Subway in Dumfries & Galloway

I recently visited this subway with my husband. I made up my own sub and the staff couldn’t of been more attentive. Great service. Will visit again soon

Shop was full with people queuing out the door, didn’t make any difference to this lot, no urgency and just looked like they weren’t bothered. Oh and buying water in Subway is more expensive than buying petrol ! Will never go back. Shocking service and poor attitude.

Normally when visiting Gretna Gateway, I use the other food outlets, but as these had long queues due to COVID restrictions, I decided to use Subway. All I can say is they can't be faulted on the huge range of sandwiches and wraps, with a variety of sizes, contents and prices, but the sandwiches themselves are nothing memorable like most other Subways. £ 2.90 for a six inch Subway is OK for Gretna, but the cheese and pepperoni sandwich I had was mediocre, with the cheese being like processed cheese and the pepperonis, while generous in size, reminded me of a supermarket pizza.I suppose it was a case of needs must as I wanted something quick to eat before heading back to the M6 and I will complement Subway on their quick and friendly service, but their sandwiches are nothing outstanding and not particularly cheap.

I was absolutely disgusted by the lack of interest that the Staff showed in my order as they were so busy having a conversation of their own and then when I asked for the gloves to be changed as no attention was being paid to the Cross contamination of meat when id clearly asked for a vegetarian sandwich, which resulted in the rude staff member muttering to her colleague about me!!!! Very very disappointing, I had driven 200 miles and had only stopped to get sandwiches and something to drink...I guess its not easy getting staff or do you not care how customers are treated?

I’m a vegetarian but didn’t get a sandwich the cheese was all over the place with meat bits actually in the cheese, the place was a mess and no offer to change gloves and stop wiping the surfaces down with your gloves please

This place should be avoided at all costs.!!!!! It is serviced by animals butchered in a inhumane manner.

Food is as you would expect but some of the staff could do with customer service training. No smiles or manners for some of them , would rather talk to each other. Apart from that convenient location and seating outside.

The menu is a wee bit different than the Canadian one, which makes sense. The same great service and smiling staff. Tried a different bread and it was a good experience. Located right in the outlet area and convenient and well priced.

Ordered 2 Sanswiches the older Lady serving gave off a poor attitude and everything was too much bother. The Young Girls that are normaly making the food are so much better and smile and chat. The food was ok but the service was poor.

I'm normally a Gregg's breakfast fan, but there isn't one here, and had time to kill. Ordered the bacon and cheese and it was really rather good. Decent coffee, decent service, all you could really ask for.

Just walked in to one abrupt rude individual. No acknowledgment when I was waiting at the counter. Challenged me on what I said I had ordered. Needless to say I walked out

Can't go wrong with a subway. Quick. Delicious. Tasty. Reasonably priced. Love it. Plenty choice. Would recommend.

The shop has same layout and selection of food available. Seating inside and outside. Clean and tidy shop.

Subway is a solid place to get a snack, and they even have a vegan option now, but what about the Guten free people in the world today. Lost a point as all the tables inside were grubby.

Service was friendly for us, the usual efficient questions and resulting good sandwich. It proved a good stop-off for lunch on our way "up north".

weve just visited today and the service was terrible!! the shop itself wasnt busy but the 5 staff behind the counter where to busy talking about Netflix to even notice the customers.

The food here is good I had a voucher for 2 x 6 inch subs with drink and crisps good value. I asked if I could change cold drink for tea or coffee prepared to pay difference told no you must have what is on the voucher. What a waste I don’t drink fizzy drinks. 0 out of 10 for customer service.

You know when the shop is busy that it is a popular place to visit. A nice tasty lunch of nachos and salsa etc. Disappointed they didn't sell hot soup on a cold day.

This Sub seems to be very popular, the food is exactly what you would expect from Subway. There is a downside with this outlet if you want to sit in. The queue goes right past the tables, and you will have folk standing right at your table, when we were in, there was nobody sitting in, it was a nice day, but I would find this very off-putting.

Sorry but subway is usually consistent wherever you are but this was worst ever. Fell to pieces and far too much mayo. Busy shop and staff friendly. Bread good but thats it.

