This is definitely more of a pub vibe than a restaurant but don’t let that fool you. Friendly warm welcome by all and the food was seriously good. We had the tureen starter (delicious and full flavoured). The main was succulent and came with a full array of veg, roasties, mash and cauliflower/leek/ broccoli cheese. Traditional puddings with proper portions. Doggy dinners also available. Great spot for us to stop off and we’ll go back for more.

Called in for a carvery. Best one I have had in ages. Choice of 3 meats, beef, turkey and ham ( all cooked beautifully, especially the turkey which was melted in the mouth and so moist ). It cost £8.95 ans a pensioners one cost £5.95 and they were worth every penny. Great selection of veg with roast and mashed potatoes. One small complaint, the Yorkshire's were a little stodgy but the rest of the meal made up for it.

Called into shop for shoes at the station...good service and price....we not thinking of lunch but saw banner saying 'Children and O,A,P, lunches £5.95 so could not resist. Glad we went in as staff lovely and the lunch, being buffet style, you could help yourself. Always seem to pay a lot and get far too much so having a smaller helping appealed to us. The vegetables were well steamed but everything else was super, Good stuffing. Difficult to keep veg crisp and some people don't like them that way anyway, We sat in the conservatory and relaxed over a pint of shandy and will return with family.

We dined at the Tafarn Ty Gwyn one evening on our stay in Gaerwen. We had already stopped at a couple of pubs that weren't serving food that evening and were happy to see this one open for business. Upon seeing the large red dragon on the side of the building, we knew this was the place. We were greeted by the owner and were assured they were indeed serving food that evening. He escorted us to a nice table and we were met with fast, friendly service. The meal was good pub fare, arrived hot and tasty. We felt very much at home and we appreciated all the attention. For a local hangout, they couldn't have treated us more nicely. Diolch!

When I complained about the meat being chewy and not being able to eat it she replied with "oh was it" and turned and walked away! We were all gobsmacked! WORST CARVERY EVER!! Visited today, for a carvery. Served by a lovely woman, went to get our food, the chef seemed very rude. The roast potatoes were very small, the cauliflower was so hard i couldnt eat any of it, spjnach tasted frozen and was vile. Gutted there was no broccoli but thats ok. Carrots and peas, lovely. Gravy was lovely also. Tiny portions of meat. Beef was very nice and tasty. Yorkshire pudding was hard on the bottom. I think there shouldnt be spinnach or hard cauliflower. But should be replaced with broccoli and cabbage. Maybe more meat and bigger roasts and sodt yorkshires. Very disappointed. Although i would give this a second visit, but not happy with this visit today.

Now may I start by saying that I will always give a fair review of any place I visit , as my other efforts will show , I am polite , patient and not hard to please especially in holiday season , so I expected to have a wait for my meal , I had been for a dinner which was acceptable , though a little cool and slow to arrive at another time so when friends asked us here for sunday lunch we decided to go.The service was again slow, my meal took fifteen minutes after the others to arrive so obviously everyone had , had to start when it came , everything looked tasty and i was ready to enjoy it and then in my first forkful of veggies I found slightly melted blue plastic string , We called the waiting staff to let them know , just expecting to get an apology and a change of meal with it given free as is the way of most places we visit when we have seen other tables complain , but she looked at me like I was trying to pull a fast one , evryone stopped eating waiting for my new meal to come or for the manager and staff to stop chatting about it at the bar but it took ten minutes before i was spoken to and then they said i could not get a new meal and i should leave it if I didn,t want the veg with blue bits , at this my friends were finally fed up and did not let this go on , told the staff they were not happy , all our food had gone cold and they were not willing to pay for such service . the rude , manager shrugged angrilly and said it was up to us and we were too awkward to argue with and told us to go if we wanted , we did and as the tale says ...never to be seen again ...sorry guys , but learn some manners and better customer service or what is a lovely place with potentially good meals will keep losing business if you keep acing like this .

10 of us came here on a Sunday for a Carvery, we got in and it was dead and staff were standing around, we asked if they were still serving and they said they were and had enough tables for us, the girls at the bar were nice and polite but the man doing the carvery was extremely rude, whispered things about us as we got our food and told us sarcastically that they shut at 4pm (it was about 3:45) and that people coming in last minute caused them having to rush to cook more food, you'd think they'd be happy to get business, the meat and the gravy was ok but the beef was tiny bit dry, there was no mash, no yorkshire puddings and the veg were like the cheap frozen bags you get on offer, for £6.95 it was really dissapointing, they dont have another menu either so there was no alternative, wouldnt go back there again

I'm going to get straight to the point! Food was AWFUL! There was hardly any choice of the farm foods 3 bags for a £1 frozen vegetables, the roast potatoes were hollow due to overcooking, they were also tiny. Turkey was very wet, I don't mean moist, I mean wet, and seemed like a cheap processed joint, there was hardly any choice of anything. Terrible value for money. We normally eat at the bull hotel in valley that does an absolutely amazing carvery. The bull hotel is great value for money and knocks this place out of the atmosphere! Do yourselves a favour and travel a little further to the bull hotel in valley. I am not a moaner but do believe in giving my honest opinion I would rate ty Gwyn a 0/10, the only reason it's got 1 star on here is because it won't allow me to leave it blank!

