First time visiting with friends, and we booked a table in advance which was ready when we arrived. I was impressed with this place, there were really friendly helpful staff who made recommendations from the menu, and the choice on offer was good, and all reasonable priced. It’s a typical pub, but was clean inside, welcoming, and spacious. Food was served in good time, there was an issue with my drink size, but this was quickly rectified when the error was pointed out to staff. As a trio we ate starters, mains and desserts, and we all enjoyed are meals, the mains were of a good size also. The pub does offer some parking with disabled spaces, but the lines need repainting as they are barely visible, the pub is accessible by a ramp, but I didn’t use this, so cannot comment on its suitability, and I didn’t look at the disabled toilet facilities on this occasion, but I will next time I visit. Definitely a place to visit again.

Went in for some food and although the pub was very busy the staff were very attentive and nothing too much trouble. Our food was very tasty and we enjoyed our experience. Would recommend booking if you think you may be going at a busy time.

Food is always very tasty, looks great and there is a great variety of options. Due to it being very busy, I ordered on the app but forget wasn’t clear where to add discount codes. Went up and sorted it with the bar and they out blue light discount through with no fuss and were very friendly. Starters served quickly and always tasty. Mozzarella balls of pizza menu and hunters chicken is always my go too, they a great everytime. A few of us went and all enjoyed our meals and left empty plates. Definitely need to go to this local more.

Friendly staff and safe environment managed well

Lovely atmosphere and warm welcome after watching our local rugby team. Food nice as always and reasonably priced. Lovely touch with the dog treats for our pooch. Definitely be back. Especially when the sun comes out to enjoy the beer garden

5-Star Review for The Talbot, Atherton I had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Talbot in Atherton! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was outstanding. Spencer, who bears a striking resemblance to Timothée Chalamet, was excellent behind the bar, while the amazing Ann did a brilliant job holding the fort—efficient, friendly, and always serving with a smile. The food was just as impressive. The surf and turf was cooked to perfection, and the gammon with double egg and double pineapple was a real treat. To top it all off, we indulged in a delicious chocolate brownie sundae and a comforting apple crumble with custard—both the perfect way to finish the meal. With excellent service, great food, and a warm atmosphere, The Talbot delivered a flawless dining experience. Highly recommend—definitely a 5-star visit!

Great hospitality the landlord was very welcoming and fun. He was having a rather forgetful day but we were able to laugh about it. I am sure he will remember my friend and I next time. I may even get a straw 😂

Had a meal with my mum and step dad a few weeks ago, and the food wasn't how we expected it. Dry and to overcooked , this was the fish and garlic mushrooms, my chips hadn't been cooked properly.

The talbot is brilliant the staff are lovely and friendly, food is great! Love the pizza kitchen part. We ordered via the app which was easy and drink service was quick! The talbot is one of our family's favourite places to go for a meal

This is my third time coming to the Talbot since it had changed hands and I can honestly say it is simply amazing. The staff divine, the atmosphere divine the food oh wow the food is ethereal. Such beautifully tasting food it is truly a credit to the chefs whom whip up these dishes. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any seeking a new place to get a good bit of grub. I was served by Leona who is also a credit to the restaurant.

As we walked in we wasn't greeted or even acknowledged! As soon as we ordered drinks and got them to the table my youngest child knocked over a full glass of pepsi. I had to find stuff to clean it up myself as no one helped and just kept walking past (thank god for the blue roll dispenser near the pizza bit) once I managed to clean everything I had to leave the pile of wet blue roll at the side of the table. Once the meals started coming I was finally acknowledged and all the waitress said was, 'oh no, if you want a new one just order another at the bar as we don't do refills ' The garlic bread with cheese pizza was just garlic bread it seemed, when the waitress brought it over I even questioned it and asked her if this was garlic bread with cheese. Hardly no cheese at all on it! And went solid and stale within 2mins of recieving it... probably to do with the lack of cheese. I'd have sooner gone to a takeaway pizza place for it... And it would have been cheaper! My 5 year old son had hunters chicken off the adults menu as I couldn't find a children's menu... When it came the hunters chicken had no cheese on it and it had been smothered in sauce to try and make the chicken breast look bigger I think as it was nearly as big as my son's hand! Wouldn't recommend going and definitely wouldn't return

Appalling. Freezing food, lack of care

Been done up but doesn't look any different to me. Got rid of the real ales on draft and now mainly lagers although they do have bottles. New menu that looks more or less the same as previous one. Some new staff but still same poor service. Think it's down to training personally.

Called in the talbot on Wednesday for some food .Jane and Anne were excellent service with a smile. The food was excellent when were in next we will try the new pizza menu and be guided by Bill has to which new topping to try. Wednesday was extremely busy but as always we were served by great friendy staff. Excellent service.

Jane was excellent and provided us with helpful table service which I appreciated being disabled.

