Tarshish in Haringey

I don’t usually write reviews and If I could give this zero stars I would. I got the halloumi they were extremely dry and the Mac and cheese had no flavour it tasted like cardboard as well for the calamari which didn’t even taste like calamari it was fried in too much batter you could barely taste it. The rice was so dry no flavour at all and the chicken was the only decent thing I had. In the end I got food poisoning and all that food gave me the worst stomach ache. Don’t go here you’re better off going Morley’s

DO NOT VISIT AVOID - I am absolutely appalled with the service and food! I'm had to wait over 15 minutes to be served with waiters non co ordinated and all over the place. Ordered for a party of 6 with the meat being undercooked. The cutlery and glasses were dirty and so were the table and chairs. When letting management know they did not care at all. Overly priced! You will be very let down. NOT VALUE FOR MONEY AT ALL! WASTE OF TRIP FROM SUCH A FAR DISTANCE!

Tarshish provided exceptional service for both my friend's engagement celebration and my birthday meal. Onur and Shanon went above and beyond to ensure that both occasions were memorable and enjoyable. The private section of the restaurant was beautifully decorated and provided an intimate setting for the engagement event. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff was respectful and attentive at all times. The birthday meal was equally fantastic, with delicious cuisine and impeccable service. I highly recommend Restaurant Tarshish to anyone looking for a venue for private functions or a place to host family and friends for special occasions. Oi this place is wack I can't lie. Dunno how I got roped into paying £20 more than I needed to on a Turkish when I coulda got the same thing from my local with a much bigger portion. I guess you pay for the atmosphere but as turkishes go it was the blandest I've had. Also don't get the beef Donner it taste like Iceland frozen donner (yes I've had Donner from Iceland the struggle was real). Staff were really lovely and welcoming and maybe I caught them on a bad kitchen day but I will not be going back to catch em on a good one.

Well here is my dilemma Food is really good (been there twice purely for that reason and that reason only) However their service and the staff attitude is a different story When it comes to paying the bill there are some strange rules and regulations such as you are not allowed to pay separately if your party is over certain number unless you pay cash Never heard of such a thing till I ended up in tarshish for christmass party dinner Also they got my order wrong on the second visit so instead of mix grill I ended up with mix shish! And the waitress is acting as if its not a big deal and they are both very similar dishes! No apologies whatsoever. Didn't want to ruin the experience for my friends decided to carry on with my food and not make a fuss. However not going back there again. No matter how great the food the terrible service is never justified

Verryyyy slow service. Been waiting to eat for hours!!! And when they finally brought out the main meal everyons appetite was gone from eating all the bread. even to bring out the drinks omg we waitd almost 2 hours 😩😩😩 if you think thats bad, u gotta wait about an extra hour for the bill. mid food and slow customer service.

Had a nice night last night at tarshish, we got a few wrong this bought to our table but our waitress Toni was very helpful. other than that lovely night and Toni was very kind and and attentive.

Food was bad yet so expensive. It’s actually funny. I brought a chicken starter, it’s was literally 4 toothpicks with a tiny bit of chicken. Then a lamb wrap. The atmosphere was so bad that I didn’t want to stay for shisha but the man said I have to which is so hilarious because I’m paying in cash so it’s not like he couldn’t just reduced my bill. And there is a manadory service fee which is ridiculous because the service wasn’t great either. So WITHOUT food, my bill was £45 because I had to pay for service and shisha. Then my one lamb roll and 5 bites size toothpicks made the bill a whopping £100 for one person alone. DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. Not to mentions the toilets were in a disgusting state. Will NEVER return here. Don’t believe tiktok, this place ONLY accepts cash as well. So they are robbing you and the government

Went for a mates 40th. Good food, nice place but upstairs only - has about twenty steps and no lift. Security guard and some mates helped lift me in my wheelchair up two tight flights of stairs, wouldn't advise as a regular thing.

