Great food, lovely staff. Will go again

I’ve never had a bad or disappointing visit to the swan. I love the atmosphere and the sound of dogs is great. Sometimes we bring our dog.

Have to ask first why is every table reserved and yet no customers turn up, it’s like sectioning off tables because staff are lazy and don’t want to serve people, I observed customers walking in to an empty pub with reserved tables and walking out Staff sitting around one table like it’s an office in the middle of the bar area. It’s the only large bar table yet there will be one chef sitting there or the managers laptop like it’s his office Miserable staff with a huge lack of knowledge Very disappointed with this pub

Cannot knock the staff as they were superb, however, I got the impression they were stretched and overworked. In between serving customers they were tirelessly tidying and wiping down tables and other surfaces. What let it down was the cleanliness of cutlery and the container it was served in and what appeared to be ink on the plate which I only noticed after eating most of the meal and left me feeling pretty disgusted. As for the quality of food (cleanliness aside) it was well presented but wasn't anything special. We went for the battered fish and it was pretty tasteless and mainly batter.

EDIT: nice to see the owner has replied to this issue with a full stop, instead of making contact to ask for further details. Says it all really. ORIGINAL POST: Used to visit this pub pretty much every week, however, last time we visited here we got verbal abuse from another customer as we were innocently walking to our table. This happened infront of two of the staff members (both women) they both turned a blind eye and actually continued to laugh and joke with this customer, when really this customer should have been asked to leave! Will not be returning to any establishment who condones such behaviour and would rather support other local pubs where you actually feel safe.

Having booked a dog friendly meal on Saturday because we cant leave the dog at home she pines we wondered how we would fair well worry not the whole of the visit went extremely well a member of staff showed us to our allotted table another member of staff brought a bowl of water for the dog we chose our meal which was soon ready and delivered to out table we were so impressed with how the meals were laid out and the flavour was delightful we cant praise the Swan highly enough and would recommend the Swan to all who want a pleasant evening out with delightful food and very friendly staff we will definately be returning in the near future 10/10 for sure

Lovely place and staff. Veggie menu a bit poor. Most veggies don't want fancy, exotic food. Simple foods. Ie jacket potatoes and salad. Perfect. You do Mac and cheese, but it comes with meat. Why is there not a meat free option on the menu?

Visited this pub today for the first time and what a lovely place to visit! The food was outstanding—freshly cooked and really tasty. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was very family-friendly. There’s also a lovely beer garden with a children’s play area. Highly recommend, and we will be returning!

We're local to the Swan and have visited several times. Usually we have great food and really friendly service. Particularly the male general manager and the lovely Scottish lady always make it a great experience, warm and welcome atmosphere. Unfortunately on this occasion the service was poor as were the desserts. The brownie really was a lump of sloppy.mess. We decided to feedback to the young waitress that we were disappointed. She apologised but said the managers says "there is nothing she will do and that's how it is. " I asked to speak to the manager and discovered this was a female manager who served is earlier in the evening. Unfortunately she was the most rude and miserable person in Bromsgrove that day. I've never come across someone so unpleasant and grumpy in a customer service role before. Her attitude and manner had a lot to be desired., she certainly doesnt seem to understand her industry and the importance of customer service. She exclaimed how she had been back and forth all evening bringing us food and drink. Slightly bemused but usually in a nice pub table service is provided and this isn't an "above and beyond" service which she claimed it to be. Unfortunately, the lady manager made what should have been a nice evening and experience an unpleasant one . She also really lacked respect for how she spoke to her colleagues in front of customers. It's a shame as this was a precursor to coming for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary but this experience has put us off. Please bring back your usuall team and review the substandard quality of the desserts.

