Tamasha Grill Restaurant Mapperley in Gedling

I've been here a few times now for breakfast and dinner and have to say consistently that the food is excellent but the service is slow and poor, particularly the drinks. Last night for dinner we waited an hour and 20 for one cocktail, meaning one person in our group of 4 didn't have a drink until the end of her meal. It really isn't good enough and I felt more could have been done than simple apologies to resolve the issue.

The food was nice. Put i do feel the price is to high.

Had an amazing experience at tamasha for a birthday. Was served by Serena and Niha and they were so attentive and friendly. Would recommend to anyone wanting to have an amazing meal with good service !!!!

Bang average food. Pre bought sweet chilli on many items I think. Very very slow service. Waited 1hr 20mins for 2 cocktails. Ordered non alcohol lager, waited over an hour was told it was difficult as it was "downstairs " finally told they had run out. Asked 4 times for jug tap water for table. Given free bottle water (£3 ) and free non alcohol drink to compensate. Serving staff polite and apologetic though however won't be coming back. Couple behind us also complained. 😒

Recently attended and was amazed by the service and atmosphere especially by serena. She was very warm and welcoming and made the experience even better.

Tamasha, once a vibrant and cherished dining destination for us, has sadly dimmed over the past couple of years. We've been loyal customers, returning time and again for the consistently delicious cuisine. However, our recent experiences have left us concerned about the restaurant's declining standards. Our most recent visit was particularly disheartening. The restaurant, practically deserted with only two other tables occupied, felt strangely lifeless. This should have been an opportunity for attentive service and meticulously prepared dishes, but it was far from it. While the food, in its essence, remained tasty, it lacked the finesse and care we'd come to expect. The dishes were slightly over cooked, the vibrant garnishes that once elevated them were noticeably absent, and there was a palpable sense of something missing – the passion and attention to detail that had previously defined Tamasha. It felt as though the love had gone. Perhaps even more troubling was the poor service. In an almost empty restaurant, there is no excuse for being left unattended for 20 minutes, waiting for something as basic as water and an order to be taken. The staff seemed inexperienced and disinterested, failing to create the welcoming and special atmosphere that was once Tamasha's hallmark. This isn't a one-off incident. Over the past four or five visits, we've noticed a gradual but consistent decline. Each time, we've hoped for a return to the Tamasha we knew and loved, but each time we've been met with disappointment. Tamasha holds a special place in our memories, and we sincerely hope that the management takes these concerns seriously. A thorough review of standards and a comprehensive staff training program, particularly in customer service, are required. The potential is still there, the flavours are still present, but without a renewed commitment to excellence, Tamasha risks losing its loyal customers and its once-shining reputation. We truly hope to see Tamasha reclaim its former glory.

Had an amazing meal at Tamasha Grill with the family! The food was full of flavour, and the staff were friendly, particularly Fahima, who was attentively dealing with our order. The atmosphere was great, making it perfect for any occasion. Highly recommend, reasonably priced for the quality and I will definitely be back!

Fahima and Niha were such lovely hostess's, they catered to our every need! The food was lovelyyyy just the right amount of spice and the drinks were stunning! Would deffo recommend!

Sunday morning, sat down 10.20am. 10.40am seen by a waitress for the first time. About to order breakfast and coffee, only to be told there are no hot drinks available because the coffee machine is broken. Really should have been told this the moment I walked through the door! Who doesn’t have a hot drink with their breakfast? Anyway, stayed and gave the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs a chance. Wish i haven’t - dry and grey scrambled eggs, tiniest amount of smoked salmon, cold toast… all for £12 or something along these lines! Very disappointing. Ate quickly as we were hungry and went copper next door where we were greeted by cheery staff, warm atmosphere and hot coffees!

