Taqueria By The Mixologist in High Peak

Had such a fabulous time at Taqueria……We tried a bit of everything on the menu and loved it all. There wasn’t one thing that we didn’t enjoy and it was nice that it was all authentic and felt like a true Mexican experience. We particularly loved the chickpea and chorizo tostada and the sweetcorn dish, but all were delicious! It’s very hot upstairs, so that made us eat less I think, so more fans would be good . That said, I think it was the hottest day of the year!! The staff are really lovely and friendly, and happy to talk through the menu. The drinks are awesome…. We had frozen margaritas, they were delicious and tequila shots hit the spot ….. the best way to end a Mexican meal!! Highly recommend this restaurant, it’s a great find and stands out amongst others in Glossop. Really looking forward to going back. It’s hands down the best place I’ve eaten for a long while and 100% the best Mexican food I’ve had.

Positives + Making booking was easy, email received with free drinks but didn't use it because I haven't seen the email before the visit + Friendly welcome on arrival from the chef + Tasty food Negatives - Was originally given a table which was tiny! - Ordered bottle of wine, once the wine arrived there was a glass of it missing. Bottle replaced but wine never was never served, the waitress just left the bottle on the table. - We ordered one of everything but never received the plates. This was not rectified during the visit. - Waitress didn't seem to be able to advice whether we need sides with small plates menu - Portions were very small, after 7 plates to share I felt like I've only had a starter - No eye contact from the waitress when we were trying to get her attention - Overheard two other tables complaining - very loud music and noise from the cocktail bar downstairs - Saw waitress counting tables on her fingers (there are only 6 tables!)

Absolutely great food and great service. Great place to visit when your in Glossop. Highly recommend this place and once you have finished your meal then make the most of the cocktails on offer downstairs .

Overall, it was OK. Between 4 of us we had lots of different dishes and I would say 3 of them were nice to note, however everything seemed to lack seasoning and wasn’t as good as we expected it to be. The staff were pleasant but not very attentive; we asked twice for tap water, only had 1 round of drinks (we definitely would’ve had more!) and had to ask for cutlery so that we could eat. The experience was OK but we won’t be returning.

I had food here last night with a few friends and had a lovely time! The food is so good and not like any Mexican food I’ve had before, and the waitress really knows her stuff about what you’re eating! The drinks were great too (also a good selection of drinks!) and there was live music which set a great atmosphere. I will be back to enjoy a bottomless brunch too!

If you do one thing this year, it’s visit this bar and restaurant. Wow wow wow, the food was so delicious and full of flavour. Everything about this place is world class - to the atmosphere, the stunning selection of cocktails and the aesthetic interior. I would 100% be coming back here for birthdays, nights out or just because I fancy some yummy Mexican food!

Lovely mexican small plates. Enjoyed the chilli beef particularly. Decent for a good group, and the cocktails are full of booze!

Best Mexican food I've ever had. The service was top notch. Luke and the staff made sure we were all looked after.

We came in as a huge group and really tested the kitchen. The food was all fresh and full of flavour. It came straight out of the kitchen as and when it was ready which gave you time between plates to breathe. The staff were lovely and helpful.

Not your usual Mexican place, the menu here was far more interesting than bog standard chicken tacos and cheese covered enchiladas. As part of a small group, we ordered each of the small plates as well as the lamb special - everything was tasty, and i would happily order everything again. All homemade, all inventive, all lovely. After a tough start, Taqueria has absolutely pulled it out of the bag with the current kitchen team. Top stuff. Welcome to Glossop.

We went for a last minute dinner on a Friday night not expecting anything other than mediocre obvious Mexican food, however we were stunned at how good the food was. It was homemade, creative and extremely tasty with subtle heat and beautifully presented. I don’t normally write reviews, but I don’t want Glossop to lose this restaurant and feel the chef and owners should be recognised for their fabulous efforts.

My second visit and did not dissapoint. Authentic, home made fresh Mexican food. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Highly reccomend.

Vibrant and tasty dishes, with real Mexican flare. Great selection of meat and vegan/veg with no authenticity lost. More people need to know about this place!

Try as soon as you can. These people care about the food they serve. Dining early on a Friday evening with friends the small restaurant was welcoming and friendly. And busy. We enjoyed the change to try a range of dishes with their small plates/tapas...

I can’t believe the food is this good, because it’s in humble Glossop. It’s an unassuming venue serving food that is so full of flavour and surprises. Incredible.
