Oh dear! NOT what it was...not even close. 4 (tiny) olives in a bowl ... all a bit of joke really. Terrible value (prices have doubled and portions have halved: do the maths!). And the flavours were all just not quite right. (Sliver of siverfoil in kofta was the crowning glory). AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Eek. What’s happened to Tas? It used to be a reliable, cheap(ish) place for tasty Mediterranean food at all hours, useful for something before or after a play or film. Now it’s overpriced, with stale food, zero atmosphere, BUT charming staff. Is it a franchise now, maybe? The branch near Borough Mkt was great last time I went.. (about 2 years ago admittedly). There, we had really delicious, freshly prepared and plentiful food and it seemed much better value. Some of what we were served last night (vegetarian mezze dishes) was inedible and unpleasant. I think the waiting staff knew .. they didn’t ask. It was pretty empty too, on a Friday evening.

Excellent ! Coming with family for lunch on December 24, we were not disappointed with our discovery. The dishes are excellent and tasty, we enjoyed ourselves! The prices are affordable, especially if you take the lunch menu, although the drinks are expensive. Important point to note: the menu contains many options for vegetarians and gluten-free diets. The staff is very kind and cares about customer satisfaction! In short, we will definitely come back during our next stay in London!

Dreadful food. Ordered the falafel - was dry and greasy at the same time and tasted like it had been fried in the same oil used for meat. Tasteless hummus. Small portions at a very over inflated price tag. It was almost £19 for a plate of falafels with a “salad” that was just a few pieces of pickled cabbage. The chips we ordered were greasy and tasteless. By far and away the worst Turkish food I’ve had in London.

We were extremely disappointed with both the food and service. The selection of Meza we ordered was terrible and didn’t resemble authentic Turkish dishes at all. It seemed like the chef had no understanding of Turkish cuisine, as the food quality and taste were shockingly bad. The service was inattentive, missing simple details and lacking attention. If you’re looking for good Turkish food, avoid Tas. The dishes are tasteless and poorly made. This restaurant definitely needs better management and a skilled chef.

I’m not sure where to begin, as both the food and service were equally disappointing. For the food, we ordered a selection of Meza, which lacked flavour and bore little resemblance to authentic Turkish dishes aside from the name. Regrettably, it seems the chef or whoever was preparing the meals could benefit from a deeper understanding of Turkish cuisine, as the bad food quality and taste were genuinely shocking. Regarding the service, the young male waiter should focus more on the patrons and avoid overlooking their requests; remembering to bring salt shouldn't have been difficult. If you’re looking for genuine and good Turkish cuisine, you won’t find it at Tas, as all you will receive are flavourless and poorly prepared dishes. Eventually, I think the restaurant lacks proper management and a decent chef.

Went at lunch today. Although busy, they found us a table for two. I’m coeliac and was impressed at the thorough knowledge of the staff on the subject, even warning me not to take any of my friends cake! Their menu is electronic so the server inputs your allergies to warn him/her of potential hazards on the menu. In my case, couscous. I had a chicken dish. I was so so tender, best I’ve had I’d say in a very long time. Thank you.

Tas has sadly gone down hill. Service was really slow and took forever to place our order. There were no check ins to ask how we were once the food had arrived, or if we needed more drinks. Ate here for the first time today and was thoroughly unimpressed. The main issue - fatally for a restaurant - was the food. I had the chicken casserole and it was bland and flavourless. Worst of all, the chicken tasted cheap and chewy, like mildly seasoned cardboard. At almost £20, it was egregiously over priced and I have no intention of returning. The service was nothing to write home about but inoffensive, and the only real saving grace was the ambience - the restaurant was nice and quiet and my friends and I were able to enjoy a proper catch-up. Stay away - there are infinitely better Turkish restaurants elsewhere in London, where the same or cheaper prices would get you food of much better quality.

Their second branch just a few minutes away said that this restaurant sells kebab, when I looked at the menu I didn’t see it which I was surprised as it’s common for Turkish restaurants to sell it. Their service was really slow. And the food wasn’t nice. The worker said that their falafel was supposedly fresh however it turns out they made it in the morning although I came in at around noon which doesn’t make sense. Price was not reasonable for their portions either. This was my personal experience but for others it may be different

We felt not taking very seriously here. While having food (good food, by the way), we saw 2 mice running through the restaurant. When we told the waiter about it, he was not very impressed and told one of his colleagues and they where smiling a bit. When we asked for the receipt, they came with the payment terminal with an amount on it. But I wanted to see the receipt first before I paid.... so finally I got the receipt and there was a 15% service charge on it. When I asked why, they told us it is optional, you don't have to pay it. But first coming without the receipt, so many guests just pay without knowing what they really pay. I would say, be very careful in this restaurant.