Lovely experience visiting last night for two. Bill was over £100 food was perfect, drinks 10/10. Good music friendly staff, did not wait long for food. Waiters very attentive. Parked on a near by street free after 10pm Bury street car park was closed at 9pm on Saturday. Highly recommended overall 10/10

I attended a friend's bridal shower at Tarshish once, the food was fantastic, the service was swift, and the flavors were delightful.

changing the menu every 3/4 months, new menu is very disappointing. My wife and I are passionate and active food bloggers and we will be posting our experience in the coming days. Bao Buns were nice starters Mains Lamb shank was very chewy and was very bland. Sea bass presentation was genuinely disgusting, Previous experiences had shown it to look good in the past and it had bones throughout. Beyti was not special, wasn’t noteworthy. £140 completely wasted for my wife’s birthday, she was left heartbroken and very disappointed for her birthday meal as she hyped up this restaurant for months in the run up to her birthday.

Disgusting food, music toooo loud, crazily overpriced, service charge far too much will never recommend. You could not hear yourself speak due to the over loud music.

Came here for my birthday with a group of friends. Service and food was amazing! Staff were very attentive and food came in good time and well presented. Great atmosphere with the gorgeous decor and dj playing some old skool classics as well as afrobeats. We left feeling full and satisfied with our food and experience. The only thing I was disappointed with, was my cake, it was literally falling apart. My friends kindly surprised me with the “celebration cake” with a sparkler which was lovely of them, however it’s unfortunate that I was presented with a slightly “mashed up” cake (all the ‘fingers’ surrounding the cake was snapped) as I would of liked to have taken more “pretty” pictures with it on my ‘special day’ - a star lost for that alone.

The food was really lovey , but the kmb chops were a bit charred.. It's a bit too dark, too, especially where the photographs were being taken. All in all, it was a memorable experience . I'll definitely want to go back.

On my daughters birthday party at tarshish and the food for me not the best we pre ordered food from a set menu chicken Shish and my son and partner had mixed shish plates arrived with 5 cubes of meat and chicken on each plate no salad or bread I called over waiter and asked him when bread and salad would arrive he said it’s coming but never did so for me paying the amount of money for 5 cubes of meat and nothing else was a bit much but you learn from experience and never ever go back again

Went to celebrate my daughter's birthday on a Saturday night.. Wanted to go here for a while. After 2 flights of stairs...reached the restaurant that looked like a fine dining. But then the atmosphere killed it. The place was packed with large tables of youngsters who were too loud. The staff did not care and to add to it, the music was too loud that we could barely talk to each other. My waitress with a white shirt was too busy talking to her colleague...had to ask for service from an Indian gentleman in a black shirt and he served us for the rest of the evening. 3 stars just because the food was good ..but would not go back there as no care or attention is given to service or ambience. A shame really as I was really looking forward to visiting this place.

I was really impressed with the interiors of the restaurant. Sheesha suggestion was perfect I would say it’s secluded place for quite sheesha time. Food was with good presentation and tasted delicious.

Once you pay for your meal you will see how rude they are, no attention for food allergies and upset my family even thoughwe spent over £350... Will not be going back, restaurant was empty yet trying to rush customers out... do not waste your time going there. Poor attitude and service.

Travelled from over an hour away. So called as was running late and booking was changed to a later time. Thank you to the staff for accommodating. The venue is nice but music was very loud so it was an extremely hard to have a conversation with the person you’re with. The staff and service was good no complaints there but the food was not nice at all literally had 3-4 bites of the food as there was an off putting smell in the meat. Bill came up to £70 for 2 people. pricing feels as if its based on the atmosphere instead of the quality of the food. Thank you guys for the evening but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Work Christmas meal. Food wasn't anything to write about, run of the mill but expensive. Service charge also ridiculous??

The food was good and the mocktail drinks were amazing. But the atmosphere was so bad. Such loud music that you couldn't hear people talking. And the volume kept going higher every hour. They are started clearing our table and ushering us out 30mins before our booking time finished. Made us feel rushed and unwelcome.

