Really good food but delivered in cling film within the plastic tub which makes it is so messy to serve.

Usually get delivered so won’t comment on the venue, but I eat a lot of Thai food and find a Tom Yum soup is a good litmus test. It’s excellent here as is all the other food. My favourite local Thai

My experience yesterday was not great Fri night and the restaurant quite empty. Starters were ok but main pretty and. Staff talking rudely to kitchen staff and a dog running around barking not a pleasant experience. Wont be returning.

Great food, reasonably priced, wonderful friendly staff. I had vegan tofu green curry, my brother had green curry with prawns. He was impressed with the quality and quantity of prawns. We met the chef who is an authentic Thai chef. The prawns crackers were delicious, best I've tasted. Can highly recommend this little restaurant. In the past I've enjoyed many takeaway meals from here.

We went on Saturday, neither of us had had Thai food before but this place was absolutely delicious. We ordered from the set menu, the starters were lovely, my partner doesn’t eat anything from the ocean but was surprised by how much he enjoyed it. The mains arrived promptly after the starters and was exquisite. Rice, noodles and 2 mains. Dessert was a choice of ice cream or tea/coffee. We both opted for ice cream- again tasty. We sat for an extra over 2 hours, enjoyed the atmosphere, decor and conversation. We weren’t made to feel rushed, the cocktails were lovely and my partner enjoyed double shorts. When paying we were given the option to add a tip (rather than having a service charge applied to the final bill). We will be returning again, it was a lovely experience.

Recently came to celebrate a friends birthday. As ever the food was very good, the atmosphere fun and the staff very friendly. Always recommended.

Have bought take away from here many times and always amazing, shame to see the reviews are so low, my mate Wolly thinks it’s the best Thai in London, puffy tofu is 10/10

Ordered for take away a pork Thai red curry, pad Thai and chicken satay. The curry had no heat/spice to it and was watery to the point of being soup. The pad Thai was bland with not even a hint of spice, lacked any of the traditional sweet/savoury/sour tamarind and fish sauce flavour or seasoning, the chicken was boiled so lost any flavour and the noodles had almost no vegetable content (barely any sprouts/peppers/onions) or peanut content and came out of the container like a congealed lump, there was certainly nothing light and fresh about this pad Thai. The satay chicken was tough and stringy and the limited amount of sauce was again flavourless. The worst Thai meal I’ve ever had and since it upset my stomach within 15 of eating, definitely one to avoid in the future.

We had a delivery. The guy who took our order didn't speak much English which made it a bit difficult. Our food arrived almost cold and not massively tasty. One of our orders was Pad Thai and honestly having eaten ALOT of Pad Thai this was possibly one of the most lacklustre. Overall disappointing

Just ordered thru deliveroo, and I was impressed with how good it was. Even tho I live 20 minutes from Streatham, food was still hot and ready to eat, i had the chicken and prawns pad thai, delicious

Quite a regular place for me to order from which is normally great food. They are always late however and yesterday that was almost over 1.5 hours and the food was not the usually standard - super frustrating when I called them multiple times and couldn’t even get through.

I wouldn’t call it Thai at all it tastes like weird cheap Chinese food and it’s not cheap for what it is

This place is so underrated, I don't understand why it only has 3.7 star. I don't usually write review for anywhere I have been to but I feel so sorry for them because they are very underrated. Firstly, the waiter and waitress are friendly, I really love the lady who brought our food, she always smiles brightly. They always came and checked on us to make sure we didn't wait too long for the next dishes, they even changed our plates before the main course which I really did not expect them to do, appreciate that. About the food, it's true that they are a bit smaller portions compared to the other restaurant around but they are definitely not that small. We ordered chicken satay skewers for starter and were amased that they gave us two different sauces. The other Thai restaurants that I have been to always served them with soy sauce but Talay Thai gave me sweet & sour sauce and peanut sauce and they both tasted amazing. The som tum and pad thai were also nice to me but my friend who prefers savoury food found them a bit bland but still delicious. We also order nuea ka ta (stir fried beef) with jasmine rice and we both agreed that it tasted amazing. We had Thai milk tea and cocktail for drink and they both came in good sizes and tatsed exactly like how we expected. Overall, the restaurant is definitely worth the price based on my own experience during a Wednesday night. Please don't let the low review star make you hesitate to try them. Try and feel them yourself cos to me they definitely worth it. We didn't expect high when coming in but then left in full and pleased. Highly recommend and will be back for second time.

First visit for me and a friend, and was reasonably impressed; having spent a couple of weeks in Thailand only a month ago, it was a decent test! Had a sharing platter of starters, a beer and a green curry with pork, and it was all delicious. Bill totalled £60 for the two of us, including a 15% tip. Service was friendly and on point. I'll be back.

Lovely food and an extensive choice of gluten free food - some dishes were naturally gluten free, others were made with gluten free alternatives ingredients. I was made to feel special, rather than a burden.

