Saagar Indian Take Away in South Kesteven

Have usually been very pleased with food here but last night Chicken Tikka Saag was more mild than medium. I ordered a Chicken Chat starter and a Chicken Tikka starter was delivered, there was not even a mint dressing sent with this. What has gone wrong with this place.

Yes not bad, not bad at all. There is a lot of choice here in Grantham and this is one of the better ones.

Me and my family have been coming to Saagar for over 25 years.The chefs cooked the food to the highest standard for decades but the recent change of ownership has brought around a major drop in quality I'm afraid. They had the same chefs in Sagaar for 3 decades and the food was sublime every time without fail. Ordered twice now in recent weeks since new ownership and both times the curries were bland and quality of ingredients didn't anywhere near match Sagaar's famous reputation. The rice was ok, naan breads fine but that isn't enough is it. It looks like we'll be on the look out for a different Curry house to use from now on. A sad end of an era at Sagaar.

We have had great food from here in the past. A regular customer. It’s so disappointing that the food is so bad we could not eat any of it. The whole meal was so inedible that i am unable to find one positive. When we complained the experience just got worse. We won’t return. If only I could give less than one star as an option.

We’ve always had our Indian takeaway from saagar but not had one for ages due to lockdown.We had friends visiting the other night so we chose to order a takeaway.Our food came quicky and was hot fresh and as tasty as ever always a good meal and never a bad one why go elsewhere ‍♂️

The shop is in the run down end of the street, and really is not very inviting. Just walking past I would give it a wide berth, but it was recommended so we tried it for a family meal. I was very impressed. The chicken was tender, plentiful, in large chunks. Swimming in sauce, but I love that sauce and the naan mops it up a treat. The lamb balti was excellent, tender lamb (which is usually fatty and gristly but not in this dish), with a great balance of spices. The peshwari naans were excellent. I will be coming back. Take cash, they do not accept cards.

Simply the best... One of the oldest traditional Indian takeaways in Grantham. Prompt delicious curry delivered to your door. Or pop in order and have a quick pint at spoons before collect... Try the Thali and veg/non-veg and your indecision of what curry to have tonight will b rewarded. Never had a bad one xx enjoy....

Having been told by friends about Sagar for some time decided to give It a go tonight. Well, sat down waiting for the meal and the place was a throwback to the eighties, definitely hasn’t had an update since then. But there appearances can deceive.Anyway got my meal and took it home, loads of food but swimming in grease. It appeared to be reheated and overcooked. The roti was dry and tasteless, but there again the dog enjoyed it! The Sagar Special, which had been recommended to me appeared and tasted like reheated meat leftovers from last night.If you enjoy this sort of food I am worried for you.....Keep clear!

We use Sagaar on a regular basis and have been for about 5 years the food is always first rate, high quality and delicious. It doesn't look great and hasn't seen much in the way of decoration for some time but don't let that put you off! Recommended dishes are the chicken dhansak, lamb biryani and peshwari naan. Staff are always polite and there 'about 20-25 minutes' is always spot on. Can't vouch for delivery as we always collect. GREAT PLACE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

New Year's Day curry with friends and kids. Ordered as it opened. Ready in 30 mins. Good food, on time and at a decent price. Would go use them again.

If we order and Indian take away it’s always from saagar, we have been ordering from here for years and never ever had a bad one, always hot and always delivered before they say the wait time is. Would never go anywhere else!

We visit the area every August and for at least the last 8 years we have had delivery/takeout from Saagar ,and what a great find. Good value, large portions and great flavours, which this takeaway was nearer my home town as I would definitely be a regular. Shame it’s not online but we save our menus so we can decide what to order beforehand. Also cash only.

Been coming to this lovely Indian takeaway for over 10 years when working in Grantham . Same chef & delivery driver , still remember me when I come in . The food is exceptional and good value for money, that’s why I’m in every night. Hope to be back soon . Please try it . You will be satisfied with value and flavour .

What an amazing curry, from starter to mains. All tastes so good. Authentic flavours and so well prepared. If you like curry you can’t go wrong giving this a try. Highly recommend.

The cheapest Indian take-away in town by far. Although the base sauces have similar textures, and not what you'd get in a restaurant, it taste pretty good. Each main item is probably enough for two people, so unless you're a trougher, you'll have plenty left for another day.

Used this place loads of times. Staff always friendly, food always great and great prices too. What more can I say.

By far the most consistent takeaway in Grantham, always excellent service, fantastic food with very reasonable prices,nothing is too much trouble, which is why we have been a regular customer since they opened.
