Was recommended by friends to try this resturant and i can honestly say it was one of the best currys ive had especially the chicken jalfrezi, the service was exceptional also , i will definitely be back .. 10/10

Recently moved into the area and was recommended going to the Taj Mahal by my friends. Was the best food I have had in a long time and the staff was excellent. All the food was cooked to perfection and came out on time. Highly recommend this place for an excellent curry and atmosphere and trust me I have been to many curry houses up and down the country.

The nicest, friendliest people and the most amazing food. Their vegetarian Kashmir is so good and the waiters are really attentive, helpful and make this such a lovely experience. Highly recommend!

What a fabulous restaurant, great food, fabulous staff, great value for money. It may be BYO but that doesn’t detract from a fabulous evening experience will definitely be back. 10/10 Taj Mahal

Went with afew friends and was blown away by the food and service , really lovely atmosphere and nice feel to it , chicken jalfrezi was exceptional.

Me and my friends are regulars at Taj Mahal. The team’s hospitality is always on point and greet us with a big smile.It is a great environment for any occasion. Most importantly what goes hand in hand with a great environment at a restaurant? Well of course it’s the food! Always get great recommendations from the waiting staff and every time we try something new it always tastes amazing. Recently got recommended the Lamb Karahi which was cooked to perfection, definitely my go to now when I come back!

Not great service. Arrived at 6:30 and meal arrived at 20:05 Not a great experience. Food was really good though, however there could have been more rice with the curry.

Ordered a take awsy last night. It was a long wait 1 hour, but well worth it, and obviously they were very busy (which is a good thing). Absolutely delicious. Would have been 5 star but one of the nan breads were missing from order and had to phone and pick up another which meant mine was cold and my partner had eaten most of his while I was waiting for bread! Other than the bread issue its the best we have had for ages from anywhere.

When we arrived the restaurant was empty, I didn't realize no alcohol was served there, we were handed luke warm water with a lime slice, ordered a starter, Tandoori Chicken, the lighting was very dim I could not even read the menu. When it arrived it was a leg , I dont eat brown meat, it tasted like it had been Microwaved, the salad was laughable, 3 leaves of lambs lettuce halve of a cherry tomato, and one slice of cucumber again cut in half did not enjoy that!, we ended up sitting and waiting from start to finish 1.45 hours, no one else was in I could hear a child in the prep Kitchen too, the main was nice small portions tho I did say not too spicy the waiter suggested sag aloo, it was so spicy, the whole thing was so long and drawn out for not being busy I would not go again .... seems to be all for takeaways

Disgusted that I booked a table for 8.30 to then be told to come back in 30 mins. Phoned again at 9.15 to be told to try again in 15 mins. Pathetic guys to be honest. If I book a table at 8.30 then don’t let walk ins override my booking please. As a regular I am really disappointed- won’t be coming back now and will go elsewhere

Such a great meal! Very tasty will definitely go back Starter and main with Poppa doms for 2 of us was £45 . Although they do need to say when phoning that they don’t have a license and you can bring your own drink . Fortunately I was told before we went 🙂

Best Indian I think we have ever had! Friendly and efficient service followed by the most delicious dishes. We will be back.

Visited on a Thursday night, it was nice and quiet - we were the only people there, which suited me as I prefer quiet places, but seemed a shame as the service and food were excellent... Could be because they don't serve alcohol - which isn't the end of the world, especially for me as I don't drink, but I know some people can't enjoy a meal out without alcohol...

We’ve been to Taj Mahal in Market Deeping quite a few times, but have to say the food just gets better and better! Service was good, even though they were busy as usual.

Don’t know how there’s been no reviews on here since 2013, but if you look on google reviews there is loads of great ones. Amazing food, piping hot, fresh and full of flavour. Service was great Atmosphere is good, comfy place Nice restaurant to have locally

The BEST Indian Take away we have had for years, a chicken Madras that was NOT full or onion FANTASTIC & the chicken ceylon id to die for, Wonderful flavours in all dishes and not out of the same pot as with most take aways... Taj Mahal is something else lovely and fresh and piping hot. Thank you Taj Mahal we will be back again and again and again

Three curries. 1 mild, 1 medium, 1 hot...all very delicious. Very, very nice. Had naan and other extras and all as superb as the curries!!

Sooooo much lamb! And it’s good lamb! Not fatty and very fresh. With a perfectly spiced, rich gravy that I would happily have a Spa day in! Simply delicious!

