A lovely little cafe with the best cakes. The owner is very friendly. We could see why it won't the best cafe in Weymouth award. A bit hidden away, although in the very centre, but definitely worth finding

This cafe is amazing! We were wandering along in the streets of Weymouth and stumbled across this lovely cafe and really smiley staff. The food was delicious - and different, but in a great way - can thoroughly recommend 100%.

Truly amazing honey cake and hot chocolate. The cafe looks ordinary from the outside but the cakes are the finest quality. We will be back with friends and family

Thoroughly recommend this lovely café just slightly off the beaten track yet near the harbour in Weymouth. This is a Ukrainian café and all the cakes and pastries are made by them and are delicious (try the honey cake or cherry cake). Been quite a few times now whenever business takes me to that area and they are consistently welcoming and always serve some lovely teas. Sunshine is what you get there so aptly named.

Well what a little gem we have, hidden away in Weymouth. To be fair, there are a lot of good tea and cake places to choose from but Sunflower Cafe turns the presentation of cake into the type of artistic eye candy you would expect to find in classy hotels or west end continental patisseries. Walking in to this unassuming cafe, we received a friendly welcome and settled at our table in a relaxed atmosphere of soft ambient jazz. We ordered a selection of cakes to share including unbelievably soft honey cake and chocolate honey cake, a mouthwatering cherry cake, a stunning apple cake and a mildly bitter dark chocolate cup filled with strawberry mousse. We all had different favourites. Finally we succumbed to the temptation of a deliciously crunchy Esterhazytorte (hazelnut and almond) torte, and a couple of cheesecakes sculpted to look and taste like banana and apple. Very highly recommended!

I love all their cakes - yes I have tried them all! - and the new mushroom crepes are fab. And I had a yummy light apple pie for dessert. Quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. Always a treat to eat at the Sunshine Cafe.

We visited on a cold and wet day in February but the warmth of the greeting when we entered this delightful cafe made the day brighter. The cafe’s owner welcomed us in and told us about the 4 amazing looking cakes that she had made fresh that day. They had all been baked by her, and were all traditional Ukrainian recipes. After great debate we chose a honey cake (with a cherry cake to take away - too hard to choose). Oh my goodness! We have never tasted anything like it (and the cherry cake later was equally delicious).

Clean, bright and unusual homemade cakes. Hearing the origination of the cake recipe increased my appreciation and knowledge, to be encouraged. Such a change from industrial baking and cakes wrapped in cellophane. I had a cup of tea and a cake for £7.50.

Saw this by chance. The cafe we usually go to was closed, so we went in. The display cakes were very appealing, and we had a slice each and coffee. Fabulous. Beautifully made, well presented, and something different from standard British cake. We'll be back.

To the list of all the things that we can learn from Ukranians must be added how to make delicious cakes! This cafe is just so lovely. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. The Ukranian lady who served us was really friendly and informative, and the cakes were just amazing! I had the honey cake and my wife and cousin both had the cherry cake. All absolutely gorgeous. Not too sweet and sickly, just perfect. If you are in Weymouth you should definitely go here, I couldn't recommend it more. Thank you ladies!

Delicious cakes - freshly made using high quality ingredients. What I love about this cafe is that I can always opt in for one of my favourites - cherry cake or honey cake and then get pleasantly surprised by a selection of special cakes. The owner constantly comes up with something new in addition - so it’s nice to look forward to a new masterpiece looking beautiful and with divine taste. The staff are friendly and prepared to go above and beyond to keep customers happy.

I could have eaten all the delicious looking cakes. I chose the honey cake which was absolutely perfect. Go there and you won’t be disappointed. The cakes are homemade and nowhere else that I’ve visited comes close to the quality.

Went in at around 2.30 so admittedly later in the day. It was my sisters birthday and she’s been asking for one of the beautiful cakes she’d heard so much about. There were two whole lovely cakes and three separate slices of different cakes available. I asked about the large cakes and was quite abruptly told ‘no, they’re for tomorrow’. I had the three slices that were left and paid £6 per slice for them. In any normal circumstance, the abruptness of their answer would have made me walk straight out but as it was for a birthday treat, I bought them. I really felt the staff were rude and unwelcoming. Until the shop is closed, they’re open for business and should be friendly and welcoming. If you don’t want customers after a certain time, lock the door. I won’t be back.

This is a lovely little cafe, we visited to try some of the Ukrainian cake and it was outstanding. We had the chocolate cherry cake and every element of it was delicious, perfectly balanced. The cake was pricey (£5) in comparison to other local cafes but the standard reflected this, and the drinks were very reasonable. The owner was very friendly and gave our son a little Ukrainian chocolate. Very clean and tidy cafe nicely decorated and must again mention the really special cake, we will definitely be back.

I'm so glad I looked this place up because it's the sort of place I love but I'd have dismissed it because of where it is in a bland looking unit on a business estate. Plenty of parking here, outdoor seating, a mezzanine and takeaways. We ate in - delicious cheese scone (to remember my Mum by), roasted veg pasty, Baboo ice-cream, and the tastiest decaf mocha I've had in a long term - maybe ever. All for around £20. Loved it.

Had heard good things about this little cafe/shop, so thought we would give it a go. Parking was a bit odd, as we parked outside then saw that there was a requirement to pay via a QR code 🙁 the Chef came out and pointed us in the direction of some free parking, but could imagine it might get tricky at busier times or during an evening pop-up dinner. There were four of us for brunch, we sat upstairs. It is obviously a re-purposed industrial unit, but it was welcoming, nice crockery, some wall art. The waitress couldn’t do enough for us. Two of us had the frittata and two had the Dim Sum. Everyone said how tasty theirs was, and plentiful. Good price. We would definitely go back, and would like to try a pop-up dinner.

A wonderful little shop with all types of vintage items and a comfy spot to have tea coffee or hit chocolate. Good cakes too. Thoroughly recommend
