Tanoor Persian Cuisine in Kingston upon Thames

Very quiet at Friday lunchtime, we were the only ones until a loud vegan arrived, and unfortunately continued to yell about her veganism religion throughout the remainder of our meal. We had our usual at Persian restaurants: koobideh (minced lamb grilled on skewers) with their moreish garlic naan and the chicken (with bones) and rice. Our first visit but not our last.

Very tasty meal. Efficient friendly service. We really enjoyed our evening, and will certainly be back!

Excellent food and superb service and the plus point was halal meat.Thursday night restaurant wasnt too full and the waiter mentioned there were alot many home delivery orders.i liked their rust napkins.

Four of us came last night. Interesting menu. Lots that we all liked. We ended up sharing 5 starters, including naan and garlic naan, and then saffron chicken served with rice and salad. All delicious. It was a warm, summer’s evening, and we were sat in the restaurant, but the whole front slid open, so we benefitted from the breeze from outside. Finished with tea and baklava. Lovely baklava, not too sweet. No coffee available. Would have preferred a coffee! Efficient and polite staff. Thankyou.

RUBBISH FOOD at Super Expensive price. Owner willing to fight if you ask to remove service charge. Would never recommend to visit!

Often order in from Tanoor using Deliveroo because it’s well cooked , healthy takeaway and always delivered quickly. (Actually they handle delivery themselves)

My wife & I decided to try this restaurant for Mothers Day- The staff were very friendly & welcoming- We shared a Kashk Bademjoon with bread for starters which was delicious- My wife had Ghorme Sabzi & i had Makhsoos for mains which were both very tasty & well presented I will definitely be using this restaurant again- excellent meal

1 Star Restaurant - I debated for a very long time over whether or not I should leave this review. But I'm really mad because we paid a lot of money and the food was just absolutely horrible.

We only came here for dessert and drinks as we had had such a disappointing experience at the restaurant next door. This place was still open and had an inviting feel with the front open to the outdoors. Beautiful desserts including an interesting frozen vermicelli in rose water served with fresh lemon... it was divine. Delightful waiter made up for the terrible experience we had had and ended birthday evening on a high!

We were a party of 11 and all of us were very satisfied with the quality of the food, efficient service and courteous staff. Would highly recommend.

We booked this restaurant for lunch for a large group to celebrate getting married. The service was amazing, they served everyone very quickly and efficiently and were very attentive to the needs of the group. We had one vegan in the group and they were very helpful in explaining her options on the menu to suit her needs. They were very friendly and nice to all of us and celebrated with us. We ordered several mixed grills which came with 4 different types of kebabs to share between 4 people and everyone thought it was great that there was an option for each taste. The kebabs were so delicious we took all the remaining portions home and enjoyed them the next day too! I would highly recommend this restaurant for tasty Persian food whether that be for large or small groups.

Excellent quality food, large portions. We ordered fairly standard items on the Menu in terms of the Joojeh (boneless) and a combo of Koobideh and Joojeh. My family and I visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon, maybe more busier in evenings...Service was fine, though soft drinks were relatively expensive.

We first visited this restaurant last year. The food was amazing. The service was outstanding. We went a couple of times earlier this year where the customer service was not as good and the food was acceptable. Last week, we decided to drive all the way from Purley for our first take away. As Iranians we like to support our fellow Iranians, however, the salad looked worn out. The koobideh looked yellow and had something mixed with the meat which I am assuming was bread. Both the length and width of the koobideh has shrunked. The rice was enough for a child. As an Iranian restaurant they know better that the Iranian food is always served with rice and plenty of it and yet Iranian restaurants such as Tanoor now only appear to be catering for their foreign customers. The Ash Reshteh tasted exactly like the tinned Ash you can buy from any Iranian and Turkish supermarkets whereby when we first tried it last year it was amazing. Today, against my better judgement, my husband forced me to drive all that way again and to give them another go. Same story, we asked the Iranian lady not to give us salads but instead to give us more rice, which they did not. The Koobideh smelled funny, was even smaller, the only positive feedback was my daughter's Joojeh wraps. It's a real shame that the standard has fallen, as when we spoke to the owner earlier this year, he mentioned that he would not be compromising quality and he has and if he has changed his cooks, I recommend that he changes them again as this was not the standard before and he has clearly put profit over quality. Very very disappointed.

