Had been looking forward to my visit made specifically to try this place out. Noone else in except the numerous staff all talking away happily to each other. After looking at menu which looked fabulous I went up to order as none of staff looked vaguely interested in taking my order. No sit down we will come to you. I sat and waited and the place started to fill. 3 other tables came in and someone came from behind the counter to clear dirty dishes that had been on a table when I went in. Finally someone came to serve me and I commented on my wait to which I was given a story about the coffee machine not working which was why staff were chatting. Hmmmmn really. Then as of course luck would have it they were out of the very thing I was there to have. I will give them another chance another day as the menu was interesting but the service was shockingly bad especially if they then are having to tell people no coffee! Zero recognition of interaction with customers and I speak as someone with a long hospitality career. Great location great menu but lacking in customer connection.

Visited twice for breakfast when visiting for a wedding for breakfast rolls. It’s not clear on the menu but they can put anything in a roll and even had square sausage which was an extra treat. The tea is loose leaf and the coffees were excellent (so my other half tells me). We even treated ourselves to a big slice of Victoria sponge which was devine. Only downside is once taking your initial order, you won’t have a waitress come to your table again so you have to pop to the kitchen at the back to order more and ask to settle the bill.

We visited T-4-2 this afternoon on a recommendation of a friend. The food was very good, although my baked potato could have been in the oven slightly longer. My partner enjoyed his Mac & cheese, but we were surprised it came with crisps, salad & toast. The waitress was very sweet, but the only problem for me was the unironed tablecloths. The top one was beautifully embroidered& I understand the reason for the glass on the table top, but oh dear - crumpled cloths on every table. Lets hope that the next time I visit that someone has bought the owner an iron!

I was in the local area, and decided to pop in for some lunch before heading off to continue my travels. It was a very busy Saturday afternoon when I came in and upon receiving my food and drink, it was clear to see why. The food was very tasty, and while not many places sell it, T-4-2 does sell Ice tea, which is a must to have, as ice tea is the nectar of the tea gods! It also came in a cute little jug which was a nice touch. The staff were very friendly, and the waitress who served me, a young blonde girl, while it being a very busy in the cafe and she seemed to be doing the majority of the work, was still able to serve with a smile and was very polite and informative, 5 star service!

Had a wee run down to Galashiels this afternoon(12.11.2117) and popped into T 4 2, my husband ordered macaroni & cheese which he says was tasty, a pot of tea for two and I ordered the egg mayonnaise on a baguette which also started out to be tasty.but to my disgust I felt a long hair go down the back of my throat with the other end outside my mouth! I pulled out the hair and as awful as it sounds took another bite. It was at that point I looked inside the baguette and saw another long hair actually within the egg mayonnaise, nope, that was it.i discreetly drew the young girl serving aside and explained that had happened, no apology was offered just would you like something else? No thank you. I waited on my husband finishing his food and even at the point of paying there was still no apology, just a," was everything okay for you?" She was very young though and maybe just inexperienced. The girl who was making the food had long hair hanging loose over the preperation area and when we went outside she was standing in plain sight smoking, yuck, won't be back and it needs a good clean too, check the area above the cake display ladies and clean the cobwebs!

The cakes are all home baked & are delicious, & you get huge slices. The tea is served the traditional way with tea leaves & a strainer in a holder. The tea is in a china teapot & the cups are china cups not mugs. Price are very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. I only had one niggle when we were there, & that was the football was loud on the radio. As it is mostly women in the Tearoom they could do without this & put soft back ground music, or no music on at all so that people can chat to each other. It is the first time I have been in a Tearoom that has football playing on the radio. Maybe it was just a one off. I hope so as the tearoom itself is lovely & so are the delicious cakes.

I love t-4-2 for lunch. They serve lots of tasty food but i especially love their homemade cheesecakes. The only problem is that it is a very small cafe and you sometimes cant get a seat. This is probably because their food is so yummy.

This wee place is just lovely. Everything is homemade and the ladies are so friendly, from a fancy pot of herbal tea, to a drink of juice or full blown lunch; nothing is to much hassle. We recently got married, just a small wedding, T-4-2 kindly done 'high tea' for us. Not only was the food amazing, but they also delivered and everything was ready to serve! No mess, no fuss. There was something for everyone from the kid's to granny and all of my guests commented how lovely it was. I really like this wee place and would give it 6 star's if I could! Keep up the good work and definitely nip in for a blether and a bite to eat. :-)

We visit regular as service great, always made to feel welcome. One day when we visited it was full so we left and a member of staff came running after us down the street as a table had come free! Food delicious and cakes yummy. They have recently opened a second shop doing outside catering which is also excellent and great value. We use regularly through my work and have also been to birthday parties where tea for two have done the catering and it is always yummy.

We discovered this wonderful little tea room by accident while on a visit to Galashiels. Real tea - what a treat!! Two of us had treacle scones and the other had fruit - -all served with butter and jam and very reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly and service was excellent. Next time, we'll be back at lunchtime for a very reasonably priced soup and sandwich or even stovies!

This is a must stop when we holiday in Galashiels. Variety of the menu, all freshly cooked, warm tasty food. The cakes are sublime and don't get me started on the meringues. A multitude of teas to choose from basic breakfast to herbal infusions. Free WIFI the staff are lovely. My sons do not think a holiday is complete without a visit here.

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.

Overpriced very bland food. Had to throw lots of salt on everything just so it was edible. The mac n cheese was the worst as it seemed to be just boiled pasta ..very watery and overcooked broccoli and NO CHEESE SAUCE JUST HOT WATER. And £12 i must add which is shocking..ps the calazone was ok but still shocking what you get for £14..overall will never eat out off here again.

Went for Xmas lunch today as party of 8. Food was amazing, great portion sizes and price was so good. Our elderly lady took ill and the staff were fantastic, so caring. Waitress stayed with her in bathroom so we could all eat our meal. Even helping with her coat and tucking her scarf in as it was cold outside. Exactly the way you would treat your own mum. Staff are an asset to the tavern. Will definitely return

I have stayed here on numerous occasions recently due to work commitments. Both Curt & Susie are fabulous hosts & I can not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are modern, comfortable & clean. The honesty bar is amazing & comfortable to chill in, along with the turntables playing vinyl which I loved. I want to keep it all to myself so I can stay when I want , but that would be selfish of me. Congratulations to this lovely family running an amazing hotel where they are nothing but kind , courteous & look after their guests. Best hotel I have ever stayed in & can't wait to visit again in 2025 & catch up.
