Starwok in Milton Keynes

We ordered a takeaway. It arrived lovely and hot. However, that’s the only positive I can give. The egg fried rice was BOILED rice with some chopped egg thrown in. The chicken balls were soft and stodgy. The batter was very thick and nasty and the chicken inside was tough and chewy like it was rubber. Clearly it was made the the cheapest chicken ever. The special chow mein was tasteless, I mean NO FLAVOUR at all. All the meats were chewy and hard. It was disgusting. We will NEVER eat from here again. I make better Chinese and I am English.

Ordered food from this restaurant at 8.20pm this evening which said we would receive it within half an hour. The time got to 21.20pm and I called the restaurant as the food hadn’t even left for delivery. The person who answered at the restaurant said it was leaving and should be with us in 10 minutes. After 15 minutes I called back again as we still hadn’t received the food. The time was now 21.50pm and deliveroo said the restaurant was shut, so the same man answered saying our food had been taken to oldbrook as part of a just eat order. I said to him we ordered through deliveroo, and he told me it was leaving so how did it just disappear to which he said he was going back to the restaurant to check as they were now closed. Long story short he said the order got cancelled even though it didn’t as it said on my phone it was out for delivery, so we never received food after waiting for over an hour and a half and now we wait to see whether a refund will ever arrive. Avoid at all costs!!!

I don’t know if this place has new owners but whoever it is has now trashed it. You can’t order by phone any more. They’ve gone to the crappest app imaginable and despite creating an account (which I hate) I still couldn’t order anything. Menu has changed and even trying some of the things on there, the order wouldn’t go through. This is the end of years of loving Star Wok. Looking for somewhere else now.

This Chinese is the best in my opinion it’s my favourite food, I have found fault with others in MK but couldn’t fault this

I can honestly say this is the worst Chinese I have had We ordered chicken fried rice egg fried rice abs special fried rice The rice was certainly not fried !! It was plain booked with bits of egg or chicken tossed in It was like eating poor mans food!! The main dishes ku po chicken were again was having kebab sauce poured over the meal Sweet abs sour chicken. Balls were okay but the sauce I believe was watered down Please save your money and do not order from here I will certainly be going back to MR LAW

Ordered our food for delivery at 5:30pm and was given eta of 60mins after 2hrs still nothing. And they finally turned up after 3hrs completely unacceptable and sent them packing. Got full refund from Deliveroo.

I used this on a friends recommendation. The food was amazing really quick service as I just turned up and did not order by phone. This is a superb Chinese Take Away will use again

Have used Star Wok regularly as we live on Grange Farm. However our last 2 visits have been poor. Crispy duck tasted like it had been cooked twice and very dry. Tonight the spare ribs were tasteless and sat in a tray of coloured water. Sorry to say will not be returning

I really don't understand some of the reviews on here. The food has always been good, if it wasn't I know the manager, Jason, would sort it out. Also I find the staff really friendly

DO NOT GO HERE! disgusting place with even note disturbing staff that clearly don’t know how to understand an order over the phone- ordered a vegan meal and they sent us pork and when we called they said they could remake and send some more but would have to wait, when we refused and asked for a refund they didn’t want to give it and only when we clearly got annoyed did they finally manage to agree. Disgusting attitude and somehow managed to send one portion of veg spring rolls and one meat!!!

I only write reviews when what I get is different than what I expected. We've used the Star Wok a few times a year and until now always been pleased - particularly as they don't use monosodium Glutamate. Tonights takeaway will be the last - at least until the chef(s) change. So disappointed! Sesame prawn toasts overcooked, deep-fried and tasteless. Crispy duck (shredded) was dry and didn't include the skin (the best bit!). Our other dishes were equally disappointing. We've recommended Star Wok to friends and family for years. I regret - no more. We don't use them frequently enough to pinpoint when the chef's changed. Now we have to find a good Chinese takeaway in MK.

When I lived in Milton Keynes and when I’m visiting Milton Keynes this is the Chinese I like to use for a takeaway the beef in black bean sauce is fantastic the chilli crispy beef is perfect the duck in plum sauce is stunning I would have to get a tray of that for myself if anybody else wants some they’ll need to get their own one and the house chow mein or House special fried rice is stunning good size prawns and plenty of meat in it you need to go and sample this Chinese😄😄👍👍👍👍

We have ordered from them a few times every time it takes forever for the delivery and they keep charging us more for the delivery fee. Today we have had to wait over a hour and half and I’m still waiting now! If you want your food sometime today don’t order from here

We have been using star wok for many many years, always been great food and staff are happy to remove an ingredient for a dish if needed. Food is always hot and taste great. However our main reason we go back time and time again is because of the service, we have been eating here since before we have children and ours are now 3 and 5 years old, both of the main owners have always been so friendly with our children and always get a warn welcome, so if you want more then just great food this is the place to go !!