I went to the Persian cousin there was a lady who served us was very kind with our kids I don’t know how she could manage our naughty children . I ordered Soltani that was a The best Soltani that I have ever in my life and also ithe Resturant is so easy to find and I highly recommend

It was for the first time that I've ordered in here and definitely, I’ll order again. The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. We highly recommend it. Also staff are polite and lovely.

Ordered a delivery and was a little apprehensive as we have never order from Tanoor before. Order arrived before expected and exceeded our expectations. All food was delicious, hot and portions were perfect. Will definitely be back, great find!

This was our first Tanoor order after a recommendation from a friend and we really weren't disappointed. The order was delivered quickly, chicken and lamb dishes were excellent, salads fresh and all sauces full of flavour. Definitely eating here again!

Very rare that I take the time to write reviews but the food here is amazing! The food always hits the spot and the staff are super friendly, highly recommend the chicken joojeh. Even the naan is amazing, so crispy and flavorful.

I was a huge fan of this place, and was delighted that South London at last had a decent Persian restaurant, as previously I had been travelling to North London to get my Koobideh fix. I will be honest and say the food is very nice, however a recent significant hike in prices, coupled with the fact that the portions sizes are far smaller than its North London rivals has massively put me off this place. Unfortunately I cant justify paying over the odds even though it is a rare treat. When i questioned the overnight 20% increase i was told that it is because they are now VAT registered. It`s a shame. An Iranian friend of mine came with me and was shocked at the prices and portion sizes on a recent visit, the last visit. We also ordered a couple of beers as we saw Cobra on draught, however the waiter brought out two small bottles as the Draught wasn`t working. This wasn`t mentioned when we ordered,Its a trivial point but you are effectively paying twice the price for beer when you only have small bottles vs draught and i find it a little underhand when restaurants use this tactic.In their defence perhaps the rent on this stretch of road has forced the owners to raise the prices as there are a number of restaurants that have folded there recently. For me though I have my own overheads and ill be taking my hard earned cash elsewhere from now on.

We have been wanting to go here for a while and finally managed it last night (24th December) with my husband and daughter. First of all, as Iranians we know a good food when we try it.The hospitality was ace. The starters: Kashk Bademjoon AMAZING, the Ash Reshte AMAZING, as for the Makhsoos we thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter loved her Boneless Joojeh and what was so lovely was that the servers continuously checked everything was okay and on top of that they asked whether we wanted more rice being Iranians we love our Rice. The persian tea was lovely and the Baghlava was fresh and yummy. Thank you Tanoor we had a lovely and amazing supper and my hubby enjoyed talking to the owner.

Six of us had dinner here couple of nights back. The quality and flavour of the food was of high standard. The Barg kebab had good seasoning and obviously well marinated to be tender as was the Joojeh kebab, the skewer of my kubideh though ok in flavour was a bit on smallish size and dry. The Nan bread was fresh off the Tanoor and tasty. Very clean, polite & helpful staff and easy to park outside the premises. Didn't try the starters but that's a must do for the next visit.Highly recommend.

We are definitely going back to Tanoor. I can’t fault it at all.Food was authentic Persian and tasted like home made. I’ve visited Iran before and it brought back lovely memories . We had mixed meze which was fresh and delicious. Main courses all beautifully arranged on the plate and tasted amazing. Service was perfect . Our waiter was attentive but not rushing us .Attention to detail to create a Middle Eastern feel such as the crockery used is a lovely touch. I’ve added a pic of the teapot that contained our tea. Makes a big change from the larger chains which are soulless. Thanks and hope to be back soon.

