Uninspiring dining experience, only bread was OK.

I have done 2 takeaways of the naan bread so far. The first time they packed old naan bread mixed with fresh ones. The second time I asked them specifically to make it fresh. They made it fresh but some of them were undercooked and you can actually see patches of raw dough on the sides. The owner is a bit fussy. If you have noisy kids don’t take them here , you will be literally kicked out of the restaurant by the owner. Food is ok but extremely bad customer service.

This restaurant used to be my favorite, but my experience yesterday was extremely disappointing. I went with my father, and the staff were rude to us. They threw the food onto the table in a very disrespectful manner. One staff member, in particular, a lady wearing glasses, was especially rude. They served tea that had spilled onto the tea plate, and the baklava was inedible. The food had a terrible smell. Two days ago, when the owner was present, the staff were much nicer, and the service was excellent, even the food tasted better. However, yesterday, without the owner's presence, the atmosphere was chaotic.

It was OK but not as good as first visit, where staff were friendlier and lamb had a better consistency and was more generous. Bread first time just came out of oven so was lovely and fresh. Not this time.

Ranya is my most visited restaurant in London, They have one of the best Iraqi Kebab recipes in the town, although I visit it very frequently and always wanted to try something new, I can hardly sacrifice getting 2-3 Kebab Skewers. Their location is great being very near to Kingston station. Their staff and manager are very helpful and generous.

We have been coming here for two years, and each visit delights us with generous portions, excellent flavors, and a pleasant atmosphere. The dishes are always fresh and aromatic, made with care, and truly capture the essence of Iranian cuisine. A special thanks to the staff — the service is always top-notch. The team is polite and attentive, creating a cozy environment that makes you want to come back again and again. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy delicious, hearty meals with warm hospitality, this restaurant is the perfect choice!

The place impressed me a lot. I did expect to such amazing food. If you visit Ranya, do not eat anything entire day. The size of food and taste are in different level.

Very good food and compared with other restaurants is cheaper

It was our second time coming here for dinner, both times having a great experience. This time we had gluten free rice kibeh, hummus, falafel and tabbouleh salad. For mains we picked aubergine stew, 3 kebabs: iraqi special, stuffed lamb and chicken together with rice and chips and of course bread. We had lovely time, the atmosphere was cosy, stuff was attentive and food delicious. We got complimentary black tea and baklava. Amazing service! We will be back soon. Phil and Julia

Always love eating at Ranya. I try to come here every time I’m in Kingston. Absolute faves are the lentil soup, and lamb dishes. Their portion sizes are huge and include so many side dishes and for £12-£16. Service is the best too and they always make you feel at home.

Upon my arrival, I was met with an exceptionally warm and inviting reception from the friendly staff, including the manager. The culinary offerings were outstanding, complemented by complimentary soup, hummus, salad, and fresh bread, which enriched the overall experience. I chose the exquisite Kuzi Lamb Shank accompanied by rice and two stews, all of which were prepared to perfection. The service was exemplary; characterised by attentive staff and prompt delivery of food to the table. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning, and I would highly recommend Ranya to anyone. Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to all Ranya's staff members, including the management, for a delightful experience. 😊

I'm not usually too adventurous with food, but I was here with my team last night after a meeting. Fantastic restaurant, friendly staff who answered my silly questions about the food, complimentary lentil soup, and everything was delicious, especially the beriani rice, definitely worth it! If you're in the area and are looking for some tasty food with big portions and friendly staff, you're in the right place!

Always a delight to order Dolma from Ranya, traditional Iraqi food: stuffed veggies and vine leaves accompanied with deliciously cooked meat. I have tried many in London, this one is my favourite. Place is clean, service is fast and waitresses very pleasant. My husband loves their Kuzi, it is really nice!

We got off to a good start with a complimentary lentil soup and humus. The grilled sea bass and beryani rice with aubergine stew were both tasty. The portions are generous and the service attentive.

