Popped in for a late lunch. Had two delicious kebabs and some lovely Baba Ghanoush. Very reasonable prices, good service and delicious food

Wonderful food. We've always wanted to eat there and finally got round to it, was so glad we tried it, food is so delicious and very generous portions. Nice friendly staff.

We drove from Surrey yesterday to Ranya and it was absolutely awful, the server guy was absolutely a joke, unprofessional to the maximum and had zero interest to do any job whatsoever and was consistently on the phone in his watch and passing comments to his female colleague who were decent in their job. The Food was absolutely pathetic, there was raw meat smell as we entered, if we didn’t drive 1hr to reach the restaurant we would not have eaten there, everything was bad, we got the chicken tikka and lamb chops and it was very average, the garlic paste they gave was awful, I make better ones at home and I don’t even know how to cook. Absolutely disappointed rushed out of the restaurant asap. UPDATE after owners comments : We were 3 of us come in around 10pm sat at the table right in front of the counter ( You had 2 waitresses and one waiter incompetent at his job). Check your CCTV that you claim to check firstly acknowledge your mistakes no wonder your restaurant was empty. If you don’t change you will close soon. I asked about parking before entering your resturant.

Nice family restaurant. Unfortunately, the service is very prejudiced against non -Kurds. I recommended the restaurant to some guests of mixed origins where our party totalled eight. At the end of the meal we requested some tea. During a twenty minute span where I requested tea three times and tea was being served to all the Kurdish guests, I realized they would not serve us. It was very embarrassing to hear the manager tell the waiter that as soon as we left to give our table to some Kurdish customers seated nearby. I might not be Kurdish and don't look like I'm from the region but I can read the whole menu in Arabic. Seriously, it would have taken 5 minutes to serve some tea and we would have been happily on our way.

Delicious food, delighted by its cost effectiveness, authenticity and quality. The staff is very friendly but perhaps a little too busy. Looks like me and my family are going to be a regular visitor and recommend others too

The place serves generous amount of food so don't worry about the portion size. And if you are lucky, you might get some extra stew and bread on the house. The place is totally worth the visit, it's my favourite in Kingston.

I ordered online, I asked for gluten free items and it was great to know that they do have them. I asked to not have the bread included and to be replaced with rice, my request was ignored and I couldn't eat the tandoori bread because of gluten allergies. Edit: I was not contacted, and even if you were unable to replace the items. Not including them would've been better rather then having them go to waste sadly.

Excellent food, huge portions with lots of extra stuff free (soup starter, homous and bread free). Excellent and friendly service all for very reasonable prices. Definitely going back and would highly recommend it to anyone going to Kingston Upon Thames.

Yesterday was our first visit to this restaurant. However, the food was disappointing from both sides, quality and quantity! First of all, the chicken tikka was still pink and raw from the inside. Secondly, Once you have got your order on the table, you can clearly notice the small quantity of the food although it's not Cheap at all. Neither rice nor Chips comes with the meal . We ordered the large chips, and had a flat plate with less than fifteen skinny fingers of french fries! I told the waitress but we ordered the large one and she said this was the large one. So you can guess the size of the regular one 😐. It's never like the other Iraqi restaurants!! I don't recommend this restaurant and that was our first and last visit!

After food I asked for fresh Lemonade, they brought me then the check including my drink before bringing my drink! then they brought my drink which was Soda Lemonade not fresh one, then the waiter came after 2 minutes asking me to leave because he has a waiting list! I even asked for a paper cup he brought espresso paper cup! It was really impolite!

Shame on the manager or staff behaviour. It is a cheap restaurant regarding the costumer service and cleaning . I’ve been in there with my daughter and before I enter I asked staff that it is ok to just order a dinner for her since I haven’t got any appetite and the staff said yes. but after that the manager or owner that I don’t know who, was arguing with staff that why I just order one food. His voice was quit loud that everyone in restaurant can hear him argument regarding my order , so I just canceled my order and we went out of there . The customer service was terrible and rude . If they was nice definitely I am becoming one the regular costumer but he lost one customer and I am sure he will lost more customer regularly. At the end , money is not every thing Your behaviour and your manner could make money. shame on you Regarding your reply to me : first of all I didn’t ask for free tea or free soup I order chicken nugget with chips for my daughter and soup for my self and ask for hot water which is unmake sense for you!? Our family has been visiting this restaurant for the past 7 years , we always enjoyed the food but after eating the food I always forgot to leave a review.This time it's a special day for me since it's my son's birthday and the kebab's served here were so fresh that our stomach and heart both filled too much. Lovely food always. Lovely staff always. Lovely restaurant always.I would definitely recommend to try this restaurant at least once then I bet you will be a regular customer here .

