Surfside is our favorite hang out place. We go there most days for coffee and their delicious tea cake and egg buns. I always take friends when they visit from America!! The staff are beyond lovely and the owners are wonderful. Don’t miss this place!!

I ordered 2 Ham sandwiches and a regular coffee. Firstly the coffee though tasty was very small, just off being an Espresso. The ham sandwiches were just ham in white bread. The butter didn't cover the bread and the filling was 1/3 fat. No garnish, no finesse just plain and at a cost of £14.10 I would have hoped for better. Though I brought these points to the manager, I got a sorry. Only card purchases no cash, I asked what would happen if the card service stopped work, I was told they would shut until it was fixed, no one can count without technology these days. The only thing pleasant besides a nice tasting coffee (though small NOT regular sorry) was the sea view. I have been a chef for many years and was very unimpressed. I won't go there again. My advice, take your own food.

The women working at the Caswell Bay Surfside cafe are unfriendly to the point of being rude. The fare is overpriced at £2:80 for a weak Americano. The provision for vegetarians/vegans is limited. The only thing going for this place is the fantastic view over the bay. This place could be amazing but instead the unpleasant staff and gastro prices for a greasy spoon menu make this a place best avoided.

We were looking forward to breakfast here having read good reviews on trip advisor. Unfortunately the food was very average - poorly cooked bacon and eggs with miserly portions for the money. A flipped egg so badly maimed, it was virtually non existent. Cooked tomatoes were cold. Cutlery was not clean. Toast ordered with marmalade was served without marmalade ....I had to get up and ask for it and so the toast was then cold ...And when I got back to the table I realized she’d given me honey instead of marmalade. I had ordered extra hot coffees which took ages and the entrance was very congested so I sat down to get out of the way and waited. I went up a number of times to see if they were ready and they were not. Eventually I asked and was grumpily told they’d been made ages ago and “if you’d just stayed and waited” then I’d have realized. I explained that I HAD waited, had also been twice to see if they were ready etc... the young guy making the coffees decided to stand there and argue the toss with me in front of other customers, which is not only bad for business but the height of bad manners. If I want to be served poorly cooked cold bacon and eggs by teenagers with bad attitudes, then I can stay home! I suggest this cafe employs some more experienced staff to supervise the kids. I give it two stars because at least it’s a pretty location.

I ordered a mug of tea and a toasted teacake. I specifically requested that the tea and the teacake come together. Drinks are collected separately at the counter, so when my tea order was called I picked it up thinking my tea cake would follow shortly. It took another fifteen minutes. I started sipping my tea after a few minutes, still hoping tea cake would appear soon. Obviously my choice was to continue drinking or let it go cold. When teacake finally appeared I complained to the waiter. He asked me what I wanted him to do and I said, "Bring me a fresh mug of tea, please." He said that I would have to pay for it. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that because I hadn't sent the tea back immediately, I would have to pay for a new one. I repeated that I had thought the teacake was on its way, given the specific request I had made to have the two together. This kind of meanness creates a very poor impression - how much would a teabag have cost them in order to have a satisfied customer? The location is great but the service is desultory and the Surfside monopoly of the beach cafes in this area is making them complacent.

£5.20 for the best bacon sandwich on the planet is punchy but if it was homemade bread , great bacon you’d except it. To have 2 thin slices of rubbish bread filled with a bit of dry bacon is laughable and they should be ashamed! Have some pride in your products and what you are doing if you’re gonna charge those prices and don’t extract the urine out of people even if it’s a great location. Very poor!