Worst Kabab i have ever had, i could like hold and fight with like a belt, tasteless. Loud music which did not even sound kurdish or iraqi at all. Very respectful ladies serving though. We came Friday night around 10pm few weeks ago. My friends did not like their food either. I loved the tea only.

We visited Ranya on the back of its excellent Google reviews and they're pretty bang on in this case. Such is the power of the internet! We didn't make a booking but were luckily found a table despite the restaurant being busy with customers who clearly know their way round Iraqi cuisine. As you might expect the menu is meat heavy with a lot of grilled chicken and lamb in various guises along with some tempting vegetable side dishes. You can even go for the lamb head if you so desire although I'm not sure if that's a special order. What you will receive, without asking, is a tasty bowl of lentil soup and as much flat bread and houmous as you can stomach. You have to be careful to leave enough room for your actual meal because the bread is so thin, light and fresh. It is lovely. On top of this we ordered grilled lamb ribs and a tasty looking chicken dish which came with baked beans and aubergine stew as side dishes. The meat itself was excellent, being both tender and bountiful, with everything else adding to the tasty package. The staff themselves were friendly and helpful if perhaps a little overloaded in responding to requests. It's worth noting that the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol but there's a reasonable range of soft drinks including fresh juices. All in all Ranya is a good place to visit if you're looking for a fresh and filling dinner.

Be very careful. They misunderstood our order, brought the wrong food, and even agreed to having made a mistake but still charged us. Very bad service and the food was mediocre. Will not be returning.

Worst experience ever had! Normally a Kurdish dish served with rice and whatever soup you want but they make it separates for sure the salad and the food was from yesterday the staff were so weird and and disrespectful we have been sitting there for a while no one came to us Avoid at any cost!!!!

Delicious food (we had the lamb kuzi with bean and aubergine stew and chicken tikka and special lamb skewers) and huge portions. They served complimentary lentil soup, hummus, salad and bread to start and tea + balaklava to finish, which was unexpected and lovely! We took away enough leftovers to make a great lunch for us tomorrow. Thanks for the kind service!

We attended Monday afternoon and when we got there they had a table of 3 people who were in a heated discussion over politics and religion expressing extreme views which made me feel uncomfortable. The food was horrible the meat smelt really bad the mix meze was again was really bad considering we go there quite often and it is normally nice this time it was not. Towards the end of the meal the waitress bought over tea split it on my partner’s brand new bag which I bought for her birthday and went to get products to clean which unfortunately did not help after visiting the dry cleaners and the shop I bought it from on the same day in Kingston both advised this could not be cleaned due to the material and the colour and once cleaned the shape and colour will change. We then went back to the restaurant the manager came over very aggressively and said he would not a pay a penny and cannot see anything wrong which did not help the situation at all we went back to do ask for their insurance details to claim on it as it was not fair on the waitress to pay for it out of her own pocket he stated they do not have no insurance or public liability insurance which is worrying and another thing he kept saying god gave him eyes and he can’t see anything through out the whole interaction he kept smiling very cocky and did not calm the situation at all also threatened to call the police he also made his own member of staff cry. Avoid this place at all cost the manager is very rude and as he states they do not have no insurance so if anything happened you will not be able to claim. We have also made a complain on the alternative dispute resolution for consumers. Also reading through other reviews Ruben seems to be the problem on how he talks to people and how he degrades women which I assume it is quite normal to him due and yes I am pretty sure you will say you watched the 24 hour cctv and it does not show the member of staff dropping the tea on the bag. Funny enough he refused to check the cctv on the day but he seems mention throughout the other comments. Ruben I have proof of purchase of the bag and that has a picture on it too. You never had a queue in fact when we got there you were not even in the shop at the time. You seem to get confused you treat your members of staff like slave we asked to claim on your insurance you stated you never had any insurance which is strange you then said you don’t care she can pay out of her own pocket which then she cried you made a young girl cry she was never racially abused not a single racial comment was made once again you are falsely accusing people you seem to have a problem with non Kurdish people also you work in hospitality industry people come to spend there hard earned money we do not need you shouting in our face with your spit going everywhere. You do not have a sign to state that you will not take any responsibility for damages cost by your staff. I have never queued outside this establishment and never will getting an a formal apology that is never going to happen as you threatened that day to call the police you should of. You tried to serve me meat that was off and tasted really bad. You should also reflect on how you talk to people but mainly women as you are very cocky you wouldn’t like it if someone spoke to your mother or wife like that. As stated I have made a complaint I have evidence of purchase so all good.

