First order from Sunar Gow and we’ll definitely be back again! Food was delicious, so flavoursome and made with quality ingredients. My Chicken Sagwala was so tender and the sauce had a lovely depth of flavour.

Visited Sunar Gow tonight for the first time in months.Took our own drink knowing they don’t serve alcohol. The food was excellent as was the service. Very polite and understanding. Decor is well impressive. Will use more regularly

Arrived early, thats suits ne just fine. Food is a little more expensive but pay the extra as the food really is rather good. The 'killer' keema naan breads are fabulous!

We visited the Sunar Gow today to celebrate my sons birthday. We had poppadoms, 3 starters, 3 mains, 3 rice and 2 naan breads. Just wow! The food was beautiful and well presented. The atmosphere is lovely with blossom trees over the ceiling and atmospheric lighting. The staff couldn't do enough for us. With is being a Tuesday it was very quiet in the restaurant but they were busy with takeaways! We took our own alcohol with us and they were quick to bring me a wine bucket for the bottle to stay chilled and pint glasses for the boys. Our meal cost just over £80 which I feel is great value for money. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will absolutely be visiting again!

We popped in here on the off chance tonight and it did not disappoint. We knew they didn’t serve alcohol so we took a few of our own bottles of beer for which they provided glasses and an ice bucket. The decor was stunning, very modern and exceptionally clean. Very welcoming atmosphere right from the start. Service was brilliant the staff were so friendly and very accommodating. They ensured our pickle tray was always full and took away our empty beer bottles promptly. The food…. Wow! We had poppadoms, onion bhaji, chicken 65 (this was incredible), chicken tikka masala for sharing, pilau rice, chips and a nann bread. Everything was perfect, so delicious. They taste was spot on, just the right amount of spice to the dishes and they were presented beautifully. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will absolutely be going back and telling all of our friends about it. If you went a delicious Indian in a fantastic atmosphere this is the place for you!

This is the first review I’ve ever done.As a tramping lorry driver I get to eat at least 4 or 5 times a week getting the food delivered. The food was amazing. The delivery driver forgot the bottle of coke and came within 5 minutes. Is it a bit expensive? Yes. But at least you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend this place, and hope to find more places like this, so I can do my second review.

We used to eat here all the time until it shut, thought it was good before, but we have been twice in one week, the food is absolutely gorgeous , dont be put off by having to take your own alcohol they are very forthcoming with the glasses when you get there , staff very friendly and accommodating , we went with friends one of them loves his curry very hot and they sorted it, its now his new place to go , keep it up

Our family group of 10 eat there last night. The food was fantastic the staff couldn't do enough for us all and it's set in a wonderful atmosphere after a recent Make over. All family members said how good the food was. Well Happy Just take your own alcohol.

Visited last night with the family. Had a lamb dish that was outstanding. We all enjoyed our food. Excellent service. Alcohol isn't served, but we were allowed to bring our own. Will definitely be returning.

Not keen on the food. Butter Chicken was white, had a layer of something on the top that was super sweet, almost like a pudding. The Saag Aloo wasn't great, needed seasoning. Lamb chops were stingy for £8!

Arrived on time and the food was delicious 😋. It tasted fresh and there was certainly plenty of it! Onion bhajis were crisp and dry too. Would order from here again 👍🏻

This is our local Indian, we have eaten in a few times and also regularly get takeaways from here. The food has always been perfect never once had a bad meal here, all interactions with staff have been friendly as well.

Went there with my wife and kids very nice food i have to say. The starter chicken 65 was something else. Curry was serves on tawa and the best keema nan I have had in ages. Cocktail blue lagoon was really nice. Very nice and warm also.

Very disappointing experience, my dish was ok but my family didn’t enjoy theirs. One waiter came over and asked if everything was alright to which we said “it’s not great”, he just laughed and walked off - awful response and left us with no choice other than to eat the food. What did they expect us to do after that response, pay for the food and not eat any of it? At the end of the meal another waiter came over and asked how everything was, we expressed again it wasn’t particularly good hoping this waiter would at least be trained in hospitality but again they just laughed, made a sarcastic response about “enjoying bland food” and walked off laughing. Not really sure what choice we had, most restaurants would ask for feedback on how they could improve and at least offer an apology. I can see, as predicted, they have replied with something equally as dismissive, arrogant and sarcastic - all I’d say to anyone thinking about dining here is read all the negative reviews first - they all echo a similar narrative over quite an extensive timeframe.