Visited restaurant with a group of three friends. Luckily we had booked ahead with a table as the whole place was packed with diners. Very polite and attentive staff plus the food was excellent. All three of us enjoyed our meals. Approx. 18 months ago I visited the same restaurant and then had a bad all round experience which reflected in a not so good review. They really have listened and improved all round. Thanks to all and we shall be returning.

Having eaten in the restaurant just over a year ago used them to order via Just Eat for a Friday night curry takeaway. Time scheduled was 60 mins which was fine, and to our delight it arrived 10 mins early. Chicken Rogan Josh was certainly on the livelier side of other RJ dishes I have had, but delicious nonetheless. Lamb Nawabi was also a good choice and with sides and poppadums a tasty delcious meal was enjoyed by all.

The food was immaculate and cooked to perfection. Service and hospitality was amazing by the waiters . Really lovely meal and had a very warm welcome. Will definitely be coming back !! Would recommend people to come and try it out.

My friend and I have met here on a few occasions in the past. The food is really good and although the service can be a bit slow at times, it's ok as long as you're not in a hurry. The staff are attentive without being fussy and it is clear from how quickly the venue fills up that it is popular locally. There is plenty of free parking outside (at least in the evening). There is a Chargepoint charging station in the car park opposite the Co-Op garage.Access for someone with limited mobility could be an issue, especially in a wheelchair, as there are tow front doors with heavy closers on them.

Honestly has to be the best value for money sterling can purchase. I'm not saying that this curry house is the best I've been to but the price in comparison to the quality is second to none. And I highly recommend the tandoori king prawns. Best I've ever had.

We visited on Friday 30th August after a recommendation from Steve at the Square Pub.The restaurant was full but Imran suggested waiting as a table was due to become available.We were well looked after , the table was tucked away in corner which suited us perfectly.The food & service was excellent & we will definitely return to try some other things on the menu.

Nice friendly restaurant with a good choice of food. Dishes taste fresh and not as if they have been pre-cooked. Reduced menu in the week which is great value, 2 course or 3 : papadums, main, side dish, choice of rice, choice of nans. Add starter for 3 course.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant, I’ve been here to dine in with friends/ family and also ordered take away. They have a what I call ‘cheap night’ twice a week where they have a set menu with plenty of choices. The food is always excellent quality and good value. Portion sizes are generous but not too big. The restaurant is quite small so I’d recommend you book for a Friday/ Saturday night. It’s clean and has a cozy authentic atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and very accommodating to special dietary requirements. I’m definitely looking forward to my next visit.

The pickle tray isn't complimentary, but you get five choices rather than the usual three. Garlic nan was then most enjoyable. Main course of prawns (generously plentiful) and mushroom bahji was excellent, although took a little long to arrive on a quiet evening. Service was admirably friendly and eager to please diners.

Don't get me wrong the quality of the food is great but waiting 1 hour 45 mins for a takeaway is not good then when it arrived it was only just warm.... You need more staff - simple really.

Came to Stamford on business and ate here with my colleagues. The waiter was beyond helpful and nice, and the food was very tasty. The restaurant is small but cosy and I would love to go back when I come again!

Went there as a group of 4 guys both pre & post-Christmas. Both times excellent service from very friendly staff. Food was excellent and a good wide range of traditional dishes. Even allowing for the vast amount of beers we consumed the bill for starters and mains still only came to £40 per head. Without the beer, I would think you could half that.

With a hungry family totalling 8, we were superbly looked after from start to finish. The Cobra was good and combined brilliantly with the curry. On a Saturday evening the place was exceedingly full so booking was a good idea for early in the evening.

We got there at 6.30 and luckily got the only table which could seat 6. (The place was empty at that time). Good menu to select from, there was only one visible staff member who worked hard serving during the evening. One of our group was doubtful of the chicken she ordered being properly cooked, this was replaced immediately without question, otherwise the food was excellent, washed down with Cobra beer. Convenient location, ample parking, recommended!

My first trip to Market Deeping visiting family, and this place came recommended and going by our visit it lived up to it , Small but nice restaurant, lovely friendly staff , food was very nice , good atmosphere about the place when a free customers are in , thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely return.

First time trying this restaurant for a takeaway, after a friends recommendation. Beautifully cooked meal with good portion sizes and reasonable priced too. Very friendly staff. Thank you. We will be back.

