Stock & Bailey Wine Bar in Colchester

We went for a friends birthday, booked a table at 7:30pm. The bar wasn’t awfully busy but we were not greeted. We weren’t presented with menus, in fact we had a menu thrown at us, with a tut!! It was awful service, we weren’t even seated. All it takes is a nice conversation. Bare in mind, we were a table of 7, you lost a lot of money tonight!! More fool you! Sort it out! Christ! Rude! So unimpressed!! We walked out and went somewhere else! Would not recommend!

Stock and Bailey provided a superb buffet lunch for a post Baptism party on Sunday and I can't praise them highly enough. The food turned up exactly on time, beautifully presented, with special diets well catered for.I know they had an exceptionally busy day that day, but nothing was too much trouble. Compostable plates, serviettes and forks were all part of the service. well done and thank you!

Two friends and I were in Colchester for a short break and chanced upon this wine bar. What a lucky find! We had drinks and shared a charcuterie and cheese board. The food was delicious and amazing value for money - the two boards were ample for the three of us. The service was quick, efficient and charming, and the Covid precautions reassuring. It was a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere, with great music. It wasn’t very busy, perhaps because it was mid-week, but I hope it is a big success because it really deserves to be.

Had a great evening out and about, Daisy our waitress was amazing, 10/10 would recommend if you after a calm and classy evening.

Absolutely brilliant first time here. Daisy was cheery and absolutely lovely. Wine was fantastic and she even made us espresso martinis - best we have ever tasted! Would love to come again - especially for a wine tasting event!

If you’re looking for somewhere to have a drink and a relaxed meal with your partner or a small group of friends, Stock and Bailey is the perfect venue. We have visited a few times now and since the Tapas menu has been introduced we have not been disappointed. The food is good and reasonably priced and the service is very friendly. Even when the bar is busy the staff go out of their way to serve you at your table and are always very helpful. This is another one of those finds in Colchester that deserves to be really busy and popular. Try it, you won’t be sorry.

I love this place! Been twice now for wine and tapas evenings with friends - great atmosphere and delicious food, we pretty much had one of everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. Friendly service staff and reasonably priced - feel like you’ve been “out out” without having to venture too far into the town centre!

was told only the Shares stuff was being served no Tapas............told the chap we'd come a long way for usual good lunch of Tapas etc and wine....this seemed to get the chap grinning.......has this place changed hands?

I recently met up for drinks and lunch with old friend on offer was a very good selection of tapas dishes which were were enjoyed by all. The staff are warm and welcoming. We all agreed to return to Stock and Bailey next time we meet in Colchester. Thanks for a great memorable first experience ! Keep up the good work. Well done. Credit to you.

Perfect place to have pre dinner drinks, staff are very friendly and attentive. Just a shame they are not open on a Sunday afternoon, think they are missing a treat! Have had the tapas in the past, the garlic prawns are lovely....look forward to going back very soon.

Took a local friend who lives nearby for some tapas and a drink. We’ve been quite a number of times. Good food and lovely coffee. Polite and attentive service. Couldn’t fault that. However, I don’t think its a great experience when a very known rough sleeper spends his time loitering in the venue, charging his phone and sending text messages, talking on his phone loudly and smoking a roll up in the door way. Not quite what we expected from Stock and Bailey.

This is such a lovely wine bar. They serve a wide range of gins and flavoured tonics. The wines are great with a good choice and informed staff to guide you. There is a good tapas menu, but I recommend the platters, four different types which come with bread and accompaniments. The wine bar is much bigger inside than it seems with several separate areas as you go further into the building.

What a disappointment! This place looked great when we viewed online but it’s all style over substance. Having been to many regions of Spain I found the tapas menu very unauthentic and what we did order was frankly inedible. I’m also convinced one of my glasses of wine was corked, though the staff in this “wine bar” needed to be educated on what this means. Laughable really! I don’t like to post negative reviews, but having looked forward to visiting all we were left with was a sour taste. We won’t be going back a second time!

This is a review of the Sudbury stock and bailey. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left the service, food and atmosphere was exactly what we wanted. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were very attentive without being too much. The food was very tasty and more than reasonably priced. There were lots of little plates that were packed with flavour. The paella was amazing and the little chorizo was gorgeous. Atmosphere was nice and casual with the building being nicely done up. Really enjoyed the calmness without any overpowering music. Best restaurant in Sudbury by a long way just what Sudbury needed- a beautiful place to eat. Can’t wait to go back!

Love it here, the staff are nice, the wines are excellent & the tapas is really good too. It has a lovely atmosphere & has good beers on tap to keep the old man happy. Keep up the good work.

Visited this venue based on previous reviews. Was thoroughly underwhelmed. Staff seemed uninterested. Drinks were poured quickly but what I would expect. Perhaps I came on the wrong day but not what I was expecting

It's exactly what Colchester was missing. A lovely little bar with a great selection of wines and spirits, friendly staff and classy interior. Good is spot on as well. The tapas menu is incredible. Love this bar.

Great menu very reasonably priced good service Tapas is just such a good way to spend an evening or pop in for a snack and a drink We could have worked our way through the whole menu! Will be back asap

Second visit and love it. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Amazing tapas. Not the fastest food but we haven’t been in a rush and therefore the wait hasn’t bothered us in the slightest. Can’t wait to go back!!!!

Wasn't planning on dinner but stopped for a glass of wine and looked at the menu! The food was lovely. I had squid! Very good portion, prawns, buttery and garlicky and lovely bread basket. I would highly recommend!

Had been elsewhere for a meal and just popped in for a last drink before heading home, made to feel welcome as soon as we entered, ordered two glasses of Pinot which turned out to be an absolute beauty. Looking forward to returning and trying food from the excellent looking Tapas menu.

What I particularly like is the quality of the service. Unfortunately I do not have the name of the waitress but she is excellent. Firstly you are warmly greeted with a genuine smile and if you proceed immediately to a table instead of going to the bar she will let you settle down and walk round to take your order and bring it back to your table. Moreover she will actually ask if you want to taste the wine and pour it for you. Incredibly she will not demand immediate payment either. Amazing actual real old style service!!! Love it. If I ran a bar she is exactly what you want and is a fantastic asset. Her charm and engaging nature is such a rarity these days. Thank you and much appreciated.

Group of us girls went for drinks & tapas for a birthday, so impressed with the Tapas; tasty prawns, plenty of paella, lovely skewers a great evening all round.