One of them places 'for the gram'. Food plated nicely for picture along with the decoration of the resturant however expensive for what you get. Ordered chicken skewers as a main only got 2 on the plate and were the size of the ones from Iceland. Also ordered lamb shank with mash and gravy. The gravy was spicy which was not in the description and arrived to the table looking like a bowl of soup with a lamb shank bone sticking out of the top. Couldn't taste the mash as was fully covered in gravy which was also not described in the menu. Cocktails were good however small amounts of food for a high price and tasted mediocre.

Jan 2024 visit. Food - Although we had pre-ordered, there was a bit of a wait for the food however with how busy it was the entire time, fairly understandable. Majority of the food was good, lamb chops and lamb shank being the best 2 items we tried. Steaks were not all that but not the worst either. Drinks - Not as many mocktails on the menu compared to what was showing online. The ones we did try were very disappointing, very watery and barley any flavour prior to sending a few back to have some additional syrup added. Would recommend just going for usual soft drinks. Service - From beginning to end, the service was very good. Seated instantly on arrival, table cleared regularly and the staff checked in a couple of times to ensure everything was okay with the food etc.

My boyfriend and I booked for a meal after seeing lots of TikTok reviews on this place, unfortunately it didn’t live up to the expectations. The prices are rather extreme for the type of food being served, £15 for 4 chicken wings as a starter. I ordered the salmon which I really enjoyed however the veg was very charred and tasted burnt. My boyfriend ordered the lamb, after being asked how he would like it cooked and said medium the meat came out very well done and chewey. The waitress we had was great, no complaints there. The restaurant is rather small ,I know that can’t be helped, but felt very cramped and as if we were sitting on the same table as the people next to us. In our opinion the price of the food doesn’t reflect the quality of food or atmosphere of the restaurant

I visited on a Sunday after 6pm. My mains were served and a white male approached the table asking to move the car as the ‘council’ called. Left the mains went out to move the car where I was racially abused. Later made a complaint to the restaurant wanting the details of the alleged council that wanted to the car moved on a Sunday after 6pm as I’d rather have had a parking fine than be racially abused. This is where i discovered there was no council report and the male that approached the table was a manager of the establishment. Just to clarify Tamash Grill had sadly defended the actions of the racism and admitted to lying about the council calling over the car allegedly parked incorrectly. I have messages I’m happy to upload of the conversation I had with the restaurant and to add to insult I had paid for a meal I didn’t eat and asked for a refund. The restaurant blocked me as and admission of guilt. Sickening you run an Indian restaurant with staff of colour that was more sympathetic toward my racial attack than the manager (a man of non colour). The white male managing the restaurant could not answer why he lied about the council call and why he interrupted my meal to put me in a position to be racially attacked. You are a disgraceful human being and ought to be ashamed of yourself. The owner has replied l..I want a refund as the manager forced me to get up just as my mains arrived. I also got blocked on instagram because I requested a refund because I didn’t get to eat my food.

My Birthday Celebration. We arrived 5 minutes before our slot, and were asked to wait over by the bar with a drink while we waited for our table. We grabbed a drink, which we were discounted for which was nice, but the 20 minute wait was not good as we were constantly in the way of other dinner's, and staff. The meal itself was fabulous 👌 I had the mixed grill. The toilets - broken seat, and urine all over the floor. Fatuma, our waitress was polite, professional, and was on the ball for service. My wife had mentioned it was my Birthday, but despite spending a decent amount of money, not even a piece of cheesecake was brought out ( would of been a really nice treat). I have waited a long time to dine at Tamasha, and was really disappointed. Despite the food being excellent, the whole experience was not what we expected from a high end restaurant. You pay for what you get, but not on this occasion!

One of my fave places! Go here all the time! Love the food and the cocktails best lychee martini. I would definitely recommend the lamb chops and the prawns on the tapas. I’ve also tried the brunch menu and the breakfast was so good. Staff are so friendly and welcoming, it’s a must try.

Loved the food and the service.

