What a lovely fish and chip supper. Haddock was delish, chips could have done with a few more mins in fryer. But the highlight was the Sandersted Fish and Chip Girls. Lovely smiles, nice banter and cheerful countenance, great job

This has the be the BEST fish and chips place ever. Having tried so many in the area as I've lived in Purley and worked in Croydon for years. Also having lived and worked elsewhere Inc now in Epsom, Sanderstead Station Fish and Chips is by far the best fish and chip shop ever. The staff are sooo kind and friendly but the Food is next level. The fish is lightly battered, really good size and proper chunks of cod inside. It is just delicious. We recently moved from Sanderstead to Epsom and I still drive down to buy the fish and chips from them as the ones near our new home are rubbish in comparison!!

Really lovely staff, nice and clean shop. Fish is fresh and chips are a good portion size.

No clear sign that they only take cash, I had to ask a customer when I noticed the people ahead paying cash. The staff weren’t friendly or welcoming at all. Waited 20mins for food, after a 5 minute drive home, food was cold. Not worth the wait or the hassle to withdraw cash. It’s 2024, the average person doesn’t have cash, get a card machine!

Very rude, very bored member of staff, eyeing me with disdain as i looked at the menu. Gave my order, she then aggressively said 'it's cash only'. Honestly, it was a massively bizarre experience. The chips i bought(only had enough cash for some overpriced chips) were not cooked properly. The chips aren't the problem, the service is. I bet the regulars are greeted fondly and politely. I was not.

Supper clean, super service & absolute super grub. Why go any where else? Everything is cooked with love & knowledge to perfection. You even cant say that about the poshest eatery.

First time at this Fish & Chip shop and having read the reviews my expectations were high. First, the good things: staff very friendly and efficient; batter on the fish was light and crispy; chips were decent and portion sizes were very good for the price; lastly fish wasn’t greasy. Despite the fish being cooked to order, unfortunately my haddock was over cooked and the fish was dry. Very disappointing because the reviews set the expectation that it was going to be very good. The only other negative was only dealing with cash and not contactless, but that is minor. I will give it another go though, because if the fish had not been over cooked then the star rating would be 5

We had a very large order for 35 people and there were no mistakes with it at all. The food was all organised and labelled by the chef, causing me minimal stress. The food was very tasty as always and the portions generous. Excellent customer service also. Very much recommended. Many thanks!

Don’t take card. Local cash machine charges for withdrawals. Shame as the food is good, but let’s get real it’s 2023, card reader fees are less than depositing cash. Only one reason to not take card.

This is the BEST chippy for me so far! Their excellent and utterly delicious Fish and Chips is my gold standard when trying to eat in other restaurants or chip shops.

What kind of business in this day and age only accepts cash. They need to move with the times, everything is cashless, Apple Pay etc. plenty of other fish and chip shops in sanderstead who accept all forms of payment.

Chips were under cooked. By the time I got home they were all stuck together in a ball. Very pale and tasted under cooked. Had to recook them myself to make them edible. They were clearly over stretched as it was a Saturday night and the two girls kept saying how many chip orders were needed.

My Dad and I went here a few weeks ago and it was genuinely the tastiest fish and chips we have had in some years. They gave us an extra piece of fish too as one was smaller. The service was quick and painless. We enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning when I’m back in the area.

Brilliant food and brilliant service, if a chippy isnt busy on a friday then there are problems, this one is always busy. As for the review from anna judging by the time of the review i believe i was waiting that night she was there, the staff were not rude if anything it was the other way round, she was never waiting for half an hour, after 5 minutes of waiting she was complaining to people outside that she had been there half an hour which was a blaitent lie, if anything she was extremely rude and seemed to want everything on command, you could always cook at home if you dont like waiting 10-20 minutes anna :). Back to the shop itself the girls work extremely hard and are very pleasant, also have to deal with unecessary grief from the public and still remain friendly and always smiling keep up the good work all of you.

Fairly average fish and chips. Had some really greasy and undercooked chips on occasion. Quite expensive too. Much prefer Castella in South Croydon.

Horrible, rude staff. Never again. They forgot my order and made us wait outside for nearly 30 minutes. I asked where my order was because people who ordered 20 minutes after us got served while we were still waiting, and a staff member started shouting at me. I eventually got my order, but the food was completely cold (I live 3 minutes drive from the shop). I believe the order was sitting on the site the whole time we were waiting. I just wanted to treat my family to fish and chips for dinner, and that experience completely ruined my Saturday night.

Fantastic fish and chips every time! I normally get either the chicken chunks or scampi and both delicious. My hubby gets the cod every time and he says it’s not greasy. I phone ahead now to order then I’m not waiting too long. Cash only still. Superb service and wonderful food!

This used to be a great go to place for fish and chips over several years but the the last two visits, months apart, mean I won't be returning... stale/hard/lukewarm chips, soggy batter over fatty skin, never any haddock, no mask wearing on the last visit and quite honestly at £8.70 for a potion of (small) fish and chips, it's hardly worth the trip... :(

What a rude girl in there telling you to wait outside after she's taken your money! Wanted to buy somethingelse hence lookingin the oven then she tells you to get out ! Its the way she says it as well .awfully rude. Sign in there stating to move away 1 meter from the counter after ordering your food which makes no sense at all ! Anyway they'll never take my money ever again!

The fish is cooked fresh and it's lovely, the batter is light and crispy. The chips are are not greasy and you get a good portion. There are always a queue here on Fridays and when you taste these chips you'll know why.

Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had; I am not sure about the freshness of the fish. Which idiot forgot to take the skin off is downright lazy. The batter was very very poor and inedible. I read the reviews and expected great things, great things I did not receive- avoid!

The cod is great. I prefer skinned and lightly battered which they are always happy to oblige.

This has got to be the best fish and chip shop for miles around , fresh fish daily always friendly staff , with the tastiest chips, can be busy on a Friday and weekends evenings , but you can phone in and order and then collect . No delivery. I think that’s how they keep the fish so fresh . Also large variety of fishes all the star are there’s. great shop . Well worth the wait 👍🏽👍🏽

Well, it's usually the best fish and chips in South Croydon, but last night, having spent £32.00 it was the worst. The chips had been refried and were hard and the fish must have been off as all four of us had diarrhoea that evening or next morning. Had to share in order for you to maintain your high standards.

Must be one of the best in London. Cash only, though. There is a cash machine in the shop next door.

Fried fish with skin on is a dealbreaker for me...sorry. But batter was light and crisp and chips were pretty good.

Just moved into the area a month ago. Found this place abs delighted I did. Can say without doubt the best fish and chip shop I have been too in south London or Surrey. Really crisp chips, great batter, the food is fantastic , the staff are young enthusiastic, helpful and pretty , really glad I found the place and have visited four tones already! A queue does sometimes develop however everything is cooked fresh and it’s a testament to how good there food is and the popularity. They run around and serve people and cook as fast as they can. Great place abs highly recommend. Chris
