Taj Tandoori in West Dunbartonshire

Excellent quality, good value Indian meals delivered quickly. Minor issue first time I ordered but they were really keen to resolve and improve. My go to place now for Indian food in Dumbarton.

Not written a review in Trip Advisor for a such long time but after having an amazing takeaway over the weekend at my local Indian takeaway II had to! The Taj is the best Indian in Dumbarton. Everything is made fresh and the food stands out in taste and quality. Great portions and good prices. The nan bread is not overly greasy, it's light and fresh every time. Also the veg pakora is especially nice and they cater for vegetarians.

Absolutely great customer care, they really appreciate their customers and strive to be the best. Food was fantastic, meat tender and the array of spices used could be tasted. Thank you

My favorite Indian takeaway in Dumbarton, got my usual Chicken Curry and wasn't let down quality was excellent as usual and giving me a complimentary veg pakora was a lovely wee touch, hope you have a great new year all in the Taj.

Ordered two meals for takeaway service is great and the food is even better. A real go to for good quality food.

Paid a fortune for a curry and it’s take an hour and a half for it to come and phoned and they say it’s coming in 2 minutes ,2 minutes + 30 more like. Absolute disgrace. Will never be back

I recently went on a gateway and stumbled across this takeaway. It look pretty modest from outside so I didn’t think much of it. I was wrong, the food for the first time in so long, was above my expectations, if you ever in Dumbarton I would suggest giving it a try. The food was served in sealed trays something that you really need to appreciate in the middle of a pandemic. I had a mixed meat grill and some lamb curry, the meat was seasoned well, you could taste the seasoning even in the burnt spots. My favourite was the lamb curry, delicious it melted in my mouth.

Ordered a pizza from taj and wasn't happy with my order due to waiting over an hour for delivery understandable as shop was busy. Contacted owner and was sent a fresh pizza the following night. The pizza was very very fresh and spicy chicken topping was beautiful. Thanks for correcting my order Amar.

Just picked up a takeaway from the taj tandoori. It was absolutely fantastic the chicken chatt was just cooked to perfection, bhoona lamb to die for and the rest was amazing. Get down there or get a delivery even to Clydebank. Enjoy guys.

Finally found our perfect takeaway after recently moving to the area. Food is delicious with lovely tender meat. Excellent flavours in our curry. Wish we found this place sooner. We won't be trying anywhere else.

Ordered 1 Madras curry with breast of chicken 1 south Indian chilli chicken, not teka but breast of chicken 1 fried rice 1 nan bread Picked up after 30 mins the guy says that's you two curries !!! Madras was red type curry with teka chicken in it, no coriander or chillies in it. Looked nothing like I usually get. South Indian Chilli Chicken not great, although chicken was breast looked nothing like our other orders before. So disappointing, 2 guys in the front counter look disinterested. We always go to the Taj for our take away food but, its getting to be a hit and miss now.

I can not fault the service at Taj at all. We used the takeaway for our engagement party buffet and everyone raved about how amazing the food was and I must say it was great value for money. Delivered on time and still piping hot. Since then my partner and I are regulars here as the food is second to none and beats all other pizzas and kebabs in Dumbarton area. Friendly staff, tasty meals and speedy service.

Once again we just had a fantastic carry out from the Taj, food was amazing. Small mix up with our delivery but it was sorted promptly and we thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Credit to all, looking forward to our next meal from here.

Last weekend my wife called for a delivery ...wow... it was the owners dad who used to own a prominent local restaurant, Take away and nightclub in the town, what a fantastic personal service and quality of food, I would just like to say that the family connection and dedication to the customers was outstanding, it was clear to see that the food came from a close family who have a passion and dedication to deliver both outstanding quality food and brilliant customer service.

Food is great. Restaurant is co-owned with next door restaurant (The Dining Room), which is the best food in Dumbarton, so we knew the food was good. We ordered the pizza and it was excellent. I want to order another one!!!!!!

Nowadays most takeaway introduces their own applications. I'm not relax with applications and sometimes they do not work and it suffers me. For first time when I wanted to put my order through application, it did not work. So decided to call the shop's number and after putting my order when I pointed out to the problem they gave me 5% extra off. so this treatment made me so satisfied.