The place is ok for families with small children as the decor is casual. Good view. However, I paid £5.20 for a bacon sandwich. As this was advertised in bloomer bread, I assumed it would be thick, hand cut bread. Nope. Just really thin bread with an average amount of bacon. Photo below. We were in Swansea for the first time over the weekend as my wife was doing a tandem skydive for the Downs Syndrome Association. Saturday was busy so we were looking at having a beach walk on Sunday morning before we had to head home. So we looked at Tripadvisor and seen the recommendation for the surf side cafe and we decided to try it. We had a beautiful coastal walk early in the morning and then returned to the cafe for a spot of breakfast. Great service and beautiful fresh food. Felt ripped off after eating here! Only accept cash, but not signs telling you so - I just clocked before we ordered that there was no visible card machine and asked, so we had to scrounge together cash as there was no cash machine. We were obviously frustrated by this and there was no apology from the staff. The food came in a reasonable time, but it was disappointing to say the least. After paying £7 for a pretty sad panini, the only thing going for it was the size. Very sad side salad - wilted lettuce with some soggy couscous and a few pieces of cucumber. To top it off, the staff were all very despondent and quite rude - I asked for some water, and none of the three people behind the till even turned round, one was too busy telling her friend about her recent holiday. Cutlery and napkins are by the till, but nobody told us this while we were inside paying, so when our food arrived we didn't have anything to eat with and had to go back in. Not the biggest inconvenience in itself - it was more the lack of communication from staff that was frustrating. None of the staff seemed to care at all that we were paying customers and we were rather glad to take the rest of our money elsewhere for coffees and ice creams afterwards. Not impressed at all.

Women with well-mannered dogs frequented the place. Newspaper reading was popular at breakfast time. We ordered simple morning fare—bagels or muffins—always fresh. It is strictly self-serve, but the workers are smiling and helpful. Recommended, especially with the bay-side location on the beach. Just to prevent confusion there are 2 surf side cafe's both run by the same people, one in Langland and the other in Caswell. Although I have been to the Langland surf side and enjoyed the experience this review is based on my favourite, the Caswell Surf Side. Positioned at the far end of the little row of shops at the top of Caswell Beach is the Surf Side. It's position is superb with uninterupted views across the bay and out to sea. There is also a pleasant seating area outside. It's not a large place but this adds to the cosy feel where you can enjoy a real log burner whilst you indulge in one of their lovely coffees and a delicious breakfast ciabata. The staff are polite and very friendly and the service is prompt considering how popular this place is. They serve a good range of cakes, rolls and hot and cold drinks plus a good selection of ice creams. It is a little on the pricey side but I think it's worth it for the quality and location. Its just a great place to sit and chill out and enjoy.

Have visited the Surfside several times, in warm weather and in colder climes. The setting is perfect, Langland is one of my favourite beaches. The staff are very welcoming, and service is good. Perfect menu for snacks and drinks, inside the cafe is very welcoming, with a log fire in the winter. Outside seating on a balcony is great, with a box of blankets for customer use, for colder days. The cafe is also dog friendly, a real bonus, after a brisk run along the beach.

Sitting in the window of Surfside Caswell, or on the balcony (sometimes with a blanket from the box) , there is so much to watch and entertain. In summer sandcastle and canal systems being constructed, in Autumn/winter dogs chasing balls , horses galloping in the surf and at all times, surfers, canoeists, yachts and fishing boats .in the cafe there are newspapers to read and all this for the price of a very pleasant coffee. Add a cake or panini, burger or breakfast and the price will rise, but it's worth it.

We swam in Langland bay in early September, the beach was deserted apart from a handful of stalwart surfboarders, the water was - of course - freezing, but to emerge from the water, dress, climb the stairs and be greeted by a smiling, friendly young girl behind the counter of this lovely, sadly empty seaside cafe, whose response to our request for a simple portion of chips was a cheery 'No Problem'.A few minutes later we were presented with a very full, very hot container of the freshest, finest looking hand-cooked chips we had ever experienced, topped off with unlimited help-yourself condiments and sauces of the finest brands.Taking our bench seat outside to enjoy the view over our swimming area while the tide came racing in to cover our sand-writings, we loved those chips with every mouthful, wishing we weren't booked to go out for dinner so that we could have experienced other items from their menu !This café will definitely be on our long list of great places to re-visit on our next return to the Gower ....

