Sun Am in Blackpool

I rang up just about 5 pm to book a table for 7 30 , very pleasant on the fone. I went with a good friend. From when we walked in till we left , the staff were polite , friendly. When we ordered our meals , the appitiser came out with in 10 minutes, and just as we had finished that the starters came out , wen we finished them we had to wait about 15 minutes for our mains as they were freshly cooked . Well worth a revisit sometimes in the future

Oh my beautiful meal x called on speck as in bispham for 2 days over my birthday x fancied an Indian and we wernt disappointed! Had a fab meal and staff brilliant x told them it was my birthday and They all congratulated me x restaurant busy when we walked in x when we went to pay I was given a bottle of wine for my birthday x we will definitely go back next time we're here x

Was in Blackpool for a couple of days. Came out of bingo at 10pm and really fancied a curry but thought it might be too late at this time of night. Looked on Google and found this restaurant that stated the restaurant was open till 11:30! Braved the torrential rain and made the short journey to Bispham. Arrived at the restaurant like two drowned castaways but were given a wonderful friendly greeting by all. I ordered a lamb dopazia for myself and (embarrassingly asked for a lamb butter chicken for my wife!!) everyone laughed at my little mistake. The meal itself was superb. Because the weather was so atrocious we had the restaurant to ourselves with the added bonus it was buffet night. We left full and totally satisfied at finding this wonderful Indian in Bispham and have no hesitation whatsoever in highly recommending this place, give it a try, you won't be disappointed .

Super nice meal. Food was a joy. Inside was spotless. Staff were friendly and didn't hover. The atmosphere was relaxed and the background music was nice and quiet, so you can actually talk normally and have a conversation across the table. I love Indian food and and can honestly say this was one of the nicest restaurant experiences I've had. Food wasn't oily and the peshwari naan was fantastic. If we lived closer we'd eat here every week.

We arrived there at about 6:30 pm tonight and the place was busy. And in a restaurant that's busy at that time, you know it's going to be a great night out. And it was. The staff are really friendly and professional and the restaurant has had a recent renovation. Once again, the meal was superb. My wife had the Nepali Curry which she really loves and I had Lamb tikka dhansak which never fails to hit the spot. So to sum it up: great venue, great authentic music, great service and great food. What's not to love!

Went here a few days ago with a large group as we were looking for a restauraunt while we were visiting Blackpool. This place did not disappoint, everything was amazing from the curries to the service, I could not fault it. I would recomend the lamb karahi and their cheesy naans. Definitely coming back here next time we visit. For anyone thats going to the beach or the theme park i'd recomend coming here to eat.

Had gone to visit Blackpool with my family and after a nice day out had found this place to dine at. After visiting, I hoped I had found this place much earlier. From the food, to the service and friendly manner of the staff. Everything was perfect. The curries were extremely delicious, the staff were friendly and checked up on us to make sure everything was ok and if we needed anything else. If you do come down to Blackpool, then this is 100% a place to come down and eat at. Will be coming here myself again very soon.

A restaurant with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Fantastic food and service. Will absolutely be back for more. If you're in the area I'd recommend coming here, it will not disappoint.

We've tried so many Indian restaurants and takeaways round here and the Sunam is THE best. The staff are always super friendly and the food is always spot on. In a lot of restaurants the sauces taste basically the same but the flavours and fragrances here are amazing.The only thing I would wish for was more paneer dishes but it's still my go to Indian!

Okay, so it was only takeaway but once again everything in the meal was absolutely perfect. We always celebrate our Anniversary with them because they are so good. Can't wait to get back to the restaurant itself.