Had been looking forward to visiting based on the amazing reviews. I’m sorry, it was very average. Service not amazing - was left without a drink for main course despite taking empty bottle away. Lamb was actually pretty bland and uninteresting. The thinly sliced fillet version has the most flavour (we ordered a variety of dishes) but nothing life-changing. Some dishes come with a herb salad that contains an incredible amount of herbs - like several bunches of tarragon, mint and parsley - impossible to eat. Bread I thought was freshly cooked but lacked any seasoning, just very bland really. I wanted to love this place, but it just didn’t happen.

Ordered Take-Away from Tanoor for the first time and it arrived in the 30-45mins stated on the phone,with a really friendly delivery driver. The food was really fresh, tasted wonderful with great portion size. Really Fantastic, would recommend!

Been here 3 or 4 times, and on every occasion it’s been a great experience. The staff are great and the food is fantastic. Undoubtedly the best restaurant in Worcester Park, and probably beyond.

Superb evening with friends, enjoying some absolutely excellent food; so fresh and such good taste, really can not recommend this place enough - even for takeaway...and the staff are fantastic too!

Local to us ,we visited at lunch time .We passed one evening and there wasn't a table free ,much quieter at lunch time .We were warmly welcomed and every thing we asked about was explained to us .We enjoyed our meals and found them reasonably priced .

I must have been to Tanoor at least 10 times and whilst I seem to always end up ordering the same dishes I never get bored with the place!

Paid this place a visit last night as it was recommended by a friend and had a fantastic time. What sets this place apart is that you feel at home as it is a family run business. The hostess and the "little guy" as they called him were really welcoming and looked to really enjoy interacting with everyone. I was surprised to see that most customers seem to know the hostess pretty well and she knew most by name which makes a huge difference.

Excellent food and ambience, as always. The staff provide a service that’s warm, helpful and friendly.

Have been to this restaurant a couple of times now and the food has been delicious. Very tasty large portions - we have tried the stew and grills - both chicken and lamb which were well flavoured and succulent. The homemade nan was wonderful and my daughter given a lesson on making one to take home. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

It’s so good to have a local Persian restaurant the food is very tasty excellent kebabs and very fluffy rice as well as a great choice of starters and the amazing Persian ice cream. The staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. I have been back many times it’s a place I’m proud to take my friends and family.

Went there for dinner with my Dad and my daughter last night. It is very small, seats around 40 people but it is really lovely. The staff are friendly and attentive. They appear to genuinely care about whether you enjoy the experience and leave happy. The food was also very good. The menu choices are quite limited but they have really thought about how to keep the choices small while still accommodating lots of dietary preferences. The menu is also very descriptive so you will be sure that you know what you are ordering even though the choices are listed using their traditional names which most won’t be familiar with. Would definitely go again.

Have been here a few times now, always a great experience and leave very satisfied. My favourite is Momtaz. A combination of minced lamb and chicken. The meat is always tender and tasty. The rice is fluffy and light. The bread is made freshly in an oven in the restaurant.

It seemed to be a lovely relaxed family orientated business who obviously take huge pride in their food. Lovely evening out with good food and at a very reasonable price. The restaurant was small but made no odds to us as the food was great as well as the lovely service we received. Parking was nearby as well as a great pub across the road where you can have some pre-dinner drinks. The only criticism was the dead plant in the ladies bathroom ..... will be going again regardless! :o)

Went to this Persian restaurant couple of weeks ago and had the freshest most beautiful food I’ve had for a long time the chicken and lamb was both fantastic as to was the rice

My wife and I had a great meal here last Saturday (a night away from the kids!). The food was excellent with large portions. We shared the starter and main course platters which was a great way to experience the various kebabs. Highly recommend a visit.

Went there for a Friday lunch. Six of us - hosted by an Iranian friend. Very bright and clean decor. The bread was superb. You could see it being cooked so very fresh. Had a wide selection of food chosen by our host. All was very delicious.

My staple foods whilst out and about seem to middle eastern, Persian, North African etc.

