I was looking for An Nam restaurant and sadly couldn't find it and ended up here. The food is way too expensive. The drink is also too expensive. 5.50 for a small bottle of beer, 20 for prawn and ginger dish. I paid 45 for bbq ribs, "sizzling" ginger and prawn (which had no sizzle at all), egg fried rice and a small bottle of beer. The service was fast but I also felt rushed and I had the bill land without even asking me if I wanted another drink. The restaurant was also empty at peak time and that should tell you something. Way too many staff standing around staring at you which makes you feel uncomfortable. So recommendation time. If you want dimsum, find a Chinese takeaway, but if you want a good 3 course meal, on my third night I went to the London Croydon Aerodrome Hotel (which is around the corner from where I'm staying) and I ordered 3 course and 2 actual pints of beer for £34 so costing less, more food and equally amazing service. ** I have no affiliation to the London Aerodrome Hotel. I'm in Croydon for 1 week on business and not even staying there because I found somewhere cheaper, but they'll serve you regardless.

While the food was decent, my overall experience was completely ruined by the ridiculous parking situation at this restaurant, and I feel compelled to warn others about it. I arrived at 5:20 PM and left at 7:41 PM after enjoying starters and a main course with a friend I hadn’t seen in a long time. Now, both of us are expecting £100 penalty charges—each! This is totally unacceptable and leaves a sour taste after what should have been a relaxing evening. What’s even more frustrating is that this restaurant is attached to a large superstore, so it’s entirely reasonable to expect people may need more than 2 hours, especially when combining dining with shopping. The fact that the restaurant got busier later in the evening also makes it highly likely that others will face the same issue. I strongly urge the management to sort this out—whether by allowing customers to extend parking time, validate tickets, or even pay for extra time if needed. Until this is resolved, I will not be returning and would advise others to think twice before visiting unless they want to risk an unfair fine.

Went there today at 12pm for a quick lunch and dim sum. Foods were okay, atmosphere was noisy as expected. However, the service was very poor and rude. When you asked for something, you either got ignored or waiting for too long. Further to that, as soon as you finished your foods on the table, they are very quick to clean up your table and bill will be on the table within 2 minutes. They don't let you to settle down after lunch and enjoy chinese tea! When confronted, they ignored you again and ask you to hurry up to pay! Very bad service!

Today we ordered the duck for me .. half for 22.00 arrived with other dishes , the duck was cold to almost chilled in the middle , and was less than 300 g approx for 1/2 . It was sent back waitress need a day off , food was substandard , quality not good . Rice was over cooked and semi warm EHO you need to pay a visit here , dangerous food procedures taken place .

I took my kids to eat in Datong a few days ago. The food there is very fresh, especially the dim sum. They are super delicious. Chicken feet, pork ribs, xiaolongbao and barbecued pork buns. Rice rolls are also delicious. I will come back again. Parking is also very convenient. There is free parking upstairs for four hours.

I would say dim sum was a bit below average. I’m sure the grilled dumplings were not made fresh and bought from frozen being stuffed with processed pork. Vietnamese spring rolls were old and refried so the skin was hard and chewy and the beef ho fun was rushed, no wok energy and could have done with a couple of more minutes on the wok to soften the noodles. Saying that, some of the dim sum were fine like the Thai style chicken feet, prawn and chive dumplings and beef cheung fun. Atmosphere was lively and busy. I felt like I was transported to the early 90s again where every Chinese restaurant in Chinatown looked this this. Staff were quick m, efficient and friendly too.

People often come here for dim sum. It gets busy on the weekend when the Cantonese families in the area meet for yum cha, and so, you may have to queue. Their roast duck is also popular. Service charge is included in the bill. If you're not used to Chinese service you might find them rude, but you need to go to Wong Kei in Chinatown to properly be treated with bad manners and not a care in the world. It's right next to the supermarket, which is convenient. Follow here and on IG for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews @one.more.step.along.the.world

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. This is an old school HK restaurant so expect old school HK service. Rude to some but quite normal and in fact good, in my opinion! Food has improved exponentially since the mass exodus of HKers to London and it’s reflected in higher prices. I don’t bother with Chinatown anymore as dim sum and evening dishes are excellent here. Tasty, well executed and consistently good.