First time visiting a subway, I just played safe and asked for chicken tikka with mayo on a 6 inch, I asked for it warm, the girls looked no older than school age and not one of them smiled, the server smothered my Chicken Tikka in that much mayo it was oosing out, she put it in the oven for no longer than 30 seconds it was still cold, it was now also ruined with mayo and I couldn’t eat it, my husband had been before and he said it was the worse one he had ever been, his was freezing too

Got a snack from here on the way back from a family wedding at Gretna Green. Very clean and tidy. Great choice of filling. Reasonable price.

My husband and I stopped off at Gretna for a break.

The tuna sandwich was fine, but the woman that made and served it was not very friendly. Just blunt. And it seemed if you asked for any little change to anything it was a big deal. Maybe she was just having a tough day. I decided to go with that and not complain.

Lovely fresh varied bread baguettes, which you choose your own filler for, also great selection of cookies, it isfantastic value for money at £3 for a sandwich and hot drink. The only problem with this place is it is far to small internally. There are tables and chairs inside the shop, but not very comfortable to sit at when take away customers are queuing right beside your table. We have visited during the summer which is much better as there is a large outside seating area, but in the winter months would opt for a take away rather than a sit in option. Great pit stop option if travelling on the nearby Moterway, as clean toilets adjacent to the shop.

Went for breakfast 3 female staff were working and the girl on the till very rude and then trying to stare me out as I sat at table. Attitude was terrible it was like 3 stroppy teenagers in chargeawful.

We received overbearing service by a girl who seems incapable of listening to her customers needs as she dictated where we stood and what we wanted. Abrupt to the point of being discourteous we would not return to this subway branch but subway is one of my favourite snacks shacks so I would recommend every other subway....bar this one.

Subways have now got the knack of being universal across every franchise and this o e is no different. Lots to choose from and very convenient on your doorstep if you are shopping in Gretna and fancy a quick bite to eat. Great subway.

This quite possibly the worst subway we have been in. I ordered a 6inch for my son with salad when I was asked if I wanted anything else when I said no the girl screwed up her face. Next order was another 6inch with just ham agian she screwed up her face as shook her head.

What more is there to say. Good food, good service. Staff were very efficient. Much better value than some of the other food outlets. Outside seating area was very cleam and tidy.

Nice standard subway shop. Part of a chain and like lots of other subway shops we have eaten in. Nice standard food and service. Exactly what you would expect from a Subway.

I came here for a quick lunch today, ordered the nachos with cheese, salsa and jalapeños. They were very tasty and they were good value for money and I will definitely be back for more.

Sin embargo, las mesas estaban cubiertos de pegatinas sándwich que hizo que el comer en una zona sucia. Usual good selection subs to choose from, which were made by friendly pleasant staff, who were very proficient in making the subs.

Very good service. Staff helpful. Always enjoy this stop just over the border for my favourite meatball marinara.

Always enjoy a subway, fresh and tasty every time, one thing I di like was the lass who was serving us as if I would like her to change her gloves as I do not eat meat, very thoughtful and much appreciated

Nothing special. Subs made in record time. New drinks dispenser was a fun experience. Meatballs could have been slightly hotter. Quick and easy.

Went to subway and ordered my usual sub after a christmas shop at the gateway. Two young girls possibly called Devlin and Shay served me and were extremely pleasant, will be back.

I had a salad bowl not the best one I've had it was skimpy and the staff were not very friendly. Shop was cramped people pushing past each other

While walking around the outlet centre saw Subway and fancied a sandwich as getting near lunch time, not been in one for a while but was not expecting two 6inch sandwich's to come to over 7 pound...while it might be made how you want, its hardly value for money. (Dread to think what the footlongs would have cost) Ended up buying and eating these without a drink and going to costa Coffee for a Hot Chocolate and cake. The service and cleanness where ok. Would not return

Went for something to eat while at Days Inn for the night. Subway always provide fresh food the way you want it.

There's a fine line between fast efficient service and irritating, pushy awful service. I have no doubt that the robot that was serving me was following the subway training to the letter but starts the next question before I've finished answering the first is simply rude and not good customer service. I had four different sandwiches to remember and I was a stressed wreck by the time is been rushed down the service line. Not good at all!

