At over 70, I have had more than my fair share of takeaways, but never what I experienced last night, Late, Cold Greasy, and all 5 meals inedible Never have a I tasted anything like it !!!!

We had sweet and sour pork cantanses style pork was very chewy and uneatable. I definitely won't be using this Chinese again.

Very selective took our order on a Monday which was lovely but refused order on a Saturday as to far away. Won't ever order from them again

Horrible food ! I ordered - or thought I was ordering Lemon Chicken in Honey Chilli sauce ! the sauce was just a boiled sugary syrup ! NO honey and not even the slightest hint of Chilli, it was vile the chicken itself was only just OK, but the sauce totally inedible - I also ordered from their "Hors D'oeuvres" (odd to have Chinese starters using a French term ! ?) Crispy Chicken Parcels - this is basically odd shapes of deep fried Filo pieces - NOT parcels, BUT, they contained NO chicken ! NONE what-so-ever ! also totally inedible ! I called them to bring this to their attention, having been a regular customer at SWS for quite a few years and sometimes more than once per week - although we haven't use them for quite some time , I mentioned that the Honey Chilli sauce was basically a boiled sugary syrup and had NO honey or chilli taste, and that the so-called chicken parcels had NO chicken, the woman I spoke with, spoke to the chef who said that's how it's meant to be ? !! I said surely not as it was vile and there was no chicken in the deep fried filo ! as a regular customer I asked for a credit, she again spoke with the chef, and came back and said I will most definitely get NO credit ! It is my view that there has been changes, big changes at SWS probably a new / different chef or and management and service and the food have suffered - badly ! And not only that, the driver got lost and couldnt find our house and had to call us for directions ! Please take my advice and AVOID AVOID AVOID ! there's plenty Chinese takeaways, use one of them instead 🤬👎

This place is consistently good. Food was delicious, absolutely no complaints whatsoever, the price is very reasonable, my favourite Chinese in the city.

I got home on a Monday night, kind of annoyed after a really rough day at the office - you know how it is - and all I found myself wanting was a little too much chicken friend rice (bad for the hips, good on the lips). I order slightly too much food (not going to lie I'm a bit of an over-eater when it comes to chinese) and absoluetly go ham on it . The texture was amazing - the taste something else and don't even get me started on the food!!!! The stage were also so so so lovely - the person who answered my phone call (in my dire time of need) nd the driver who managed bring me just what I needed! Would order again, 11/10 (would give 18 stars if i could) - hope you ladies with your hunger for chinese order here too! Happy eating!!!! (p.s. you men can have a good time with some chinese too!!!)

Tried this restaurant for a takeaway meal consisting of three dishes to be delivered. Food was delivered and was bland and uninspiring. Glutenous sauces which did nothing to raise the apetite and overall not a good impression. Must try harder.

We ordered our Chinese at 8pm and it arrived 3 hours later at 11pm. After waiting 2 hours we called and no help was given we were only told that it would be 10 minutes till our food arrived, and as yet again waited another hour. Extremely disappointing, food was cold and will not be returning.

Lovely food chicken chi main was excellent something for everyone defo be ordering again prawn cracker were good too and free

Not used this place in a while(Back in the early days of opening the food was great but the guy upfront serving and taking calls was a really rude person,hes not there now so that's an improvement so i thought!) so i thought when passing tonight at the beginning of there service i would be in for a fresh takeaway treat!!! i wish! i ordered and 3 orders after me were done and the customers were out the door!? My dish was a "Chicken Maryland" it was taking ages and there phone was going non stop put me to thinking the place is still a good place for food as it turned out all the calls were asking where's our food and wrong orders had been delivered all on the best night of the week for any takeaway joint,anyway i get my takeaway get home and dish it up everything burnt the chicken was so tough i felt i was on a workout in the gym! it was all string like when taken apart no taste just a well over done piece of chicken and i thought how come as child could cook a chicken breast then penny dropped on why it took so long they defrosted it then cooked it as i was waiting,i hope the place closes down in the near future as this garbage food served should be on crime watch.

I have just spent £5:10p on a tub of tasteless rice with 6 prawns in it and minuscule shavings of something pink, might have been ham? I ordered at the counter and by the time I had walked to the bench and sat down (about 10 feet) my meal was ready. I doubt the Yang Chow ever saw a Wok, no fresh fried taste, rice hard, prawns chewy and all tasteless. I won't be back. I have no idea why so many people rave about this place? Maybe next to McDonalds they think this fine dining?

Cancelled order with no reason. Left me at 12pm with takeaway closed so couldn't even phone to ask why. Terrible service. I would recommend under NO CIRCUMSTANCES!!! eating here.

The order was late and what we ordered was not what we got. Has put me off eating Chinese food full stop. Even the prawn cracker were rubbish.

