Amazing spot by the river! The food is delicious and authentically Bavarian, with a great selection of beers. The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. We love coming here for different occasions. Highly recommend for a great meal or casual drinks!

We go there regularly- the food it very traditional German and the beer too both are perfect - a must visit once a year at least

When I visit Kingston I always go to Stein's. We can both only recommend it. Good and tasty food, appropriate portions and great ambience, right on the Thames.

Sausages are very delicious both pork and beef. We went there for one our friend’s birthday. The atmosphere is very nice. They brought a shot for my friend to have only because it was her birthday.

Great german pub. Pork knuckle is awesome

German restaurant. Fantastic vibe. Stylish, warm with nice river view! We enjoy a friend’s gathering here. Only serve hot coffee but with variety of beer. The pretzel is freshly made and is very popular for kids. Kids meal menu is available. The pork knuckle also good with gravy sauce. We also tried the fish salad tastes yummy! Worth to come back again and high recommended!

Always an amazing experience at Stein’s Kingston. Authentic Bavarian food and great selection of drinks. Service is above and beyond, especially Katja who speaks both German and English, so you really feel like you’re in the Bavarian Alps. We celebrated my husband’s birthday in the area upstairs and it was one of the best parties ever! I highly recommend.

Very please with the service. Went on a cold day and preferred to sit in the main body of the restaurant which they were very accommodating to. Food was great and full of flavour. We had the schnitzel, red sausage and the curry sausage with a side of red cabbage, would recommend all three. Wide variety of drinks. Great service despite busy atmosphere. Very attentive staff

Don’t visit as much as I should. The food is really filling so you won’t leave hungry. Would recommend as it’s rare to find a good Bavarian restaurants. Drinks: Great selection of helles. I really enjoyed my gluhwein. Mains: I had the beef roulade which was nice. Really enjoyed the dumping. Red cabbage wasn’t the best I’d had. We also ordered the farmers feast which was yummy. Food slightly on the expensive side but given it’s a small business I can understand. Atmosphere: Nice decor and the service was very very speedy even in a Friday night. Recommendation: would love to be able to get a chimney cake for dessert (not Bavarian but would be so good after the meal)

Came here for a late lunch. Very generous portions, the good is very good and reasonably priced. They have some good larger and the staff and very friendly. They also have an outdoor section which looks over the river. Worth a visit.

A bit away from main Kingston town, closer to riverside. Great Bavarian food! Very flavoursome. Staff are very kind and accommodating - all speak German too. Interior is cosy/warm vibes. Outdoor seating as well as indoors, great for summer which overlooks the river.

We always visit this superb little restaurant at Christmas and It never fails to impress. It has excellent food and drinks and super polite staff. Also really nice views out to the Thames.

Food was served promptly and exceeded expectations, including the dessert! Service was great and timely. The atmosphere of a log cabin in the mountains, warm and welcoming.

A fantastic dining experience with incredible food and service. Staff were attentive and always happy to help, particularly Jakob, who looked after us brilliantly. The goulash, red-herring salad and apple strudel were the clear highlights of the meal, however each and every item was well received by all. Always a pleasure visiting a Steins.

The best Christmas mood in Kingston, and delectable food

Service was amazing, kind and courteous cannot fault at all. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming almost like your local pub. However the food was the let down. It was extremely small portions for the high price point. And lacked any real authentic taste that other offerings of the same dishes at alternate restaurants do.

Loved Steins! The desserts are amazing and the staff can’t do enough for you. Would recommend!

What a cosy and welcoming restaurant. Atmosphere was really inviting with divers of all ages from young families with babies to older couples. Great service and selection of food and beers, along with a festive menu options. The apple strudel was delicious!

I’ve been going there for years and at this point, it feels more like going for pilgrimage than eating out. It ain’t that cheap but you do get what you what you pay for. Their sausages and meat are so good, it’s hard to beat them. Definitely worth it to cheer you up if you’re having one of the wurst days. I’d book a table if I were you cause it gets busy. Also, might wanna skip breakfast/lunch as the portions are not for the faint of stomach. We are beer-ly Frankfort-unate to have a place like that in Kingston. I’ll stop here, let them do the glazing and leave you a loin.

What a great find. Cozy in the winter. Open and airy in the summer (on the river). Food is legit and varied. Knowledgable staff with great recommendations. A bit noisy at times, but this adds to the excitement.

I miss this restaurant, even I have been living in Germany since 2018. It is one of the restaurants you don't check prices if you go there. Everything is as it should be, always perfect!

The currywurst is sensational, the best I've ever had, the cheese and ham platter is also very good. Service is always great. Just an all round great experience.

Great experience and very friendly staff

After a long summer break we visited Stein again and were shocked about the price increases. Charging £23.5 for a chicken is certainly a rip off, you get a steak for that price. Very disappointed.