I am working in Blackpool at the minute. I past the restaurant and the smells that came out was delicious and instantly made me feel hungry. The restaurant itself was really clean and definitely inviting for which I would give 11 out 10. However when my tandoori mixed grill arrived at my hotel I was less than impressed the lamb was more like mutton and the chicken was like plastic it was inedible. I’m sure it was a one off judging by the cleanliness of the restaurant however I was disappointed. Sorry guys

Got takeaway on Friday evening picked it up , I had tikka masala , &Balti chicken with garlic rice it was really nice so we ordered again on Saturday Lamb saag and a chef special , & a butter chicken it was lovely again and they even delivered it to our campervan ! Will be our go to Indian when next here

We loved the Sunam and have used this restaurant over many years for eating in and takeaway and never had any complaints. Last night we ordered over £50.00 of takeaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary at home with family. The chicken was 'hard and inedible' and was thrown in the bin. The lamb madras was also hard but edible. The only things that were nice were the poppadum's and naan breads. Are they under new management or have a new cook? It will be some time before we use them again which is really sad and disappointing.

We were staying in Blackpool with my parents and they don’t really like Indian food (other than the odd korma) but we talked them into getting a few dishes to share as a takeaway. There was loads of dishes to chose from, some I’d never heard of before and the prices were reasonable. We ordered 3 dishes between the 4 of us, one was mild, one medium and one labelled hot. We also got a couple of nanas and a rice. The food was really good - my parents even liked the medium and hot ones! We will be trying this again next time we’re staying in Blackpool.

We have used this place several times over several years.Up until tonight it has always been good quality.Tonight’s food was below par, the starter was very chewy, the naan bread was burnt and the main course was overpowered with salt. It’s a shame as it always had a very good name.Don’t think we’ll be rushing back.This was a takeaway meal.

ordered meal for two online at 16.30 on new years eve for 1900 hrs delivery 2 hours 15 mins later no food arrived the first time we phoned they said they would ring back that didn't happen the second time was told 15 minutes and would be there its now 21.45 no food and we have put chip pan on new years eve meal spoilt obviously they do not value there customers avoid

We have been dining here and using the takeaway for decades. Food always excellent but let down now with poor customer service. Placed an order with 35 minutes wait time and waited nearly 2 hours. On phoning restaurant the chap said the food was on its way but it wasn't. Said he was the manager and wasn't. Eventually Spoke to manager said food was not cooked yet. Its reasonable to wait at busy times and that's fine but expectation times for delivery were hugely out and when enquiries were made they were not apologetic and the person that answered the phone was deliberately misleading and pretending to be the manager. No matter how good the food is, service like this is unacceptable and I an no longer recommend Sunam to anyone.

With restaurants closed we ordered a takeaway from Sunam for our Saturday tea. After phoning in our order we only waited about 40mins for it to arrive. The food was really really good. It was so tasty and excellent quality. The Sunam is the nicest Indian meal we have had for a long time.

I have visited The Sunam this evening and was made to feel welcome from the moment I entered. The staff could not have made you feel more welcome and the service was excellent, I had a Balti Chicken which was cooked to perfection and had a lovely chat with Mr. C the owner of the property. He went out of his way to make sure I had a nice evening. If you visit Blackpool I highly recommend that you make the effort to visit this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to visit again.

Booked a table for 2. Wife loved the Chicken tikka masala and pershwari naan, but then again she does like very mild food, she even said it was one of the best she's had. I went for the bhuna which was way too mild for me. Paratha was very good, desserts were also good. Would highly recommended this restaurant if you like mild curries. Found it unusual that the waiters wore T-shirts and not the usual suits and bow ties that they wear in Birmingham restaurants.I thought that was good as I prefer casual dress myself.

We have been customers here for more than twenty years and always had amazing food and service. However, the restaurant has recently changed hands and from our experience this evening it would appear not for the better. We waited 1 hour 50 minutes for delivery, phoning twice to be told the driver was five minutes away. When the food eventually arrived the driver had no no idea how much the meal was but as the food was stone cold it didn’t matter as it went straight back. Apparently the previous driver was stopped by the police and took the meal back before it was sent out again. No phone calls explaining this despite having our number. Not good enough .

I have used this restaurant's take away service several times whilst staying at the nearby Premier Inn and on each occasion the food has been reasonably priced and the food has been of an excellent quality. Portions are very generous and the food is ready usually within 20-30 minutes of calling through your order. Better still for a takeaway collection order the restaurant gives a 15% discount too.