Stunning food once again at my local curry house. Saag Paneer all day long for me. The staff are so helpful and plenty of food was brought out to celebrate with the race-team. As usual ordering away from the menu is not a problem and having one dish "spiced up" a bit was easy for the staff. The chef I found out has been the same for the last 16 years and I'd just complemented him that it seems to have got even better recently....

Bought takeaway here on Tuesday evening called in to ordered and told ready to collect in 30 minutes so left and on return it was not ready so waited a considerable time.

Before reviewing I want to be honest and say I have not contacted the restaurant - but feel like I should not have to.

Have been going for some time, the food is very good but some dishes excel. My particular favourites are the jalfraise, madras and dansak. The staff are always very friendly and obliging. They do special nights on tuesday and wednesday which are good valve for money. However they do get busy and you can wait up to an hour for the main course but its well worth the wait.

Never had a bad meal at this Family run Restaurant. Been loads of times as it is our local. Sometimes the service is a little slow but I don’t really care. I’m going for a sit down meal not fast food !! Beers are good. All staff are friendly, polite and helpful and do well to manage the tables and the takeaways. If you appreciate that there is only a few staff doing everything including the bar, then you can let them off for being a bit slow on occasions. Food is always fresh and tasty. I’ve tried most of the Indian restaurants in the area and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Ok so coldest day of the year with major snow. My wife goes with friends for a meal. And... they have no heating. They have to wear coats whilst eating and no apology nor money off. Should have been contacted before hand so they could of made alternative arrangement . Poor

Just the best. I've never had curry at the top of my "favourite" list, but that has converted me. Brilliant service too. Well worth the visit!

It is the third time myself and my wife have been to this restaurant as trying to find a decent Indian restaurant up this way since moving from the south. But this is not a bad restaurant and the food is pretty good - wouldnt have come back if it wasnt i guess. But on our last visit it didnt go too well and i have to warn other patrons of the dangers.

I have visited this place around two times and so far the taste has been average for all the curries that I have ordered, plus the curry size is too small against their charged price. The restaurant from inside is small thus not so good for the large groups, can be good for couples or a group of 4. Location wise its in center so quite convenient and close to co-op and petrol station, with ample parking space.

Visit this restaurant with my family all the time. Best indian restaurant around! The food and service is exceptional! Would definitely recommend.

I visited the restaurant with a friend one evening. The pickle tray and Poppodoms were ok. The Prawn Purees were ok. It went all down hill when the prawn madras appeared. I have never tasted a worse prawn Madras in my life. It was Phall hot but the heat was coming from just pure chilli powder. I love hot curries but this was ridiculous. I will never return to the restaurant again and I would certainly never recommend it.

Reservamos el Taj Mahal como salir de cena para un compañero de trabajo, ya que había oído cosas buenas sobre él. Es un pequeño, pero acogedor restaurante con un amplio menú de comida deliciosa a un precio decente! El servicio también era genial. Es un lugar ideal para pequeños grupos sociales, familias, o cenas románticas para dos. Sin duda volveríamos a reservar.

We love it here - always our go to place for Indian. Could not recommend it more. The staff are really friendly and there is a special offer Tuesdays and Wednesdays which is good.

Booked a table for a Saturday night just few days in advance. The place was totally packed and a nice ambience.We all had different dishes and everything was spot on. Peshwari Naan was fab.Boys loved the kingfisher beer, wine was an odd selection but sensibly priced and actually better than I expected.Can't quite understand why We haven't been before, but will definitely return.

Having a family member visit before and enjoyed it greatly he wanted us to experience the curry however we all found the curry rather tasteless and watery I don't like curry hotter than a medium so i was recommended the house curry which had no taste what so ever... I shall not be in a hurry to return however the waiting staff was very friendly and welcoming sharing banter with one another . Overall was pleasant atmosphere but I don't rate the meal we had that evening , I hope to return another day and be able to give a more positive review .

This is a fairly small restaurant so booking is best at busy times. The service was good, the food was lovely, the portions were food sized and the price was standard.

My mate Les has been coughing on about the taj for donkeys. I see why now! The tikka was the one of the best tikka's that I've ever had. Sweet and succulent. The Mrs had a chilly masala thingy - not even on the menu but they made it anyway. The staff made us feel special. One waiter, Assh, even spent some time talking to me about memes between courses. He had a real passion. So rare these days.