We asked for 10 Pizza last night as we had party we got discount and we enjoyed the pizza cause food delivered on time and hot cheers Taj & Dinning Room

Called up the takeaway and spoke to a guy over the phone who answered by saying ‘2 minutes’ and left me on the line for about 7 minutes. When he returned to me I gave my order and he said it will be ready in about 30 mins. I went to collect the order 30 mins later and was left standing inside the takeaway for 40 minutes - so in total it took them 1 hour 10 minutes, which was outrageous and spoiled my whole evening. When I paid there was no apology or explanation.

I was hosting a party at my house and used the taj tandoori, I spoke to the owner amir beforehand with my order and requested time of delivery, everything ran well on the night, the food was amazing all the guests commented how nice it was, if your having a party and looking to order buffet style pizzas, pakoras and chips then you won’t go wrong speaking to amir, thanks again.

Faultless dining experience, had 4 tapas dishes between 2, more than enough for two glutton, asked for extra spicy which was delivered perfectly, amir and all I were great, full of chat and great service, definitely be back and recommend to anyone who will listen!

My daughter ordered starters 4 then 3 main meals and Nan bread all were lovely ,hot very tasty and plenty of and everyone enjoyed it so big thumbs up to the Taj .

Formerly one of the better pizza providers in Dumbarton. I received a pizza tonight was basically inedible. The base was like cardboard & the toppings were so bland! Chips were equally as poor. I will not be eating from here again!

My favourite Indian carry out has reclaimed it's crown. Today I had the most SUPERB Lamb Achari which was personally recommended by Amir the owner of the Taj.

Had a South Indian garlic chilli chicken.... it has to be the most amazing thing I've ever ate in my life, no1 in the area when's comes close to the perfect curries, amazing pizzas and fresh kebabs :) Keep up the good work guys.

After being recommended to try Taj and being fed up of my usual takeaway I called for delivery and I was not disappointed.. The chicken tikka balti was just perfect A must try in my eyes!!

Certainly not you're average takeaway, the food is perfect here all the time. With every mouthful you can taste all the fresh quality ingredients. The manager was very friendly and more than welcoming. I ordered the Tandoori Mix Grill and I would certainly recommend to everyone! A+++

I have been using the Taj regularly for the past few years now as their food is pretty decent but the service lately had not been so good and after the way we were treated on our last experience I will never give them another penny! We placed a large order for home delivery which came with no rice and the curry had leaked all over the bag making a terrible mess and ruining our nan bread. We called to query about the rice and basically had to argue with the staff member as he was insisting we had not ordered any in the first place. He finally said he would send us some with no charge, lucky us! But when the driver finally came 30 minutes later he demanded we pay him for it and started shouting in our doorway waking up my 8 year old son! I asked if him if we where to pay for the rice if they would refund us for the nan which was covered in curry to which he then demanded to see evidence of this. I couldn’t believe it! But I was more than happy to fish the bags out of the top of the bin and show him, this finally shut him up but only for a few seconds as then he started going on about how he would not charge us for the rice then as if he was doing us a favour! His voice was still raised and he had at this point taken it upon himself to enter my home, I couldn’t believe it so I had to interrupt him and ask him if he wasn’t charging us then why he was still here and that finally got him to leave. I will never use this place again and strongly advise anyone else not to!!!

Now I am not one for complaining about my favourite carry out Indian but the taj is slipping. Past couple of deliveries I have ordered chicken tikka in my meals and ordinary chicken is being supplied and recently waiting for 1hour for a simple pizza and meal for one with extra chips and pakora is way to long to wait. C'mon Taj get it sorted

First visit to the Taj Tandoori and it was an outstanding feed and excellent value. The lamb Patia was very tasty and would highly recommend it. Will definitely be back.

Wow! Recommended by my landlord. Best recommendation I’ve had for a take out for a long time. Not only great food, what a good price, quick delivery, food always hot on delivery, friendly delivery guys. Haven’t bothered trying any other Indian take since as this place set such a great high standard.