We actually ordered through Just Eat. We placed the order at 6.25 and was originally told on Just Eat it would arrive by 7.25. When the food hadn’t arrived by this time we contacted the restaurant and was told it would be an additional 25mins. We waited an additional 25mins and food still had not arrived. Again we contacted the restaurant who said again it was on its way ! The restaurant did say it was very busy but maybe than taking orders you can’t fulfill in the time frame given you should stop takeaways until you catch up. We eventually got the food at 8.30 over 2hours from initial order. We didn’t want to eat this late and if we had been notified of delivery time it would of given us an option to possibly eat elsewhere. The customer service when you ring the restaurant was very poor and on the second phone call the member of staff actually put the phone down on my husband with no apology for the delay. Food was ok but to be honest because of the lateness of the order a few of us had been snacking on other food so some of it was actually wasted! We have ordered takeaway before and had delays in delivery but not a full hour from stated delivery time. I would definitely avoid takeaway! Also one of the samosas had hardly any filling and for the price this was disappointing. The cost of the food is expensive as mentioned in other reviews. Going forward we won’t be giving Sunam our business purely for poor customer service.

This is our third time here and we weren’t disappointed. The service was great and staff were very attentive. The food was beautiful. We had the banquet for two. There was a variety of options to chose from and all courses were well presented and delicious. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you :)

This is a pleasant restaurant with a good atmosphere with attentive staff and the food was of good quality, well cooked and tasted great. Additionally it was an eat out to help out night and they were full yet this did not affect the service we received or delay our meal being served. Everbetterything was great and I would have gone back until an inappropriate ending. I was with my cousin who is well known off the television. At the end a staff member (perhaps the owner) came over and asked for a photo. Before my cousin could respond the staff member has not only sat down on the bench seat next to him put snuggled up so close to him he was practically sat on his lap. This during the Covid 19 pandemic. My cousin couldn't really say no as it's bad form but the staff members who had been wearing masks, but not covering their noses, should know better.

We had a table booked for tuesday evening at 8.15pm. We didnt get seated till nearly 9 oclock and was stood in a narrow doorway with people walking past which was also the exit (no social distancing was possible). When we finally sat down we waited ages for our drinks, and for the food. We got our popdorms quite quickly but our mains came out before our starters!! They took the mains back. When The starters came they were really dry, and the pakoras were hard. The mains when they came were ok but nothing special. We didnt even get an apology for the shocking service! I understand they were busy but the service was awful. I definetly wont be returning.

Friday night in Blackpool central Googled "Best Indian Restaurant in Blackpool" apparently there isn't one?Took the highest rated, bit of a walk, took a chance & did not book, table for two name, number & address take due to CIVID19, smart modern restaurant, bit dark? Poms, pickles & drinks ordered, chicken rogan & jalfrezi, rice & garlic naan, food was excellent, possibly one of the best curries we have had, it's been a while, total bill £40.

Ordered takeaway from here tonight. Very disappointed. Ordered king prawn massala and found two pieces of chicken in it. I don't eat any meat so found this disgusting.

We’re all in lockdown and to cheer the whole family up, I ordered takeaway meals for everyone. I chose Sunam as they came highly recommended for the quality of the food, service, staff and delivery and they did not disappoint, they excelled !Every meal that was ordered and delivered to various post codes across Blackpool arrived hot and it’s an understatement to say the food was perfection.The children loved the chicken korma and naan bread ! Absolutely superb and I will be coming back on a regular basis.Thank you to Khaled and the teamJonathan

So decided to try a new Indian and this was the culprit. I’m not a big lover of curry’s but I like butter chicken and saw the description of this one and thought it sounded nice. It came and it was korma. I dislike korma at the best of times so did not expect this to taste like it. I rang the Indian to make a complaint and the guy on the phone just was so rude and kept making ridiculous excuses up. When you order you want friendly service and what you actually order. That’s £20 I’ll never get back cheers pal.

My wife and i have just finished a takeaway meal from the sunan tandoori on red bank road. The meal was first class cooked fresh and tasty.Staff shoul be congratulated for providing food and particularly suporting NHS staff by giving a free curry and a naan or rice to N H S workers. We eat at this fabulous restaurant regularly only living up the road in cleveleys, the food is excellent along with the service and cleanliness of the restaurant, it's the only Indian we dine at now.