Sadly my fond memory of Tas The Cut from 2009 through to 2020/2021 was ripped apart as the once upon a time £11.95 Lunchtime Sahan menu - where I’d partake of red lentil soup and the chicken casserole with couscous - was replaced with a shocking Sahan experience; the same offering, probably the same (small plate) portion - but a whopping price tag of £23.50. So I opted for the Mixed grill at £24.50 and was surprised when just 2 cubes of lamb, 2 cubes of chicken and a small lamb kofte with 1/2 cup salad and 1/2 cup couscous were presented. Sadly that’s the end of Tas for me. And I don’t even get to keep those fond memories!

I had Tavuk Sis, the chicken was square and did not taste right my husband had Kofte which was dry and seemed to have been warmed up. The sunday atmosphere was sundayish so not their fault, but the staff looked like it was the last day of a working week. And service was just the barest minimum, with no thought to good service, yet they still want 13%. I think they just take that 13% as a given and dont think they need to work for it, but working for it would get more sales. I could say how they could improve service, and get more sales .... but I'd want 13% for doing the bare minimum too.

🚇 Queens Road Peckham 🍺 £4.50 Fosters The Lord Nelson is located halfway down the Old Kent Road on the border between Bermondsey and Peckham. There are not many stations close by, I got the Overground to Queens Road Peckham, it’s a twenty minute walk to get here. This pub dates from the early 19th century and is Grade II listed. It is now only one of two pubs left on the Old Kent Road, this once great drinking thoroughfare used to have 39 pubs. The interior of this pub is just magnificent, so much so that CAMRA have said it is an interior of outstanding national historic importance. The servery is located on the right hand side of the main bar and has a stunning detailed structure above. Another impressive feature of this pub are the spectacular Victorian gilded mirrors, one of which captures Lord Nelson at the battle of Cape Vincent in 1797. There is plenty of seating throughout including stools around the bar. There are two pool tables, a dartboard and a couple of fruit machines and not forgetting a proper pub carpet. The beer selection is pretty straightforward and offers a line up of familiar keg favourites. I decided on a Fosters, my pint was great, price point was reasonable at less than a fiver. There is no food served here at present. I arrived around 2.30pm on a showery Saturday afternoon in August. The pub was fairly quiet with half dozen local punters in attendance. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with a local pub feel. I got chatting to the manager who was lovely, she was telling me all about the pub’s recent challenges and the Irish Landlady who has run this pub for nearly 30 years. She also mentioned the Monopoly pub crawlers who visit from time to time. If there was ever a pub that personifies a London Boozer, then this pub is definitely it. The building and decor are a thing of beauty, unlike any other London pub I’ve visited. I would wholeheartedly recommend you visit The Lord Nelson, a glorious London Pub. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 24.08.24 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻

As always I couldn't decide what to have and end up ordering more than I should as the food is so tasty! This is a regular for me. The staff are wonderful and friendly and the food and drink are of a high quality and gentle on the wallet :)

I was there for lunch yesterday. Since I was on the terrace, they told me to order with my smartphone via QR code. I opened the menu which does not describe the dishes you order. We ordered olives, French fries and two beetroot burgers. Since it is not specified in the menu, being written "hamburger", we thought it was beef stuffed with beets... instead it was an unpleasant beetroot patty. Without complaining, believing that the mistake could still be ours, we called the waiter and asked if there were any meat burgers: he told us that the only meat burger available was chicken. So we ordered two chicken burgers... and they brought us two sandwiches with fried chicken breast. I am a foreigner and I apologize, but even the English dictionary explains that "hamburger" is minced meat, preferably beef! To top it off, while they were bringing us chicken sandwiches, a local gentleman was telling all the customers sitting on the terrace to leave because a demonstration was about to start at the Shakespeare Theatre. We spent £100 and didn't eat. Shame on you! If you don't put descriptions on the menu, the dishes should correspond to the meaning of their name!