I have been to the Ty Gwyn about five or six times but only ever had Sunday carvery. The last time I went the roast beef was just about the best I have ever had. Beautifully pink and tender, just the way it should be. We decided to visit again this week and were curious if the standard would be as high, I can happily say the Beef was spot on again and the rest of the accompaniments were also very well turned out. The only down side to the Ty Gwyn is the building itself, it's well overdue a makeover. This place could be a little gem with a little modernisation.

We were looking for somewhere to take my father for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. I came across the Ty Gwyn on an internet search and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise. Situated in the small village with one of the longest names in Britain, Llanvairpwllgwyngyllgolgerichwyndrobyllantasyliogogogoch (Llanvair P G for short), it is the smaller of the two pubs. It has a warm pleasant atmosphere and advertises a Carvery on Sundays from £5.50 per person. We ordered the food and were shown to a table in the conservatory. The Carvery consisted of a choice of 4 meats:- Beef, Turkey, Gammon and Pork. You could choose one or a mixture of all if you wished. There was a choice of 3 types of potato and 5 types of vegetables, stuffing balls, yorkshire puddings and gravy. The only choice that was limited was the meat and even then (I chose beef and pork) I received 3 generous slices of each meat. My father only chose turkey and received 5 slices. The taste and standard of cooking and service, I can only describe as exellent. I can honestly say that the meal was one of the best Carvery's that I have had in a long time. My heartfelt thanks go to the staff of the Ty Gwyn for a lovely meal. If you are ever on holiday on Anglesey or just in the area and want a really good sunday roast then you can't go far wrong if you pop in and give them a try.John Eaton

My partner and I stopped by here yesterday during a trip to Llanfairpwll and I have to say that it's a lovely little place. We'd definitely visit again. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the cosy atmosphere. Arriving at 2.15pm, we were just in time to order some food (they only serve food until 2.30pm on weekdays - it's all day at weekends though). Despite being towards the end of the lunch time sitting, the staff were happy to accommodate us. I had a lovely baked potato with beans and a fresh salad, whilst my partner had their locally produced burger and chips. It was decent, simple, home made food and we thoroughly enjoyed what we had. The prices were reasonable too, which is always a bonus. It's useful to note that the pub also does cash back, with a 40p charge. This works out much better than the cash machines in the local shops which charge more.

Have been to this clean family run Pub for the Sunday Carvery on several occasions, the meat is of the highest quality and you can help yourself to as much veggies as you like. There is a choice of usually Beef, Turkey, Pork and Ham, you can have a slice of all of them if you want. There is an eating area through the Bar and a large conservatory or if you prefer you can eat in the Bar. This Pub has got entertainment on most nights and also a Cellar Bar which has recently re-opened. A drink outside in the beer garden on a nice day is very refreshing.

Deciding for a bar meal with mates we weren't disapointed with our choices..the gammon steak is huge and succulent, the chicken in leek sauce was very tender and tasty and their chick masala is plentyfull.for those who enjoy sweets, try the sticky toffee pudd or the lemon meringue.* Definatley coming back to try their 'steak night' .*

We had been to the Pub on two occasions previously for Sunday lunch , and had marvelled at the staff's efficiency in serving a large number of customers in quick time to much expressed satisfaction. On those occasions we had enjoyed a rather superb carvery at a very competitive price. This time, it was more of a "I wonder if they're open for food" situation as we arrived quite late and only a couple of days after Christmas. Indeed it was and as we joined the beerdrinkers inside we were offered the full evening menu and a choice of seating, whether in the bar, the dining room, or the covered patio. We ordered leek and potato soup, and also chose the same main dish, namely sausage and mash. Simple, you may say, but what a treat. The soup was thick and flavoursome, and the sausages were really special. No ordinary ones, but renowned Edwards of Conwy best, both spicy and meaty, and served with onion rings on a bed of mash, accompanied by fresh vegetables. In fact, so much food that we deferred from the large assortment of desserts, I saw a comprehensive afternoon tea menu as well. That also looks a treat. So, to sum up, we have a High Street pub providing high quality food through from lunchtime to late evening in a pleasant atmosphere, and I congratulate Brian and Veronica on their efforts. Do remember the village name- the longest in Britain and frequently visited in order to be photographed next to the old railway station sign, that says Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgoger y chwyrndrobwll Llandysiliogogogoch.

Total shambles.. after an hour still no food.. complained and they had given it to someone else! So someone had a free meal while we had to wait another 30 minutes for food. Never again.!

Last time we had fish & chips from here they were very nice but unfortunately tonight's were awful! The fish wasn't too bad but the cone of chips was diabolical, they looked like reheated leftovers & a very small portion indeed. Not good enough considering the price, I was very disappointed!

Nice cafe and patisserie. Lots off lovely cakes, including gluten free options (the lemon meringue pie was delicious). Some seating has views out to the Menai Strait and Snowdonia.

This was an added cruise port on a Sunday and pretty much everything was closed. We stumbled upon The Gleesons Public House and had a few pints and sang some karaoke. The staff was friendly and the beer was cold. They made the day!

Usually food is acceptable today 10 November 2023 I ordered fish and chips and peas chips were good peas acceptable fish was horrible and under cooked batter ok 🎏 fish was hard especially middle part Caffe staff had no interest at all spoken to duty Manager Tom who told me that the store and Caffe are different identity and could not be bothered to do anything for customer satisfaction Very disappointed that Tesco has no appreciation for regular customer to be cared for. Will not eat there never again and I urge people to keep away and dine at Morrisons or Standing Stones nearby where you will get properly cooked food and your custom appreciated.