We called in as we hadn't booked anything for my 50th birthday. We we're greeted very warmly by the staff. They were curtious and friendly from the start. The atmosphere was relaxing and the food was absolutely gorgeous. We will definately be going again when we next visit my family up there.

Yes only had take away from here but the food was absolutely fabulous. Onion bajhe , and a chicken tikka masala to die for. After my experience with the takeaway, i will definitely return and try the restaurant with friends. Reasonably priced menu, nice decor, cosy ambience.

... but I don't. I found a hair in the starter. When I told a server, he simply took it away - no apology, nothing... I decided I didn't want a replacement, nor the main, or any food from there, so I cancelled my order. But we'd all come out for a night out (the table had been booked for a few weeks), so my companions decided to continue with their orders, and I was happy to stay and enjoy their company whilst they ate (I wouldn't have stayed, but I wasn't going to let the incident ruin everyone's evening). When one of my companions requested water, the server literally plonked the water jug on the table right in front of me! And there was plenty of room elsewhere on the table. Just rude. As was the attitude I received from him and another server - from the little interaction we had, I got the impression they were perplexed at my reaction to the contaminated food. At the end of the meal, I decided to go to Sainsbury's across the road to get myself something to eat, and whilst I was gone, my companions were left to pay their bill. Imagine the scene when I met up with them outside to discover that they had been charged for my starter! They complained. The manager apparently stated that he was unaware that their had been an issue (staff communication lesson in the somewhere...). My companions told me that there were three staff members stood over them whilst they were sat down during this conversation. In the end, the starters were removed from the bill. Fair enough you might say, but as reasonable adults, we'd rather pay full price for clean, decent food that's served without brusque, poor attitude. Oh, and the tablecloths were stained, so either change them more regularly or the washing powder!

We’ve been here before, about a year ago. We remembered how great we both thought the meal was, and was going to write a review then and I forgot. Sorry Sunam. Decided we wanted a good curry and went out of our way to come here again. Honestly, This food is excellent. The staff, Ripon, Didar and Milon are excellent staff, very attentive and professional and polite. And most of all the food is delicious. The balance of spices and heat is spot on. I’m a meat eater and my partner is pescaterian. She had vegetable Bhuna, I had a lamb rogan josh. It was Fabulous.! The starters are perfect. The Naan bread is fresh and fluffy. The dishes are supremely blended to bring out all the tastes of ginger, garlic, coriander, cumin and chillies, without losing any of the flavour of the lamb or meat and vegetables. The ‘Red Sauce’ served with the starter is amazing and the poppadoms are crisp and fresh. We love a curry and have sampled many. None near as good as this. Some places have marble floors and chrome everywhere, bright and trendy, playing the latest tunes, but the food never really made it. Sunam does, it is traditional in style, and yes maybe a makeover would ruin the place. It’s clean and tidy. The staff take pride in setting the tables and doing an excellent job of looking after the customers and the food is amazing. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you like good quality Indian cuisine, go here. Hopefully they’ll go from strength to strength and open more houses closer to me. Just try it, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve gotta say it’s a little bit hyped up it is fairly average staff nice enough starters are dry and a little rubbery on the shish kebab almost if they have been warmed I’ve had a lot better however the main curry I had garlic and chilli based was considerable better than the starter I would go back but only for a regular meal not for for anything special birthdays or extended family etc my other niggle is staff are nice enough but not really that attentive struggle catch their attention once meal has landed on the table

Stopped in Blackpool over night on the 13th January and decided to try here, we were not disappointed what a lovely place, staff were very friendly food was fantastic, and we were given a complimentary baileys at the end of our meal, what a lovely touch would highly recommend if you are visiting Blackpool

There is a terrific choice of meals and plenty of vegetarian options as well. Good portions. We had sharing plate as a starter, plenty of food & good selection.

Visited new years eve did not book but we just waited for a table.food and service fabulous was very busy but the waiters kept stopping to check we were satisfied.

