The food is great here. We're a mix of vegetarians and meat eaters. All well catered for. A take away from here is a real treat!

We ordered a takeaway form Taste Chinese while we was staying at the Ivy Bank Campsite. There are 2 delivery time slots to get your Chinese delivered to the campsite so we decided to go and pick it up ourselves. There was quite a few of us and the order came to just over £150, even tho it was quite a big order all the food was correct, hot and tasted great. I would definitely recommend this takeaway if you are staying in the area.

Thanks for a fantastic meal last night , we had a family sized munch box and totally stuffed ! Staff really nice to deal with letting us change the chicken wings to chicken pieces ( children don’t like eating from the bone ) Lovely service too we rang just after 5 and collected at 6:15 then shared in the garden in the sunshine , a great alternative to a bbq.

After receiving appalling customer service tonight (for an extremely large lockdown order) I will never have a take away from here again. It is such a shame that this is the only thing that lets you down Taste!

A fortnight ago, we fancied a treat, and selected Taste. As soon as we telephoned, the lady told us that there was a two hour wait (we didn;t mind waiting! and appreciated being told this at the beginning of the call) We ordered Chicken and Chips and Beef curry. Delivery was spot on at the time and food all nice and hot.The Chicken was so tender and had nice flavourings. The Beef was nice and tender too and large portion size. Highly recommend. Only reason why not a 5/5 is delivery charge was added on but not made aware of this. When raised this query, the lady said it was on the website but have looked many times and asked others to see if they can see it - and noone has been able to see it.

We’ve visited taste a few times and the two girls on the front are always so helpful and professional with smiles on their faces. However, unfortunately the last couple of time’s we’ve been the older gentleman who’s been working the front beside the girls seems to try and take over from them, where he’s given us the wrong change and then tried to give us the wrong order even though one of the girls told him that wasn’t our order and he completely ignored them thinking he knew best then earlier this week I came in and I was having a conversation with one of the girls and he kept talking over them which to me seemed rude. I hope this can be rectified because the food is delicious and the girls are lovely and I do hope to return in the future.

Never had a bad takeaway from here. Tried all the chinese takeaways in ripon, and have to say this one is the best.

We ordered a takeaway for a birthday occasion and the food was superb! Being a mix of meat eaters, vegan & veggie family this is truly a gem of a place to find since it can accomodate all of our needs! Quite unusual! Their menu offers so much choice and the quality of food is fantastic. We love the crispy mock duck with pancakes, thats a real treat. Every dish is available in a veggie option, even the fried rice can be done without egg. Great selection of dishes, fabulous customer service and the tastiest food! The best Chinese takeaway around. Thank you Taste, we will definitely see you again very soon.

During lockdown we are having a takeaway a week and last we'll I went to taste. Service was amazing and my food was ready in 15 mins. They have so many great veggie and gluten free options it was a real treat! Looking forward to another takeaway soon :)

Excellent customer service and the food was wonderful. Portion sizes are big. Squid cooked perfectly, the beef curry was to die for and the chicken batter balls are enormous! We will deffinately be back thank you. Sorry I didn't take any pictures it was just too yummy.

Have been using this takeaway regularly as it really is the best in ripon, food is always lovely (there has been mistakes a few times with meals missing but this has always been rectified straight away) the 2 girls I have seen on the desk are the most helpful and friendliest however the staff in the kitchen need to keep there voices down and not have arguments and certainly not swear when there are customers in the shop. Also the Chinese lady who I can only presume is the manager (apologies if not) your customer skills are shocking and the way you speak to other members of staff appalling. I would have loved to have given a 5 star rating as everything else is perfect and we love the fact that you offer so many gluten free meals for our daughter so she can enjoy Chinese food to. Ordered a takeaway for delivery from here at 6.20pm on a Saturday evening. We were expecting a wait under the current climate but were never informed of a time it would be ready by. After 90 minutes we called to see where it he food was. We were told 30 minutes away.Still didn’t arrive by 8.35pm which was another 45 minutes so we enquired for the third time on whereabouts and on 3rd call cancelled as the girl was extremely rude. Will never order from here again. Shame as the food is nice.

It's worth my drive from Harrogate to Ripon and back just for their takeaway.I'm vegetarian (not vegan), and their Mock Duck and Mock Pork choices are what drew me in.I've been back several times now, and the food has been consistently scrummy.If you're vegetarian and like reasonably priced and quickly served Chinese takeaway, this is the best place in a 50 mile radius that I've found thus far.Every dish I've had from them has been delicious - never a disappointment.Fast in, fast out, and the woman at the till is very kind.