Really tasty food with good prices for the portion sizes. Staff were also really kind and served us with lentil soup,hummus and bread on the house as starters. Once we finished eating,we also got complimentary tea and a slice of Baklava each!!! Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic iraqi cousine , staffs are freindly and prices reasonable. I have been offered complementary lentil soup, Houmose with freshly baked breads . I higly recommend the quzi lamb shank served with 2 stews

We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We threw out all the food; it wasn't edible at all. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Please check the photos to see for yourself.

First of all, you should accept any review, whether positive or negative. In this case, it was negative, you should work to fix it, not claim that the customer has racial problems. No one mentioned racism; we simply stated that the service was very poor, and the workers treated us poorly.

Great food. Complementary lentil soup, humous with bread is very generous. Portion sizes of mains are also big. Prices are also very cheap considering the portions sizes are huge it’s a big win.

They refuse customers to buy a drink and use their public toilet. YOU HAVE TO ORDER FOOD! Rude staff. The restaurant opposite them is quite understanding.

Ordered a selection of dishes and everything was fantastic. My first time trying Iraqi cuisine and I will definitely order again. The lamb neck and the shank were both stunning. Portion sizes are very large. Make sure you order with an empty stomach.

Delicious traditional Kurdish food, I tried the Kabab it was fantastic, location is very good and atmosphere is calm, highly recommended.

Kicked us out because our 4 YEAR OLD had chicken nuggets from another restaurant, the manager himself, kicked us out, they lost out on a roughly £150 bill from us because they decided to kick us out. Okay if it's an adult fine, but a CHILD. Don't come to this absolute joke of a restaurant

It's only expected that children would be drawn to such an attraction. I understand the concern for safety, but I must point out that Reuben's approach to addressing this was rather hasty. He raised his voice and instructed the kids to move before I could even intervene. I encourage you to review the CCTV footage closely to fully grasp the situation. 2. **Restaurant Atmosphere:** While it's true that a dinner voluntarily relocated to accommodate us, no other customers left or changed tables due to our group. 3. **Child's Distress:** It's unfortunate that your account portrays a lack of care on our part. When the child became upset, one of the parents promptly ordered food to address his hunger, while the other parent tried to comfort him. Eventually, the father took the child outside to soothe him. This incident, though challenging, was managed responsibly and attentively. 4. **Lady Interaction:** It appears there might have been a lapse in your manager's recollection of events. I was seated at one of the table for six, and I initially ordered your mix grill of 12 skewers for approximately £69. Oddly, before I could even proceed with further ordering, he immediately mentioned the need to check the meat availability for such a quantity of kebabs. This approach struck me as peculiar, especially since he had suggested ordering the kebabs separately. He also persisted in recommending kids' menu options for each child, a suggestion I respectfully declined. Instead, I proceeded with the order of 12 skewers, a decision that Rueben appeared displeased with. Additionally, I ordered two more main meals. In fact, when Rueben expressed dissatisfaction with our order. The second table of six added two more main dishes and a variety of starters. Altogether, we placed an order equivalent to 10 main meals, along with side orders and starters. In consideration of the meal costs, it's worth highlighting that if each adult had ordered a single main meal, the total would have amounted to £72 (£12 x 6 = £72). Similarly, if all the children had ordered one of the child meals, the total would have equalled £72 (£6 x 12 = £72). Rueben's dissatisfaction with our order led him to become increasingly discourteous. He went so far as to imply that we had not ordered enough food and that he could have profited more by giving our table to other customers. This rude behaviour, witnessed by our entire party, prompted the lady to intervene. This intervening diner, a regular customer of yours for the past six years, merely questioned what our options would be if the children were unable to consume the amount of food suggested. However, Rueben's ongoing rudeness provoked her to point out the inappropriateness of his previous behaviour when he shouted at the children. In an unexpected and offensive response, Rueben then chose to ask her to leave. Let me be clear: there was no bullying or profanity involved in this exchange. I implore you to uphold the principles of honesty and refrain from fabricating stories. It's essential to clarify that this interaction between the lady and Rueben lasted less than a minute before I continued the discussion. Rueben's reaction to a woman's input he openly expressed his astonishment that a woman would be involved. His repetition of this sentiment exemplifies a troubling male chauvinist attitude. Given the unfortunate demeanour displayed by Rueben, we had no inclination to continue dining at your establishment. Consequently, we paid for the child's meal that had been served and promptly departed. I have spent far too long on this matter especially when a nice day out with family and friends was ruined by your establishment. We have no intention to ever set foot at your establishment again and good luck to any one who attends with a large group consisting with kids.

