Stratton House in Central Bedfordshire

Room needed a lot of attention. Tired and run down. Needs a lot of touch ups. Drains on floor. Found a hair in my cup. Wouldn’t stay again

I previously stayed here 10 years ago. I’m pleased to say that the hotel has kept its charm and character. It is a good, no nonsense hotel and not a soulless corporate copycat. All of the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. I will always give an honest review, therefore here are my criticisms and observations. The room was clean and recently decorated, however the en-suite bathroom did come across as being tired, the mattress was a little hard the the pillows quite thin. Breakfast, the waitress was very polite and friendly and we were served coffee very quickly and given a menu, the menu is very good, but the service was quite slow, the coffee went cold and there was no sign of the waitress coming to take our order, the table next to ours was not cleared. I waited for 15 minutes and was running out of time before I needed to leave so I decided to leave, I told the manager at reception that I was not happy and he persuaded me to stay promising a speedy breakfast. Once seated at the same table he cleared the table next to mine, and took the order. I did ask for my egg to be well done, but when it arrived it was undercooked, he quickly rectified this and the breakfast was very good. In summary, the hotel is good, but not perfect, the staff are very friendly and helpful, they dealt with me and my complaint very well and quickly. I would return. I hope that this review is helpful and hope that the hotel view it and my criticisms as constructive.

Booked 2 nights while visiting the Shuttleworth Collection because of the proximity, but the stay added so much more value than expected. The staff were wonderfully lovely - I regretfully did not get any names, but we had such pleasant interactions with everyone, especially the man we spoke to on check-in, and the woman who served breakfast Saturday morning; they were so incredibly warm and welcoming. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet despite being right in the town centre. The breakfast was lovely, cooked perfectly and service was perfect throughout our stay. We would happily return again.

Pre-booked room via a booking agency, meant sadly I got a single bed small room, in the lower numbered rooms. The service here was excellent, and the food was even better. Front of house was very pleasant. I really enjoyed the English breakfast, Shasuka, plus the Pancakes, bacon and Ice cream was a real treat for breakfast too.

I stayed for three nights at this hotel. The location of it was ideal as it's close to the Biggleswade train and bus stations, the staff were friendly and the restaurant part of the hotel seemed ok; however, the room itself was not great. The bathroom needed a deep clean as there was limescale in the sink and mould in the bath. The bathroom door handle was also falling off. In the bedroom the mattress was deeply uncomfortable with just a sheet to cover it (no mattress protector), the pillows were lumpy, the kettle was filled with limescale and the cups were dirty. For the price of the stay I would not recommend it.

A gem of a Hotel, staff are excellent, fair priced food and drink, and the food is way above excellent, it is superb.. if you are in the area I would highly recommend you visit this great hotel for lunch or dinner, you will NOT be disappointed.

Food awful , service rubbish apart from one woman who was spot on. Too may chiefs standing around doing nothing. Food was lunch time menu and was on the same par as fish friday at infant school. No presentation dry and very over priced. Went there for birthday treat , it was spoilt. Never again.

Great stay and restaurant. Amazing effort into the menu and cocktails! Friendly staff, special thanks to Alfie who made me laugh and really went the extra mile. Definitely the place to stay if you're in the Biggleswade area!

Overall a decent hotel, felt like it was once a really nice hotel that someone has decided they won't put money into anymore and it's gotten a bit run down. Noise travelled really badly both in from the street due to the old drafty windows and in from the hallway. Rooms were clean if a little basic same with the bathroom clean if a little old fashioned. Would stay again if I was in the area but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Went there for coffee with a group of friends. Fantastic service, nice atmosphere, and competitive price. I will definitely go again.

Stayed one night, the room was very clean spacious even tea and coffee which was a nice touch, the full English breakfast was delicious I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

Beer wasn't great, decor dated.

Very pleased with the Staff at Stratton House Hotel! So friendly! Especially Jenny who is very kind and chatty and it’s quite rare to see a lovely bar person so polite! It’s 5 stars all the way from me and definitely recommend visiting here. It’s just so brilliant! I’m definitely coming back and you never know this might be my favourite place to have a pint now. See how things go but yes such a lovely place and amazing Staff.

Extremely poor hotel, needs maintenance desperately. Heating in the rooms was poor or did not work at all. Also, assigned a room that already had someone in it. Very badly run hotel along a noisy high street.
