Surfside Cafe - Caswell Bay in Swansea

Great location but £11 for a cheese toastie, really?? We had two coffees in central London last weekend for less than we paid here. Recommend bringing a flask and a picnic.

£12 for a toastie is disgusting then to find out your cashless ripping people off ain’t good for your business will never step foot in this cafe again use to be a nice place will make sure we bring are own food from now on and will be letting everyone I no about this place never go here

Food is as expected and staff helpful.

Food was perfectly fine, served quite quick, plenty of seating. Friendly staff, really disappointed it was card only, even when I said I had the exact money to pay (holiday cash budget) I was asked “do you have a card?” These places should not be allowed to force you into paying on card, poor.

Absolutely beautiful!!!waitress was exceptionally friendly and chatted and the welcome was second to none!!!!Highly recommended.

Great place for coffee and a cake, or breakfast, while watching active people enjoying the water. Laid back atmosphere of a beach bar. Staff were friendly but it would have been nice to have our order brought to the table since the cafe was full and hard to negotiate with a tray if you're a bit wobbly like me. But would recommend as a 'beach caff'. Fantastic coffee (Segafredo).

Good location on the beach to sit and watch the sea. Food was ok - we had a panini and a toasted bagel. But my god it's EXPENSIVE! Panini was almost £12 for an average panini with a little bit of lettuce and some couscous. No way I would recommend for the prices. They're obviously just ripping off people due to the location and charging what they like

We always enjoy visiting Surfside, with it's ever changing views and interesting whatever the weather brings. We often sit outside and enjoy a selection from their large and varied menu which includes breakfasts, burgers with side salad snacks, cakes or just toast and marmalade. Oh not forgetting great coffee and other drinks.

So this is a small cafe with awesome views out over the bay. Had two quite disappointing sandwiches here - one tuna mayo, one ham sandwich. Essentially each were two slices of bread, spread, and the filling. Ham and tuna fillings were fine. Cost £4.50 each. Think my feedback to the cafe would be if I’m out for lunch I’d prefer a bit more effort on presentation - why not offer a little side salad or crisps chips on the side? I’d happily pay a little extra for that. If that’s not possible perhaps describe these sandwiches as “cheap eats” on your menu. That would help manage my expectations. Found the staff too busy to smile- this is a place that focuses on fast turnover and the place felt uncomfortably busy - as an example had to sit at a dirty table and wait for it to be cleared (though this was fairly quick). Was more a manic and noisy than a chilled surf vibe. Though the sand on my seat did feel authentic surf! I’d pop in for coffee again but probably wouldn’t eat. It’s the sort of place I might enjoy in the dead of winter when fewer people are around and the log burner is on.

Nice place to sit and take in the view. Drinks and food are expensive and frankly, disappointing. I ordered a lamb burger and was expecting a nice thick Welsh lamb burger and instead got a thin cardboard patty that are available in any supermarket.

Lovely place to sit and eat after a long walk along the beach or the Langland walk, or after a cold swim. Always has good music on (in my opinion) and service is quick even when busy and the queue goes outside the door. Lovely and warm inside too with a fire going on particularly colder days. It is a bit spenny but there are cheaper options for food.

Lovely! Read a review before coming that said the coffee was expensive and over £4 but this isn’t true as my regular cappuccino was £2.90. We sat by the log burner, had coffee and bagels, came to less than £10 each, dog friendly, amazing view and lovely staff! Great location.

Best coffee around. Location, location, location. Such a glorious view of Pwll du Head. Had a dip first - so very grateful for the roaring wood burner. No surf today. Thank goodness for the poster. Loved my flat white and carrot cake.

Nice location but recent price rise to four quid plus for a coffee is madness, especially given the lack of table service and mediocre coffee on offer. Over ten pounds for a toastee! Basic and tired furnishings. Central London this is not!

Place looked dark and miserable had hot drink and went elsewhere for food very tired looking if charging that much for food really need to improve the facilities really missing something here such a shame

4 pound for half a cup of coffe that you wait 30 mins for, I could of went to columbia got the beans got back and still made it before then. Cramped awkward and uncomfortable

It's a great spot. Can't beat watching the waves snug inside after a cold day on the beach. But the food prices have gone something shocking - £4.50 for a small and pretty average brownie. I get supply and demand, but these are London prices!

Great coffee in a great location. Food is a bit expensive and the seats aren't comfy, especially for a curvy lass like me. It gets really hot when the sun shines in, it's a shame they don't have any blinds. It gets really busy on a nice day and the staff are rushed off their feet. They shout out the orders as they can't tell which table is which number, even though they ask for the table number when you order your food. Also it's card payments only now. Not many gluten-free, veggie or vegan options. Parking only via pay and display.

