Andy's Golden Fry in West Dunbartonshire

place was empty 4 members of staff to busy talking to each other. i stood for 7mins didn't even acknowledge i was there especially as i was in front of them. Finished up walking out. took my business to another friendly chip shop

We were staying in the Travelodge and came into town to see if there were any dog friendly places to eat. We couldn't find anywhere so decided to get some fish and chips to take back to the hotel. We ordered two suppers and waited for them to be cooked. Social distancing wasn't great in the queue and wasn't helped by a guy who twice walked out of the seating area to spit in the kerb outside! The service wasn't particularly friendly but seemed efficient enough. The price wasn't too bad either.The food was nothing exceptional but was OK when we ate it and was still good and hot by the time we had driven back. The best bit was probably the curry sauce!

Staffs attitude absolutely stinks I actually cancelled my order am not giving rude people like any business. Think the staff need some sort of people skills training. Horrible

More than half the container is full of "shrapnel" you get 4 or 5 full size chips and the rest is just smash like when the fryer is almost run out of chips its the wee bits at the bottom except this is what they are serving up ALL the time. The fish used to be stunning but now it isn't cod any more it probably Pollock. Whatever it is the fish are TINY and full of bones! Do not EVER order they heat the food in a microwave before the driver leaves and it "sears" the flavour right out of the food. Balloch chippy across from the station is the only decent chippy left in the west of Scotland!

Phoned for a delivery at 19.05. Phoned again at 8.10 to be told they were waiting on a delivery driver coming back. Phoned again at 8.40 and still waiting. Woman who answered phone was nothing short of rude, and both female laughing as I had phoned again. Heard one female saying she's already phoned. No customer skills at all. Will never use the shop again

We always order takeaway and it almost always is really good. You may wait a bit longer but it is worth the wait.

Having taken a meal break - mid work, I found myself deliberating as to have a small fish supper at this location or head off to the kebab shop further up. I was glad that I chose this fish & chip shop as I was completely surprised by the prices -£3:90 for a small fish supper -it certainly wasn't - I was amazed at the portion of chips and the size of the single fish -a great meal at very little expense. I was also impressed by the helpful & cheery staff who served me my piping hot dinner -well done ladies!This is one fish & chip shop that I will certainly be visiting again -watch out for my asda van ladies!

Called in for a midweek fish supper which was tasty, generous and fresh. My friend had the black pudding and was very happy with the quality and taste - great seasoning. Service was fast and friendly and the pricing fair. Plenty of parking nearby too.

We go out of our way to stop in at Andy’s on our travels and we are always delighted to be served a high standard of hot food by friendly staff. Couldn’t ask for more, and at really good prices. Much better than Jaconelli’s who could learn a thing or two about customer service (and on how to cook chips) from Andy’s staff.

Usually happy with orders, though this time we ordered fired for delivery including a bottle of ketchup, we received brown sauce and asked the delivery driver if he could swap it and bring us ketchup. He said no bother, we then waited 45 minutes and still no sauce, we phoned them to ask if it was on it’s way and the guy on the phone said the driver was out with deliveries and he would get to us. Another 20 minutes passed and by then the shop was shut and still no sauce. No apology and lazy sounding staff, not interested in correcting errors or customer service!

Lovely freshly cooked fish on request. Fab takeaway and also a restaurant area too. Great value for money too. Lots of selection too.

Went for a lunch on the way home from work £3 lunch time special I have had the sausage and chips before and it was very average. The other day I got chips gravy and a can for £3 very yummy. £3 for a quick meal and a can you can’t complain.

In at least once a week to sit in and joy a lovely fish tea served by friendly staff in spotlessly clean surroundings. Excellent value for money.

I went in straight from work and asked when i went in to put a special fish in , after waiting THIRTY MINUTES , i asked if it was ready only to be told that she forgot to put it in , NO APOLOGY, so as i was walking out the woman started laughing as if it was funny , disgusting way to treat your customers , i shall not be back and I'll make sure i let everyone know about your lack of people skills ........

Not great far to greasy and never tasted to good as well chips were not great and sausage was soggy don’t think al be back

During our latest visit to this excellent Fish & Chip shop we were served lovely food by the friendliest staff and at very reasonable prices. Becoming a regular once- a-week event.

