St.Elli's Bay in Carmarthenshire

Overpriced for average food. Good service and lovely location.

Saw this place reviewed on here, was in the area, popped along. It is right on the beach front. There is paid parking for the area directly bedside it. Easy access. Lots of signs when you enter. Bistro is upstairs but looked very pricey. I opted for the cafe on ground floor. Lots of seating, it was fairly busy Saturday around 12noon. Menus on table, order at the register with your table number. My coffee came within a minute, followed swiftly by the food. Large portions. The squid was nice (but looked like frozen pieces) rather than chef made. 3 large pieces of bacon in a bun (nothing on bun) the bacon was very salty, but I know bacon is, so it might just be me. Chips were fluffy and really big and tasty. Given everything I needed, cutlery, condiments etc. Left alone to eat (that is appreciated). Owner/manager saw I was finished and asked to clear plates, was able to finish my coffee. Didn't feel rushed. Used the facilities, clean. I paid 22.85£ maybe a pound or two above average, but you're paying for the location.

Had Sunday lunch here and whilst the veg Wes great the slow cooked belly pork was a bit dry, price is a bit high.

Stopped by for an ice cream, then later a coffee when it started raining. The matcha ice cream was delicious. As for the coffee, I was pleasantly surprised to find they serve proper macchiato (espresso macchiato), which is my favourite way to drink coffee, but pretty rare to find in the UK. They came across to double check that I didn't mean macchiato latte, so I guess it's a rare order, but I was delighted to see it on the menu. All the staff were happy and friendly, which is always a good sign.

Walked the dogs on the promenade and stopped off for an excellent all day sharing breakfast. Waitress was lovely. atmosphere and breakfast superb. Ingredients top notch.

Waiter was very accommodating, offering a choice of tables with different views and exposure to the sun, friendly and welcoming, didn't pester for order and even suggested substitutes for mushrooms and tomatoes as we don't like them. brought a side salad to make up for it which was well prepared. Meals where cooked well, and nicely presented, restaurant was clean and tidy, views were lovely. Couldn't find anything to have issue with to be fair. average price tag on a very pleasant experience

Great beach to visit with a good cafe and ice cream parlour just off the beach. Only let down by quite a bit of litter and dogs fouling the paths and dunes! It is a dog friendly area, but their owners have let them and the area down!

Everything was 100+. Delightful food to suit everyone. Very busy evening for the Staff who were excellent dealing with all ages of customers from 2 - 80+. Will definitely re-visit.

Had an amazing experience at St Elli Bay Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. What truly made the evening special was the staff — they were outstanding, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. A real gem of a place — can’t wait to return!

Ate here on the recommendation of a local. Attentive staff, reasonable prices, plenty of oarking spaces when we visited. Looking forward to return in the summer for a coffee and cake in the daylight to take in the sea views.

Bar and restaurant located on the beach near the old north dock. Called in for drinks. Bar prices a little steep but the location is lovely with views out over the bay to the Gower. Pay and display parking very close. Promenade along beach with cycle path. Lovely spot.

Lovely location on the seafront with the most wonderful views. There's an option to sit outside on the balcony. The restaurant's decor is lovely and very clean. Staff are welcoming and the food is delicious. They have set menu for 2 or 3 courses that's a great price but can order from the main menu. Parking is very near, but as its the Council car park, there is a charge. You can enjoy a lovely walk after your meal on the beautiful millennium coastal path just outside of the restaurant.

Great ice-cream and superb views

A lovely bistro, on the beautiful Millennium Coast Walk along Llanelli beach. The food was very good. I had a Caesar Salad, the first one I can remember having in the UK, where they actually include anchovies. Nice looking homemade cakes, and a booth selling delicious gelato outside. The staff were friendly and quick to serve and clear tables during the busy lunch rush, leaving no one waiting. This is no Michelin restaurant, but good freshly prepared food, at reasonable prices, in a lovely setting.