Utterly disappointed in the awful all round experience and what I witnessed when attending this restaurant recently. The staff are extremely rude, especially the owner! A poor customer had drinks spilt all over her handbag, she was visibly upset and rightly so. The waitress was more than apologetic clearly admitting to the fault when the owner came out (a gentleman) who was verbally abusive, throwing accusations of scams, and overall completely unprofessional not only to the customer and but also to his staff. The food was mediocre at best. It was served cold and honestly quite repulsive. Cleanliness is an issue also! This was the first and last time I attend here and urge anyone thinking of visiting this restaurant to give it a swerve and take your custom elsewhere!

This was a nice change to the regular places we eat in the area. Good points: -Halal food -Very good value for money. The lamb shank with two sides and fresh bread are amazing. -The free lentil soup is delicious and a rare thing in UK restaurants -Nice ambience Bad points: -Some staff are racists. They give more attention to Arab customers -They ran out of ice. -When I went to eat the second time, no free sweets were given -No close by parking

Been here three time- twice with a mate and once with family. First time I came here didn't know what to expect and I normally eat at a Lebanese restaurant just opposite but fancied something different. Iraqi/Kurdish cuisine is similar to Lebanese but it They give you a nice starter (bread and lentil soup) complimentary. For mains had a chicken kebab and they brought our lovely black tea and baklawa. The bill was also surprisingly reasonable. The second time I came with family was a very busy night - so we sat near the door and they just about squeezed us in (they don't take reservations btw). This time food was cold, chicken kebab was ok but the lamb seekh was charred on the outside but a little too rare for my liking but still ok overall. Third time - the minced kebab was just charred on the outside and plain raw on the inside. Staff didn't seem bothered... Consistency seems to be the biggest issue with this restaurant. If they can fix this it would be a lot better in my view. Good service and helpful staff and very well priced. I think you just need to find those hidden gems on the menu...

Had a wonderful dining experience here! The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were very generous. I had the lamb biryani which came with two stews. Was also served complementary soup, salad, bread and hummus, which was a pleasant surprise. Definitely good value for money. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Really nice decor as well. The food here is delightful, with complimentary soup, hummus, salad, and fresh bread enhancing the experience. I highly recommend visiting if you’re craving grilled chicken or lamb. For those feeling adventurous, the lamb shank, biryani, and stew are excellent choices. In my case, I opted for the mixed grill with chicken, lamb, and kofte. The last of which turned out to be my favourite! It had a unique flavour distinguishing itself from other kofte I've had in the past. Although I didn't have time to stay for the complimentary tea, I’ll definitely be back to try it!

Good place for halah food. Middle East taste

It was a long weekend and I was in Kingston to visit my friend. We couldn't decide what to eat so we just decided to hop around the riverside and high side to look for something to try. Our decision was to go to Wendy's if we are unable to find anything. Just as we were about to go for our original plan, a smell from a restaurant attracted us indicating that we should try it out. The Iraqi tag on it made me even more curious to see what Iraqi cuisine is like as I had always been wanting to try it out. The service was top notch. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and professional. I loved the fact that they gave us a complimentary Lentil Soup. We couldn't decide what to order as it was our first time trying Iraqi cuisine but the waitress was kind enough to tell us what we should try and we went with Kuzi Chicken. I was really impressed with the quantity and at such an economical price. Rice is something that I don't eat alone and I believe if you add curry to it, it gives it more flavour. However this rice was amazing on it. I preferred the rice over the chicken. The chicken was also good but it's more of personal preference thing for me but rice for me was the star of the show and the stews were incredible and went really well with the rice and kuzi chicken. In the end as it's my tradition to have tea at any restaurant I go to, this one was no exception. I loved the colour and texture of the tea as it looked very aesthetic and it tasted amazing. It was a wonderful conclusion to a really great meal that transported us to Iraq. I will definitely visit again with more friends because if you haven't had Iraqi cuisine, then you are missing out.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The vibe was very exotic and very welcoming. All staff were very polite and professional. They were smiling to customers all the time. The food was amazing. Very generous portion sizes and flavour were surprisingly good. Even though I never had Iraqi food, my husband and I fully enjoyed every single bits of the food. Definitely recommend this place and will come back again.