This place has got worse and worse since the lady who ran it doesn’t seem to be there anymore, hardly any meat in the dishes just full of veg and watery sauce ordered spring roles got them home to find they hadn’t even been cooked!!! Trying to get through on the phone is a mission too just keeps ring and ringing wouldn’t waste your money here there are far better places to go in MK

One of the hood chinese takea aways in MK, at least you see them cook which is a plus and makes you trust them a bit more. The menu is not huge which is also good and some of the options are really good. Worthy a try.

Best takeaway chinese in MK! Have now ordered twice and so pleased with our meals i can now write a review. Found starwok on justeat but now order from them direct.. Not the fastest to deliver but its worth the wait which is 40mins usually. So Friday’s choice was hong kong style sweet and sour prawns - the sauce was beautiful and so fruity! Like the proper sweet and sour wasnt that syrup rubbish. That has onions, carrots and sweetcorn. Prawn curry, again amazing sauce, quite hot! That had peas and loads of onions my fave. The prawns were massive too so definitely worth the price. Egg fried rice, simple and nice not oily. Plain chow mein, again simple but not oily and super fresh. Salt and pepper squid - oh lordy. I LOVE squid so many takeaways get it so wrong and over cook the squid so its rock hard - this was beautiful and fried lightly. Salt and pepper chips, best weve had. Really sweet flavouring - so mourish!! With loads of chilli flakes and spring onions. And lastly a helping of veggie spring rolls - proper lush with loads of filling! Dont be put off by the bad reviews - theyve been lovely both times we ordered - we order seafood as we are pescatarians so our takeaways are pricey because of that but we found Starwok very competitive and good value. Great food, great service and great price!

Nice food all around except for the spare ribs which were very small and full of gristle. Hardly any meat on them. All other dishes were very nice and reasonably priced. Our friends that live in MK use Star Wok every week and purposely drive out of their way.

We should have known when the order was delivered 15 minutes after placing it instead of the hour they first indicated - we sent for crispy duck and dry spare ribs the crispy duck was like rubber and barely warm the spare ribs were cold we tried to heat them up and they were tasteless we rang the restaurant to tell them and they said they’re sorry and offered us a discount off the next order - sorry StarWok save your discount we will not be coming back

Ordered last night and everything i ordered was horrible, dry and flavourless. The spring rolls are not large like in another review. Took a chance on this chinese and wish i hadn't.

Excellent service will use them again.

This is the worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten in my life it was tasteless I wasted £18 I should have thrown the £18 in the bin instead.

The Tom Yum Goong (Prawn) soup was as good as it was in Thailand, Chicken balls were top notch and crispy chilli beef really authentic. Unfortunately the Roast Pork was really tough and inedible but this is the only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 in general this place is way above average.

Ribs nice, sauce unpleasant. Chow mein far too bland again, even though I picked a dish which warned me it was hot. Chicken balls nice, sweet and sour sauce passable, satay sauce poor, like peanut butter with a little curry powder. the `special mixed meat vermicelli` could have been anything, tasted like just noodles and some chicken. Probably will not order from Starwok again.

Apart from my vegetarian szechaun soup having chicken and prawns in it (didn't go to waste, my husband said it was lovely). It was early and hot and my noodles were lovely.

Food was delviered 40 mins early. Soup was good but the seaweed had too much salt and the noodles was extremely greasy. I also ordered a can of fanta which i never got.

The plum sauce wasn't plum sauce - tasted and looked like a sweet chilli sauce. Duck was really bad. All round very poor. wouldn't order again.

I have ordered from Starwok many times over the last year or so and can honestly say that they are without a doubt the best Chinese in Milton Keynes! Delivery times are frequently extended (although they usually deliver before that) but I am putting that down to (I am guessing) that all their food is cooked to order. You can definitely taste the freshness of their dishes, that also don't leave you feeling bloated and crappy. The absence of additives such as MSG is greatly appreciated! Starwok does it right!

Cannot believe we have ordered from this restaurant quiet a few times. Lesson learned they have delivered wrong food before but keep telling myself they will improve (wrong). Order food and once again they delivered the wrong food. Complained and asked for correct food to be delivered as we had not opened the food originally delivered. They refused and took the food back and kept our money. How bad is that . We won't be using them again.

the delivery man was very polite. the noodles had a few too many onions in them and tasted very average. the prawn toast was amazing! the egg fried rice was average. I probably would order again but I would get some satay sauce next time to counteract the slight lack of flavour.

The food tasted stale and rubbery! Really disappointed. One of the items we ordered was Crispy Shredded beef but it was chewy! The Prawns in the King Po sauce tasted like they had been re-cooked several times. Won't be going back

Being fed up with the quality of chinese takeaways in Milton Keynes we thought we'd give Star Wok a go. Can rate it as one of the worst takeaways I've ever had.