Had to wait 30 minutes before waiter/ess asked if we even wanted a drink. Not cool. My partner had a nap while waiting for just first drink. Food ok…. Service slow not very attentive but saying that staff were nice maybe they need more staff. Not worth the money for the whole dining out experience. We got kebab on way home after paying £90 for 2 people.

Awful. Went for a Valentine's meal. Service was rude from waiter. Restaurant is so cute and decor lovely, unfortunately that doesn't make a good restaurant. Fish cakes were over cooked, my starter I couldn't eat... too chewy. Main small portion and bland. I love Thai food, but this was the worst Thai I have ever had. As we were leaving the waitress even had the cheek to as for a tip ! I would gladly given a tenner if food and service warranted it, but it didn't. big shame. We will not return

Looks like the restaurant has changed the menu since I last ordered from them and I absolutely loved a couple of the new items that I ordered, like the corn ribs. I would definitely order from Talay Thai again - there's more new things to try still and the old menu to work my way through!

Even though there are so many Thai options nowadays, this is always my go-to restaurant. Such tasty curries and great vegan options.

Never ordered from this restaurant, but was impressed with the food.It tasted fresh and tasty. There was plenty of chicken pieces in the chicken dishes we ordered. Would order from here again.

I don't understand the negative reviews. We ordered the green chicken curry and the beef with lemongrass and chili and both were delicious.

I should have ordered the tofu version of the green curry - the vegetable version was good but the tofu green curry is AMAZING.........

First of all don't understand the negative reviews! This restaurant is amazing and I believe more people should drop some positive reviews. We went with our visitors to our favourite Thai restaurant. Amazing experience again, we are never disappointed. The team is super friendly, the food is amazing and today we had the opportunity to talk to Kit. Thank you Kit for the friendly talk, I hope all will go well for you and your future and hopefully the restaurant will stay forever!

Pretty bad. Pad Thai was totally tasteless other than massive amounts of sugar. Red chicken curry was just ok but again waaay too sweet. Worst part was the jasmin rice which was completely undercooked and hard. How can they not even cook rice?!

Awful service, had to contact the restaurant multiple times for an update. Gave me excuses that didn't concern me, I lost the excitement for receiving the food. This may be an uncommon occurrence but safe to say, I will not be ordering from here again.

Food tasted off. Didn’t eat half of it

I was looking forward to trying Talay Thai however I was massively disappointed. The order took 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive for 3 items. The restaurant updated the app to say it had been delivered by the latest time given but still took 20 minutes extra by which point I had to call them twice. The tempura vegetables ‘batter’ was completely soggy and wasn’t coating the vegetables and laid at the bottom of the box so a complete waste of time. Spring rolls were lovely. Green curry was nothing special. The restaurant wouldn’t rectify the tempura vegetables and neither would just eat. Really disappointed.

Ordered food via deliveroo and it was terrible. It didn't taste how you would expect. We ordered the Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao Kow, Salt and chili squid and vegetables gyozas.

Ambience and decor was quite nice, a little bit cramped but as it was not busy that aspect didn't really matter. Service was good but considering that there were not many people dining in, it could have been a bit more attentive. The food was ok but... from the dishes I had this is Thai food toned down for the western palate. There was also some compromise with the ingredients. For example: it was good to see that there was Som Tam (papaya salad) made for vegetarians (no fish sauce, no shrimp) but there was lettuce in it and chunks of tomato rather than cherry tomatoes. As for the chili... couldn't find it! If you have experienced Som Tam in Thailand you will know that it can be very spicy-hot. Not so this version. Similarly the crushed peanut was not mixed in but rather found in a small pile at the side of the dish. Kow Neow (sticky rice) was served in a plastic bag in a traditional wicker basket. However it was too hot to touch - and the point of kow neow is that you hold it and shape it in your hand, eating it directly from the hand. This proved an impossibility unless you wait for the rest of the food to get cold. The Nam Manao (a Thai version of fresh lemonade) was too sweet and sickly. Rather than being just sweet enough to take the edge off the freshly squeezed lime juice. However, the portions were good despite just not having a really authentic taste. Even the sauces were just a basic bottled sweet chili rather than the home-made varieties that are standard fare in Thailand. This brings me full circle in this review: I went to Talay Thai to eat real Thai food, not the watered down, adulterated dishes that I was served. I wanted to eat food made for Thais, not food made for farang (Europeans). Would I eat there again? Possibly, but it would not be my first choice if I wanted to eat real Thai food.

Granted I hadn’t been to this Thai restaurant in a while so was still expected the same great quality I had experienced in the past. Unfortunately this was not the case. The food was presented well and ingredients were fresh, but the taste was absolutely not what expect from a Thai restaurant. We ordered, Tom Gar Kai, which was overly sweet, this should have been an indicator and the beancurd skin rolls ( vegan) which are a new addition and I wanted to try. However, they lacked any flavour and were rubbery with hardly any filling. The prawn pad see ewe was so overly sweet, not the right fat rice noodles made this dish unpalatable. Prawns in chilli oil again really sweet as was the Phad Talay. So disappointed as to the amount of sugar added to each dish, you could hardly distinguish the taste of the vegetables and shellfish and the steamed rice only served to accentuate how sweet all the dishes were. A real shame as this used to be one of our favourite Thai restaurants, but will not visit again.

