Starbucks in County Durham

Ordered caramel waffle latte and a Chelsea bun for myself, my friend ordered a vegan coffee and cake, by the time we’d picked up our cakes my friends’ vegan coffee was ready and a queue of people had formed so we took a seat and waited, and waited and waited. So having seen so many customers come in and get their drinks instantly I went back to ask for my caramel waffle latte, first of all I was told it had already gone out and the assistant was kind of trying to ignore me as she just continued with more orders, then she snapped ok I’ll make another but she continued with other orders and as the next person she called returned to the counter with a coffee she’d had some time and been drinking, the Starbucks assistant took her cup and tried to pass it to me saying it must be mine! I was horrified and said I don’t want someone else’s coffee, it’s already been partially consumed and handled by another customer so not hygienic but also we’re in the middle of a pandemic. She made me wait a while then passed a cup, looking nothing like the caramel waffle latte on the posters and not knowing if she’d topped up the other cup I retired to the table where my friend had finished her coffee & cake alone, so I ate my then sad dry bun and as I was leaving spoke to a supervisor about the lack of customer service, care and food hygiene safety. I asked for the branch number snd name as I wanted to put in an official complaint but was told the web address would find them, the assistant would be spoken to about making me wait and given a card for a free drink. I’ve mailed the complaints department but 10 days later not heard a thing - we won’t be visiting starbucks anytime soon, I don’t think it’s safe!!!

The drinks were as you would expect from a Starbucks. Nice but overpriced, however that is assumed beforehand and is no surprise. The reason I rated it lower than I would usually is because the wait to be served was ridiculous! There were about 2-3 customers in front of us and we waited an extremely long time to be served!

Chain cafes are what they are and Starbucks are consistently good. What makes this one special is the incredibly helpful, friendly and professional staff.

Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Spotlessly clean. Eggnog latte and Christmas tree brownie are to die for. Only disappointment is that we can't sit in at the moment. So pleased they remain open during lockdown.

just wondering why on my last four visits for the exact same order I have been charged four different prices from the lowest of £4.55 - £5.39 - £5.14 - £5.24 for a mocca frap and a choc chip cookie. when you pay be contactless you dont check the price and just going through my bank stat now and noticed it. What is the correct price?

I love Starbucks it is in a great position so lots of people can access it. The hygiene is very good the staff are friendly and the place is clean and tidy. I would recommend going to this Starbucks yum yum 😋

The glass doors are covered in huge hand marks whatever time of day you go there. On my three visits I have never seen staff clear tables even when it is very quiet. The food and drink is standard Starbucks so I won't comment on that. The staff seem indifferent to customers (and a lot less pleasant than in most places in the North East) I guess I must be missing something as it is usually reasonably well occupied, so some people must be very happy with it. The location is convenient and easy, which is why I have met people in there for a chat

Quite a nice cafe with comfy seats, friendly staff and quick service. Can't say I was all that fond of my gingerbread latte nor the music they were playing, which was rather upbeat and spoilt the mood of the place. Good enough to go back to.

Nice cafe in central position very inviting venue. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our coffees and muffins. Plenty of seating inside or outside in the Shopping outlet free WiFi.

I ordered two Tea`s a coffee and two toasties.I received one tea than had to wait a few minutes before I got the coffee then waited a minute or so for one toastie which did not go with any of the drinks again waited for about four minutes before I got another tea and a few minutes more before the final toastie. Don`t mind waiting if all order comes together

A thirsty three year old grandson who asked for his favourite drink, daddy juice. It's not on their menu, did you expect it would be? A few frantic calls to mummy and daddy to establish its a flavoured ice tea and we had a happy youngster. Certainly a busy and popular place although a bit dark inside and would certainly benefit with a cost of lighter/brighter paint.

We popped in here while shopping and the staff were friendly and helpful and the coffee and cakes as good as always. There were new iced tea drinks that were delicious and thirst quenching.

Visited this Starbucks store and the staff were friendly. The service in this store was quick. The staff member at the till who served me was polite and freindly. Also the staff cared about the store and there all worked as a team and one staff member was cleaning up the tables while three other members of staff were making drinks while one was on the still. The store was kept clean at all times while I was sitting having my filter coffee because one staff who was doing the clean up the tables was making sure that the store was clean while other staff members were busy serving.

Popped in for much needed calories and caffeine. A latte, a tea, innocent orange juice and strawberry smoothie washed down a chocolate muffin, carrot cake, blueberry muffin and a chic chip cookie. The service was nice and the snacks were delicious. Refuelled we were off.

I call in this Starbucks regularly, normally just to collect my drink as order ahead for click n collect but the staff are always pleasant and cheerful. The drink is served with a smile and a cheery comment, such as enjoy or have a nice day. I always pop in some loose change into the LifeBoat charity box too as it goes to nearby Seaham Harbour LifeBoats.

One of the few places that allow dogs inside which was great on this freezing day.

It was a Saturday and the place was packed but everything ran smoothly. The coffee I had was very nice. The place was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Sometimes Starbucks can be a little grubby but this one was very clean

While supporting someone with a learning disability today we were served by a very friendly man called Michael. He made us feel very welcome and made a fuss of the person I was supporting and brought over our drinks to us. I think Michael is an asset to your company there should be more people like him around

Popped in for a cuppa whilst out shopping. I have never seen such a dirty and messy cafe. There were lots of dirty cups and plates which looked like they hadn't been cleared for quite a while. We struggled to get a table and seat as the place was busy with students buried in their laptops. We felt like we had walked into a uni library. The dirty crockery was eventually cleared, but still full of students who hadn't purchased a drink for a long while. I take it they were enjoying the free wifi!!

Great coffee served by friendly staff this is one of the better Starbucks that I have visited. However could be improved further with the addition of more comfortable seating!

I'm a regular customer at this brancg, normally get a plain old Chai Tea, but today I had a Tall Chai Tea Latte with a shot of Gingerbread. My was it yummy. Can never fault Starbucks customer service nor the product. The tea is always yummy, can't comment on the coffee because I can't stand the taste of the stuff.

The Starbucks in Durham City is an excellent one - it is quite large by the standard of most Starbucks establishments and is light and airy with some pavement tables. Inevitably it gets extremely busy with both students and tourists, situated on the main road from Durham station into town. The decoration is lovely - with bookshelves and books - very fitting for an academic town. Coffee is excellent and staff very friendly.

Ok, they have the same menu as all other Starbucks so that is no surprise, but interns of how they make coffee it is certainly exactly to the Starbucks standard, so it's pretty good, it's a pleasant cafe, rarely crowded, I visit often and the staff have been nothing but pleasant. If it's a Starbucks you crave, this is a great one

Coffee here is good,there is no denying that.However,customer consideration is non- existent! The place is drab,furniture dirty and ,in places even ripped! There are no trays,so if you have more than two drinks,you have to make a return trip,then with any luck you just get back to your seat when they shout to say your food is ready----back again ,while other staff are having a nice,cosy chat!!Compared with their rivals,Costa,they are complete non-starters,and ,in my opinion, should pay serious attention to the many short-falls in their customer service methods.None of the above would happen in a Costa establishment!