Lovely pub and lots of friendly dogs too 😁

The Swan is a lovely pub in a great location. The food is lovely we have been many times in the past and always enjoyed the food. Our son enjoys the play area and it's a nice place to relax and eat. We have on most occasions had good service at the Swan however, we visited yesterday and the service was not up to standard. It was a very warm day, I had booked well in advance but we were not asked if we would have liked to sit outside but were seated inside. It was very warm and when we asked if a window could be opened we were told the windows do not open. I can understand this from it being an old building however, when its that hot I'm sure some fans or air cooling should be implemented. The staff member did not say anything just turned their back and couldn't of cared less. We also had to wait half an hour for drinks. It wasn't over busy so not sure on why this was. Overall, it wasn't the best experience we have had.

Such a rude manager (or someone that thought she was the manager) We booked a table roughly half an hour before arriving. When we got there the manager said they couldn't accommodate a group of 5 and that there were only seats in the garden to which we said great, we'll sit out there. She replied with 'well it will be a 45 minute wait for food' and walked off leaving a junior member of staff to sort something. Cant believe you can book a table then be told theres no table, then have someone speak to us in such a rude way. She was clearly not interested in our business or giving any type of customer service. Hint: don't give out vouchers inviting people to your pub if you're going to treat them like that. You have lost a customer.

Excellent visit to these premises. Made to feel very welcome as soon as I stepped through the doors. Service was exceptional and the food was superb. Will definitely be returning soon

Went here for lunch with family and our dog so sat in the dog friendly area, which is perfect for us! Food is absolutely delicious, so impressed with everything. Staff are lovely and friendly. This pub is highly recommended to our friends and family.

we arrived and had mixed up our booking with another SWAN but staff were very polite and pleasant and found a way to accommodate us straight away. Food was very good and staff were excellent.

It was a very nice meal. We aren't that local but I can see us coming back as the environment suits me much more than the places local to us. Service was very good. Nice and quick as was our meal Service too.

Second time we've visited recently for a special occasion and no steaks available yesterday 13th may, only gammon, apparently the establishment was waiting for a delivery, so we had to order an alternative main to what we had planned, would have gone elsewhere to eat if we were told in advance, could not recommend to a friend due to the uncertainty of menu availability

Lovely little pub. Great atmosphere, great food. Nice selection of non alcoholic beverages.

Ambient lunchtime atmosphere. Mostly elderly people dining. Good food. Fresh produce and particularly nice vegetarian sausages . Reasonable priced menu. Service pleasant but sluggish. Chairs were scruffy. But nice layout and outside seating looked inviting ( too cold for us on the day though to venture out)

Such a lovely place to go when the sun shines. We sat outside until our table was ready and then had a lovely meal. So nice to have a proper pie, not one which is in a pot with a pastry lid! I would recommend booking in advance if you do want to eat, even so, we didn't manage to sit until 8pm and by then we were starving 🤣

My visit to this Pub. It was nice to see friendly and helpful staff, good choices of drinks and I opted for a gammon meal which was lovely. Their we're other meals coming out which were excellent, will definitely call back again.

Had a lovely Sunday Lunch for our sister's Birthday, food was excellent, an extra special mention for Meagan, her kindness was appreciated more than I can express, her cheerful service made our day.

It was a very nice bar and restaurant, it was busy but not noisy. The food was cooked well and the menu was varied enough. My only criticism would be that we were left waiting at our table for a long time for our order to be taken. In the end I went to the bar to place the order, but this is just a minor niggle and the rest of the service was very good.

This is one of our goto places when meeting up with family for a bite to eat. There is always a good drinks selection, and the menu is varied and full of wonderful choices. We're usually served by the wonderful Scottish lady who is always very welcoming and knowledgeable about the dishes on offer.

The setting and the food were incredible. Could not fault it. We were disappointed with the two servers running around trying to tidy up, cover the bar, seat and serve guests. The extra special bits of checking in and making sure everything was ok lacked as they were in their heads thinking what do I need to do next. A smile would have gone a long way. I felt sorry for them.

Great pub. Plugged in and charged my car whilst I grabbed a quick lunch. The staff and service are great!