Three friends and I visited the Sunam on Friday 27th December 2019 we were on holiday from Edinburgh and our host thought a visit to his local restaurant was a good idea and boy was he correct, the food was excellent and beautifully cooked, we all had different dishes and all were delicious, but on top off that the friendly staff made our visit so memorable an excellent meal in all respects.

My brother recommended Sunam to me 2 years ago and this was the first chance I had to go. It was well worth the wait. The food was marvellous and lots of it too. The service was very good also.

Never visited before as live in South Shore anyway we decided to give it a go booked for 5.30 but got severely delayed building an Ikea desk for our granddaughter!!! we ended up arriving just before 7 not holding out any hope. Well what wonderful helpful understanding staff sat us in a lovely booth without a fuss and no problem.The food was excellent freshly prepared and so tasty again staff were polite and informative when we asked re certain dishes. Finally to round off an excellent evening we were presented with a bottle bag and Christmas greetings on leaving (on opening it contained a bottle of shiraz) Thanks to everyone at Sunam we will be back soon x

Best Indian in Blackpool! Food quality and sevice first class. Fantastic menu, food freshly cooked and piping hot. What a lovely gesture.... all customers given a gift bag containing a bottle of wine on leaving!

Went here on the back of some really great reviews. But now that I have experienced it first hand it is exceptionally terrible. Visited with my wife, sister and nephew. Ordered our drinks, starters and meals etc. Our starters arrived mine being the "mixed grill", Nephew a "butterfly King prawn". What an absolute joke, we broke open the huge deep fried "King Prawn" to find hardly anything inside. Pulled up the main waiter and all and sundry who work there came over to see what the issue was. When we explained we were told that this is what it is supposed to be, a huge dollop of fried batter with about 5% prawn... three times!!! My starter was diabolical, everything deep fried, hardly anything on the plate for nearly £6 and totally tasteless. 90p for a single poppadum which was stale, and £3.80 for a single portion of rice, and terrible chutney tray. Dont mind paying over the odds but for sub standard fare it was ridiculous. Fortunately we managed to cancel the main meal just before it arrived. All we got from the waiters and some guy that stands near the till scanning the customers like Himmler to see if you dare complain was derisory looks. We recently moved from the north west and are very accustomed to what a proper curry should be. Steer well clear unless you have no idea of what decent food is then maybe it is for you.

Food is fantastic, we have had takeaway several times from here and cannot complain about the food at all. Although expensive for takeaway but it is restaurant prices the food is wonderful everytime. I went into the restaurant once to collect the food rather than delivery and thought the interior was a bit dark but that's the only negative I can see. Would definitely recommend!

Just ordered a takeaway, poppadoms soggy and stale. They must have known this and just palmed them off to us to make 10 pence extra profit, pathetic.

been coming here years eat in and take out and introduced many people but last night was a shocker jalfrezi tasteless an watery chips overcooked or cooked twice chilli an cheese naan came with cheese slices in the middle making it soggy rang up an spoke to manager an asked if they'd changed chef i was told no which surprised me so told him the problem and he replied if you only had one complaint id do something about it but for everything i can't!!!! when i questioned the cheese slices he said what other cheese did you expect? erm certainly not kraft slices thats processed cheese and doesn't state that on the menu!!! anyway i said id leave a review which he didn't give a hoot about so here it is ......

We visited the Sunam on my birthday and 4 days overdue, it was suggest in jest to go for a curry to help bring on the labour. We were a group of 7 who got served very quickly,I opted for a chicken tikka balti which was very tasty and much to my surprise I was in labour the next morning! So a massive thankyou to your chefs for the labour inducing balti!! Highly recommend for anyone overdue and uncomfortable!! 5*'s!!!!

We have eaten here before and raved about the food and service. However, we were here on 2nd November and unfortunately were disappointed. Our bottle of red wine was served very cold, not room temperature. When we pointed this out to a waiter, he argued that we were wrong, with no apology or offer to change the wine. The food was OK, but certainly not the standard as we have had previously. Also, waiters were 'throwing' cutlery into trays just next to us whilst we were eating, and making so much noise we could hardly hear to have a conversation. Again, very rude with no regard for customers trying to enjoy their meals and evening. This is all very disappointing, and we may not return, given the rudeness we experienced.

