INCREDIBLE! We went here after our 14km walk at seven sisters, and this really hit the spot. Butter chicken was insane, wish we lived closer so we could go back more often

Every course fantastic, and with great service. I was worried ‘fine dining’ might mean doing something unnecessary or even having less spice, but it’s everything you want from Indian food just done really really well. We had three courses, all familiar dishes we’ve had from restaurants around the country, but taken to another level. We’ll be back.

The Restaurant itself is beautiful inside and has a very calm environment. The staff are lovely and the food cannot be faulted. An absolutely fantastic experience. Thank you so much.

My family and I were looking for a small takeaway vegan Indian meal after eating ice cream on Eastbourne Pier. We came across this restaurant by chance and found that they didn’t do takeaways. The restaurant felt so inviting that we stayed and ordered more food than we intended originally. And ate every last piece it was so good! The service was first rate, the food was the best Indian food I have eaten in a very long time, and the atmosphere was calm and friendly. If we lived nearby this would definitely become a regular spot. After a hectic day in the wind and cold weather, this was just what we needed to regroup and relax. Eat here - you won’t regret it.

We just dined at Taj Indian Kitchen tonight, and it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The meal we had was, without a doubt, the best Indian cuisine we've ever tasted. Honestly the most deserved 5/5. From the moment we sat down we were looked after exquisitely. We received a lovely panipuri starter that was absolutely delicious! The food was so flavorful, the portions the perfect size and the service 10/10. The popadom dips were so tasty, the best we’ve ever had too. We were just passing through so probably will not be here again but will think about this place often! Definitely a must visit if you like Indian food.

I dined with my husband at Taj Indian Kitchen. Initial service was stiff to the point of arrogant, although it's possible our first waiter was just inexperienced and nervous. When we ordered two medium heat dishes, I asked about their standard heat level. The waiter was preoccupied with typing our order into his tablet, and walked away without answering. The dishes we received had aromatic flavor, but absolutely NO spice/ heat level. I asked the waiter for additional spice and he brought a plate with two WHOLE hot chili peppers. When I declined in amazement and asked for something else, another waiter explained to me " that is what they do-- that some people like to bite into the pepper while they eat". I responded that most people do not. He did take the peppers and roughly chopped them up-- expecting that I would put the large chunks on my dish. A third staff ( the manager?) approached, and told me that their medium dishes have no spice and that's how their customers like it. What? Then why is it called 'medium' spice? There was no apology, acknowledgement of error or effort to satisfy our request to receive what we thought we had ordered. I've dined in fine Indian restaurants around the world-- including in North and South India. Taj Indian Kitchen is fancy in atmosphere, but the food we received was bland, and being served whole chili peppers was laughable.

This was a lovely restaurant and the food and service was amazing. We loved the lamp to request service, great touch! The food was full of flavour and I recommend the chilli squid for starters. We will definitely come again!

The food here is amazing, best Indian food I have ever had. Onion bhajis are fabulous, as is all the dishes we had. Service is great, staff are friendly and helpful. Love the light you touch on the table when you want to get the attention of the staff. This will definitely be our go to restaurant for Indian food.

Since moving to Eastbourne a couple of years ago, I’ve been looking for a good Indian restaurant and, finally, I have found it. The delicious food is beautifully presented by attentive staff and the ambiance is relaxed. The menu is varied, with everything from your Indian restaurant classics to some really interesting dishes and even a tasting menu (that I can’t wait to try!). I 100% recommend.

Best Indian restaurant ever did…we just spent a weekend in Eastbourne and bumped into this restaurant, honestly we didn’t expect much but we had such a wonderful experience! Never expected an Indian fine dining could be so amazing. Very friendly and attentive service and the dishes are well presented and the taste is just unbelievable good. Thanks for the chef and the staffs. Such a pity they only have one restaurant…We hope that we will come back in near future.

What can I say, first time experiencing Taj and it was absolutely amazing. I cannot fault the staff tentative friendly and quick. The food, is absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The flavours are amazing and the presentation is beautiful. I cannot recommend this place enough for people to come and try. Will be back again for sure.

This is a nice Indian restaurant. There are a few little touches that make it welcoming and unique. Our waiter Anoop was very friendly, polite and professional. We had the chilli squid to start and then the Calcutta Chicken and Lamb Aubergine Angara. The only disappointment for us was the waiting time for the food. We did go on a Friday at 7pm though. We would return if visiting Eastbourne again.

Genuinely my new favourite restaurant in Eastbourne, I can't believe we haven't discovered Taj before! The food was incredibly delicious, very good portion sizes and prices, and I was highly impressed with the friendly and attentive service. To top it all off, I went into labour that same evening with my beautiful baby girl - thank you to my scrummy madras curry! We will be visiting again as soon as we can. Highly recommend.

From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out it was an outstanding experience. We were greeted with a smile and friendly waiter. The food was incredible and complimented beautifully by the bottle of Rose. We could go back every weekend and not get bored of this wonderful food. Looking forward to our next visit already. I saw the reviews at 4.9 and thought we'd give it a go, looked at the menu and was disappointed not to find my usual go to for an Indian, so had to pick something at of the norm, how glad I did as it was absolutely delicious. We can not wait to go back. The squid starter was superb. And yes not the cheapest but its a "you get what you pay for sort of place"

Delicious food, amazing service and fascinating attention to detail!