A birthday celebration meal for 6 at 2pm on a Sunday. I've eaten here on previous occasions and have always enjoyed the fare on offer. There's a nice casual vibe to the place and the staff are great too. We ordered starters of cauliflower wings or halloumi fries, all went down a treat. Sunday roasts followed; turkey or pork. I chose the fried chicken breast. All good. Puds followed for 3 of our party; sticky toffee pud for one and a gloriously over the top chocolate sundae type thing for the other 2. All eagerly devoured. I'd thrown the dietary towel in by then. Only 2 quibbles; 1) the dining knives could be sharper and 2) the roast spuds/ Yorkshire's were a tad rubbery, but this is probably connected to 1. Apart from that, all good. A decent selection of ales too. I'll be back.

Food was excellent and service. The only thing was the butter for the prawn cocktail was solid and could not spread it.

I must admit I only came initially because Fairfield is my last name so we decided to come on a date night. Food and service were excellent with good sized portions delivered promptly. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the bill was a lot less than I expected. We will definitely return and have recommended you to everyone we know.

Not great on entering, waitress seemed a bit put out on showing me to a table! Ordered 2 x Signature Burgers , didn’t have any caramelised red chutney which detracted somewhat from the “signature” element. At £16 odd each, truly didn’t feel value for money. It’s a no for a return visit ☹️

Food was over cooked! Steak, fish, chips, halloumi, the entire thing. Service was very slow and the place was empty!

Staff were friendly. The pub was well decorated. We went for the Sunday lunch, although most of the meal was fresh, the meat provided was of poor quality. Not from a fresh roast but looked liked it was brought in and cooked to order which is disappointing for the price.

Regularly go to the Swan with my wife/family. It’s dog friendly (which we love) and regularly get approached by friendly hounds looking for a fuss. Food is great, service is faultless and a nice atmosphere for a quiet establishment.

On my first visit l felt it was a very comfortable atmosphere cosy and relaxing. we then ordered our food and was immediately impressed with both the speed and the presentation which was quickly followed be the quality and taste of the meal from start to finish. We had a 3 course mothers day meal - we all thought the food was outstanding. The service was very good as well. The waitresses worked so hard. Good value for money. I will definitely come back again soon.

I am a 73, year old male.we were a party of 3 for mother's Day. I was a Butcher and a pub/restaurant licencee for over 50 years. Knowing the business, I do give a bit of leeway, because it's very difficult to always get it right,.However both the Sirloins were no way 8oz before cooked, they were tiny, and taste less, no flavour. The chorizo macaroni was also pretty Tasteless,, does the kitchen not have any herbs and spices? . I usually enjoy a Lager shandy, but even that, had very little Lemonade in it, I might as well have just asked for a pint of Lager. We were so disappointed, we didn't stay for sweets or coffee. We went home. I Didn't complain, because I didn't want to spoil our evening out any more.

We went for a lovely family lunch to celebrate Mother’s Day, a day earlier. The staff were very welcoming and offered to bring flowers to the table and made a lovely fuss especially over the older grand mothers. The service was excellent and the menu choice was very good. Despite having run out of Sea Bass they were quick to offer a Cod alternative. Staff were also very knowledgeable about nut allergy foods for my son. Nearly all of the dishes were well cooked and presented. The only improvement I would suggest would be to the Halloumi and red pepper kebabs which were unfortunately very overcooked and therefore dry and difficult to cut and eat. This was a real pity because the whole family otherwise had an enjoyable, pleasant and happy experience.

Wow, I stumbled across this pub and what a gem, serving a roast dinner on a Sunday it was booked out in the main area but was welcomed to grab a table round the bar to order food. Food was served in good time, staff was polite and experience for all ages was great. Dogs are welcome and there was games/activities for children to keep busy.

Parking good, pre booking recommended, went with friends, food served, efficiently and politely. Good quality, only down side on our visit was they had run out of a number of dishes by 6.30pm.