Worst curry I've had, probably ever! even supermarket curries are tastier The food was incredibly bland not even remotely authentic (I am of Indian heritage myself, so know of what I speak) When the waiter asked how was it and I replied honestly, instead of apology he said "you must like bland food" he never even looked at the half eaten dishes my wife and I left! All in all never going back there and would not recommend to anyone Just read the reply and my god talk about gaslighting! I don't know if the other reviews are genuine but the reply bears no resemblance to our actual experience I will say no more but will not be recommending to my friends and colleagues and will NEVER go there again

Absolutely amazing food went there with my friends, the only problems my friends had was that there was no alcohol i don't drink so I didn't care.(theres a pub just down the road)My friends and me enjoyed the food the service was amazing. Very nice decoration inside.

Very disappointed with this visit. We were not told there was no license for alcohol, when I asked about meals if they were hot, they just walked away. Then wrong meal brought and when questioned the waiter basically said I was lying.

We visited as a group in the week for the first time since refurbishment. The decor has certainly had an uplift and the restaurant has a modern and original vibe. The food was good, portions were generous and the menu has all the classics and some ingenious dishes with an Indian twist. Everything was cooked and served very promptly and the flavours were good. The presentation was exceptional, added to the upmarket ambience and was a step above your average curry house. What really made the Sunar Gow special, though, was the service and the staff: particularly Rahim and Mo. They were welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to proudly explain the meaning behind the restaurant name and ensure we had what we needed, from drinks to table space, and we were enjoying our meal. When a minor error was made with the order they were quick to waive the charge for an extra dish and even tailored an off menu request for one of our party. They were attentive without being intrusive and genuinely friendly and engaging. Overall a very pleasant experience and everything felt a bit more special than a standard curry house!

The delivery guy was extraordinary with his navigational skills and real nice. Though the app itself was frozen and did not update us on anything, he still managed to find us

We usually have take away but it was my birthday so we thought we would eat in , I tried the jhinga anghara from,the new menu, delicious doesn’t cover it, so many flavors all very gentle and served by the two lovely gentlemen Muhib and Mukith

We were recommended to eat here by some of my club members in Hatton, so we gave it a go for our anniversary on 19th August. We were really pleased with the food, the service, the drinks (cocktails maid by Mohib - top man) and overall had an excellent experience. Will definitely visit more often now we know how good it is.

It's just a shame there is no alcohol license but the food was incredible and they offer a good selection of alcohol free drinks. Lovely service very friendly 👌

Great tasting order, friendly service and fast preparation

Cannot fault this restaurant at all - it’s not long reopened after a full refurb and changed to a non alcohol serving restaurant ( really wasn’t an issue to any of us ) the focus is on the food quality and experience - on arrival the staff were all friendly / knowledgable and very personalable …. The decor is beautiful not a penny spared - the chef came out to discuss our likes etc and after talking to him and hearing his passion about his food and the display really was a lovely informative chat - each one of our party chose something they wouldn’t have had if the chef hadn’t come to chat. The focus really is on the food experience and we cannot fault it at all - would recommend to anyone so please spread the word - if your looking for a standard curry after a few pints then don’t waste your or their time as it’s a bit more refined but well worth a visit 👍🏻

The best chicken madras around. I've tried so many Indians and nothing compares to this one. I've not eaten in but takeaways are amazing, so only can imagine it's even better eating in. Everytime I come to fetch the takeaway the staff are so friendly. Nan breads lovely! But the main thing for me is the tasty curry with the right heat 🌶

Visited with husband and kids. We hadn't booked but that wasn't a problem. We were made to feel very welcome. The restaurant is lovely and clean. The food was delicious. There are some kids options on the menu. The staff were all lovely. Highly recommend.

Visited here last night after a long time away because of the refurbishment… tried three new dishes from the new menu and we were blown away… all three were excellent and the presentation was beautiful… the guys were great and explained all about the new dishes and the ingredients which we appreciated… don’t be scared to try the new dishes Haz and the team will help you out with any info… We also tried for the first time a dessert…. Milk cake wow delicious.

Food was absolutely lovely, presentation, service, attentive staff 💯 So far we have dined there twice since they reopened on 23rd June. Can so far recommend the tawa, jalfrezi, dhansak, lababdar, chicken banjara, lucknow chicken tikka and the dessert caramel and biscoff milk cake. All in all an exceptional dining experience. Will certainly return.

This was a memorable evening. We have been dinning in so many restaurants in Birmingham, just thought go out side of Birmingham. I am glad we travelled to Derby, Sunar Gow restaurant. The food was generous portions, mocktails made by waiter Mr Gulli (blue lagoon) 💙 and strawberry moctail by Faisol was mind blowing. Very classy place, staff was friendly and the owner Haz gave us a lovely warm greeting. Loved the starter chicken 65, my King Prawn Kada, my son ate king prawn first time and he loved it. A-Z was 5 star service. Definitely will go again, highly recommended

I'm not normally a fan of curry, only ever tried Korma, but thought I'd give a prawn tikka a go with egg fried rice.... Ordered on just eat, came early and wow I will definitely be ordering from here again.