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Ranya where I hosted a party of 18 people, including 6 adults and 12 children. Having visited the restaurant on several occasions before, and with a friend who is a regular patron, I was shocked by the way we were treated and compelled to share my experience. The incident that stands out the most was when a few of the children in our group innocently approached the fish tank. Instead of addressing the situation in a professional manner, the manager, Ruben, resorted to shouting at them. This incident not only frightened the children but also left a sour taste in the mouths of the adults present. What was even more distressing was Ruben's attitude throughout the entire ordeal. His behavior was nothing short of horrible and disgusting. He exhibited a complete lack of respect and consideration for his customers, which left me deeply unsettled. Furthermore, I was appalled by how Ruben interacted with women in our party. He spoke down to them and displayed a condescending demeanor that was both offensive and unacceptable. It was clear that his disrespectful behavior extended beyond just our group and was a regular occurrence. The issues continued when it came to ordering our food. I placed an order for 12 skewers and six other main dishes. However, Ruben continuously berated us, insisting that the quantity of food we ordered was insufficient. This not only made us uncomfortable but also highlighted his blatant disregard for our preferences and his aggressive upselling tactics. What was meant to be a family-friendly establishment turned out to be anything but that. Ruben's conduct and the overall atmosphere made it evident that this was not a well-run family business, and I fear that his behavior will severely impact the restaurant's reputation. Adding insult to injury, Ruben audaciously mentioned that if there were 18 adults at the tables, they would have ordered more food. This not only felt disrespectful but also hinted at a level of discrimination based on our group composition. In my eyes, this restaurant's primary concern seemed to be profits, with little regard for how they treated their customers. The entire experience was marred by this establishment's single-minded focus on monetary gain, rather than providing a positive and respectful environment for its patrons. Ultimately, the sum of these experiences led me to feel unwelcome and disrespected, almost as if there was an underlying form of racism at play. It's disheartening to think that a place I had previously enjoyed visiting could turn out to be such a disappointment. I sincerely hope that Ranya takes these criticisms to heart and makes significant changes to ensure that future customers do not endure the same terrible encounter that my party and I faced.

Well where do I start? Maybe with Ruben, who has the most arrogant and rude attitude towards customers I've even encountered. I was recommended this establishment by friends. However, it seems this little family run business has forgotten its roots, doesn't care about its customers and feels its become too big to fail. Ruben's attitude to other customers who had complained about various things - the ac being too cold, slow service, food, etc.. - was to say the if you don't like it, then leave. We hadn't even ordered our food at this point, but he clearly wasn't in a good mood. He kept telling us certain items were unavailable, forcing us to choose the more expensive items on the menu and eventually we realised we had to leave. The place has completely gone downhill, and we were with friends who are regulars but he didn't care the slightest. I'd be happy to discuss the experience and review with the owners, but definitely not Ruben. Get him out before he ruins your business and reputation completely.

We usually visit Ranya over the weekends or special occasions. It has always been an outstanding place with deliciously fresh food and service. The staff is extremely polite, the complimentary starters are amazing and food is actually tasty. The manager is most humble. We are fans of mixed grill platter as being a big family so we’ve mostly tried grills and salads. Sorry no pictures this time but I’ll surely do few clicks in the future. Highly recommended to visit this restaurant!