Location is fantastic, but food is very limited and very expensive. Had a full breakfast at the cafe in Limeslade Bay for what they charge for eggs on toast here.

The food was delicious while the view is amazing sitting in the cafe looking out across the bay feels like you could be anywhere in the world.

Love the place ! Always find the staff very pleasant . Food quality is fantastic. I particularly admire the skills and power of a lovely employee I witnessed on Saturday 9/9/2023 when shutting the slide glass door ;)

Visited this afternoon. Very disappointed with the service and attitude of staff. Ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 pots of tea. The young boy taking the order only put one tea on the order, when I asked for the other tea, I was told in an accusing manner, “you only paid for one”. No apology given and when I eventually had my tea, the pot was only half full. Will not be returning. Definitely don’t follow the customer is always right rule.

Called in recently to what used to be a regular stop of ours, wish we hadn't. The coffee was luke warm and rather weak. Whilst the cakes were nice we fancied something more substantial, but were not prepared to pay £10.50 each for a Toasted Cheese Sandwich. How can they justify their prices, so 3 drinks and 3 small cakes £24.50. Dont think we will be back sadly.

Pleasant but clearly overworked staff and nice coffee. Appalling standard of easy to prepare food such as sandwiches and inordinately expensive as a result.

Went to this venue for snack lunch. A stunningly beautiful setting but what poor service. There were 3 of us and just 2 other customers in the café, so the single member of staff was not busy. Much of the time we were there she was either texting or sat down and appeared to be drawing, showing little interest the customers. When the food came it was good but whilst she was busy with her mobile phone we had to find our own cutlery and napkins after the food came. Things were also on the pricey side. Cleanliness in the toilet also left something to be desired. I guess there is little competition and it shows.

Stopped for lunch, gluten free options minimal and of course expensive. So I had the salad £10.50 some tuna mayo, red onions, lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes. Underneath the mayo there was cheese, thought it was odd, but worst still realised it was couscous. Obviously this is durum wheat & not gluten free! £10.50 was a lot and even more, now I have to spend a few hours hoping I didn't eat any! I commented to a member of staff who shrugged! Not exactly the most helpful thing to do! Won't be going back and can't recommend. Poisoning people is not cool! If I was allergic, it would have been a very different situation! Please train your staff!

Hygiene leaves a lot to be desired, staff more interested in chatting than keeping the tables and floor clean. Windowsills and windows dirty, seat cushions filthy. Staff seen handling food with hair uncovered, girls constantly touching their hair then handling food without washing hands or wearing gloves. Owner needs to make unannounced visit to check on standards before environmental health does. The impromptu loud staff karaoke was an unexpected and inappropriate performance which diners could have done without as we couldn’t hear ourselves speak.

Great stop for needed fuel. Prices are not cheap tho. Dogs everywhere!!

Surfside Cafe is a Langland institution. Hub of the beach community. Good food. Friendly servers. Good atmosphere. Brilliant views of lovely Langland Bay

Lovely cafe overlooking Caswell bay . Easy parking .Good quality food served Inc baguettes, lamb/beef burgers,salads cake Coffee and tea service is hectic as you order then wait to be called to collect .This can mean navigating your way through customers and dogs to carry back . Sadly the coffee is weak and annoyingly they charge for an extra shot . Lovely costal path walk to neighbouring beautiful Langland beach .

Card payment only, why not cash.

Great little place to stop for a cuppa and a bite to eat. We had hot chocolates and a mug of tea. Reasonable prices, but the hot chocolate wasn't that hot. Absolutely PERFECT location, and I bet the wood burner is a hit in Winter! It was really noisy and the service could be better. Three young women were behind the counter chatting with only two tables occupied but they called out for us to collect our luke warm hot chocolates. On the way out we heard one of them say to a customer that they had run out of hot chocolate. Given the shelf life of sachets, it's quite remarkable.

Visited for toasted sandwiches as had been a few months before. Paid around £16 last visit for 2 toasties & 2 coffee this time £24 2 toasties 1 can 1 coffee. Service prompt and staff friendly.

Always get lovely snacks here. Good service from mainly teenagers. Tables need wiping down a bit more frequently. Overall a great place.

Absolutely shocked at the pressure the young staff were under the owners should b ashamed of themselves the prices could afford 3 or 4 staff the 2 young staff spent their day apologising to everyone we personally waited 70 mins for 2 rolls but the young kids were so nice you couldn’t get angry with them people should enjoy going to work to a point my wife is in catering all her life she was shocked won’t return

A very small but cozy Café by the beach. Options are basic and don‘t expect too much. Staff is friendly but the place could use a major refresh.