Though I do not go and eat at Tai Tung often, the times I did I always enjoyed the food there, and I would have given a 5 star rating. But this time I'm afraid I am very disappointed. We were a family consisting of 6 adults and a child. My verdict of the dishes ordered were that one was so salty that we could not eat, some others were also salty, we had to have quite a lot of drinks of Coca Cola, Fanta and the child almost drank a can of Fanta. We could not eat the lot so had to take the rest home. This opinion is agreed with the rest of the family. My bill came to over £200.

Had dim sum this afternoon with friends since last year. Foods quality is not up to the standard, the fried dry ho fun is unbelievably poor quality, worst than a take away shop. The most annoying is the assumed lady boss who taken payment. We asked the bills to be split and she said can”t do it because of weekend. We were curious what kind of rule it is and she said we have to follow the rule. In fact when we were seated there is no advice of such rule nor any notice being shown at the entrance or menu at all. If because of busy and take extra time (not full at all while we finished) she just need to employ more staff to get it done or to have extra card machine, in my opinions. China town chinese restaurant even busy than here but never have such excuses. This is against customer right and the local custom without appropriate advice. Dont think we will come back any more to this restaurant despite it is closer and not enjoy the overall service at all.

Good food but some of the rudest, most arrogant staff around. One rude old Chinese man serving us dumped the bill on the table and then returned 10 seconds later with the card machine. When I told him we weren't ready to pay he decided to get all rude quoting some nonsense about company policy. I reminded him that he was living in the United Kingdom and needed to learn some basic good manners if his mother and father hadn't taught him any, if you want good food,l and can tolerate the rudeness then go along, But if you want polite service, you're probably better off going elsewhere.

I’m going to start by saying that the restaurant is beautiful looking. The staff and pricing is brutal and the food isn’t the worst but definitely not worth the money you pay. We’ve been a few times now but nothing is ever consistent - needless to say we have given the benefit of the doubt a few times now. Yesterday was the worst yet, we won’t be coming back. We’re not sure if our baby threw the fork on the floor which ended up directly next to the table behind us, and the waiter picked it up and asked us if we threw the fork and my husband said that it was probably the baby or could’ve been the table behind but still apologised. The waiter then said abruptly ‘don’t throw forks’. Looooool how are you talking to a grown man like that who’s a customer? Then the staff have the cheek to look our way and have a giggle. Guys, your lucky we have decent bones and run a family food business because I really did feel like leaving the table messy and not tidy up after my children, I even picked up food that my baby dropped on the floor as always and paid the service charge. I’d strongly propose that the owner looks over most of these reviews who have been unhappy with the service and think of some change, this ain’t McDonald’s price’s we’re talking about. We’re paying so much money each time so at least whack a bloody smile on your faces!!

I have eaten there a few times, and the dim sum, fried noodles, and rice noodles have always been consistently good. Each time, I also order half a roast duck. Recently, I ordered half a roast duck again. As soon as it was served, I could tell that the duck wasn't from one single duck but pieced together from different ducks, and there was a lot less of it. I called over the middle-aged man to give him an out and asked if they had cut it wrong. He said it was half a duck. I asked him to piece together half a duck for me to see. He suddenly raised his voice, claiming that he had been in business for over twenty years and would never cheat customers. This time I was unlucky, but there won't be a next time. Anyway, a few dozen dollars for tea won't affect their business.

We buy the same takeaway every other week, so I know how many meat should be in a portion of (Pork belly+Cha siu). Just opened the takeaway box for dinner, there's only half portion in the box. It seemed they charged the price for 2 portions but mistakenly gave me 1 portion in 2 boxes. Phoned the restaurant to let them know this happened, so they can be careful next time as I am not going to drive all the way to Purely. The manager was incredibly rude! Over the past decade I have been to this restaurant far less than I should be. Most East Asians will know what proper dim sum tastes like and this place isn’t great because it’s so dang salty. Service is abysmal too but hey it’s popular with the locals since it’s the only place available. My family went to Tai Tung restaurant to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We had dinned in the restaurant several times before, but we just got to notice the extra bill added. They call it service charge, which they claimed is optional. However, they add the charge automatically without informing unsuspecting customers. We challenged the bill on this occasion, and the treatment we got from the waiters was horrible! The male waiter spoke rudely to us in a loud voice, justifying the bill and cursing under his breath. The female waiter came to remove the table cloth while still sitting at the table. It was such a shame that we hurried away from the restaurant, avoiding any embarrassing incidents and definitely never to be back. The waiters need proper training on their duties. They were both rude and seem to value their service charge more than the food bill, which, according to them, is "optional"?!
