Sushi Garden - London in Lewisham

The sushi menu is creative with lots of interesting options. We had spicy tuna rolls and Tiger rolls (salmon, crab and avocado with crispy shallots) along with some excellent nigiri, miso soup and vegetable tempura. All of which was beautifully presented and very tasty. Excellent chocolate mousse for dessert too. Attentive and friendly staff. The music would not be my choice for this establishment but that’s a matter of preference!

This place has been sliding for a while, used to be run by a lovely Italian man that was always so hospitable. Now the staff are dismissive ungrateful and can make the sit in experience pretty awful if you make the mistake of going there for the atmosphere. Expect the new manager to be abrasive and dismissive. Also they are not above arguing with suppliers on the phone within ear shot when you sit in for a meal. Or making you wait while they have a long chat on the phone when you pop in for lunch. This particular time I ordered a takeaway collection expecting the usual -10% off for being bothered to save them on delivery costs and pick it up. (Also because delivery can take so long usually) Apparently if you use the app you can collect points, but they no longer do this offer for collection so two ramen will set you back £28 which is a little steep in comparison to other local takeaways in the surrounding area. Obviously he could have given a curtesy discount to returning custom to encourage custom, but decided as usual to say in his usual dismissive style we don’t do that any more. Then I get home with one of their flyers in the bag saying have -10% off your first order via our app. So obviously I’m the fool for ringing in the order, but this wasn’t mentioned during my exchange. I usually order direct rather then using a third party delivery app that take huge % of the cost for the business. But you’d think they’d try and encourage people to order directly and feel valued. Honestly I think he hates his job! The food is decent but not incredible, you’d at least think they would be more accommodating for repeated customers when your resturant is empty. But honestly that is just how the new staff roll, I might check back another time if they have found a more suitable job for their front of house or got a new one. Been one two many disappointing meals of recent.

We had a lovely family meal, myself and 2 children aged 8 and 10, who loved the children’s tempura fish fingers and chicken katsu. The salmon nigiri and tempura prawns were delicious, as were the deserts. Very good and friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere on an early Saturday evening

Got a takeaway from sushi garden and the food was absolutely delicious. It was ready in 25 mins and the food was still warm when we got home. We ordered a variety of different sides including vegetable sushi, gyozas, and tempura vegetables which are all lovely. They also gave us loads of different sauces. My main was the vegetable Katsu curry which was so tasty with a great portion size. I would highly recommend sushi garden for vegetarians!

Problem with take away delivery, it was my fault as I gave wrong phone number. However the man I spoke to was very lacking in basic manners. We won’t be ordering from here again. Shame as the food is good.

First class super fresh sushi, top quality from a lovely local business, the hot rolls are sublime. I have eaten in there and had several take aways, absolutely delicious every time.

We had a very nice meal in Sushi Garden for a birthday. The food was excellent as was the service. We felt comfortable al evening, there was no pressure at any point, and we were able to try many sections of the menu - all of which were very nice. The price was also very reasonable. The service was attentive without being pushy. The dishes were very well presented and this is an excellent addition to Forest Hill. We will certainly go back, and I would happily recommend it.

The restaurant appears to be family friendly, with a kids menu, colouring pencils etc. However, I would avoid like the plague if you have young children. The staff were extremely hostile and made it clear they did not want us and our children there. When I asked if there was any problem, the owner was unbelievably rude, complaining about our children talking, using the toilet, not wearing ‘normal’ clothes (my 4 year old had a fairy dress on) and basically just existing. He was so rude that other customers and the delivery driver who was picking up at the time commented on how completely out of order he was. We eat in various cafes/restaurants locally with our kids and have never encountered anything like this before. It/he was horrible and I wouldn’t want other families/kids to have to experience this.

Rude staff , bad service. Our drinks which were ordered first came after we finished our main course. Food also was average though it looked good. I have tried sushi samba in Dubai and it’s amazing as compared to London. In all bad experience.

A big thank you to Sushi Garden for providing birthday desserts for my daughter's Japanese themed birthday. The Yuzu Cheesecake and Lemon Dorayaki Pancakes were so nice and fresh, and the attention to detail with the floral decorations was beautiful. Thank you again for making her birthday, special

We ordered dinner for home and had a variety of food from noodles, sushi, dumplings and edamame to katsu. All pretty good. Prawn noodles was short of prawns and a dish was missing (refunded quickly enough). Will maybe try eating there too.

This place is wonderful. Eat and order from here way more than I should as just so good - Amazing dishes. wouldn’t be out of place if it popped up in soho. So lucky to have it locally.

my friend and i found a little sushi restaurant in forest hill @sushi garden and decided to try it for a sunday lunch. best decision ever! we were greeted with a lovely, warm welcome and we received excellent service. the lovely front of house staff, Chitra, was very friendly and attentive, she gave us great recommendations and 5 star service. the food was very fresh and tasty, the fried squid and california roll sushi was delicious. can't wait to go back and try some of the other mouth-watering items!

Sushi Garden London. Run by two passionate Italians. Good quality sushi. Fresh & great variety. Able to cater for gluten free without a problem. If you’re not sure what to try, we would recommend one of the sharing platters.

Not only the best restaurant in Forest Hill but their sushi really does rival some of the top Japanese restaurants in London. We have dined here many times and it just gets better every time! Would 100 percent recommend.