Cincuenta libras de comida ordenados para mi familia porque estoy visitando desde Australia y me recomendaron el Taj. Les dimos una hora y quince minutos para entregar. Entrega llego en tiempo mi miembro de la familia tomó el pedido en darse cuenta de que sólo era curry salsa goteo todo el frente a la alfombra de porche, salón y cocina. Toda la orden era un desastre casi envases en bandejas de hojalata destruyeron huevos revueltos. Todo el mundo destacó la situación habitual y miserable estropeó totalmente nuestra noche nunca más.

Nos dieron una de Taj bastante a menudo y son normalmente feliz, sin embargo nos quedamos muy decepcionados y hambre esta noche. Normalmente lo dirá si estamos ocupados (y que puede existir una demora en la entrega), pero no esta noche. Después de una hora y cuarenta minutos nos llamaron para cancelar. Los niños estaban esperando para un poco de la comida, pero a las 9. 30:00 era demasiado tarde. Muy decepcionante.

Our last five orders have arrived at least and hour an forty minutes after we ordered. Tonight, after our wait, our food arrived with no sauce for the two pakoras we ordered. The owner wished to compensate us for our inconvenience as I had asked for our sauces to be delivered, however the driver returned with only one sauce. Simply remarkable.

Firstly I have used this take away before and thought it was okay. Then I tried tonight to place an online order, not as easy as it looks gave and called them to say I wanted a different sauce to the one that came with it they kindly said place it in the comments box and I will change it on the order when it comes through. Okay I said so I tried again to order online for the second time and again gave up. So I decided to drive to the take away placed my order now I know what I ordered because I had it all witten down it came within 30 mins I was happy with that went home to find that an item was missing and the sauce I ordered wasn't the sauce I was given. I did call them up and explained that order was wrong only to be told you didn't order that item or the change in sauce. Now I know I changed the sauce as I'm not keen on the other sauce so to say my meal was ruined would be an understatement and couldn't eat it,. Now to be fair they did offer to make the item and replace the sauce but I wanted my meal at that point not have to wait until either it was delivered or I had to run down and get it. So I now need to go and look for another Indian take away

We ordered online as thought cheaper but then seen was not on Saturday. Website was not easy to use.Got 12" munchbox no juice think said 3 free but none.2 chicken tikka Masala with rice but only got one rice but paid for two. Food was nice but then extra to pay by card which was PayPal only. First time going but not impressed with online service. order was £50 to get picked up but would have enjoyed a asda one better for 1/3 of price.

We visited a few weeks ago, on the recommendation of some family who regularly go here. It's very small inside so it would definitely be worth booking in advance. The food was very tasty though and the service friendly.

Amar has created a wonderful dining experience. Zahir makes everyone welcome and treates you like an old friend, the food is fantastic. Highly recommend the spicy garlic mushrooms for starters and the lamb tikka for main course. Will be returning again and again. Excellent value for the quality of food.

What a fantastic night. Holy moley the food here is to die for. Tried the sharing plate to start with what flavours, yum yum. Everyones main was spot on even our son meal made without onions due to Crohn's disease could not fault how helpful the staff were. 10/10 from visitors from OZ

As an added bonus you get 10% of your whole order. Food is always ready when it should be no long waits. Excellent service and excellent food. Had guests over and their comments were best Indian food they had ever tasted. You will not be disappointed.

food is very good but way highly priced food is good but portions are not good they regularly put up their prices and are constantly sending out flyers but everytime the prices go up its a shame i would use more often but feel theyre ripping people off with prices and portion sizes e.g about 5 bits of chicken in a chicken curry which doesnt even equal a chicken breast and at over 6 quid without rice /chips etc i think is poor

First class and genuinely friendly staff, the chefs have all trained in top hotels and restaurants in India, that is why the food is authentic, along with the best quality spices and meat. I have a carry out or delivery once a week and eat at The Dining Room once a month, you must book ahead, for top class Indian cuisine, the prices are reasonable, not city centre prices, and a great carry out deal, buy one pizza get another free, the meal for one is fantastic for £10.50, massive, I am glad I have this in my town. The owner is great to have a chat with.