We try to come once a week on Sunday and whilst we still enjoyed it before, since the new menu changed it has given me more of a reason to keep coming back. I'm finding plenty more options to keep it fresh from week to week and the menu is very good for catering to allergies and prefences. I also find I get very friendly customer service from all of your staff and I'm looking forward to using the outdoor area come the summer. Thank you all for the last few weeks and we hope to see you all for many more weeks to come. Xx

Good food at reasonable prices, ordered via app and accidentally ordered the lighter version of the meal, but a staff member came to check we meant to order that version before it was made, avoiding any dissapointing!

Staff training in customer service needed ASAP shame I have been here many times in the past, myself and my family I had a problem this evening with a drink order and I feel the women behind the bar was not very helpful at all. Basically, it's my fault, wow great customer service. Then when the food finally came it was not enjoyable at all. Everyone at the table said the same and we ordered a variety of different meals. Feel like this is very sad as we will now not return luckily for us there are plenty more places where customer service and food excel and go that further mile. To top it off, they've got the cheek to raise their prices?!

Lovely warm welcome from Leona when we walked in. Chatted to my daughter about the bleep test that she did today 😂. Food great. Great family pub.

We had a very nice family Christmas meal. Food was very nice and it came on hot plates which makes a difference .

We have been to the breakfast with Santa and what a lovely experience. It is definitely value for money. We had a lovely cooked breakfast everything was fresh and hot. The table was covered with christmas colouring and christmas sticker activities for the children. We had unlimited tea coffee and juice. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble and to finish off the children got to see Santa and receive a little gift. We will definitely book for next year.

Thanks to the frequent 30% off food offers, we visit regularly. Staff are helpful and friendly, in particular Mel, who always makes sure we have a great experience.

The staff as always were very friendly and welcoming. Even though the pub was busy they made our cocktails and brought them to the table so we didn't need to wait at the bar. The food came very promptly after ordering and everything was piping hot and delicious. My husband and I both had the ultimate chicken burger. We love the Talbot and are looking forward to our next visit.

Food was fresh and to a high standard, Gemma was very attentive to us as a table, I brought in a birthday cake for my son's birthday Gemma offered to take it into the kitchen and bring it out with the candle lit so we can sing happy birthday. Gemma's demenier around the pub with all customers was amazing.

Jacket potato was cold & hard, salad was less than described, veg on top of the pizza was cold, not cooked enough. Mac & cheese was standard fare, salad quite bland, pulled pork with burger & chips was quite good, food came quickly, Friday night was a bit noisy, but that's pubs these days.

It was my daughters christening so instead of party booked meal. Jane who dealt with it all was so helpful and lovely and even though they don't usually do sit down meal for so many they did cater for us around 46 of us. The meal was lovely and everybody was happy. The place has a lovely atmosphere and clean

Come here quite often for Sunday lunch. Love the friendly atmosphere . Gemma and Ann are always great and has a chat with our little girl. Would recommend.

Brought my kids in a few times and they love it. The staff always engage with them, especially debbie and paige that really go the extra mile. Chef Ross while busy, still happy to explain the pizza making process to them. Absolutely unreal the level of service and what a joyful atmosphere the staff create! Definitely a new regular spot for us.

My food order arrived in about twenty minutes, and the mash, pie and peas were well cooked and were a pleasure to eat. The eating area was clean and tidy, and the overall experience was enjoyable and trouble-free.

We held my father in laws wake here today. Staff where really helpful from start to finish, we had the gold buffet package for 30 people, including tea and coffee. A great selection of hot and cold food, everyone commented on it's generous amount and variety. Thank you for taking the stress away for us. It was definately the right choice.

I really wanted to give this place a few chances as SOME of the food is really decent, however every time we've been, wether it's busy or quiet, the food takes absolutely forever. We also decided to eat here with our family on our wedding day due to the location and the fact it looks nice inside, however we quickly came to regret it. We reserved a table for the whole party, and didn't get more than a 'Hi, table is over there for you'. It would have been nice to have a bit of congratulations or acknowledgement. The food also took close to an hour, which dampened everyone's mood, I would much prefer food come out as and when it's done as opposed to all at once but taking so long. I ordered a steak which was SO fatty and chewy, I had to saw through it despite ordering medium rare. I ended up eating a handful of chips and onion rings. I genuinely believe it's the lack of staff that means everyone is rushed off their feet and every single visit, I see guests complaining about wait times. It's a shame. If you want to sit somewhere nice and have a burger for a couple of hours, then great, but for any other food, and the service in general, I would say avoid. We won't be coming again after the experience on such a special day.

The food looked nice, pity I did not get to eat it. Appalling manners off two members of staff, especially the female, they need training on how to speak to people. I do have an allergy and I know how to control it, I certainly don't need staff telling me. Steaks are normally coated in excess seasonings and I wanted no seasonings on a steak, not alot to ask. I was so embarrassed and appauld at how I was spoken to infront of a group of people whom I was meeting, I could not eat the meal and did request a refund. I had recommended this place for our meeting but certainly won't be returning. Never experienced anything like it and I have visited many Marston pubs.