The world is orange . Everything was orange . First time ever I have had orange peshwari nan and no sultanas at all in both pieces . Taste wise not good , hot but tasteless. Disappointed and won't go back . Chicken rubbery and orange ( no other way to describe it ). Pilau rice wasn't pilau rice , just multi coloured rice, no spice or cardamom and not the same as I have ever had before . On a plus side other half liked the special lamb biryani , so have upped the rating a little . It was hot and cooked through so that's always good too. However , have learnt from this mistake , sorry but not to our taste and had perhaps too high expectations .

This is a real find of a resturant. Family run by some of the nicest people you will ever meet. We have visited the Taj for many years and always loved their Authentic food and atmosphere. We have never had a bad meal and nothing is too much for them. If the dish is not on the menu then they will make it for you. When we have visited other resturants when away, we have found although they have been nice, they have never quite reached the fantastic food and service at the Taj. It's a must of a place to visit. You won't regret it!!

Delicious food and great staff. We ordered several mains and shared, which was a nice medley of the different meals. Yummy poppadom dressings too!

Brilliant family run restaurant in heart of Market Deeping. Extremely accommodating staff who will do anything to help you enjoy your curry and chill.The Taj also gives you exceptional value for money, the ratio of quality food to bunce is weighted heavily in the favour of the customer. The food is a mix of old country Kashmiri recipes with western tastes. The waiters are always happy to offer recommendations, so try something you've not had before.It gets very busy on a Friday and Saturday night, so be sure to call in advance for your table.

The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of the Rainbow Centre in Market Deeping and if you did not it was there, you would easily walk past it without realising. However, do not let that fool you. The restaurant really is the hidden gem of this town.I visited with six colleagues during a weekday. The cosy and traditional decor really gives you that traditional Indian dining experience, which most other Indian restaurants lack nowadays. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. We chose a number of dishes, with starters, sides, rice and naans. Portions were plentiful and the overall food was lovely. Most Indian restaurants smother their curries in lots of cream and/or spices. The Taj Mahal does not do this - all the dishes had their unique and distinctive flavour and taste. I would highly recommended the Chicken Tikka Balti with a Garlic Nan. Glad to see that there are still traditional Indian restaurants around with authentic and honest food!

Pretty much standard Indian, service was a little slow but always polite. Recent take away was poor - cold and Bombay Aloo was also disappointing.

This restaurant may look a bit dated and is quite small but don't be fooled into thinking it's an average little town curry house. We regularly visit and use for takeaways and rarely has the food been less than excellent. The staff are very friendly and the service is great.

This place used to good but having our usual for the last 2 weeks were gonna have to go elsewhere. Hardly any chicken , watery , dry naans and cold . Such a shame used to be really good .

Small restaurant looks uninspiring from the car park but always good food.I can be fussy about unidentified meat in sauces so normally opt for chicken but no hesitation in ordering lamb here as always delicious and fat free.Staff friendly and helpful. It is unpretentious and I would recommend. Easy car parking and they offer takeaway service

First visit to the Taj Mahal and found it to be excellent. The food was spot on, the atmosphere cosy and intimate and the service was excellent. Well worth a visit!

Always a good meal but waiting times can be quote long. But guess this is to food being freshly cooked. Always friendly.

We absolutely love this place we have to control ourselves and only go twice a week!!Family run, excellent service and the food is brilliant, we have just been to Brick Lane in London, "curry capital of the world" although we had a great meal there we think it is still not a patch on the Taj . Excellent house wine at only £9.95 a bottle. On Tues/Wed night they have a great set menu for £11.95 or £9.95, poppadum's, starter, side dishes, rice, nan bread and a main course with plenty to chose from! enjoy!

Our favourite restaurant in Deeping was closed so in desperation we booked here. Well what a hidden gem! It doesn't look much from the outside but it was really first class. We received a warm welcome, swift drinks order and enjoyed poppadums with delicious sauces. There were 6 of us and we ordered a wide variety of dishes and sides. All were beautifully presented with generous portion sizes. Everybody loved them and commented on the fresh taste.Good service and a reasonable bill - we'll be back.

Came here with my partner for an evening meal and was sadly very disappointed! The service wasn't great! Although they were very quick to help it felt like they were standing there watching us eat, then they forgot about our drinks. The food wasn't as good as I expected it to be and I don't think I'll be coming here again! What a shame!