Little pricey for a small cafe as we only had 2 bacon rolls and a sandwich which cost just over £11. Not to mention no card machine so my fiancé had to run back to the car to scramble some more cash together. How embarassing!

I don't know if the two cafes are owned by the same person but the differences are to the extreme. I live on the Bay and have visited this cafe three times in the last year. I was surprised at the rude staff and dingy cafe. This is cafe the main part of the bay. I thought of this being a one off but have gone there twice since only to have the same kind of snotty attitude and poor customer service by the employees. The cafe is on the beach and a great location but if you want a better service and a cleaner cafe thats also on the beach walk on the other side of the way Its a 2 minute walk and there is an exact cafe where the staff have always been friendly and the place is clean. I've never had a bad experience at the other cafe and can't believe they might be managed, let alone owned by the same person.

We love this beach cafe. The location is amazing, as is the coffee, especially the flat white! Food and service is very good. I always recommend this place to friends. Very popular with dog owners, but should they really be allowed inside the cafe? Despite being kept on leads, it isn't hygienic and today it was packed with dogs and there was a very strong doggy smell in there. Dogs should be allowed in the outside area only, in the fresh air!

We went for a family breakfast at the Caswell Surfside cafe and as soon as we walked in sensed the place wasn't as clean as it could be. There were four other customers but three tables which, for the time we were there, remained dirty and covered in cups. We had to remove the ones from the table we wanted to use. Our breakfasts were average but very overpriced (£30 for two adults, two childrens small breakfasts with drinks). I can't imagine this place gets much repeat business at those prices. While the coffee tasted good, I prefer mine hot, not luke warm, as it was served. Also, perhaps teach staff to anticipate customer's needs. Our breakfasts were delivered we had to hold them to rearrange the (small) table to make room for them and our drinks, and when we asked where knives and forks were, we were told to get them ourselves, even though we, and our children, were each holding a plate in our hands! This could be such a gem given its location but it all feels a bit complacent and I would come again but not at the prices currently charged and not while it feels a bit grubby and unloved.

Top, top food for a beachside cafe. Really nice, healthy sandwiches, paninis, salads etc. Slightly pricier than elsewhere - but then it's very isolated with the only alternatives hot dogs and chips. The portions were very generous too. And it's right on the beach. Well worth it - but they don't take credit cards, so bring cash!

This is a great place if you want an inspirational lunch... their sandwiches are yummy, the bread is not too thick, so not too many carbs. I love the fact they don't cover half the plate in crisps - which I only eat, if I'm given. I feel very fit & healthy, and inspired.... sitting amongst the surfers, padldle-boarders, canoists, wild swimmers.... coffee to die for too!

Went for an early lunch. Was presented with acold cheese and chutney cabiatta thing ! Contained , pre grated cheese, was over chutney'd which made it inedible and the "no salad "comment on the menu ... Not even garnish!! ...meant a pale slab of food came. Really felt like no effort had been made with presentation . It was not nice. Extremely expensive for what arrived. Not staffs Fault. Feel like the owners think..."great location, capitve audience . so we can charge what we like. " I am local, believe in supporting Local business but this just makes me sad. :(

Review for Café on Caswell Bay.We visited as we were near to Caswell Bay in wanting lunch. Although a beach side Café the food is a bit pricier than normal beach hut type food but then the menu is better and so is the food.We had a vegetarian burger and a cheese and chilli burger. Both very large and we'll cooked and the side salad had nice dressing. They don't sell chips but had no objections to us buying them in adjacent Café and bringing them in to eat with our burger.Good service, great food, nice walks outside to walk off any excesses and fantastic views.

This cafe has inside and outside tables with amazing views and a chilled out friendly atmosphere. We had a family lunch here with people ranging from 7 months to their 60s and everyone was happy. The menu is expensive - £6.10 for a pannini or toastie so I wouldn't be going too often. A nice place all the same and tasty food.

