What a fantastic place. The surroundings were exeptional and the staff friendly and attentive. The food was superb, cooked and served to perfection. Deserts were also home made and delicious. We will be back there very soon.

Unusual venue for lunch out, but really worth visiting! Beautiful old building with a rather grand dining room. Food freshly cooked and delicious. Small menu and you need to book as food is presumably ordered depending on the bookings. The day we went, Chef was alone as her assistant had been called away. She was apologetic in case there was a “wait “, ( there wasn’t), and she could not have been more helpful. After an excellent lunch, we adjourned to the lounge for coffee, with views over the garden. All very pleasant!

Unusual venue and a beautiful room ! Excellent food, cooked and served by the lady chef who was alone that day as her waitress had been called away. Despite being on her own, food and service was first class . We then relaxed in the lounge overlooking the tranquil garden, and coffee was brought to us. A very enjoyable, restful family lunch.

I booked a Afternoon Tea here with my extended family to celebrate coming out of Intensive Care. The venue is a large oak Panelled room overlooking the Estates gardens. We want to say a big thank you to all involved at front of house as well as behind on a fantastic experience, the food was delicious , there was no scrimping on the sandwich fillings and the pasties and cakes were m. M. M first class, Lemon Tart was a favourite. There was more than enough food for everyone., the service was kind caring and efficient without being intrusive. My personal thanks to the lady that was in charge of that one the day! The whole family enjoyed the whole experience and we will definitely book this venue again for a yearly get together as well as just the two of us as a teat. Thank you again Paul and Debbie.

We three booked lunch (and emailed our choices) in advance. One ordered a starter (whitebait - excellent), then for main course (risotto for one- best ever!), and two Pork belly (absolutely wonderful). Then for desserts we had lemon tart (really lovely) and 2 shared salted caramel gateau (wow). I was pleased to learn they had alcohol-free lager for me, the others a decent red wine. Good, friendly and helpful service, all within a very nice, comfortable dining room. Yes, we can recommend it highly, and yes we enjoyed it immensely and will return for sure!

We had the most marvellous experience here! A wonderful cream tea with lots of tea and coffee, served in the lounge of this magnificent building. Everything was just perfect, the food, the friendly service and the surroundings. We had a short walk around the beautiful building and we shall definitely return to sample the lunchtime cooking. We left on a high with this experience!

Wonderful lunch yesterday. We have been to this restaurant before but Covid has intervened and it’s good that standards have been maintained and even improved. I had the cheese on toast to start and the risotto. Beautifully cooked and very friendly service in an amazing building. We loved it and will definitely be back.

Have lunched here several times and can highly recommend. The food choices are varied with something for everyone. The menu changes about every three months. All the food is freshly cooked and is excellently presented and is delicious. The staff are so welcoming and helpful too. Coffee may be taken at the table or in the lounge where you can relax after your meal. The building is amazing and worth a visit in its own right. We will be back!

This stunning building is a hidden gem and the restaurant is fantastic. 18 of us had lunch there and everyone loved it. The food was amazing and we all had different choices which all arrived together . The staff are so friendly and efficient and make you feel really special. All the food was beautifully presented and delicious. It is a joy to find a peaceful atmosphere in a dining room these days where you don't have to shout to make yourself heard. After your meal you can retire to the lounge for coffee and you feel so relaxed you don't want to leave! We can all highly recommend this place and we will all be returning.

Everything about this restaurant is superb. You are made to feel special the minute you walk into the amazing building. Nothing is too much trouble, ambience is special. The food is extremely well cooked and the chef Marta came and introduced herself, ensuring we had enjoyed our meal. Our waiter was John, who was attentive without being over powering.

A hidden DIAMOND! 5 STAR! What a fantastic restaurant - we went as a party of 16 for Sunday lunch and they could not have been more accomodating. The dining room has been exquisitly restored, reminding me of a decadent, old Scottish castle (without the draughts)....such a friendly atmosphere in a historic surrounding. Staff were incredibly attentive, discrete and service was impeccable (it reminded me of Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester!). The food was delicious, on hot plates and very finely presented (I had the Sunday roast pork: which had a crisp sliver of Crackling lain invitingly across my plate - yum!!) perfect portion sizes and we were even given extra Roast Potatoes - HUZZAH!! The House white was a very light Pinot Grigio, very quaffable. The deserts were homemade, light and again, beautifully presented. Given the quality of food, staff attentiveness (it felt like we had a private room) and the incredible ambience we were astonished by how reasonably priced the entire meal was. WE WILL BE BACK! An extraordinary building in the Priory retirement village. The ceiling in the dining room and the fireplace are worth the visit even without the the food which is beautifully prepared and served. Good menu with reasonable prices. The tables aren't packed together and with the high ceiling, the thick carpet and drapes you can actually hear what your companion is saying. At lunch yesterday the other guests were all residents or friends of residents. They were all very friendly recommending parts of the building to visit. We thought it was great and will certainly return.

I have already reviewed this Restraunt but accidently only gave it 2☆ when in fact it should have been 5☆ as it is such a beautiful place and food fab service good. And such an old building. I've known it since the early 70s

The Stonehill Dining Room has the perfect venue for a family lunch of 30. The food was excellent and I couldn't imagine better service. The staff really looked after us and gave us lots of flexibility of what we wanted from our day, including yummy canapes before lunch and tea/coffee afterwards to have with the cake we provided. I couldn't recommend chef Marta and her team any more.

The temptation is, of course, is to keep this secret to ourselvesBut such is the splendor of this unusual restaurant and setting that the world should know about itThe Gothic Hogwarts look-alike building is a bit daunting on arrival but one step into the majestic opulence reveals a sumptuous, warm and inviting interior with deep leather Chesterfield sofas and more in palatial and tastefully decorated reception roomsThe Boughton Room, Reception Hall and Stonehill Dining Room are breath taking and extremely comfortableThen, of course, there is Marta's tempting and reasonably priced menu which includes such starters as Whitebait, Stuffed Mushrooms and more. The main courses are varied and interesting with Chicken Breasts, Lamb Rump, Salmon et alia. There is usually a "special". And an interesting array of light bites is available For desserts there is such as Caramelized Apple Crumble, Bread and Butter pudding, Waffles and moreThe attractively presented courses are served by enthusiastic and charismatic young staff plus Mike, a retired but irrepressible resident of Holy Cross priory, who takes great pride in all that is there. The restaurant is fully licencedFor the Summer months there is also a fine terrace with solid wooden tables, chairs and parasolsEverything at Holy Cross Priory is of the highest qualityWe are great fans of Marta, Andy, Mike and all else who run this unique placeWhat more can I say? Please do give it a try !!!!David & Pat Crafts

Had a really good vintage afternoon tea here for a large family group. We were looked after very well and the sandwiches, cakes and scones, cream and jam all disappeared very quickly! Such a friendly place and lovely surroundings.

Gracias
