Pricey, but great food. The chicken supreme was pretty good, good portion size too. The starter bread was small but the butter was good. Good cocktails and attentive staff.

We went here for a special birthday meal. The food is good, waited over 40 minutes for a starter which was cold, mentioned it but as we waited so long didnt want to send it back. Main course took another 30 minutes after that. Music was a strange choice, teenage dirtybag and lots of indie songs which didn't suit the vibe. The floor by our table near the bar shunted my chair up whenever staff stepped on it. The main was incredible, we really enjoyed it. But with the music and the poor service it just really let it down for the price of the food. Very little smiles and lack of attentiveness from FoH let it down. We would've stayed for dessert but with everything we just went elsewhere. For the price of the food it was a bit of a surprise really

Had scallops to start, I know scallops are expensive, but looked like one cut into three and were slightly overcooked, second course was nice, just not great, no real space between tables and was draughty every time the door opened, service was ok. Could be better

The food is excellent quality, beautifully presented, and the price reflects this. A place to come to for special occasion. The food is so much better than most places. We were a group of seven and able to have a room to ourselves. It's a very relaxed environment to enjoy a meal. Every person who served us was warm and friendly. A real credit to the place. There are low/zero alcohol options, but the range of beers is very limited and only one local brew.

The world of sensations… acceptable food, expensive for what it offers in a decoration of plastic flowers, decorated by neglected toilets (it usually happens that they forget a part as important as if it were external to the premises… how sad)… from 1 to 10 a 6…. (I don't put photographs, it's limiting things a lot, I prefer to value everything as a whole and not just the photos of dishes)

Had a lovely meal at Tarragon on opening night, a couple of years ago (or so). You have retained one waiter who is excellent and a credit to your business. I must say, service is still very good. However, food has lost its way. Some elements are still strong but enough with the tarragon reduction/sauce with every dish! I get it, the restaurant called tarragon but the sauce doesn’t go with everything. Overpowers a lot of dishes and actually ruins some strong work in the kitchen. Less is more when it comes to that green sauce. Two years ago I had a wonderful “deconstructed” sticky toffee pudding. Which I still remember. It was fantastic! Now you get a slab of cake and a dollop of ice cream. Like you would in any cafe/restaurant in Scotland. Feels like you’re going backwards/getting lazy. I want to keep coming to Tarragon but please try to get back to winning ways.

First time. Chosen on positive reviews. Overall we enjoyed our meal. Would have liked our starter plates to be hot/food was tepid. Steak/duck was well cooked but don't particularly like lettuce on a plate that will be flooded with hot sauce. Desserts fine but nothing out of the ordinary. To say it is a fine dining restaurant is maybe a bit ambitious. Staff were efficient but slow at times and lost our dessert order. Think the prices are high for what was on offer.

Service was great, staff all very well trained. Food was okay, but I left feeling confused about whether I enjoyed my meal or not. Soda drink came in a strangely tall milkshake glass and was very brightly coloured. Cutlery felt like it came from a cafeteria. The amuse-bouche was a nice surprise, looked nice, but was too sweet and ingredients from a ready made supermarket aisle. Scallop starter was nice, but only 3 strands of rock samphire and 2 leaves of wild garlic. Fish was overcooked for the main and prawns were the size and texture of dried shrimp. Gnocchi was good though, but the dish was an overall flavour of salt. All in all, paid £50 for a soda, starter, and main. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it matched the pricing. It all felt disjointed, like buyer, front of house, drinks, and kitchen ran by different people with a different aim. Has potential, the menu used all the right words and the plates looked beautiful, but it needs focus and paring back.

Slightly disappointed with Tarragon. First impressions are everything and as soon as we walked through the door the host was very unwelcoming. His approach to us came across as uninterested. He didn’t speak. Just took our name and walked away. Had a look around the restaurant and left us standing at the door not knowing what we were supposed to do. We just looked at each other and said ‘Not a good start’. He eventually took us to a table. He returned and told us of the specials. One of which was a whole or half lobster. But didn’t indicate how much said lobster would cost. Would have been easier to have a specials board or printed off specials. The table next to us were offered water. We had to ask. Our wine was just poured. We weren’t offered a taste. The Amuse-bouche cases were chewy, Our starters were checked back on. No one checked about our main meals. I know the place is called Tarragon but although the food was very nice. Putting tarragon on every dish was a bit much. It was really the only thing about the food we received to slightly criticise. Our biggest dissatisfaction was that after having a random conversation a couple of weeks ago about do people eat Highland Cows. While researching where to eat in Aberdeen we discovered this restaurant sold medallions of Highland cow. So we booked immediately and were willing to pay the £35 to see if it was any different to other beef. Not on the menu!! So the website needs updated. We just felt really let down by mainly the haphazard and unfriendly service. We felt like were unwanted, so are very unlikely to return. As we left no one acknowledged us or said thanks. Just ignored us and chatted away. So bad last impression too. FOH training needed for the basics. * In reply. We visited on Saturday 17th Feb. Can’t see anything on the website mentioning a sample menu in the explore the menu section which is the first to scroll down to. And also first port of call for most people to look at a menu is on the company’s website. Not social media. Just and honest review.

Service was excellent. Decor is great. Food was good, but wouldn't describe as 'fine dining'. Chicken liver parfait to start was delicious but not enough muffin with it to eat all the parfait. Beef was lovely and soft, presentation could be better. Perhaps break up the huge lump of beef? Cheese was very disappointing, lots of oatcakes but 4 tiny bits of very warm cheese. Overall good value at £45 for 3 courses. Wine is expensive and choice limited.