I have visited this fab find Persian restaurant many times now when I visit Worcester park from my native Glasgow and the food is mouthwatering with more than generous portions Staff are exceptionally friendly and the service is great 5stars all the way

My partner and I have found our true love. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing which was reflected in their food. I ordered the Khoresht Gheymeh and my partner ordered the vegan option, which I cannot believe they had. :) It was delicious! What made our experience even better was everyone was very happy to help us! The staff seemed happy at their jobs which was reflected in their service and we had the service we always need at a restaurant. We will definitely be coming back!!!

We have had two takeaways when we visit my dad from Devon. Food has been really nice both times. Plenty of it and friendly service. The halloumi cheese to start is lovely. Give it a try.

Authentic Persian food and really, really tasty. We were two families and got a warm welcome upon arrival. I particularly liked their Panir Sabzi, Koobideh and Barg. It's a cozy place, not huge therefore usually full on weekends. Make sure you book in advance.

The food is spot on. Stated in many reviews its authenticity; they aren't lying! It's also very good value. Looking forward to returning and exploring the menu.

6 of us visited Tanoor after a recommendation from a friend in Worcester Park. The food was absolutely delicious and we were expertly attended to by Naz - Tanoor’s superb (and very beautiful) host. All in all a fantastic evening. If you want delicious, authentic Persian food, make the journey - you won’t regret it.

My husband and I have been here many times and it always delivers and nothing is too much trouble. Delicious food, great ambiance and value for money. Staff always welcoming and extremely helpful. Great restaurant and fabulous location.

We went there on a Saturday night with a group of 6. The staff were great and the food tasty. The only issue we had was with smoke from the grill which made our eyes water. It was a chilly evening and people sitting by the door obviously didn't want to have the door open. A shame as it made us want to leave sooner than we wanted. Its a great place but not exactly an up market Saturday night out experience. But it depends on what you want. We will definitely try it again but probably midweek.

Having bought new kitchen appliances and having to alter the kitchen to take them, a longer job than I thought, I realised that there was no way we were able to cook food until I finished the job the next day. The problem was I was that tired I didn't feel like going out!

Plenty of choices on the menu. Food tasted freshly cooked and good size portions. The bread was perfect and as good as i have ever tasted. Staff were friendly and were very helpful explaining what the different dishes were. Will be returning soon

Just back from eating here. Nothing fancy, just good value, tasty food and delightful, friendly and helpful staff. The smoked aubergine starter and garlic naan exceptional and really good chicken kebab. Generous portion sizes too. My only criticism would be that my menu choice was restricted by the fact I don't like lamb. However, positives far outweigh that one negative. Will definitely return.

I have visited this place several times and they do not disappoint! Everything is absolutely delicious, from the mixed platter to my favourite ghormeh Sabzi and then their delicious refreshing pot of tea and desserts. I recommend this place, I travel all the way from north London to come and eat here and I have never regretted it! The service is spectacular and very friendly.

Visited Tanoor for the second time and was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious food, restaurant was absolutely packed and fully booked. However we were still squeezed in. The young lady who runs this restaurant is delightful. Highly recommend

I went to tanoor for a birthday, I must say it was very very delicious. I ate all the food and ordered some take away for my husband. The food was very good price and the amount was very large. I recommend to everybody to try this restaurant!

After reading the good reviews I was really excited to visit this restaurant. The house wine was perfectly chilled and very nice. There was four of us so we all picked a different starter so we could all share. Olives had a weird taste. The chicken and egg just tasted like egg mayonnaise, the smoked aubergine had a very strong after taste and the soup was tasteless. All the mains were served with a very unimaginable salad and tasteless fluffy rice. My king prawns looked great but again no real taste. The main waitress is lovely and very friendly and welcoming. We had to ask for cutlery for our main dish.

We had a takeaway from and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. There was a mixup with our order so we waited longer than the advised 40 minutes for delivery but the food was plentiful and delicious.