First visit a few nights ago. My husband and I managed to get a table last minute at 8:15pm. We arrived early, hoping to maybe having a few drinks at the bar, however on arrival, there was no bar to sit at as the restaurant isn't particularly large. Luckily there was a free table and we were seated on arrival. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly and worth the service charge (I personally don't agree with service charges being added, but in this case I was willing to overlook). Great choice on the menu, I had the sea bass and seafood curry which was amazing although for my personal taste, it could have had a bit more heat to the dish. My husband had the sticky chicken which he said was nice but became too sweet after a while. It all came out beautifully presented and plates were cleared away quickly. The bombay potatoes came out only slightly warm. I'm sure if we mentioned it to the staff they would have rectified it immediately but we didn't. The tapas dishes that were coming out looked incredible and good sized portions. The couple next to us highly recommend the firecracker prawns. Although the dishes are pricey, I really don't mind paying for good quality food. We will definitely be back again soon to try the Tapas dishes.

Food was really tasty but the place is small and tables are small and packed in the table being my partner kept bumping into her because the chairs were so tight, (not his fault). We came the night before valentines for a nice meal. We ordered 6 tapas dishes and a side of fries. We were sat at a tiny table, the food didn't even fit on it. It made it really awkward to eat and we didn't get any plates until we asked. We hat to scrape food from some of the tapas plates onto other ones and re arrange the table just to fit it on so we could eat. I just feel for a restaurant that has a tapas menu, you should be able to fit it on a table! They were the ones the recommended 3 plates each. That being said, the food was really tasty, the lamb chops particularly were great. The young lady that served us was really friendly and smiely which was nice. Price wise, I'd say it's a little on the higher side, £90 for 6 tapas dishes, fries and two diet cokes is a bit pricey I feel. I'd like to go again and try the mains and hopefully have a bigger table!

Tamasha has always been one of my fave restaurants but the last 3 times it’s been a deterioration of good service . I arranged a celebration sparkle they didn’t bring it out and totally forgot the suprise , they overcharged by £36 and the waiter was adamant she was right until we had to breakdown the costs with her on our phones .waiters didn’t take away our plates before the next dish so table was overfilled with plates . Very unorganised and it was freezing to the point we didn’t finish our courses.

Vibrant atmosphere. Book in advance. We did get seated next to the door but we asked to be moved by the maitre d. We got lucky and got moved. Faheema our waitress for the night was pleasant, lovely to talk too and very apologetic. Our Australian visitor who we were entertaining loved his seafood dish and my daughter and I enjoyed the mix platter. The prawns were my personal favourite. I could have just had a plate of them. I would recomened this place, you won't be disappointed.

A big no for group bookings!! There were 13 of us ready to dine and have a few cocktails for my friend's birthday. We booked well in advance with a set menu and deposits . As soon as we arrived we were informed we needed to have left within 2 hours as there is another booking after us . The food was nice, but the plates were trying to be taken away before people had finished... and we also cannot comment on the dessert as we were told we had to leave before we could complete the set menu as there wasn't enough time to continue serving us . The next booking needed our table so we were told we needed to leave. We was only offered one drink throughout the meal, and told if we would like the dessert we would need to take it in a takeaway box ... what? All of 13 us sat on a bench outside in the cold , shovelling cheesecake into my mouth like some sort of hobos We asked for the manager but he clearly wasn't interested in coming over and appeared to send the young wait staff over. It's clearly a decison higher up to take bookings like sardines in a can and not their fault The bill came with a £60 service charge. Not a chance. No discount offered. No apology from the manager. The birthday girl.was so upset, we came from all over the country for this evening together and we find ourselves home by 8.45pm. The birthday girl was in tears on the way home, absolutely inconsolable and embarrassed. Infact she was so distraught she lost of control of the wheel and we had to pull over. It's all just very disappointing . We won't be back . I would not recommend this to anybody looking to have a relaxed evening with conversation , multiple drinks, catch up etc as you only have a short table slot regardless of size of your group

3rd visit first not great but last two have been good only moan is the gents toilet seat need fixing and the door lock 5 minutes to fix so why not do it ......Id like to thank the kind young chap who gave a lift home after our taxi failed to show he deserves a mention . All in all we had a good night so will be back