Went along for dinner on Friday night and came home with a belly full of Punjabi goodness.I had the Traditional Lamb Curry and my fiancee has the Butter Chicken, as recommended by the staff. Both didn't disappoint, though the Taj does provided the best curry in the town.The staff are the friendliest you meet and couldn't be more pleasant. Will definitely be back, plus its BYOB, which is always a good thing.

Ordered online. 45 min delivery on a Sat night so pretty good. Food delicious. 4 happy customers! Naan bread enormous. I shared the huge tandoori mixed grill between my 2 boys.

Had a lovely take-away from here - chicken tikka chasni was delish and all really reasonably priced! Will be visiting the dining room for a sit in meal next!

Absolutely stunning and best Indian restaurant around only problem on several occasions I have phoned a order to be collected or delivered and was told anything from 40/50 mins every time I have had to phone or stand in shop for at least 40/50 mins more than the original 40/50, but as I said great food

First time in tonight and certainly wont be our last. Looks great, service was fantastic and the food was absolutely amazing, so fresh & tasty - could not fault it in any way. Exactly what is needed in Dumbarton. Well done Amar & team, cant wait for our next visit !!!

Great food and it does what it says on the tin so to speak. It's delivery most of the time for me, with a friendly service and great food.

Pooris no more than the respective filling in what could easily be masala sauce from a jar. Tasteless and greasy. Nan was fine except the tin foil took all the cheese off. Staff pleasant and friendly tho.

Waited over an hour and a half for delivery and when it eventually arrives it's not Even the right order, has went right down hill won't be back

I use this place often and really enjoy the food but they really need to give better timescales for delivery, on average it's 20/30 minutes later than they indicate at time of placing order

I have ordered from the Taj twice now, each time the order has been delivered over 1 hour 45 minutes + and the food has been cold. why order from a restaurant when it will not turn up in a decent time scale or even warm? Terrible service I will not use this restaurant again. Don't waste your time or money.

The taj food is so tasty. Delivery can take a while when they are busy. It's worth the wait though as the food is excellent and freshly made to order.

The best . If your hungry get your self along or even pick up the fone and get your meal delivered Fresh and hot . And they also have a restraunt opening in the near future, try keep me away

Lovely food in here, Amar and staff work hard to get it right, would definately recommend a visit. Try Lamb on the bone with a nice indian style gravy, I like super hot food but is lovely with anything.Look forward to the sit in opening up soon.

I was busy and in a rush so I grabbed a takeaway to eat in the car. First I was so impressed. As always, the service was with a smile, the staff there are so friendly and all without being personal.I don't know how they get the food to taste as it does and I don't care as it is far superior to what we call the usual 'fast food' places. The Taj is a cut above the rest and anyone in the area should at least give it a try

By far the best Indian food my husband and I have had! We stayed near the west end where there are countless places to eat but this has blown them away! The food is superb! The sauce is excellent and the meats are perfectly cooked. The staff are very pleasant and helpful where when we asked to change the strength of a dish, the chef made many different samples of sauce to which we were able to choose from! We have even received calls from the owner to check that our meal was to standard.On the odd occasion where we have to wait a little longer (although by judging the quality of the food and how busy they can be, it is understandable) we have been offered complimentary food etc.Really cannot fault this place and we can't wait for the restaurant to open!

We had a takeaway from Taj last Friday. The food was very good, delivered to the door very quickly for a Friday night. The food was hot on arrival and plentiful, good value for money.

Just recently started using the Taj and think that last night will be last time. I ordered and paid extra for the Fillet of Lamb Tikka Jalfrezi and what a let down. Thought fillet of lamb would be quite tender but had to use a steak knife to cut the half dozen lumps of (I think) lamb. All dried up and tough and tasteless, complete waste of money. The creamy sauce was also disappointing, did manage to see four/five pieces of green peppers but little meat and it went in the bin. On the other hand my husband enjoyed his Chicken Dopiaza so the jury is still out on whether we would use again. I notice the management don't respond to the reviews, positive or negative so obviously their not bothered.