Excellent Indian, good portion sizes well cooked traditional Indian food. Would recommend chicken tikka with a vegetable curry.

Visited with the family to celebrate my sons birthday. Although we booked a table we still had to sit an wait for 20 mins to be seated. We did eventually receive an apology The food was excellent and service was attentive. We've previously only been to the other Indian in Deeping for the last few years, I think we may come here more often as the atmosphere is much better

I decided to give this restaurant a go after several friends recommended and must admit was never a fan of Indian until their currys hit the spot!! This little restaurant is an absolute winner over any Indian I have EVER had and i say that because of the exceptional service provided by the two young lads who were very accommodating to me and my wife. I tried the Chicken tikka Jalfrezi and my wife tried the Lamb buna and we were exceptionally pleased not only with the food but also with the waiters who were checking upon the food several times to ensure everything was ok and although it was pretty busy and we were anticipating a waiting time of 30-40mins the waiters under promised and over delivered by serving the food at such a fast pace. The food was so tender and mouth watering I have been three times in the last month and they will continue to have my custom with their great food and service. Highly recommended!!

We have recently moved to the area and have been lucky enough to find this restaurant, It is quite a small intimate place with very friendly and helpful staff. We have eaten in many Indian Restaurants up and down the country, but I can Honestly say The jalfrezi I had here was The Best one I have Ever had. On Tuesday and Wednesday's they have a cheaper set menu to choose from. Fantastic evening again. Thanks

This place is a hidden gem not only the decor is excellent the food is amazing. The waiters are very friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. Me and my wife just turned up without booking the staff acknowledged us straight away we ordered the food which was all sizzling and fantastic. What an experience. Top marks worth recommending.

Love this place - great service and humour from the waiters and of course fine food. Thankfully it's retained the character of the original Indian restaurants in the UK which endears it to me (just lacks that waterfall picture where the back-light makes it look as if it's flowing and the traditional music).Have been and will continue to go back many times.

Ordered a takeaway and collected to which you get 10% off which is good. Large menu, I had tandoori mixed grill which had tandoori lamb, chicken, chicken on the bone and sheek kebab. All cooked well and chicken remained moist. Partner had chicken tikka massala which the sauce was really nice, thick and full flavoured. Let down for me was pilau rice which to be honest tasted very plain. We had selection of naan breads which hit the spot. Overall enjoyable take away and all pretty well cooked would definitely go back

Were were a table of 3 and it was a Friday night.Be prepared for extremely slow service, cramped conditions i.e. tables too close. We felt like sardines in a tin. The food wasn't really worth the 50 minute wait with no explanation. Small portions with average taste and presentation.Expensive meal because you will buy more drinks whilst you wait for the meal. It came to the point where we were going to leave to eat a kebabs on the street.Not a good evening!

Usually we collect our family order but this evening I had a meal for one delivered. The food was, as always, delicious- I especially love the peshwari naan. Even though it was a small order for delivery, the staff were as cheerful, friendly and efficient as usual. The delivery was bang on time and the food was lovely and hot- definitely recommend!

Having lived in MKT Deeping for a number of years and tried all of the other Indian restaurants, I thought I would try the Taj Mahal for a change. I ordered my usual, lamb vindaloo, pilau rice and keema nan.The nan and rice were fine, quite average but nothing to shout about. The vindaloo on the other hand was diabolical! Basically, a plate of very runny tinned tomatoes cooked with a few chillies and some tasteless stringy meat thrown in as an afterthought! It was literally running off of my plate! Having eaten vindaloo in all corners of the world, I feel qualified in saying that this was the worst ever! Certainly shall not be returning. Don't quite also understand how it takes 1 hour to cook this either!! Yes. It was Saturday evening and they were busy but even so.....

Always a family favourite, good atmosphere, plenty of good quality food and good value for money. Staff are always polite and friendly. Tuesdays and Wednesdays offer is fantastic, more food than you can eat and amazing price would highly recommend!!

Excellent experience at the Taj Mahal (Market Deeping) - warm hospitality and a simple menu to select from at a very good price. Good food appears swiftly and was tasty. My first visit and will come back. I particularly enjoyed the onion bahjis and veggie side dishes; plus the mint sauce which is thick enough to stay on the pappadum!

Well very friendly staff and the food is also very good and we always see the same people in there too so must be good to them going back. Must pay a visit soon