What an amazing place - the sun had its hat on & so did we - the staff were so jolly and friendly - had good banter while the kids decided which flavour icecream to have. The Blackcurrant & Cream Icecream was my favourite, could get addicted to it. Their expresso is sooooooo smooth. Kids loved the organic milkshakes. I loved the ginger beer. Very Enid Blyton. I felt liked I'd stepped back in time, it was surreal. This place is literally a beach hut right on the beach. Next timeI need to unwind, this is the first place I'm heading for.

I love their coffee. I cant stop at one. I went here every day on my holiday. Sometimes for coffee, sometimes for lunch, sometimes for afternoon tea. I love the "lower deck", where the tables are level with the beach. Sometimes the tide was high, the sky clear and the sea calm, so peaceful. Sometimes the surf was huge and the surfers are great to watch. Sometimes I sat & painted the pebbles.

Visited this wonderful cafe again! I have to say we were not disappointed once again! Went to meet friends with their children for a coffee and cake, We were very quickly greeted by smiley staff. The menu has a lot to offer from breakfasts to burgers. They have a very large cake cabinet full of sweet treats. I decided to try their new portuese custard tarts, it certainly didn't disappoint and only at £1.80. The cappuccino was amazing. We will be returning again soon!

My boyfriend and I were both in really high spirits, until we visited here. Ridiculously overpriced food. Ordered 2 bacon and egg rolls with ketchup, 2 cokes and a pice of carrot cake. it came to £15. They had no rolls or ketchup so just offered us a sandwich instead. We asked if we could have some of the tomatoes advertised on the menu to make up for the lack of ketchup. The miserable waitress rolled her eyes and said ok. There isn't enough space here to write all the issues we had with the food when it arrived after 20 minutes. Lets just say the experience was awful and wouldn't visit again if someone paid me!

Today my family and I went to Surfside Cafe to get some coffees and snacks. The place was relatively busy and we walked in and settled down on a table. After looking at the menu and even going up to look at ice creams we decided to order. Once we got to the bar one of the members of staff (a girl probably around 18 - looked very disinterested) told us the till was closed so she couldn't do anything for us. This wasn't said in a polite tone and there were clearly more people continuing to walk in at sit down at tables. It seems ridiculous that none of the four members of staff (all very young) were able to inform anyone upon entering that the cafe was actually now closed. The staff were not at all apologetic and seemed to completely ignore customers and the situation around them. We have been to the cafe before for lunch and the food is very average for the above average prices. I feel the only justification for their prices is the lovely location, other than this the cafe does not have much to offer. The staff really need to improve their attitude and the standard of food is below average. It is a shame considering what a unique location it is in.

Had a Birthday meal with friends, our food was outstanding. Lovely selection of beers(I wasn’t driving). We all enjoyed great atmosphere, lovely helpful staff & reasonably priced. I had Salt n pepper calamari with garlic dip & Chicken Cynru (Chicken in a cheese, bacon & leek sauce), with garlic sautee potatoes £21. I CANT recommend this place enough honestly.

I’ve never left a review before but this was too dreadful not too! Horrendous customer service after we ordered over £90 worth of food, delivery driver delivered food to the wrong address with nothing to let us know it had been delivered! When calling to request a refund I was told that I’d made a mistake and to double check with my house and that I should’ve contacted them earlier (even though we waited the allocated delivery time -1hr) We were then hung up on by a member of the team whilst we were attempting to claim our money back 2 hours after our delivery with no food! If I could leave a lower review I would! I suggest no one risks wasting any money on this terrible/rude business!

So after having a family meal at Las Iguanas we came here for a quick drink before heading on somewhere else. The place was packed, yet we found a good table in a relatively quiet corner. We got drinks and I found the staff quick to serve us, it was service with a smile and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We only stopped for the one but this is a place that is return to during the day time.