I have been using this establishment for quite a few years now and when my order was wrong and I called to say so we could sort it as it was just a mistake and could have easily been resolved rather than making a whole fuss I was met with total ignorance even though I had used the place for three years and never once complained. .I shall never use the Taj again as they made my wife who always loved them out as if she was a liar when we called to say ...you can steal a pint of milk but when you steal someones character especially someone who always promoted you even though I much prefered the deli darva shame on you taj tandoori as you had a loyal customer

Just heard about the taj of a friend well I order chicken pakora & it was large portion & it was luvly as was the Donna kebab is brilliant so tasty I will be using this shop again & again & I will let my all friends & family about TaJ DUMARTON

Had a meal from here despite being warned standards had dropped. How I wished I heeded the warnings. When the order arrived the Pizza supposedly fresh made came as a perfectly round based pizza exactly the same depth throughout. When queried we were assured (Sean his name was) the pizza was freshly made in the premises by their chefs. I can assure you as a pizza expert my wife can categorically assure you this was not freshly made. Chicken tikka came in a long tray but with only 6 small pieces in a long tray which looked really empty, and it was, a small tray would have done. Really disappointed with everything about tonight's service and quality, and I only wish I had heeded friends advice. Will not be going back.

Not the first time I've been disappointed with my meal from Taj and after last nights order, I will not be using Taj again. Firstly it was overpriced! For the standard of take away food it was not worth the £24 price tag - 2 currys, chips and pakora! Although the portions are of a good size the quantity of chicken in the meal is pitiful. Last nights sauce consisted of 4 small pieces of meat in both mains. This has been my criticism over a number of orders from Taj. The chicken pakora, in my opinion had been pre-cooked an re- heated on order and therefore the texture was a little stale. On a positive note the chips were good! All in all another very disappointing meal and I will not be recommending Taj as I have previously.

Consistently the best Indian takeaway in West Dunbartonshire. Occasionally the place can be too busy and I'd always collect rather than wait on delivery. However the food quality is never compromised. Amar runs a great shop. Like his family before him.

After lots of recommendations we finally tried this plc and were not at all disappointed. The food is simply delicious. ....so very tasty.The lamb melts in your mouth but if you like it like that then specifically ask for 'tender lamb'or you might get tikka lamb which is tasty but more chewy.Their sauces are very strong in flavour and so tasty....no lacking here.They are based in Dumbarton and we live in Alexandria so deiveries take longer so do prepare for up to an hours wait if you live outside their area but its worth the wait...cant wait to eat here again

Moved to Dumbarton in January, just up the road from the Taj and it's a massive bonus to have on my doorstep. We moved from Cardross and always stopped here to pick up food to take home, great food and the only shame is they are not a restaurant only a take away. Hubby and I have tried curries, kebabs and pizzas and all are fab!

Orderd on a sunday night 16 th march.it took over 1hr to arrive.the korma was hot.chips and garlic nan cold.totally unacceptable poor service.wont be back

First thing i would like to say is that it is a crying shame this is not a sit in restaurant just a take away. Food is fantastic, always same quality. I can find nothing to complain about mind you i do go and pick the food up!

Had been using other establishments in Dumbarton for the occasional carry out but, I was not entirely happy with them. I checked Trip Advisor and found that the Taj had the best reviews for the Town so, I gave it a try. Very happy with the outcome, efficient prompt service and I was not disappointed when the food arrived. Well done the Taj, I'm a convert.

After persevering with another Indian Restaurant in the town, who always made mistakes, I put my toe in the water and tried Raj. Brilliant service and hot, mouth watering fare will ensure I return again and again. Five stars guys!

Loved their fish pakora - not greasy like fish pakora can be sometimes! Creamy chicken Tikka Masala .......very unoriginal I know but you can't beat it....served along with a thin and crispy naan as requested....I hate when naan bread is thick and doughy don't you? We're her if not once a week, then pretty much near it!!!

Ordered home delivery online. It came when scheduled, the order was correct and it was piping hot and delicious. Normally use the other take-aways in Dumbarton but will be giving this another go. We used the Sun-Thurs menu so 2 main courses (King prawn garlic chilli and chicken tikka massala) & 3 chapatis for < £14. Wondering if all main courses come in the smaller containers.Would recommend.