Hadn't been here for a while but unfortunately recommended it to a friend. We decided on the limited lunch menu. I had the chicken schnitzel, which turned out to be tiny, approximately 1/2 the size I'd remembered, wafer thin and dry. It comes with sautéed potatoes, but I remembered the potato salad being good and opted for that. Wish I hadn't as it was far too acidic and not how I remembered. My husband and friend opted for the meatloaf. What arrived was something that looked, and tasted, like a lump of spam. Quite disgusting! We told the waitress. She was basically the only good thing in the whole experience. However, nothing was taken off the bill or anything complimentary offered. All in all an extremely disappointing experience and with all the other lunch opportunities on offer in Kingston, will not be going again.

Didn't know I liked German food so much until I went to Steins. Now I keep going back. I LOVE the mashpotato with sauerkraut. I'm not the biggest fan of sausages, but they are pretty good in there. The decor and the outfits are great, it helps make the experience. The only complaint I have is that the benches are very narrow, and if you bring a fat friend, they are not going to fit and will have to wait outside. Obviously, go for a stein of beer. In fact, make it a boot of beer! Highly recommended.

Cannot comment on food this time as we were turned away for having children. I say turned away, we hadn’t even entered the premises. We been there approximately 10-15 times in the past and we have perfectly behaved children that have grown up eating in restaurants at least once a week and have beautiful manners. Apparently one buggy today was too many! We will not return!

I have been going to Steins since it opened in Kingston and have always had good food and drink. I went in with the family after passing by on the boat from Hampton and saw that the outside area was fairly quiet. On entering the restaurant it was half full with several tables spare. I asked if they had room for us and after a brief discussion amongst staff it was decided that there were “too many high chairs and prams” already. I counted one pram. I won’t be bothering to go back to here or the one in Richmond which, in fairness, has a more limited menu anyway. It’s good to see that they’re doing well enough to turn people away though.

Visited as a group of 9. Very limited choice of food for both adults and kids. Some dishes were great, others were mediocre with random flavours thrown in together. Good beer. Sloppy disengaged service. Great breads. Has a general feel of being more interested in being German than delivering a good experience. I'm not sure I'd return.

Service was superb and the food was delicious.

I'll start with the good. The restaurant is in a really nice location next to the river, and we had good service from the staff. However, the food you get for the price here is a joke, and I would never come back because of this. We ordered a 2 person sharing platter for £50 which came with a handful of small sausages, some mashed potato and sauerkraut. It was barely enough to feed one person rather than two. The portion size isn't too bad on its own, but when coupled with the fact that we paid £50 for this, it's frankly unbelievable. What made it even worse is that we checked the price for this on the website beforehand which was very different to the price on the day. If you love getting ripped off, here's the place to go to.

The place is quite narrow and long, was placed inside near the entrance door, could not say it is good. Liked the sausage and alcohol free beer and apfelstrudel, quality and service were good. But prices are high for such simple foods, almost 50 GBP per person.

My friends and I (including a child) visited this bar, and unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience. Despite calling for the waiter multiple times, we were completely ignored. When he finally acknowledged us, he was quite rude and even accused us of being impatient. His attitude felt dismissive, and it seemed like he was easily racist, which made the whole experience even more uncomfortable. The lack of basic customer service and respect was extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere or decent service.

Our server Jakub was amazing , friendly and attentive .Food was brilliant as well . The only reason why I am not giving full stars is that after speaking to my friend I found out that only half of the 12,5% service charge which is added to the bill goes to the staff and the company takes the other half . If I knew before I would have just left cash for the waiter and the kitchen to share . Also I’ve noticed one of the managers being quite patronising to the staff (micromanagement) My rating is purely for Jakub , kitchen , food , location and the views . The company and management are questionable.

The staff here are a delight, one strange thing… I come from Bielefeld and they kept telling me that’s not true and Bielefeld doesn’t exist! It does exist I tell you! The pretzels and schnitzels are to die for

Location is great as it is one of the few restaurants right next to the river without facing the crowds walking around. But their prices are too high for what they offer! We had only: one Schnitzel (portion is quite small for an adult), one Summer Salad (starter portion), one kid’s Schnitzel (portion is very good for a kid), one glass of beer, and one apple pie. We paid £80!! You can have that bill in Fischers or German Gymnasium in central London, where you can have excellent food with an excellent service and in a very elegant/fancy/high-class atmosphere. Stein’s atmosphere is not more than a regular pub, so that bill is quite shocking. That is why their tables were mostly empty on a Saturday evening in a beautiful warm weather outside, where all other restaurants in Kingston were fully booked (Stein’s was the only place where we could find a table to sit with a same day reservation)

A great place to dine. I used to always come here with friends, but I have subsequently realised how child-friendly it is. Large plates of sausages, a riverside terrace to watch the swans and boats, and great beer. It’s all a toddler (bar the beer) or adult could want.

The food here is always cooked to perfection! And served with a smile from the kind very kind friendly staff!! The beer is lovely!! Very lovely food I would highly recommended!!! Back again a few days later!!