This is a real gem of a restaurant in Kingston tucked down Fife Road near the cinema. Not as busy as the restaurants on the river. It's called an Iraqi restaurant but specialises in Kurdish cuisine, which is from Northern Iraq. The food here is delicious and bountiful. The portions are huge and great value. We left with a big bag of food.

I’ve eaten here around 3 times now and it just gets better each time we visit. From the family style food, complimentary hummus and bread, to the amazing attentive staff, I cannot fault this place at all. As much as I don’t want to be queueing out the door for food, this place really deserve all the customers and everyone in Kingston should try out this place!

Genuinely such friendly staff. Absolutely ten out of ten service, they were brilliant and constantly came to our table to give us free starters and soups. First time I went here I recieved a free soup, free hummus and free crispy bread which I actually took home. It was really nice of them, and I think they could see that it was my first time trying their food as a Chinese person. Great food, really flavourful in every single dish they had. It was great. Their most popular signature dish was so tender and was absolutely divine. Amazing atmosphere, very peaceful or very happy depending on the occasion and people. Ranya is amazing, and I think that's evident from the amount of people coming here and such.

I understand why I didn't like this place, because the people that visit that place are people that are not from the Middle East, the food was over cooked , their kibba was sooooooo dry, I felt like I bit a piece of rock,l. I took someone to this place thinking the reviews were 4.4, but honestly the environment for me was not nice, it was cramped. Good was not great at all, tasteless, I will never ever visit this place ever again !!!! Avoid this place, trust me

AVOID!!!!!!!! I think is in new management as services it use to be so good I’ve got my meat cold and really disgusting I’ve ask the stuff for another one the throw in the microwave top up with some pasta I swear never eat so bad in my life when I ask them to take back the plate they just ignore me after 15 min came back and ask me with what I want to replace I wasn’t happy to eat anything else I said no I don’t want to and they charge me for it just because I didn’t want to replace it so disappointed it was the best Arabic restaurant in Kingston definitely won’t recomend to anyone

A wonderful find in Kingston! An intimate, friendly Iraqi restaurant, where I felt more like a guest than a customer. A delicious complimentary lentil soup was served as a starter, along with hummus and oven fresh flatbread. My grilled chicken and salad was delicious. Excellent food and service, large portions and very reasonable prices!

I've been to Ranya half a dozen times in the last few years - I always mean to go much more often, because it's been very good each time. It's Iraqi/Kurdish but if you're unadventurous, don't worry. You can have chicken and chips, shish kebab, stews, lamb shank. Whatever you choose as a main course, you'll get a plate of humus and some flat bread as a starter. The restaurant is not licensed, so you can't have wine or beer with your meal. My lamb shank was perfect, with rice - £16.50. Very good value. The staff have always been very friendly. I'd recommend Ranya for a quick or slow meal, for something adventurous or predictable, and for a nice time with friends or on your own.