This was the first time I had visited a Subway but decided to try it after seeing a young man eating a box of nachos from there! It all seem a bit chaotic and very confusing but I did end up with the nachos that were so reasonably priced and actually quite nice. I may try a different Subway to try the nachos again!

Have visited this many times as it is convenient, However not sure I will be back.It has never been the best run Subway but I feel after there price increase and reduced quality of food and service it no longer represents value for money.Costa opposite is a little more expensive but worth it as it has much nicer and cleaner surroundings and better food and service.

Not enough staff a cramped little narrow area to queue to give your order and staff that l can only describe as anal, would l use this takeaway again, absolutely not.

Was fresh and hot me and my partner enjoyed our subs will definitely be back again soon always enjoy a subway as you know everything's fresh

I visited subway at Gretna gateway on 13/01/16 the service was fantastic shop spotless the staff super efficient best salad bowl ever!!!!!!

Grabbed a quick sandwich which wasn't that quick. They look at you like your an intrusion and are upset you've asked for something. Typical subway.

Great selection of sandwiches with a wide variety of breads and fillings,sadly let down by the tatty seating area,would not sit in,but good as a takeaway.

Not a good idea to sit inside - they have squeezed in three rows of tables and people queuing to order stick their backsides against you as you eat.Sullen staff, in far too much of a hurry to properly pay attention to what you are asking for. Food is just ok for what you expect from Subways.When paying for our sandwiches I asked for glasses of tap water for my granddaughter and myself. I was told that they are not allowed to give us tap water. I asked why. Told that it is unfit for consumption. Really worrying in a food establishment.

I went to this subway to have a bite. When I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich, the way they put the steak was to use a scoop to put the meat on the bread. The amount of steak was just probably half the scoop just enough to cover the 6 in sandwich that I ordered. Usually on different subway stores they use 1 full scoop for a 6in steak and cheese sandwich. when I was paying and used the subway app. They scanned the code but didnt put the points of my transactions. Next time will just be going to some local sandwich shop!

Ate here as I fancied trying the pulled pork sandwich . Looked nothing like the photo but they never do however it tasted great so that was the main thing . Staff could have been a little more pleasant it's not that hard to smile .

Busy but still worth waiting for. Lovely fresh salads and tasty breads, great value for money. Handy as in the Gateway Village.

Normally look forward to my footlong BMT on herb and cheese, not toasted topped with ample lettuce red onion and extra jalapeño.. Throw in a bottle of water and I think that's me fiver well spent. However this time I was to be extremely disappointed. Firstly no herb and cheese bread, ok forgive able, I'll have hearty Italian instead, nope, none left sorry. Ok so Italian it is then! Then onto the choice of meats and cheese, all standard amounts per sandwich so No problems there. Salad options all available and yes maybe I should have been paying more attention to the meagre sprinkling I got, but blimey I think I have dropped more out of a previous subs than I got in the entire foot long sub!! A pitiful scrapping of lettuce a minute helping of red onion and my request for extra jalapeño resulting in perhaps enough chopped jalapeños cover the index finger of a small child!! No where near its usual standards, me thinks this could be down to my server, never caught a name, perhaps just as well. Yes profit margins may be tight but by my reckoning the size of salad I got x4 and maybe just maybe that would suffice!!Be vigilant folks and make sure u tell em you want more!! Dam sure I will next time!!!

worst subway ever, kids sub was about 1 1/2 inches instead of 4 inches like it's meant to be, staff are ignorant, horrible place, avoid like the plague, not enough seating either though nice bit outside if you can get seated otherwise expect to stand to eat it

The food is the same as any Subway and I'm sure there must be some pleasant staff but unfortunately I don't seem to ever have been served by one as most of them seem to be rude and impatient, I know they are busy but a bit of common courtesy for the customers who are keeping them in a job would be nice.

It's a Subway. They are all pretty much the same inside, aren't they? They all have that same wallpaper. This one has a covered external seated area that other Subways don't have, so I suppose this makes it better than most of the other ones. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy our subway rolls and a drinks on nice days.