Having been wanting to try Tarragon since it opened I was pleased that it did not disappoint. The service was immaculate and the majority of the staff were friendly and helpful (although when we arrived I had to offer that we had a reservation). Overall, we all enjoyed the food. The English muffin with the chicken liver parfait was unbelievably good, but very small. The cassoulet with the cod lacked flavour sadly and the crumb was quite wet, but the fish was cooked well. With some fine tuning this place could be a real gem. Having said that we will definitely be back and would expect Tarragon to continue to rise in popularity.

I went with a group of friends, the main courses were good but all the Starters and desserts were pretty poor. Mine tasted like fennel. I feel like they used the same sauce in my starter and dessert. The service was really bad as well, considering is supposed to be a fine dining. The guys serving us were not trained. They didn’t know what dishes they were bringing to the table (we got haggis Wong wongs haha as the guy called them and something like a chocolate cake (it was a chocolate fondant haha) at least that made us laugh. When clearing the plates, They were stacking up all the plates from the table on our table. One of the guys stacked all the plates on top of my partner’s plate, and left them there to go for a cocktail they forgot to bring to our table after I had to remind him, Instead of taking the plates with him. You wouldn’t mind a service like that if you go to a pub, but we were expecting more. Cocktails were not good either. I am trying to understand why is this place so highly rated tbh.

Well….. We decided to have dinner at Tarragon last night. The food was pretty good, no denying that, if a bit expensive. What happened a couple of hours later was that my partner threw up all of her dinner and I had vomiting and diarrhoea from the early hours for six hours. Whether this was caused by the food we cannot say with any certainty. Took the shine off the evening, though.

Had a lovely meal here. We were given a complimentary amuse bouche and bread to start the meal. I ordered the halibut which came slightly more cooked than I'd usually like however it was still a delicious dish - the hispi cabbage was particularly tasty. My partner ordered the venison which was absolutely lovely the beans added a good bite to the dish. The restaurant did feel a little crowded with the number of tables with just one table removed I think it would have opened up the space a lot more but we would definitely visit again. I had the pleasure of dining at Tarragon three times during my visit to Aberdeen. All three times were a gastronomic delight and extremely enjoyable. The restaurant atmosphere is inviting, the service is friendly, and the food is amazing. Graham Mitchell's restaurant boasts a farm (or sea) to table menu, and he delivers. The Buckie scallops, the Aberdeen Angus beef, and the Sunday roast of lamb were all amazing. The drinks menu also has a cocktail and wine list sure to suite everyone's pallette. The only disappointment is that I don't live in Aberdeen, because this may just be my favorite new restaurant. Don't hesitate to make a booking next time your in the Silver City.!

Couldn't wait to try Tarragon after all the great reviews! Was very disappointed with the food! had the scallop and chicken Tikka dish to start which lacked flavour and was underseasoned and they just didn't seem to belong together on the plate! Then had the Aberdeen angus fillet which also was very bland and was underseasoned also had the chicken ballotine which also lacked flavour! Everything looked great on the plate and the presentation was outstanding but the taste did not live up to the presentation! The cheese board and the sticky toffee pudding cheesecake we could not fault and the bottle of wine was great! Service was good but the food seemed to come out of the kitchen very fast we had our starters and mains eaten with 30 mins which is unheard of and the food was not very hot! Was looking forward to this as bene to the Newmachar hotel and the food was brilliant but this did not live up to that standards! Unfortunately I don't think I will hurry back!

Slightly underwhelmed Artichoke starter was lovely. Scallop and tandoori chicken starter was slightly mix matched, dont think they belonged together on the plate. Lamb main dish was delicous, however was slightly on the small side for what we paid. The mushroom/dahl main course was a big disappointment, looked great on the plate but was massively underseasoned and just lacked in flavour. I got my main dish swapped which resulted in me eating my main course whilst my husband was eating his dessert. The bill came and we had nothing taken off as an apology. Unsure whether we'd go back

Pan seared sea bream was amazing, crispy and tasty with lots of crayfish underneath. Good selection of cocktails for afterwards too! Only niggle was the toilets downstairs (perhaps something to bear in mind if less mobile) the could probably do with a bit of an overhaul but on the whole it doesn’t detract from the great experience upstairs.

Went for dinner on Saturday night. The main room is much nicer, than the back room. The food was superb. We had seabream and venison - absolutely exquisite! The banana dessert was unusual and delicious. The big BUT were the drinks. The £11 plum & gin cocktail did not taste of gin at all, just big tall glass full of ice with some plum syrup in it. I didn't like their Shiraz either. The staff was attentive, but not well trained. For example, they did not bring the proper knife for the venison, we waited for a very long time for the drinks, they came to take our order, but did not bring the gluten-free menu, which we asked for long in advance. After being awake from 2am, catching a taxi at 3 am and flying from Malaga at 5am, we arrived in Aberdeen Airport at 8.30am. We had no chance to grab anything to eat as time was limited for a rail connection in mid-morning. We were delighted to discover Cafe 31 which is to be found adjacent to the Railway Station and its location gave us time to grab a quick breakfast. This is a nice wee cafe with all the usual breakfast and light lunch options. Prices were reasonable, and service was quick and friendly. A very enjoyable breakfast