Very tasty food good service specially a one guy who surviving us

We drove from Surrey yesterday to Ranya and it was absolutely awful, the server guy was absolutely a joke, unprofessional to the maximum and had zero interest to do any job whatsoever and was consistently on the phone in his watch and passing comments to his female colleague who were decent in their job. The Food was absolutely pathetic, there was raw meat smell as we entered, if we didn’t drive 1hr to reach the restaurant we would not have eaten there, everything was bad, we got the chicken tikka and lamb chops and it was very average, the garlic paste they gave was awful, I make better ones at home and I don’t even know how to cook. Absolutely disappointed rushed out of the restaurant asap. UPDATE after owners comments : We were 3 of us come in around 10pm sat at the table right in front of the counter ( You had 2 waitresses and one waiter incompetent at his job). Check your CCTV that you claim to check firstly acknowledge your mistakes no wonder your restaurant was empty. If you don’t change you will close soon. I asked about parking before entering your resturant.

The place serves generous amount of food so don't worry about the portion size. And if you are lucky, you might get some extra stew and bread on the house. The place is totally worth the visit, it's my favourite in Kingston.

Nice family restaurant. Unfortunately, the service is very prejudiced against non -Kurds. I recommended the restaurant to some guests of mixed origins where our party totalled eight. At the end of the meal we requested some tea. During a twenty minute span where I requested tea three times and tea was being served to all the Kurdish guests, I realized they would not serve us. It was very embarrassing to hear the manager tell the waiter that as soon as we left to give our table to some Kurdish customers seated nearby. I might not be Kurdish and don't look like I'm from the region but I can read the whole menu in Arabic. Seriously, it would have taken 5 minutes to serve some tea and we would have been happily on our way.

I ordered online, I asked for gluten free items and it was great to know that they do have them. I asked to not have the bread included and to be replaced with rice, my request was ignored and I couldn't eat the tandoori bread because of gluten allergies. Edit: I was not contacted, and even if you were unable to replace the items. Not including them would've been better rather then having them go to waste sadly.

Yesterday was our first visit to this restaurant. However, the food was disappointing from both sides, quality and quantity! First of all, the chicken tikka was still pink and raw from the inside. Secondly, Once you have got your order on the table, you can clearly notice the small quantity of the food although it's not Cheap at all. Neither rice nor Chips comes with the meal . We ordered the large chips, and had a flat plate with less than fifteen skinny fingers of french fries! I told the waitress but we ordered the large one and she said this was the large one. So you can guess the size of the regular one 😐. It's never like the other Iraqi restaurants!! I don't recommend this restaurant and that was our first and last visit!

After food I asked for fresh Lemonade, they brought me then the check including my drink before bringing my drink! then they brought my drink which was Soda Lemonade not fresh one, then the waiter came after 2 minutes asking me to leave because he has a waiting list! I even asked for a paper cup he brought espresso paper cup! It was really impolite!

Shame on the manager or staff behaviour. It is a cheap restaurant regarding the costumer service and cleaning . I’ve been in there with my daughter and before I enter I asked staff that it is ok to just order a dinner for her since I haven’t got any appetite and the staff said yes. but after that the manager or owner that I don’t know who, was arguing with staff that why I just order one food. His voice was quit loud that everyone in restaurant can hear him argument regarding my order , so I just canceled my order and we went out of there . The customer service was terrible and rude . If they was nice definitely I am becoming one the regular costumer but he lost one customer and I am sure he will lost more customer regularly. At the end , money is not every thing Your behaviour and your manner could make money. shame on you Regarding your reply to me : first of all I didn’t ask for free tea or free soup I order chicken nugget with chips for my daughter and soup for my self and ask for hot water which is unmake sense for you!? Authentic cuisine, welcoming staff and very good price point, generous portions. The place is quite small and simple but the service and food make up for it. Really enjoyed my meal here!

Our family has been visiting this restaurant for the past 7 years , we always enjoyed the food but after eating the food I always forgot to leave a review.This time it's a special day for me since it's my son's birthday and the kebab's served here were so fresh that our stomach and heart both filled too much. Lovely food always. Lovely staff always. Lovely restaurant always.I would definitely recommend to try this restaurant at least once then I bet you will be a regular customer here .

I took my daughter here after work, Food is amazing starter is very filling, so make sure you tell them when your ready for your main. Great service