This was the second time I ordered and I have to say that this is the best Thai food I had from all the Asian deliveries I had in the past. You can taste the difference from all the greasy takeaways in this area. But I also have to admit that the lady (I guess the owner?) who answered my call tonight is very professional and polite. I thought I ordered for delivery as shown on my receipt, but the restaurant had the order for collection. Probably my bad that I didn't check the confirmation email, she managed the whole situation with a 5 stars service, arranged a delivery for me and the food was delivered within 20 minutes still nice and warm. Definitely next time I'd love to try the table service, and I am sure the food would be even more delicious. You must try it!

Disappointed with the TOFU curry as it was literally filled with only tofu and no vegetables at all - I’ve never had a curry that didn’t have any veg in it at all especially a vegetarian dish? Which made the meal pretty bland as all I was eating was tofu and sauce. The general taste was fine. And our started and rice were cold when they arrived

I’ve ordered my first order with Talay Tai, unfortunately it wasn’t impressive experience. Lady who took order was very polite and helpful and deserved 5 stars for customer service however food only get 2 stars, dishes were cold, greasy & tasteless. Sorry guys but I won’t be back.

As always food was great but yet again the time taken to deliver was unacceptable. We ordered at 7.45 and the food arrived at 9.15 despite a 8.30-8.50 window which already seemed too long. The restaurant should look to improve delivery times or at the very least manage expectations on the time expected by stating a later time window.

I entered and was given a menu, I ordered drinks while waiting for a friend. I had to goto the bar AS USUAL to get my drinks, I ordered good for two and ate while awaiting my friend who was running late, I ordered several more beers while eating and the next table were cocktails so I asked for a cocktail nenu, they are rubbish really no sense whatsoever just a mishmash of spirits that don’t work together and silly ingredients... anyway my friend arrived we ate then we got the bill, the menu I’d ordered off which he’d given me had A completely different price to the one I was expected to pay.. he claimed it was a takeaway menu that I had BUT HE GAVE IT TO ME UPON ENTERING! he then threatened me with police if I didn’t pay, I queried the price discrepancy he claimed(the owner) that he had to serve me tge drinks... I was like, hold on a sec I had TO GET MY OWN DRINKS because he was forgetful and useless ... Bro the price increase was DOUBLE tHE expected service charge even though he tried to claim there WAS NO service charge.... ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLY SHOCKING SERVICE NEVER GOING BACK

Very bland and tasteless. A tin of coconut milk poured over some chicken. I was also charged £3 delivery to travel less than a mile.

Tofu green curry and coconut rice is just AMAZING

Wanted to try a different place out and we are never going here again, it was appalling. We couldn’t even believe someone served this let alone a restaurant. Egg fried rice was very plain. Red veg curry was completely watered down.. wasn’t sauce at all. Tempura was tasteless- the broccoli tempura was soggy especially. Vegetarian platter was 2 containers with 6 pieces of tasteless, dry, different sides.. not worth 13 quid at all. The sauces seem watered down too. Never again.

Prawn instead of the chicken I ordered! Would be highly rated otherwise but I'm not a fan of prawns. Gahh

Ordered 3 times from Talay Thai since Nov20. It's walking distance from our flat so really handy and nice to support a local business. The first 2 times were nice but the 3rd time was atrocious. Almost like ordering from a completely different restaurant. I was violently ill after eating it. The food seemed old as if it had been reheated many times. Shame as I'm totally put off ordering from there now.

I’ve lived in Streatham for over 20 years but never went to this place because of the online review of 3.5 stars. I’ve wasted money all this time going to other Thia restaurants being unsatisfied . In my opinion, this place is honestly amazing. Every dish we had was exceptionally tasty. Why this place has 3.5 stars is beyond me, I’ve tried lots of Thia restaurants, this one DEFINITELY hits the spot. Order direct from the restaurant, it’s cheaper than the apps.

Unfortunately, the take-away did not match the standards of the other reviews given. TOM YUM NOODLE SOUP PAD KHING TAO HOO All the food was cooked in a microwave, in plastic take-away boxes covered in clingfilm, basically just poaching veg. Pad -The peppers weren't cooked and definitely hadn't seen a pan and the mushrooms were tinned. Tom - had quartered tomatoes in it and was also uncooked. Smelled terrible, and ended up not eating it... didn't want to risk eating the prawns or chicken. Regards, P

Food was decent. But we found it a bit pricey for the portion size.. Add to that a £3 delivery charge when we're less than 1.5 miles away..will not be ordering again.

My favourite Thai in SW16. Still offering my special dishes. New idea of menus via QR codes is very wise.

We go to Talay Thai regularly and always have good food and good service. The food is fresh and good quality - especially the massaman and panang curries and the papaya salad. Tasty and filling quality food