The staff were extremely kind, but unfortunately our table of 12 didn't receive our main courses until we were in the restaurant for 2hrs and 10 mins! Our starters arrived 1hr 20 mins after arrival. This was for a 8.30pm booking so by the time food came out some of our party needed to rush dinner to get the train home in time, no time for puddings either. The restaurant didn't appear to be at capacity. Just far too long sitting around. Atmosphere was also quite dead as there wasn't really any music on and the place is quite brightly lit for an evening meal. We all commented the following week that our meals were also pretty average for the price. I had a Haryali and it was extremely bland for a curry which is meant to be rich in garlic and coriander. Starters also very small. Seems like the restaurant has an otherwise great fanbase judging by the other reviews, so perhaps we just went on a bad night. However we wont be returning as its too expensive to risk another repeat experience.

We have returned here a few times now and each time it reminds us just how excellent it is. The quality is without a doubt the best and we look forward to our next visit.

Had a great evening here with my wife. The restaurant accommodated us even though we had not booked. I would recommend booking as the restaurant did fill up very quickly. We had a nice two seater in the middle of the restaurant near the bar. Shortly after being seated a complimentary starter came out, which was nice. All the food here has a small twist on what I would called a traditional Indian restaurant in the UK. I had Old Delhi Butter chicken which was amazing, one of the best dishes I’ve had in a while and my wife had Lamb Rogan Gosht which she says was amazing, flavourful with the lamb just melted in the mouth. I also had onion bhaji, again a twist that made it taste great, a plain naan which is the best I’ve ever eaten. Service was good, attentive, and quick. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody who likes Indian cuisine. Hats off the chefs here the food is great! Thank you!

A significant cut above anything else local so regular curry eaters will notice this immediately. It is expensive but perhaps not out of keeping with averages. The poppadoms were unlike any we have had, and a welcome contemporary refresh on the classic. Overall - exceptional food and very attentive service, and a very nice bathroom so we had a very nice evening here so we can’t really fault this place at all.

This is now in my top four UK Indian restaurants the ambiance is superb the service is excellent but most importantly the food is simply divine the starter pocket was unusual and really good a lovely mixture and the old Delhi butter chicken was the best I've tasted with a lovely sauce and succulent chicken but with crisp edges like tandor cooked chicken it was another level

We ate late minute here yesterday evening before going to the theatre. The food was amazing, as were the staff. The decor was lovely and clean, including the bathroom. Well worth a visit and would highly recommend. Sadly we live in Brighton!

We had dinner recently and were really impressed. A lovely ambience, friendly staff and some delicious and interesting food we’d not seen on other menus. The lamb shank, lamb and potato curry, and the pineapple side curry were especially good. They were also excellent at catering to my dairy and gluten free needs. We’d really recommend a visit.

Fine restaurant on a par with the better Indian restaurants in London. The food is exceptional and the prices will reflect that. Well worth a visit.

Had seen this opened in February 2023 and had wanted to get here sooner but today was the first time we made it and very pleased we did. Quieter mid week. We usually end up ordering the same trusted dishes in an Indian restaurant but this time we both went for the reasonably priced tasting menu and one flight of wines. Every single element was fresh, very tasty, well presented, and we were full at the end. Will definitely be returning again and I think expanding our trusted dish comfort zone - this would be the place to do it.

Outstanding food. Visiting Eastbourne and this was the best Indian meal we’ve had for years.

Nice place if a little over fussy. The amuse bouche to start with was awful (cold tasteless green liquid poured over a cold puff something) but the meal improves significantly thereafter. They give you too many papadums (note - no lime pickle), but nice spices on thé curries . Cost us £50 a head with 2 beers each, stater and main and no dessert nor side vegetable dishes. So to nicey and spicey I would add pricey!!

OK, so I have travelled a lot in the UK, including two extended research stays, during which I have spent a lot of time on comparing the quality of Indian food in restaurants all over the UK, only to discover the absolutely very best one ever in Eastbourne. Taj Indian Cuisine is a fusion restaurant which combines the best of what India has to offer with finesse, tenderness and a touch of genius. Everything is just perfect, from starters to main dishes and including the rice and the fresh, crispy naan. If you visit Eastbourne, this is a must go!!!

Very good food, definitely a level above the 'normal' Indian. Only not marked as 5 star as I had an allergic reaction to dairy after being assured. Would still go back again as I feel it was an error they would ensure did not reoccur.

First time at this magical place. I was a bit concerned about the price but then I realised. For what they provide with excellent, supurb service and outlandish magnificent food. It is worth it and more. I highly reccomend this to anyone, everyone and this is thee best curry place that I have ever eaten from. (And I eat a lot.) Just, 5 star service and 10 star food. I highly reccomend this (Again) and I will be back to try out other exciting dishes. Thank you.

Eastbourne has always been inundated with relatively average curry houses so I was so pleased when I heard about Taj. It tries to break the mould from these types of restaurants and instead offers very modern, unique and authentic explorations into south Asian cuisine. The restaurant has classy decor and has a wonderful atmosphere for special occasion dining. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

I came here for a family meal, I didn’t know what to expect but was very happy with my meal and the whole experience. The restaurant was well decorated and perfect for a special occasion. The food was also delicious and the service was great, with very attentive staff. The menu wasn’t a typical curry house menu and offered more original and authentic dishes, with the dishes plated fine dining style. I especially loved the Peshwari lamb shank and spinach tempura. I definitely will be coming back again.

At last a up market Indian eatery in Eastbourne where the service and food are exceptional and not at exceptional prices. Keep it as it is Taj, I'm constantly recommending you to friends and they are all impressed.