I am a fan of the banc and was so disappointed when I came to tarshish. We booked for about 7pm on 31st December. I don’t know if it was just that day but it was a terrible service as well as really bad tasteless food and drinks. The moment we came to the door the south asian security guard instead of greeting us and saying hello he just shouted out ‘cash’ like who talks like that especially for a place like tarshish that’s not how you want to be greeted, we pushed past him cause sorry we don’t talk to people with no manners like that. We decided to go to the shisha section and the things we wanted on the menu were not available. Like come on as you give us the menu why not tell us then btw certain dishes aren’t available. Anyways the food and drinks came and it was so bland the bulgar rice was stale and the drinks were just watered down fruit juices. It took ages for the waiters to clear our table they just were walking around faffing about looking all over the place it just wasn’t a great look. When we asked for help on our shisha the guy was useless he couldn’t suggest anything we wanted something sweet but not harsh but he was reluctant to advise which is such a shame because at the banc it’s a different story they literally take the time to suggest flavours and help. Anyways the night was a waste especially for the price you are better off going to the banc ye the aesthetic is nice but it’s not worth the price. Again as we left the security guy did not open the door for us didn’t even say bye as we drove past we saw him outside talking to Indian looking friends across the road, leaving the door unattended.

This place is so nice every thing 10 /10 definitely going back. Cocktails are a great 👍 food excellent, service 👌

The quality of the food was very mediocre, prices are very high considering what you actually get. The portions were okay and the mango mocktail was nice but apart from that there was nothing else I’d come back for again.

Went for my birthday. The starter that we got were on point and very tasty. The prawn taco was a nice touch as I don’t really normally like Mexican. The calamari was tasty. Had lamb chops medium welldone. And I had the raspberry mock tail which came with smoke and a lit up glass. The fire work bday candle was put in the cigar chocolate pudding we ordered which was great too. I was not so keen on the bulgar rice but the salad was great. Toni our waitress was really sweet. Big up Toni! Most important to me is it was all halal. The place was really classy inside too. Defo a birthday vibe. Have to book a couple of days before

It's an alright place to eat. The atmosphere is lovely, you can go as a family meal, birthday/anniversary occasion, dates. Portions are small and overpriced. Not a big variety, Turkish food always comes with a nice big bread and fresh vegetables (tarshish cuts the bread in small bread sticks). If the taste was amazing I would justify it but it's mediocre. Mocktails and cocktails are nice but the bartender should have double strained it because there's chipped ice in the shaker that ends up in the drink. Waiters are very friendly and caring. The creme brulee comes with a little show. I recommend booking a table just in case, even if it's a weekday. There's a nice little space for photo ops aswell. The restaurant is quite dark so keep that in mind. Also the chairs aren't very comfortable with that table height.

MUST GO. Came here last Monday, and it's really under hyped. The food, the service, the aesthetic was all 10/10. Will definitely be back again and have already told all my friends and family about this place!

Loved this restaurant, the lamb chops and bulgur rice was amazing (one of the best I’ve ever had). Service was good, friendly staff. The atmosphere is pleasant, calm and nice ambience. Aesthetically pleasing too. Had kids menu which is always great for parents like me 😊

Made a reservation for my birthday and on the morning of the reservation there was an accident which forced closure of the motorway. ETA showed 2.5 hours from my house and I finished work at 5, which would mean I would miss my 7pm reservation. I called up at midday to reschedule and I was told I’d be charged a cancellation fee and the woman mikay was very rude. Due to that dealing I do not wish to return and the lack of customer service is awful for this establishment. I have been here in the past and glad that I will not be returning.

Don’t let looks deceive you. Food was terrible. Me and my friend ordered lamb shanks and two mocktails. First of all, the mocktails tasted like nothing special. Felt like it was just ice and rubicon juice and a sprig of mint which we paid for. Lamb shanks - would give it 0 if i had to. Was not coming off the bone as many ‘paid reviews on tiktok” claim it does, we had to confirm with the waiter if it was meant to be like this (hard to get off and extremely chewy) He then went to the kitchen and got us a steak knife to use to cut the meat up which i thought was extremely ridiculous! If i could give points to the actual flavour i would also give 0! Tasted like nothing the only thing that had flavour was the pomegranate seeds. Overall 0.5/5 - food and service was a let down because if the lamb incident.