Really recommend the spring rolls! Absolutely beautiful. You can tell there has been skill that's gone into these meals- loved the salt n pepper chips too. The only thing I'd say is that the staff need to be a bit kinder to eachother, I know it's a tough time at the moment but be kind especially in these times. It's amazing you guys do vegetarian and vegan options too as this helps cater for more people so thank you for being awesome! Definitely would return but please please just be a bit kinder to eachother- especially in front of customers❤️

Ordered a takeaway at weekend after seeing they had vegan options. We ordered Quorn balls and they were amazing! Everything was hot and tasted fresh, not dry. And to top it off we got free spring rolls! Really impressed with quality and flavour. Would highly recommend and can't wait to try more dishes

The best Chinese food I have ever tasted. My family and I ate from here on Wednesday evening, and it was beautiful! Fast service and delicious food! Can not wait to have another!

Great menu and excellent service. First choice for Chinese takeaway in Ripon. Ring in the order or go in and within 10 minutes lovely food.

If you like eating at Bambudda, which I do, then you are able to buy the same dishes in takeaway form from Taste. Delicious! .

Grey Chicken. Salt and pepper Chicken wings smelt off. Sweet and Sour Balls were revolting. One of us who eats anything was sick. Been here a few times but won’t be returning.

Lovely, good quality food and fairly priced. Staff are very polite. Well worth a visit if you fancy a decent Chinese takeaway!

Mixture of Chinese,Thai and Malay dishes. Use as little sugar and fat as possible. Good flavours. Sometimes have longish wait if busy.

I ordered takeaway from here tonight for the first time and am very happy to recommend it. Very hot and fresh, plenty of Vegetables and superb portions. I will definitely be ordering again from taste. Very good value for money.

This is a takeaway that belongs to the same chain as a Chinese restaurant near to the Cathedral. The food is good, and some really different Chinese dishes, not to be found on some other menus. There is a lot of (chilli) hot stuff, so be careful what you order. But otherwise, it is great.

Fab food, the best tasting Chinese. Wouldn’t go anywhere else and plenty to share, highly recommended!!

Every time I have a takeaway, I instantly have it from here literally the best meal I’ve had and always is served with the best quality and standards. The desk is always helpful and friendly and the food is ready quickly. Recommend anything with OK sauce and salt and pepper chicken is to die for.

Decided to try this place because our usual place (next door) was closed. We were a little unsure about the menu, but on the front it says "we will explain it too you". When asked to explain what I considered ordering, I was greeted with "I don' know, I have never tasted it". So I asked what type of sauce it was? Same answer! When I pointed out the statement on the front of the menu, I was told I was being rude. After being told this several times, I walked out and went to the Double Luck just down the road.

Tasty Chinese food at a reasonable price easily the best Chinese takeaway in Ripon. Only downside is they don't deliver, and as none do in Ripon, they are missing a trick.

Had a takeaway after seeing some great reviews we got a big box meal to share with the family. It was just bland. Not much flavour at all to be fair. Tiny pots of sauce for amount of food too. We love Chinese we would probably give it another go to be honest because service was absolutely fine. We just may have got a bad day cook wise.

Tried this takeaway after mixed reviews from friends, we were excited by the large menu and range of dishes. Order included black bean tofu, oyster sauce beef, Chinese chicken curry and cashew veggie stir fry. Unfortunately all the sauces were very watery and food was quite bland. Disappointing after such a promising menu.

We had a take away on Friday and it was top notch. There was so much food that I've just had what was left for my tea 2 days later.

We have two other Chinese take always in ripon and taste always come out at the top in my view. Completely different taste to the other two. I have tasted the munch fix on a few occasions and I never know what to eat first, just lovely.

This is my local takeaway. Although Ripon has several takeaways this is the best one.

My partner and I use the taste take away whenever he's home from London. We love the fact that this take away has moved in to the 21st century. Munchie boxes are a fabulous idea, all the picky bits that everyone loves and at a great price. The food is always fresh and you can tell only quality ingredients have been used. Staff are more than happy to help and service is quick. We love taste and it has replaced our usual Chinese take away.

Had a beef curry and chips from Taste on Saturday 5th May,it was amazing I enjoyed the flavours so much best ever curry take away I have had

More newly opened than other Chinese takeaways in Ripon but with fresher flavours - less MSG and also choice of Thai dishes and gluten free options.

I had Singapore vermicelli, my mate chicken in black bean sauce. Both were excellent. Our order was taken by a very smart friendly chap, the shop/counter area was so clean I wondered if it was a newly opened establishment. Both our meals were very tasty, bursting with plenty of fresh good quality ingredients. And value for money. Excellent in every way. Thank you Taste.

I ordered sweet and sour Cantonese tofu and fried rice. Service was efficient and the food was fresh and tasty. Vegetables were still slightly crunchy and rice appeared fresh and not reheated. Good value and friendly staff. It stated all sauces were vegetarian too.