Sorry folks I can not understand why so many people like this , first time ive ordered from here and it will be the last , had special curry and fried rice , I have never before had a curry with so much frozen food in it carrots crinkle cut frozen, peas frozen , onions fresh, meat chicken frozen and the rest of the meat well who knows I suspect that's frozen too shame full , delivery was quick and driver very nice

First time eating out in this place, food very good standard with rich sauce. Delivery time was fast. Driver is well polite. Overall a very pleasant experience. Will be back again and keep up the good work guys.

Que mal mi pedido; a pesar de que aclarar por teléfono dos veces. No dio un calendario o avisar de cualquier retraso, así que cuando no llega puntual les llamé y me dijeron que había sido ocupado y que estaba en su camino. Tuve que llamar de nuevo y amenazan con cancelar la orden. Finalmente llegó una hora después de haberlo pedido. No sólo les dieron la orden un poco mal, pero también era muy grasienta y no agradable! La mayoría de terminó en la papelera. No orden de ellos.

He estado chino tome escapadas del SWS durante años y nunca decepciona! Su barbacoa costillas están parpadeando maravilloso.

¡Por Dios! La comida de aquí es malo. Y la comida que te mandan no es lo que pides. Después de 12 horas que aún no estaba dispuesto a estómago la bandeja de restos nos trajeron.

He estado utilizando SWS por un número de años y generalmente ha sido bien. Solía ser bastante bueno, pero en los últimos 5 años el nivel de comida ha sido un poco impredecible, pero el servicio es muy rápido así que si tienes prisa no hay nadie más rápido. Esta tarde se han superado en sí. Pedí cerdo dulce y amarga, y cuando yo tenía finos de esta comida, pensé que no sabía nada de nada y la textura era extraño. Entonces me sentí mi garganta empezando a picar volví la luz principal para ver lo que estaba comiendo. Era como me temía, gambas rellenas. Tengo una alergia a los crustáceos de ahí la picazón. Han traído algunos en el lavabo, y la búsqueda de medicamentos, mi compañero llamaron a volver a explicar lo sucedido. En vez de devolver el importe sobrante que iban a enviar un nuevo orden. Cuando nos dieron la comida de reemplazo, mi compañero registrado la comida y tenían extraordinariamente logró enviar langostino de NUEVO!!! Nos pusimos en contacto con ellos, de nuevo y esta vez no devolvernos el dinero, pero esto era prácticamente la guinda para una comida para llevar que tiene sus mejores días bien y verdaderamente detrás de ellas.

This takeaway was closed down by the health department and is now reopened after much work and cleaning The meals are not the best around and service is slow

Whenever I order Chinese takeaway it's always from this takeaway good food, good quick service. Good portion sizes to. Never any complaints.

If you're looking for a good chinese takeaway you'll be hard pushed to find a better one than SWS.The quality (and quantity) of their food is very good and their delivery service is excellent. The food is always hot when it arrives.

Had a bad experience with my usual Chinese takeaway recently so decided to try SWS. I have used SWS in the past and had no complaints however on this occassion it was really disappointing. The chilli beef looked like rubbery worms, a gloopy mess and the lemon chicken was was not much beter. The batter on the chicken was sliding off, so maybe a better idea when delivering to serve the sauce seperately. Maybe this was a bad night as generally SWS have a good name in the west of Edinburgh.

I have been a customer of sws for many years now and have never been let down,great food,great service.

Yet to find a better takeaway in Edinburgh! Great food cooked fresh and delivered promptly. Love the fact that there is a consistancy with their dishes from one visit to the next. One of the best Hot & Sours soups I have tasted.

The best Chinese Takeaway in Edinburgh. Super quick delivery, sensible pricing and brilliant food. I reccomend the Sweet & Sour Chicken Cantonese Style. Bon Apetit!

We have used here on many occasions and have always had reasonable quality food but are a bit confused as it arrives usually within 15 minutes, and it`s a good 7 or 8 minute drive from us to the restaraunt.Get the feeling that the food may be pre cooked and re heated. May be wrong but just seems a bit quick. Food has never been the most amazing i`ve ever had, but has always been good.

quickest home delivery i have ever had. ordered and it was at my door in an incredible time. food was not bad also.

We've lived here for almost 19 years and have used SWS regularly so they've had plenty of chances to let us down. They never have! Service is first class, fast and efficient. Prices are competitive. But it's the quality of the food that does it. The only place that can stand alongside SWS at Stenhouse Cross is SWS at Prestonpans and I'm not sure even they can equal our local Stenhouse SWS!

I have had dozens of takeaways from here and i will tell you something... its quite possibly one of the best chinese takeaways in edinburgh. They have a vast menu that ranges from your simple curry all the way too steaks and whiskys that can be ordered. i love it and whenever im wanting a chinese i look no further.