Went into the fish restaurant for a fish tea. He fish was very good and cooked to perfection and the service was good

This fish and chip shop is located on the Dumbarton High Street. The unassuming food establishment has a red and white furniture theme with very good service.. My family of 5 people ordered the fish and chips, Scottish mutton pie, Pizza crunch and iron bru to wash all the delicious food down. The very generous portion of fish and chips was so very delicious and non-oily. The Scottish mutton pie was a treat packed with mutton and covered in lovely pie crust. The pizza was battered and fried to golden perfection. What a fantastic fried cuisine for all those fried food lovers.

The fish tea served was huge. The large pieces of fish were fresh and the chips freshly done. Staff very polite and pleasant.

We ordered a munchy box to be delivered this evening. I was asked on the phone when ordering if I wanted salt & vinegar, to which I replied "yes, can I have a lot?". 1 hour later and it arrives. We opened and there was not a single drop of salt or vinegar. I should point out that this is the third time that this has happened. I called them and the customer service I experience was ludicrous. I was told 4 times "there's def salt & vinegar on it, because the boy wrote it down that he put it on it" If I write down that I climbed Everest, it doesn't make it true. I'm not lying and I'm not stupid. I was kept on the line for over 10 minutes whilst I heard them arguing about what to do, shouting. The girl even had to phone the boss to ask if they could exchange it, I mean "come on"!! I'm not sad enough that I'm reviewing them just because there was no S&V; what has outraged me is the terrible way we were dealt with. The girl came back on the phone, telling me again that S&V; was def on it and the box must've soaked it up

Several more visits to this well run fish restaurant in Dumbarton and on each occasion had a lovely fish tea served up by friendly staff. Excellent value.

Phoned and ordered large chips and as soon as it came there they handed me a small and the thing is this has happened more then one how can a small back feed 2 people and as we phones they where rude I think maybe they should learn to right down peoples orders and to make it even more annoying they where hard in the middle so ended up in bin as they where unfit for human consumption they have went downhill in the last couple of years

Waited over 15mins while 3 people made up an order for home delivery to be told when asked what I wanted that the oven for a pizza was not on so would have to wait even longer,when I pointed out that I had been there already awhile she was very rude spoke over me an had no customers service,no wonder they don't queue out side the door any more? Could have asked me what I wanted when first came in an put the oven on save me the wait,will never be back,go to the one in the high street,great the way Silverton used to make them,don't know if they use lots of cheep ingredients but definitely not what it used to be,never will I go back,save ur self the disappointment,avoid?

Just had a home delivery order, took over an hour to arrive and when it did the food was cold, two of the items (the king rib and pizza) were burnt and the chips & curry sauce were just plain chips with no curry sauce. Very disappointed.

Stopped off on Bank Holiday monday there, after being out all day trying to entertain kids and driving for hours. Was in and out within a few minutes. Food was hot, fresh, tasty, and not dripping in grease unlike some of the other local chip shops food can be.

Visited for takeaway today after place being closed for a while. About 10 staff walking about aimlessly and miserable. Took approx 15 mins to be served although only 2 people in front of us restaurant definitely takes priority. Food scattered all over the floor very visible also old used tea bags left lying on food counter. Shelving where plates kept looked greasy and dirty. Definitely expected better. We were served by a lady in plaster cast who clearly made us feel as if customers were just a bother. Food was ok what we got of it as a young boy barely wrapped it and stuffed it all in bag by time we got home we had fish mixed with sausage and black pudding lying at bottom of bag. Sorry to say probably won't visit again until maybe some training gets done.

Never had a bad chippy here always served with a smile. Can get vefy busy espdcailly at t time but worth the wait

This wee place has never let me down and the fish suppers are like when you were young over 50 years ago lol. I always sit in and it`s very clean with great service and great food no matter what you buy. Absolutely recommended.

this restaurant has also got good takeaway at the front with 6 lunchtime specials for 2 pound 50 includes a can of pepsi very clean premises with friendly staff

Food is always fresh and hot. Prices are very reasonable too. Staff are friendly too. ad home delivery before, but as the food is in a plastic bag it sweats, so no to home delivery collection only.

After a "wee refreshment" in The James Lang my 3 brothers and I decided we would have a wee fish supper before catching the bus home on Thursday. Once again we were all completely delighted with our sit in fish teas. Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, pleasant surroundings, good food served properly and an excellent value for money experience. Will definitely be back.

Lovely spotless wee sit in area which reminds me of a diner, staff are always friendly and chatty and willing to help. Takeaway is always delivered quickly and hot on arrival. pizza deal of buy1 get i free on tuesdays is great.

Recent .visit purchasing 3 fish suppers for only £3.50 each! Really good value. Friendly staff, spotlessly clean premises and efficient service.