Went there yesterday , beautiful venue, food and customer service. Only low about venue is the stairs wow. I am disabled my legs are not strong I managed get there and back down with support of friends. But wow. So any one with a wheel chair or can't do stairs this restaurant is not for you which is sad.

Food was amazing, definitely cooked well. The restaurant itself is about 3 flights of stairs high which is not great if you’re in heels and the waiting area is basically just the walk way next to the stairs. The music was slow jam remix of well known songs which was nice and really set a relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant is very dim, especially on our table, could’ve done with more lamps on our table (we were sitting in the corner). Would definitely go back again

Had a fantastic evening at Tarshish recently, where the rooftop setting offered a serene yet vibrant backdrop to a delightful culinary experience. Every dish presented was a flavorful adventure, matched with friendly and prompt service. This is a gem I’d enthusiastically recommend for anyone seeking a memorable night out!

We booked Tarshish this weekend for a group booking. Upon entering the restaurant we were told that they expect a few members of larger groups to run a little late. We were 15 minutes into our booking time and 1 person was yet to arrive when the waitress was visibly annoyed. We had the table for 2 hours. The remaining guest arrived a couple of minutes later and our starters were brought out immediately, although it took our guest 3 attempts to order a drink. Whilst eating starters the table was also served their mains which was also overwhelming and unnecessary. We ordered fizzy rose and they brought out and poured a bottle of Prosecco. The wine was not chilled and was at room temperature. We took a few sips and realised it wasn't rose. We shared this with the waitress who confirmed it was prosecco. Sooner than letting us have the glasses we had sipped as a goodwill gesture, as she confirmed they were going down the sink, she took them away and disposed of them. Prior to everyone finishing their meals the staff took away plates which is poor etiquette whilst people were eating. Overall, there is no customer service from the staff and their manner is blunt and unhelpful. The food is overpriced and bland. I would not return and it was particularly poor for a group occasion.

Went to the new shisha lounge was great 10/10 server was polite professional, shisha was good lasted a long time didnt burn out at all. Atmosphere was nice music was chilled I really enjoyed it!

Very relaxing calm atmosphere in the shisha lounge, very comfortable couches almost fell asleep, food was lovely especially the starters all delicious, personal favourite was the tacos and lamb cutlets, shisha was on point. Overall Fantastic food Amazing cocktail options on the menu Very smokey shisha that last long Staff was very friendly and welcoming Reasonable price aswell Highly recommended rooftop shisha lounge in Turnpike Lane will be back with friends and family for sure 👌

Massively overrated food and experience made even worse by being told that the deposit paid per head in advance on booking would not be deducted from the bill, but would follow in 3-5 days!

The most demanding and strict restaurant I have ever been too. It ruined my whole experience of Hosting my husband birthday. Food was good and service was good too but I have found staff not very pleasant but Strict. They were so difficult and insecure about having group of 19. Few email lots of msgs in A day Back and forth menu confirmation and still confused. Didn't add rice with Shish because I didn't told them but on menu it is a part of dish. Very annoying rules regulations. We are a family who eats out all the time and we know how it works. Not happy at all

Places like this don’t deserve the publicity they are getting! Visited here today and basically it’s all a hype. The food looks good but it is bland, lacks in flavour and very mediocre. Noting authentic about the place and I left very disappointed. Service was poor, very slow and the waiters not very friendly at all! Selection of drinks were ok…. Presented well. However, again tasteless and definitely overpriced. Now…. The atmosphere of this place is what is gathering its attention. It’s a great looking restaurant upstairs with a good vibe and resident DJ. However, I’d be lying if it felt mature. Quite a young clientele and definitely not classy enough for a no smart trainers or sandal environment. I mean the stairs to even get to the seating area are a bloody hazard 😳 Also, I would expect a clean toilet environment for such establishment. They were horrid, unclean and smelt awful. Its quite small with 3 cubicles and one sink. No vanity area etc… It’s literally like going to pee in a dark alleyway. Anyway, each to the own but I hope people listen to these reviews and don’t jump on the bandwagon. Honestly guys stay home 😂 or support another local restaurant. That area particularly in North London is where you will really find some top quality Mediterranean places for a fraction of the prices. I promise, It will be much worthwhile!