This was our 3rd visit to the Upstairs Brasserie area of St Elli's Bay. This time was for a family birthday celebration - we booked as our last meals there were great. The service was VERY slow. 45 mins before our food orders were taken and a long wait for it to arrive. Two meals were tepid on arrival. There was a one year old baby in our party and when his mum went to try and use the baby changing room, she found it locked for a very long time. It appeared that it was in use but during the evening we never saw anyone come out of it. She waited so long in fact, that her meal was going cold, untouched on the table. In the end she had to ask staff if there was another facility, make the trip downstairs to the other changing area and come back up. By then her food (and the baby's) was cold. When we mentioned to the staff that one of the other meals was tepid when it was served he just said he would mention it to the chef. On paying, this family member did receive her dessert for free as recompense. The waiter was not particularly friendly or happy. The waitress didn't know the difference between French and English mustard. French was requested but English was brought. Nice wine. Nice vegetarian options but they do vary - if you don't fancy what's on the menu it is worth asking for other alternatives as they sometimes have them. Asked for plain chicken and chips for a teenager and this was provided. We love having coffee and cake downstairs and after this experience I think we will stick to that - and the ice cream kiosk - we always have great service there. Very friendly chap in the kiosk.

Food is very good, and served very quickly. Prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants. With lovely views over the estuary.

Best Gelato in Wales - and great service from Service from Stefano and his crew. It's open from Feb 13th - go try some - I reccomend the Salted Caramel and the Mango - amazing! The reteraunt not as good as last year-not sure if new chef but its just a very ordinary menu, ordinary service and ordinary in every way now!!!

Lovely staff, good food and always enjoy the views. I've been here about five times when on holiday from Lincoln and it's always enjoyable. I hope to go again next time I'm in the area.

A lovely meal at St Elli's bay. The service was very friendly and efficient and the food was really delicious and interesting. As great wine list at reasonable prices. We would definitely go back again.

We went to StElli Bay Brasserie for lunch for our anniversary. The staff were very polite and friendly, atmosphere was lovely. Food was lovely, dessert was delicious, the presentation was very good. Would recommend it .

Called for breakfast, quickly seated and easy service. Food and drinks arrived quickly and were delicious. Lovely views over the estuary on a lovely Tuesday morning.

Delicious and generously portioned roast beef dinner in the brasserie A little on the expensive side though. The ambience was lacking, but it was a stormy day in February. I imagine that there would be a lovely buzz on a sunny summer day.

Had Sunday lunch here and chose the roast dinner. The vegetables were really tasty and plentiful which is great. The beef was a bit chewy for me but a very decent roast. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Really lovely meal for valentines. Thanks to all the staff who gave up their evening so we could enjoy ours. We enjoyed every morsel of our three courses and left replete. Menu was superb with plenty of choice.

I have always had excellent food and service each time I have visited the brasserie over the years. I recently attended my friends wedding at St Ellis Bay and was blown away by the exceptional way it was run from start to finish. The food was amazing, the venue was beautiful and the staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for everyone, it was just a perfect evening!

We had our Christmas party here. Great evening. Staff were very attentive. Will be back. Thanks

Amazing food … outstanding !!! The beef all three of us had was the best I’d eaten since I was a child at my Grandmother’s house more than 60 YEARS ago !!! Service was excellent and atmosphere perfect. I’ve eaten with you many times and you are still my ‘Go To’ restaurant ! I also am a regular visitor to the bistro - and I LOVE it ! Me & my family really enjoyed the Robbie Williams tribute night. All 3 courses were outstanding, the beef rib was so tender & full of flavour. Roberto & all the other waiters/waitress’s gave a 5star experience. We loved the mojito’s!. Can’t wait for our next get together here.

The restaurant is a real gem !!! We visited 2 weeks ago and come back again today. Excellent food the best fish and chips we ever had , presented in a posh way ( if you ever watched master chef you will know what I mean)😊 Parsnip soup was delicious Staff are very friendly and Robert was very helpful and polite. Very warm welcome from Robert today. The restaurant is very clean and the view is gorgeous👍🏻 We will be back next month Thank you to the chief 👍🏻he is a real credit to the restaurant !!!! As always, excellent service from friendly, efficient staff and consistently high standard of food. Beautiful winter sunset views from the Brasserie 1st floor was an added bonus. We will be back again soon.

Four of us dined at St Elli’s Bay brasserie last night. We received a very warm welcome and the excellent and attentive service continued throughout the evening. We all really enjoyed enjoyed our meals and had a great time.

