Really great spot for a bite to eat or relaxed drink. The vegan food is incredible… the chef really knows how to cater to dietary needs. Apple and chicory risotto as a starter, followed by a mushroom bourguignon pie… and a cheesecake for dessert (all vegan, all great size portions and all delicious!). Really happy every time I visit. The staff are really friendly and attentive. Sadly they don’t do cocktails, other than the specific five they list. Shame they can’t add a few classics, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Martini. I think that would elevate the whole thing up another notch. Anyway, I highly recommend.

I have been to Sutton Hall a few times and ever time has been a delightful experience, I am vegan and there is a few options for me to eat and they are delicious. Every member of staff are very accommodating especially with the needs of our little baby. I would like to say a special thank you to Neve who has alway gone out their way to be as helpful as possible.

Been coming here for 10 years and it's always been decent. The kids chicken was so salty it was indeble. The beef bourgion was truly awful. Used chicken gravy as the sauce...we got a spoonful..Feather blade was so dry....absolutely terrible meal. No argument by the staff on removing the meals from the bill. Never again...

Stately home of Lord Lucan with plenty of nooks and crannies to hide in and expansive grounds. Now a pub with excellent food and drink. Always a delight - except at my last visit when I was appalled to see they had erected an enormous oppressive canopy in the rear courtyard with huge flames from outside gas fired heaters continuously warming up the planet despite nobody being sat there. Displaying that you don't care about pointlessly burning fossil fuels does not set a good environmental example especially when there's nobody sat outside because anyone with any sense on a cold day would be sat inside keeping warm. Turn it off and get rid of it!

Big shout out to the staff at Sutton Hall!! ,myself and two friends had been on an extended walk, beautiful day and we ended up at Sutton Hall for drinks when my diabetic alarm went off unexpectedly , the manager and young girl behind the bar were so nice they gave me bread and jam to help raise my sugars which it did along with the two glasses of fresh orange juice i had bought earlier. Despite making notes of 2 high chairs required for the booking. We turned up to find there weren't any left. We tried to go elsewhere but it was too late. We weren't able to eat and had to wait for high chairs. We got one, fed one baby then my mums food was cold cause she couldn't eat. I rushed my food so I could take a baby from her so she could eat her cold food. You need to communicate with your customers. We were regular customers but we won't be back now. Really disappointed. Paid £140 to be wound up. Had we been called/warned we could have done something about it. Manager said that they have 7 seats and give them out until they run out and that not everyone makes a note on the booking. But we had. Unacceptable response, suggest you train managers on customer service. Also get more than 7 high chairs for a restaurant of your size. Evidently not enough. Better customer service in a supermarket cafe.

I'm giving 5 stars with a but, I ordered the chicken breast with sautéed gnocchi, with the grilled little gem and mint oil I thought it would be a great dish to complement the heat today! It truly was on its 3rd attempt, unfortunately the first time it was sent to our table it was covered in beef gravy which completely ruined the dish, i unfortunately had to go and find some waiting staff who after reading the menu told me its meant to come with gravy... an italian insprired chicken dish doesn't tend to come with beef gravy but changed it anyway after a short wait we received them again however aswell as no gravy half of the dish wasn't there, we did point this out but she ran off and ignored us... saving grace is the Spanish FOH guy (sorry that we shouted you over but you seem to be the only one doing anything), what a legend he brought the dishes back and correct in the blink of an eye, excellent and well thought out dish that came together beautifully in the end. Definitely worth a visit, there was a function on and apparently its a new dish, maybe we just had a bad experience

We were seated at the front of the restaurant, The toilets were at the back My walking isn't great, and the last thing I wanted to do is to walk a long way to the toilet So if you are infirm or elderly maybe ask to be nearer those toilets and park at the back of the property

My friends recommended Sutton Hall… It was a birthday treat . Beautiful venue, sadly pricey mediocre food at best.- Asparagus- 4 spears, overcooked dry ‘poached egg’ thrown on the plate …come on guys!!! We ordered Nut Roast for main course …. Mmmnnnnn still not sure what we ate though granted we did eat the sloppy, tasteless mush as we’d completed a super long walk and we were hungry. I think they were Hasselback potatoes, small and dry x 3, some sort of greens and packet vegan gravy. ( a crime scene ). Clearly the chef has NEVER eaten this dish, hates nut roast and the guests who order it. The beautiful venue does the ‘heavy lifting’ shame about the low quantity expensive food. Thanks but no thanks .

Mmmm... not sure about this place and yet its popular. My visit is from the perspective of a single elderly man who decided to 'drop in' off the street. I was greeted not with 'hello, 'good afternoon as I would have expected but 'do you have any food allergies which seemed to be the stock phrase of welcome. I wondered perhaps if it was a clinic. I explained that I had come for a meal, where might I sit. The young lady scanned her laptop and pointed to a table next to a public doorway, the table was adjacent to a radiator which was on full blast. I told the waitress it was too hot and was unsure that I wanted public and staff coming and going past as I ate. She had decided to continue a discussion with a noisy male staff member who suggested I should turn the radiator down. I then became invisible as they continued their discussion. So annoying! I moved elsewhere. I found another table near a window overlooking a garden. I was told that a lady with 3 dogs had reserved it (no sign). The waiter moved me about 6ft nearby to a table for six, at last. I ordered Appleby cheese pie with sauce and a tangle of greens which was ok. The menu is varied, a long wine list for those who enjoy wine. The venue is an Old Hall and stylish with a variety of rooms. In the larger rooms any atmosphere is lost. On my visit (Wednesday 2pm) the clientelle was elderley. The prices start around £17 for mains. I had a beer at about a fiver. Plenty of parking, I understand it is busy at the weekend and good for family groups. I won't go again, it's not for me, and indifferent treatment by staff won't entice me.

Thought the value was great considering the menfolk enjoyed a good few drinks too! We could see from carpark and round bar area it was very busy but we weren't rushed and the layout for dining being so vast made it feel that it wasn't a full as it actually was. Visited today with my partner and his grandma and it exceeded our expectations. Was the nicest roast dinner I have had anywhere in months. The service, atmosphere, ambience and especially the food were of the highest standard. The portions were good, the quality of the meat and the attention to detail from our waiter and in all elements of the food were spot on. The house wines were a French Sauvignon and a Nero D’avola. The cherry sorbet and the champagne sorbet came with a fresh mint sprig. The building itself is very charming with its older black and white features and wide fireplaces. What a perfect place for a Sunday lunch.

We found this by accident on holiday from Minnesota a number of years ago. On our next holiday this was a destination spot again. Very welcomed being strangers and left feeling like family. Stayed at farm b&b couple miles away. Also marvelous. Hope it will open again. We are planning one more U.K. visit and this is on our list!!!