A cute little dinner however a bit too pricy for average food. I felt very rushed and the custom service was not to standard I was rushed out and rushed in. They didn’t even allow time for me to split the bill. For the service charge I expected better. When I requested more juice the waiter forgot and I was left thirsty. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied.

Seamless experience from parking in the designated car park to sitting down at the table. Staff were welcoming with great service. Didn't wait to long until food arrived. The Starters were very amazing. Unfortunately when it comes to the mains, food was luke warm at best and less than mediocre. Didn't feel like we got any value here considering we paid £70+ per head. Disappointed in what could have a recommended restaurant if only they got the main course correct.

Service was good can’t complain and atmosphere/decoration is nice - it’s dark but has nice intimate feeling to the restaurant. The food however and drinks was a complete let down. For starter I ordered the battered lamb which had more batter than the actual lamb and was cooked in sweet chilli sauce which was overly sweet was unable to finish it. My first alcoholic drink was the Midnight Madness and the drink is super sweet and can hardly taste any alcohol in it and when complained to the host serving our table. I was told as the drink is served in a long cup the alcohol won’t be tasted as much - biggest joke I have heard in a while. For main meal, I ordered the mixed Shish with bulgur as a side. There were parts of the meat was not cooked properly which has caused me to have diarrhoea following day, the shish was served on what looked like an imitation of rivita bread rather than the naan looking bread shish are usually served on. I was unable to finish my food. I ordered a single shot of jack Daniels and coke and the single shot of the jack daniels was barely existent. I was really looking forward to my experience in Tarsish but must say left very disappointed. Definitely wont be going back!

I would give O start for the services if I could. The services really bad …booked the table for the shisha bar at 19:30…arrived on time at the restaurant and the waiter told me to wait bc there’s no available table; I waited 40 minutes…the time I have to spend it in the restaurant was limited -only 2h. So , the guy then sat us on a table and I was requested to sit on the sofa ; waiter again said no, bc he said it’s reserved. No one has arrived to the table that was “reserved “by the waiter and his behaviour was rude and explained to him that I only stay for one more h . He refused again and int he end we had to sit at the table he choose for us. The waiter was very unprofessional and thanks to him and Tarshis services my birthday was ruined.

Service was first class and the ambience and overall atmosphere was pure Park Lane. However the primary reason one goes to a restaurant is to eat and drink and i'm sorry to say but they have fallen short here. Their red meet (lamb) was fatty and not tender. I did not enjoy it at all. The Lamb Shank was flavourless too and my wife was not keen. The two things they got right was the chicken and the cold starters. The drinks were also pure syrup and catering cartons of juice. Not fresh ingredients which one would expect for the price. I would return but only for starters and chicken dish. They are super in some areas but need to sort out the fatty lamb which needs to be chewed for 5 mins before swallowing.

The atmosphere is really nice but what spoils it, it is the music, the music is so loud to point you can't hear the person sitting next to you. The food was the worst Turkish food I had. The food portions are small and over priced. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Beyti wrap, it lacked flavour and they put cheese on the wrapped beyti and it had cheese inside it, this is not authentic Turkish way to have it. The portion is small. The Turkish restaurant Sultan in Ilford and Gokzu in Enfield is much better than this place. This place was WASTE OF MONEY. This small portion cost £23 and the food wasn't tasty at all.

Went for my birthday celebration, it was really nice service. Staffs absolutely amazing and sweet. Food is well seasoned and have a TASTE. I highly recommend. Lightening not the best