Located in St Ellie’s Bay, this modern building features a café on the underground floor and a brasserie on the top floor, offering lovely views of the bay. The café operates with an order-at-the-counter and pay-on-order system. The coffee, specifically the flat white, was average in quality. Unfortunately, the shakshuka was disappointing. It seemed more like baked beans mixed with tomato puree, onions, and red peppers, rather than an authentic preparation. The two small poached eggs were overcooked and misshapen, and the accompanying sourdough toast was fairly standard, lacking any standout flavor. The eggs Benedict was similarly average, with the choice of meat resembling Serrano ham rather than the traditional bacon typically expected in this dish. The service was acceptable, and overall, the experience was pleasant, thanks to the beautiful view of St Ellie’s Bay.

Thought we'd give it a try, as the location and reviews were good... promising start, with friendly greeting from staff and the cakes in the display looked tasty. Ordered crispy squid, chicken burger and a couple of drinks. Drinks brought over quickly, again, friendly service. The food arrived soon after, and unfortunately was just not great. The squid was chewy, and the chicken in the chicken burger was so thin, it was kind of lost in the flavour of the bun and sauce. The chips were lukewarm at best. We were going to have a cake and coffee afterwards, but as no-one came to check if everything was OK with the food we'd had, we just didn't want to stay. Just to cap it off the staff didn't even acknowledge or say goodbye as we left... and there were only two other tables with customers (we were downstairs), so there was no excuse of being busy. I'm afraid we won't be going back :-(

Lovely place with really good food! I had the pulled pork croquetas as a starter, which I strongly recommend. As a main, I had cod & chips. The mush pees had the right amount of mint, which is not something you get everywhere. Well done! The staff were very friendly.

I'd highly recommend St.Ellis Bay, if you're in the area. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, so I had a hard time choosing, but eventually went for the honey glazed duck breast, (which was on the specials menu). It was an all-around beautiful meal, with some really unusual flavours! Will definitely be eating there again.

Lovely cafe spoiled by dogs snapping and barking. I'm a dog lover myself, but the cafe was too small to allow so many dogs in. Also one dog owner let his dog lick the crumbs off his plate, disgusting.

Been twice, the food is very nice and it’s a lovely place with a great view of the beach. Unfortunately the service lets the experience down, they are very slow and waiters stand around chatting when customers are waiting. Having said that we will definitely be back as overall it’s a nice restaurant.

Great location, helpful staff and great food.

The food was delicious and was selected from the fixed price lunch menu. We had a bottle of house red which was suggested by our waitress and it was excellent. We had a table with a sea view and the beach. I wish we lived closer to dine there more often.

Gelateria. Possibly the best Ice creams we’ve had. Great flavours, freshly made, generous portions and fairly priced. Enjoyed in the sunshine. Thanks!

Service was good, ordered a breakfast, mostly good, sausage was a bit cheap and the potato and beetroot rosti rock hard and hardly any beetroot in it. Not what I was expecting for the price. Plus owners with a barking dog puts you off.

Expensive food had small portions with no good quality

Superb lunchtime meal, with 2 courses for £19.95. The main course was cooked to perfection, wonderful flavours and well presented. The waiting staff were attentive and professional. Faultless.

Came here last Sunday while visiting family. Didn't get off to a good start as it took a while to get a drinks order and then our food. The food took over 40 mins to come out even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. That being said, the food when it did arrive was lovely and worth the wait, plus the staff were very helpful and apologetic. I got the impression they were short staffed

Spent a Magical afternoon at St Elli's Bay, Llanelli celebrating my dad's 89th birthday and it was absolutely fabulous!! It's a gem of a place on the beach overlooking lovely views of the sea and coastline. Sunny, windy, raining, whatever the weather the place has a great ambience!! Food is very tasty and there are offers too, check out the website. There is parking but at weekends it obviously gets more busy so be aware. On the ground floor there is a cafe and outside there is an ice cream shop where you can sit outside enjoying the view. The staff at the restaurant are excellent as always and it was our lucky day as they were doing a photo shoot of about 6 cocktails on the menu and after the photo shoot asked if we wanted the cocktails the had made which of course, we just couldn't say no ha ha 😉. It was the most fun and magical birthday made more so by the attentive staff, great ambience and not forgetting the delicious food of course!! Iechyd Da and Bon Appetit everyone!!