Lovely staff and service. Unfortunately the atmosphere was ruined by the owner who came into the restaurant. He was a slimey character with a botoxed face and dressed like a cheap mob-boss. His attitude was exactly as you'd expect. The front-of-house staff all stiffened up as soon as he arrived. They looked stressed and scared. He didn't greet any of them and just prowled around, inspecting the place before he took a seat. He then got served before we did. I hope this review makes him consider how he treats his staff, which was evidently awful. The staff were brilliant and can't be faulted. Sadly another restaurant ran by seemingly abusive owners. It's sad that we line their pockets, when they wouldn't exist without the people they treat so poorly. Edit: not a fake review. I visited on 2nd July 2023. Happily will come in and discuss this with you. When will you be available?

I have eaten at the restaurant 3-4 times before and the food is always really good. I thought okay, let me order on Uber eats. The way my kebab was mashed up and thrown in the box, given 1 tiny salad per 2 orders of kebab, no soup, burnt bread, some weird aubergine mix instead of tapsi - I was so disappointed. —- Ranya replied by saying it’s Ubers fault my food looked like this…. Did Uber burn my bread and forget to give me 2 salads? Did they put the kebab in the box? No. —— Wish I had just gone there to eat and not ordered as it was a waste of money and honestly we were still hungry after. Oh and it took SO LONG!! Also I don’t know why but my nails stain yellow when I eat here … only here!!! But at home (we have the same cuisine) and any other restaurant, this isn’t the case. Strange. As for when I dine in, the staff are really nice, sweet ladies, very attentive. And the atmosphere is okay. Don’t like sitting at the back of the restaurant as it smells of toilet - so won’t do that again. But overall, very upset by how we were treated via delivery. Won’t be ordering ever again.

The service is attentive and helpful, the food is excellent, the price is excellent as are the portion sizes. Gashau, the Manageress was very helpful, walked in without booking on a Saturday afternoon. £50 for three people, two courses, plus drinks.

Rude management and service. They brought the bill and we haven’t finished ordering. We only were there for one hour. We will not go back again for a rubbish class treatment and customer service. Money can’t buy you manners and this is a message to the owner and his threatening behaviour towards decent customers. I also won’t recommend it to anyone I know

Ranya Kingston is a traditional Iraqi restaurant located right in the centre of Kingston, it primarily offers a lot of authenticity and a taste of the menu that you only find in the unspoiled areas of the East. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff pleasant. The free starters offered before you order is a total blessing, the lentil soup simply tantalizing even the numbest of taste buds. Please try to contradict me 😊

Thank you for your reply, I will check myself if I'm allergic as you said. Even though it is impossible that the whole family is allergic. There must be something that you served was expired. We had horrible stomach pain after we had your food. I had a day off work, kids didn't go school as they were vomiting 🤮. Remember, I have nothing against you and I called you on the next day to report what happened but because you are a super kind person and you are well educated YOU START SWEARING ON US. Very delicious Iraqi food. Pleasant staff . The complimentary lentil soup, hummus and freshly cooked flat bread was delicious . We had the grilled Sea-bass with salad and rice . This was cooked to perfection as was the grilled whole chicken with salad 😋. Everything was good , but the 4 tiny grilled chicken wings even though tasty were not good value at £6.99 they should be cheaper or at least 6 wings . I would go back as food was fresh and delicious 😋 Sorry we started to eat the food before we could photograph it properly ha ha ha ha

Served main course before the starter and dumped everything on the table all at once leaving no space on the table. Asked for fresh orange juice and got orange and lemon together. when we asked to pack the left over food as we ordered too much the lady gave us the container and told us to pack it ourselves. Very disappointed with the service as I expected to see good food and service due to its ratings but it was the opposite. Yaprak and Tamara lounge are better than this one.

We love this place. Been there many times there with family and friends. The food is great and has a good portion size. The naan is fresh and large. Complimentary tea at the end. If you want to try Iraqi Kurdish food this is the place to go. You can park along the street or at the Bentalls centre.

I went here with a few work friends and, I have to say. What a pleasant evening. The food was delicious. The prices are very reasonable. And the service was great. It was quiet on the night we went. But, I have a feeling that it could be quite a spirited place when full.

It was my first time trying Iraqi food. It was delicious, the portions were pretty big but then again I went after fasting. The service was relatively quick considering it was quite busy. They also provided complimentary hummus and local Kurdish fresh bread. They have a variety of dishes and kebabs. Half their menu is in Farsi or Persian. There’s no alcohol being served which I personally love. The food was very tasty and we were also able to get takeaway boxes to take home. I definitely recommend.