This lamb shank meat tasted like they had re-used damp cloth that they must of wipe down their kitchen with. Must of touched the surface of where they wash their meat. It stinks I was shocked told the waiter I can't eat this, the waiter couldn't give a dam and said I will speak to the manager and as I watched her take my food away she shoved my plate and put other dirty plates on top of the plate I was eating on into a lift where it goes down to the kitchen. And came back with a dessert menu.... Who said I was done? And where is the manger when you said you will speak to him? Untrained staff members teaching them to feed lies to their customers.... As I wanted to have a good time with my friend celebrating her birthday she also asked the staff that took my plate away what happened to the food? The staff then called the manger and didn't even acknowledge what I was trying to say and said we'll give you a free dessert. Was that meant to be justified? He said he will go to the kitchen and speak to his team and have a taste himself. The manger came back after 2 minutes and said he tasted the food and didn't taste bad at all. Do we look like fools? So your chef made you a fresh lamb shank for you to taste??? There was no way he tasted off the plate I had eaten as it was piled on top off other dirty plates. I told him your staff member just took my plate and shoved it in the lift to bin it and then brushed it off and gave me dessert menu when she said she will get the manger and speak with him regarding my concern. He said he will speak to his staff member to see what happened he never came back. Did it ever occur to them perhaps to offer another main course. I did come for dinner and to have a good time. And they still gave me service charge after what I experienced and tried to get rid off us asap wiping down our tables and waiting for us to finish up after telling them the problem with the food I paid for! We stayed for 50 minutes our time got cut short. Learn how to wash your meat and buy some fresh cleaning products, some quality soap to wash your kitchen surface your transferring it onto the food your customers come to pay for.

Beautiful restaurant very classy and nice for an occasion. Nice decor suitable to take photos but can feel uncomfortable because everybody will stare while you’re taking pictures. The staff are very professional. Food was very tasty but the lamb chops were ridiculously small like baby chops but an overpriced charge which is not worth it, drinks were beautiful and tasted lovely.

The experience at Tarshish was amazing, the food was on time along with the drinks. Furthermore the service was immaculate, Ivan walked us through every step of our experience & without a doubt made my visit to Tarshish unforgettable!

Been Tarshish 3 times now and all I can say is that every time time my experience has been phenomenal! Everything is on point, from the food, the customer service, the ambience, the music, the lighting and the menu. It’s a well deserved 10/10❤️

Food was not the best, ordered a mixed grill as my main and a boneless buffalo wings as my starter and it was nothing new or exciting but beautiful atmosphere but that’s all.

Best food I've had in the UK. The Adana kebab and lamb chops are top tier. We were a group of 14. It is pricey but the overall experience was worth it. Mixed grill was good, best part of it was the Adana kebab, then the minced lamb, chicken. The bread that came with it wasn't that great compared to the rest of the food. A few mistakes were made with our bill but they rectified it quickly. Overall, would definitely recommend.

Always been one of my favourite spots for food and drinks. However, I must it’s definitely my favourite shisha spot too now! Believe me when I say they made this place from scratch. Amazing rooftop, airy due to the glass design going all around, great ambience and unique design which is somewhat boho themed. They play deep house music, I know its hard but if you can catch the sunset too, companied with a signature cocktail, just gives you those holiday vibes again. The staff are all amazing, professional, approachable and friendly. They were very attentive and well mannered. The food was delicious I enjoyed every bit of it. I definitely recommend this place, my advice is to eat and then go up for shisha and desserts!

I went off Turkish for a while, had something nasty in east London. I'm glad I went to Tarshish which has made me fall in love with Turkish food again. Best place for Turkish food also the atmosphere is amazing

Very good service, found a rock hard bone in my mixed mezze platter which I bit into! Great atmosphere, friendly and lovely staff. A bit on expensive side. Meal for two is easily 60 pounds!

The starter was okay but the main was not nice. Some sort of garnish was put on top that taste like soap. I was not able to eat it. It made the whole thing taste like soap. It’s a nice place to take picture maybe have a drink. But I wouldn’t recommend the food.

We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist and “Adnan” ensured we had a wonderful time. Service delivery was top tier ! You could tell Adnan our host was constantly paying attention to make sure there no delays in what the table needed.

Was ok, overpriced in my opinion. Timed restraint, even thou there was no-one coming after us. For the price you pay and the quality you get, you are better off with a £90 tasting menu somewhere else.

The whole floor was cold. The Food Came Cold. Rice tasted like microwave rice and the lamb shish was raw and had to be replaced. Service was terrible as they kept promising things are not bringing them to us. Area is also dangerous as someone smashed our car window outside Tarshish.

Had a lovely day celebrating my birthday great food and so picturesque!