Was recommended this place by our guest house and was not disappointed. We had a four course meal and the food was just perfect. We were also very pleased with the price! Service was excellent, very friendly helpful staff. It was very busy so I advise you to book in advance.

Arrived at 8pm on a busy Saturday night. Had 4 poppadoms, tray of chutney, Chicken Naga, Chicken Makhani, Pillau Rice, Naan, a beer, bottle of Prosecco and bottle of Shiraz. Food fabulous, service friendly and a lovely evening without being rushed.

Took my wife for a beautiful curry tonight,the service was first class the restaurant is lovely and clean would reccomend to anyone.

Moved to the area 3 years ago and have only just found a curry house that takes interest in serving you want you want..in my partners case the hottest phal ever!! They listened and served what he requested! Very friendly and welcoming staff. Like sitting in our own booth, not too close to the next table but notice how accommodating they are for larger groups.Not looking to go anywhere else now, the food is good reasonably priced and friendly staff.

Visited here as a group of four for dinner. This is the first Indian I’ve visited in Blackpool. I eat Indian food a lot and this was in my opinion a first class meal. Great food great service and a great price.

We have been coming here for years and we know that it’s the best Indian restaurant for miles. The guys here are brilliant, professional and very helpful when choosing dishes. We are local so just have a short walk. We order a variety of dishes between us. I’m veggie, hubby isn’t so between us we have had most of the menu by now and it’s all delicious. Always a pleasure to eat here.

For over a year we have been trying to find a good indian as its mine and my partners favourite food and finally we have found one the food is amazing staff are so friendly and we even ordered for delivery one day and the delivery driver was amazing told us if we order over the app instead of just eat it's cheaper cant fault them at all would recommend anyone in blackpool to eat here

Tremendous curry house in Blackpool well worth a visit quickly seated and served no wonder it’s one of the best in pools

Always come here for special occasions with family and at least twice a month for takeaway food. I’ve been having Sunam for the past 3 years and no other Indian comes close. The meat is chunky and juicy and the sauce is always very flavoursome. The staff are also brilliant, whenever I go in to collect my food they always make an effort to have a conversation with me. I would always recommend this place!!

Called in by chance.Made welcome and given a table .Service friendly and helpfull.Menu has plenty of options and prices are ok. Poppadoms and chutney v good. Had a mixed starter- excellent and the Sunam special mixed tandoori grill which was spot on. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic meal from start to finish. Food was excellent as was the friendly atmosphere and superb service. Well worth a visit and very reasonably priced. Lovely evening with a free baileys on ice before we left.

We were a party of six and decided to have an Indian meal on the recommendation of friends that here been here recently. We were not disappointed as the meals we ordered were excellent. The meals was served quickly, despite the fact that it was a Friday evening and quite busy. I personally had a Tandoori Mixed Grill and the rest of our party all tried something different. No one was dissatisfied with their meals and all of us were very happy with the very efficient and pleasant staff.

I can’t say enough about this place, top excellent service, staff extremely friendly and can’t do enough for you, spotlestly clean, every dish I have eaten is cooked to perfection and never had a complaint to say about it, the takeaway service is brilliant also.

booking here was a last minute thing (3 days before) for a surprise 60th meal for 14 people, so I was a slightly apprehensive that was enough seats available. I shouldn't have been. everything about the food and service was great. every person ordered something different from the menu and we all enjoyed our meals, there was plenty and it all came out together piping hot. the waiting staff we very friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and they didn't mind that we had a toddler with us who brought his own snacks!

Popped in for evening meal. Didn't realise it wasn't licenced and maybe wouldn't have. Glad we did. Food was plentiful and very good. Great price for set meal. Would definately eat there again

Despite living locally for many years, we have another good Indian within walking distance so had never tried this place, despite friends recommending it. So I finally went a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. We had the mid-week 4 course special which has lots of choice and everything we had (3 of us all ordered something different to try each others) was superb. Excellent and polite service made this feel like a special occasion rather than a mid-week catch up with the girls. Will be back very soon !