We went to the Surfside cafe today 2cnd July 2022 and was very disappointed , one of the staff just couldn’t be bothered to look up to serve you, hardly any choice of cakes, ect. no pickle to put on sandwich or side salad served with sandwich for the high prices you’re being charged. I had a visitor with me from Somerset and was ashamed of the standards of this lovely little cafe in a beautiful location . So sad….

Very nice little Cafe, friendly and polite staff who go the extra mile. My wife's coffee went cold as she had to take our grandson to the toilet. I asked if they could warm it up for me and they gave me a fresh one!

Not impressed, food was mediocre and very overpriced. The staff were uncaring and not very helpful all in all not a nice experience at any level! Not recommended.

Lovely place for motorcyclist to park up, to sit, relax, and watch the world go by just beside a lovely beach. Lovely coffee, and breakfast. Great Menu!! Recommended totally!

AVOID unless you want to waste your time. Six utterly clueless waiting staff. Forgot our order three times over the course of an hour. Left before our food arrived because it was nearly 2023 🤷🏼‍♂️

My wife and I have had breakfast here a few times and the setting, with the view of the sea, is unbeatable. The food itself is usually robust and good quality. And the overall experience is generally relaxing. We love it.

Waited 45 mins for a bacon and egg bun. Asked three members of staff if it was coming, then spoke to a manager and no one ever confirmed if it was coming or not. Ended up giving up without eating or refund (so paid £7 for a coffee).

We have visited the cafe at Caswell numerous times and have never been disappointed, coffee and food always piping hot and served by friendly staff. Bearing this in mind, we decided to take our guests for the weekend to Caswell for a coffee this afternoon. We were in the cafe at 4.40, looking forward to our drinks, only to be told the coffee machine was turned off. Most of the chairs had already been stacked so we left. The shutters were down and the cafe completely shut up before 5.00. Our friends were unimpressed, as were we, and we enjoyed a very nice hot drink at the neighbouring kiosk, along with a number of other people who had also been turned away from Surfside. If you advertise as being open until 5.00, one could reasonably expect to be served at 4.40. Very disappointed and you have now lost previously loyal customers.

We absolutely love this cafe and come here regularly winter and summer..was disappointed today as we received cold lattes and a burnt toasted teacake when I politely asked for a knife I was rudely told to get it myself..I think the girls who were working today were to busy nattering about what they got up to last night😒

Nice little spot for sunshine and a good menu. Might benefit from a numbered ordering system as it can be difficult to keep track at busy times. Toasted sarnies are excellent.

Another great place too have coffee and breakfast roll before heading back too limeslade on the coastal walk

What an awesome little cafe, staff were excellent when it was jam packed, just two of them getting in everyone's orders no matter how fussy and making it all there and then in the blink of an eye, not to mention the cafe being situated by the stunning Caswell Bay, a top spot for families, surfers, birders and wildlife watchers. Seals, quality waves and great food at the cafe to finish makes a great day out. Thank you Surfside Cafe!

Visit this beach regularly when in this area as it has everything if the tide is low. There's car parking, toilets, a cafe and kiosks where beach requisites, ice creams and refreshments can be bought. Lovely castle building sand and Rock pools round the cliffs. There's a flow of icy cold water across the beach out to sea which out youngsters have always referred to as the Freezing, because it is!!!! Lifeguards patrol here too so a great place for a fun day out unless the tide is high. If so,there's no sand to play on!!!!!! For any adults who want to get off the sand there's are beautiful cliff walks accessible from here too. The views are spectacular on a bright day. My sister has lived locally for over 30 years and it has entertained our children and now our grandchildren.

Nice cozy cafe and friendly. Good view of the beach. They have sun cream on house, which is helpful if you ran out or forgot your own.

Chips, drinks, pies and pastys, ice creams and buckets and spades. All that you'd expect from a beach side shack.

Great food, not inexpensive. Fabulous location on the beach. Need to get there early to bag a parking spot. Parking was coins only when we went, July 21. Waiting staff spot on.

Coffee is good quality but don't expect too much of service. Ordered food to sit outside at their tables and got served on a paper plate which flew to the ground with half my food in it. Just thought such prime position in Swansea deserves better.

Friendly service excellent food and coffee

Nothing beats having chips on the beach. Staff were very friendly lots to offer too from sandcastle buckets to Casell Bay fridge magnets. You know when you have a good cone of chips when you get the small crunchy bits in the bottom soaked up in the vinegar. Lush.

Great they even do lacto free and soya milks. Fab to see they are also invested in eco cutlery, cups and lids, totally digging that! 👌