We returned from holiday exhausted to be greeted with empty fridge at home. Since it was a nice sunny evening we chose to head out for dinner. We'd heard some good reviews of Tanoor and because it had outdoor tables we opted for it over other local restaurants. We were greeted by the waitress who was so friendly and brilliant with the kids. She was able to help recommend some dishes and advise on quantities. We had one of the aubergine starters with some naan, then a mixed grill and a stew for main course, all of which was very reasonably priced. We shared everything and it was all delicious, everyone enjoyed it including our 11 month old twins. Would recommend and will definitey visit again. Thanks Tanoor!

A great addition to New Malden, really good vibe and polite staff that talk you through the options. The Halloumi is a must! Will be returning for sure

We had a lovely meal here today. The food is fresh, tasty and unusual. Very good for vegetarians and my two year old enjoyed it too. The atmosphere is lovely - very friendly and the staff were really kind to my son. We will definitely be back

This is my second visit to Tanoor, a relatively new comer to Worcester Park dining out scene. I will be coming regularly as both times the boneless Joojeh kebabs we ordered were the best we’ve had.

I’d noticed Tanoor for a couple of months but hadn’t got round to trying it.

Joojeh chicken is really soft, juicy and delicious. Koobideh is one of the best I have had. No smell of meat and it’s juicy as well. Decent portions size. Fresh Hot bread with hummus is worth a mention.

Tried it out for lunch today with a friend as I love Persian cuisine and have been twice to Iran in the 1970s. Tanoor is absolutely authentic, the grilled skewers and fluffy rice both delicious. As other reviewers have noted there are cheaper restaurants in this area but in terms of quality, presentation and portion size, Tanoor is excellent value. Well done to the young sister and brother running it and we look forward to returning soon with our families.

2nd visit to this great local restaurant, run by people who really care about the food they serve. Unlike so many places, they really want to know the answer when they ask “how is your food?” - and the answer is that it’s delicious!

Ordered for home delivery. The food was hot and service was fantastic. I had the Khoresht-e-Bademjon dish and was blown away -- very delicious. It was nice to see a restaurant with decent portion sizes for a change. I'll definitely be ordering again!

Next Tuesday (20th March) is Persian New Year and Tanoor have a special Persian New Year Dish on for a week to celebrate their tradition and cuisine. So today we decided to go and try it.

I ordered a home delivery on mother day. food arrived on time and was piping hot. The barg kebab was the best I have had for a long time,so tender and well cooked. Portion were ample and well presented.will be ordering again

Really good restaurant with lovely staff and great food. I had the Khorosht -e- bademjoon which was great - the lamb was really tender and the sauce was delicious. The portions are very generous so it's really good value for money. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I came here for lunch after hearing that an Iranian restaurant had opened in Worcester Park. I had the ghormeh sabzi khoresht (herb, lamb stew) with rice.

I'd seen & heard good reports so was keen to check it out. It's already become very popular in the local area and I can see why.

Just found this new persian resturant at the Plough Worcester Park, Surrey. Very good food, helpfull good staff, nice suroundings, resonable price, easy parking. Recomended. Steve & Julie

I had not eaten Persian food before and so was not at all sure what to order. However, when I explained this to the waitress she seemed genuinely delighted to have the opportunity to talk about the food and guided me and my partner to dishes that would be a good introduction to Persian cuisine. We were not disappointed. All the food was really tasty, obviously freshly prepared, and there was plenty of it. We had intended having a dessert but after the Starter and Main courses we were so full that we couldn't eat another thing - in fact my partner had to ask for a "doggy bag" for what she hadn't managed to eat.

Delicious food, and really friendly service. I had take away a few days ago and dined in tonight before Valentines Day as I couldn't make it tomorrow, and was really impressed. Definitely recommend. Loved the Valentines decorations.

Myself and my partners family (group of 4 in total) visited here on Tuesday night (6th Feb). We arrived approx 7:30pm and there was one other table who were paying as we were sat.

Fresh ingredients, great service, great taste. Just what we needed in the area. We tried take away of Kobideh, Gheime and Fesenjon. Brilliant.

Visited the Tanoor with two other couples yesterday evening. Couldn't be more impressed. The food was amazing, the ambience perfect, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the price was very reasonable. Be careful when you order a starter, as the main meal portions were huge.
